Good morning, five AM. As we get started here this morning.
Here in Houston's Morning News, I'm Jimmy Barrett on our
top stories this half hour, A federal trade court has
revoked Trump's tariffs. Elon has left the building and coming
up at five oh eight the sounds that drive us crazy.
Details in the minutes ahead. You're in Houston's Morning News. First,

(00:37):
big problems already on the North three Way. Yes, guy, Mike,
you got that. Jimmy, it's a five car.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
See there's discussion whether it's five cars or four cors fatal.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
It's total shut down.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
I see three different spaces where the police are lined
up around North Maine. It looks like they've lined up
at Patton and also is at the North Street Bridge
or the Cottage Street Bridge. Either way, what you need
to know is they've shut out the North Freeway outbound,
not inbound coming out of downtown. On cz workaround for now,
The East Texa is a good way around that Also,

(01:07):
like that's not enough. Grand Parkway. That's going to be
southbound West Grand Parkway. It's a heavy truck accident. All
lanes are blocked. What kind of truck is it? It feels
like it's a dumb truck. Let me double check that
at the ten break and we'll get you right on
this skymike on the USA r Vresorts dot Com traffic center.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
From our KTRH top tax defenders. Twenty four hour weathers
that are considerable barning clouds decreasing during the day today,
slight chance with straight shower storm Hi right about ninety
Terry Smith is back. We'll get your update from her
in the weather channel in about eight minutes. Right now

(01:46):
Here's Cliffsanders.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
Thank you. Jimmy five oh one on k t RH.

Speaker 6 (01:50):
Our top story more judicial obstruction. Eight Federal trade court
blocks many of the tariffs put in place by President Trump.
LOUISIANAUS to Louisianas editor John Kennedy says, this is just insane.

Speaker 7 (02:04):
You mean that a federal judge has intervened with the
other two branches ability to.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Make Polish it.

Speaker 7 (02:11):
I'm shocked that hasn't happened since yesterday.

Speaker 6 (02:14):
The Administration has already said they'll appeal the Court of
International Trade ruled that only Congress can regulate commerce. Meantime,
the man behind Doejielon Musk, announces he's leaving. The administration.

Speaker 8 (02:28):
Must thank President Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful
spending here in Washington. As a special government employee, Musk's
hen only worked for the administration for one hundred and
thirty days in a single calendar year. The end of
May marks one hundred and thirty days since President Trump's inauguration.

Speaker 6 (02:47):
Kevin Cork reporting the President says it Russia is Vladimir
Putin is running out of time to negotiate a ceasefire
with Ukraine.

Speaker 9 (02:54):
We're going to find out whether or not he's tapping
this along or not, and if he is, well, respect
a little bit differently, but it'll take about a week
and a half two weeks.

Speaker 6 (03:03):
Ukraines Voladimir Zelenski has called for a three way summit
with Trump and Putin. As for Trump's Big Beautiful Bill, well,
it's running into opposition among Senate Republicans. Alabama's Tommy Tuberville
told KTI reaches Klay Travis and Buck Sexton, this is
really the art of the deal.

Speaker 10 (03:21):
It never was gonna happen to where the House did
their version. They sent it over and we were just
gonna rubber stamp at Pirstball. We have what we'll call
the Bird rule and has to go to parliamentarian anything
that comes into this package, and some of it probably
won't pass through the Bird rule.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
He says.

Speaker 6 (03:35):
Senators will make changes and then it has to pass
the House again, but ultimately he believes this will get
done elsewhere. Ice announces the arrest of an illegal alien
who threatened to assassinate the president.

Speaker 11 (03:49):
Ramon Morales Reyes was taken into constanty May twenty second
in Juno, Wisconsin, one day after the Mexican national allegedly
mailed a handwritten letter to Ice in which he promis
to self deforce after he assassinated President Donald Trump. Dhsays
Morales Reyes he illegally entered the US at least nine
times between nineteen ninety eight and two thousand and five.

Speaker 6 (04:13):
Fox is Jeff Minasso there five h four on KTRH.
We now know that Joe Biden's Department of Energy gave
out ninety three billion dollars in loans and commitments between
the time Trump won the election and before Joe left office.

Speaker 12 (04:28):
And he had a that much money in such a
short period of time. It's obviously they couldn't do it
before because they didn't want the scrutiny. But now all
of a sudden, we're finding out about it, and it's
a socker. We're findingut about this only now.

Speaker 6 (04:38):
That Mark Gooliz with PJ Media says, the mainstream media
isn't going to talk about this. The mainstream media also
calls Trump a liar, but the truth is they've been
lying for years.

Speaker 13 (04:51):
Yeah, right now, there is a pretty extensive list making
the rounds.

Speaker 14 (04:55):
This list of things that Democrats have made up out
of the ether just shows that we're not the conspiracy
theorist that we were once guest slit as.

Speaker 13 (05:03):
That's Andy Hoague with the Travis County Goop who says
this is all the Dems can do.

Speaker 14 (05:09):
It's desperation.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
They know the end is coming soon, so you kind.

Speaker 13 (05:12):
Of give up, right, But they continue to say that
conservatives are the problem. Jeff Biggs News Radio seven forty
Ka Trees.

Speaker 6 (05:20):
The left is also proposing a shadow government to counter
the Trump administration. Fox's Joe Conscious says this is ridiculous,
and the president's poll numbers a rising right now, More
and more.

Speaker 15 (05:31):
Polls show Trump exceeding fifty percent approval. So you look
at this proposed shadow government, I don't understand the point,
because the current government right now, according to the people,
is doing quite well on the economy, on the border,
and all the issues that people care about most.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (05:45):
Proposed members of this shadow cabinet include comedian John Stewart,
Mark Cuban, and New York Attorney General Letitia James. Oh,
and there's this new U Goff polling shows that the
DNC has a net approval rating of negative twenty one percent.

Speaker 16 (06:02):
As generally a friend of If you don't fall in
line with exactly how our party leaders want you to follow,
you're isolated, you're booted from the party.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
I mean, we saw that with Robert Kennedy.

Speaker 6 (06:13):
Junior, Trenton Rippy with the Young Americans for Liberty Group
five oh six in Austin Bail Reform to deny bail
to illegal aliens accused of violent crimes fails in the
Texas House. This is one of two bail reform resolutions
that did not pass this week. More on this coming
up in five point thirty.

Speaker 5 (06:30):
The proposal to.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
Scrap the Star Test task clear descentates, so the one
test a year kids currently take could turn into three
smaller tests.

Speaker 17 (06:39):
You can kind of see their growth and inform instruction
throughout the entire school year.

Speaker 6 (06:44):
Bob Papinski with the group Raise your Hand, Texas. The
House plan calls for schools to use one big test.
The Senate version calls on the state to create its
own test. The final compromise must be finished by Saturday night.
Five oh sixty. Astros beat the what X five to

(07:07):

on Houston's News whether in traffic station News Radio seven
forty kt RH.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Stay Informed, Stay on time.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Houston's Morning News continues with Jimmy Barrett and the Houston
Morning News Team.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
There's good sounds, right, and there's not good sounds. I
think one of the bad sounds heard this morning on
I forty five would be metal rubbing against metal when
you have a traffic accident. That's a bad sound. So
it kind of made me wonder, what are the sounds
that either make you angry or kind of drive you crazy,

(07:46):
or or just make you kind of reach out to
say stop it. I don't want to hear that. And
there's there's a few things that come to mind here,
you know, like nails on a chalkboard, you know, kind
of make you kind of make you quiver just a
little bit, like you like your spine is tingling when
you when you hear sound like that. Chopboards aren't very

(08:07):
common anymore though, so that that's probably you know, outside
of a coffee shop or a restaurant, that's probably if
they don't use them very much in classrooms anymore, that's
for sure. So I thought we'd have fun with this
today with the question of the day. You know, I've
got a couple of suggestions, and you probably have some too.
You can go to the iHeartRadio app kp r C.

(08:27):
It's our sister station whereby on today. Oh yeah, KTRH.
If it's morning, you must be on ktr H. Jimmy,
iHeart Radio AF KTRH makes number one in your preset,
And then the question of the day is the sound
that instantly drives you crazy. My dogs bark. It's very
it's rough, and it's high pitched, and it hurts my ears.

(08:51):
So I get an instant reaction when I hear that.
That's one example. The chirp of a dying battery and
a smoke detector might be one of the things that
drives me the craziest. How long does it take you
to find it? Which smoke detector is it? You've replaced one,
and then you still hear the chirp I changed the

(09:12):
battery and the wrong smoke detector. Smacking when eating people
who eat with their with their mouths open and they
had that little smacking noise. Or even here's one that
really drove me crazy. We had a friend once who
was she was just gnawing on a piece of gum,

(09:34):
just gnawn on that piece of gum. And I finally
got to the point where I actually took my finger
as she's mid smacking. I reach and and I pulled
the gum right out of her mouth because I couldn't
stand it anymore. Those are the things that drive you crazy. Again,
The iHeart radio. Ab Katie r h megas number one hundred,
pre set please talk back button, hit it. You got

(09:54):
the first name where you're calling from, if you'd like.
And the sound that in drives you crazy, drives you nuts,
gets a reaction each and every time you got thirty
seconds on the talkback button, five ten times for traffic
and weather.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
The dollars if you can guess, it's a common sound
people can make that drives you great.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Comment sound.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
People can make common sound that people can make carry
what do you say? Comment sound? People that can make
that drives you cre It's insane. They do it in
commercials now all the time. In the song whistling.

Speaker 18 (10:26):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
I don't hate whistling. All whistling pretty much, yeah, but
I mean there's good whistlers and bad whistlings.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
And what I really hate is commercials where the song whistles.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Okay, and that sound that gas stations.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
All right, let's get to Nord Freeway. Serious stuff here.
This is a complete closure. This is outbound, not inbound,
North Freeway. They're calling it North Maine. I see the
police lined up coming out of downtown. So this is
from the North Street Bridge and they've shut down the
whole freeway. They've shut down obviously the side street access
five vehicles, one of them's overturned.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
And yes, nothing good's happening here.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
And it's been here since early this morning, about three
in the morning, so it's an easy thing to get
around for now. That's the East Texas Freeway around Grand
Parkway southbound.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
Let's go to Jeff and Katie. Dude, Hey guy, Mike,
heading northbound on ninety nine.

Speaker 19 (11:23):
There's a total shutdown.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Outbound on ninety nine at the FedEx Facility West Road exit,
there's a total shutdown. Eight overturned eighteen wheelers. Okay, I
want to make that clear.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
Jeff, you're going northbound, but you're looking southbound. That's what
the official guys are saying. And that's where the munch
is too. It's an overturn eighteen wheeler two left lane.
So it does look like everybody's okay. But Grand Parkway
West Road. Lookout Skymike on the USA RB Resorts dot
Com traffic center.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Oh look, who's back from all KTRH top tax defenders
twenty four hour weather center. You know what sound I
really do like what the sound of rings? Gently?

Speaker 20 (11:59):
Is that nice?

Speaker 2 (12:00):
The sound of rain gently falling just makes you want
to go into a nap. And when you go into
the nap, you go and that noise drives me crazy.

Speaker 21 (12:09):
So there you don't hear it because you're sleeping.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Well, it's not me.

Speaker 21 (12:16):
We all have you had some good sleeping weather here lately?

Speaker 5 (12:19):
Yeah, we'd like to. Yeah, we'd like to wake up
for a while.

Speaker 14 (12:22):
Good.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Wee missed the wooly booger Monday night.

Speaker 22 (12:25):
I did miss the wooly booger, but I was flying
Monday night, so yeah, it was no fun. Well, it's
a quieter stretch of weather. The next couple of days.
We do have some rain, but I don't think we're
going to see any of those wooly boogers that sky
Mic is so fond of. We only have a twenty

(12:45):
percent chance of a shower thunderstorm today. Keeping an eye
on radar in case any of that pops up. Sometimes
we get those the onshore showers to show up. So
far things are quiet. Temperatures today low eighties to low nineties,
so quiet. To range the further inland you are the warmer,
you are likely to be thirty percent chance at thuder

(13:05):
showers Tomorrow mid to upper eighty Saturday's dry Sunday a
thirty percent chance of rain.

Speaker 21 (13:10):
Monday, no rain.

Speaker 22 (13:12):
Temperatures are going to be pretty much what you would
expect in late May. We're almost a June. Golly, I
just can't believe we're almost at June.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Yup? Where what's there? Right now? Seventy one at your officials,
severe weather station, News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
It's Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New South
Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy Barretts and the Houston
Morning News team all the info you need to.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
Take on the day. It is a five twenty here
on Houston's Morning News. The latest member of the Trump
administration to sit down with bredbar from Fox and do
an in depth interview was Cash Bettel, the FBI Director.
What he had to say about January the sixth and
learning what really happened there. We'll show that audio with
you coming up next. First though, at five twenty. Traffic

(13:57):
and weather together already major problems this morning.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Two big ones too. North Freeway outbound at North Maine.
That's a total shutdown. This is a fatal and it's
been there since three o'clock this morning. It's outbound, not inbound,
coming out of downtown Grand park Way West Road southbound.
I think everybody's okay here. It's an overturn eighteen wheeler.
He's spilled some load of something and the fuel has mets.
There's total shutdown Grand Parkway West Road to southbound. Skymike

(14:22):
and the Generator Supercenter, dot Com traffic.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
Center from our KTRH top tax defenders twenty four hour
weather Center, Terry Smith says, becoming mostly sunny with a
slight chance with straight shower storm and high temperature today.
Right about ninety tomorrow, we'll see quite a few clouds.
Straight shower storm possibility eighty six looking good. Partly cloudy Saturday,
mostly Sunday on Sunday, so the weekend looks good. Temperature
right now is seventy one at your officials sphere Weather

(14:47):
Station News Radio seven forty k TRH. Time to check
out some of our top stories on this Thursday morning.

Speaker 6 (14:53):
Here's Cliff, Thank you, Jimmy, sponsored by DNM Auto Leasing.
The Republican led Texas House fails to pass two bill
reform resolutions. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the US
will start revoking visas of some Chinese students and Jimmy,
I know National Burger Day was yesterday, but what a
Burger is bringing back its Pico de Gaio burger next month.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Never had that one.

Speaker 6 (15:17):
This is part of their celebration for their seventy fifth anniversary.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
I hope they aren't taking away the mushroom Swissburger though.

Speaker 5 (15:23):
I just want their Patti Milt.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Get the latest hid you would do on that?

Speaker 6 (15:26):
Get the latest news anytime at KTRH dot com. Our
next update is at five thirty.

Speaker 23 (15:31):
The most important issue, what matters to you concerns me
the most matters to us, the US economy, not a
one K fun Hues Radio.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Seven k t r H. Well, that looks the same
much during the back administraction. Better than the FBI. I mean,
I really shouldn't say that, because there's plenty of great
We've said this many times, many great FBI agents. It's
just that the the the head of the FBI, the
DC staff that was a disaster, and Cash Battel has

(16:03):
got his hands full going through all the evidence of
things that happened during the Biden administration. We were talking
yesterday about how they're going to try to figure out
who left the cocaine at the White House because during
the Biden administration they didn't want to know who did that.
Who leaked the Supreme Court decision, the Roe v. Wade decision.
Who leaked that? Yeah, same thing never found out. So

(16:27):
there's some things that they're going to go back and
they're going to look at the evidence and they're going
to be working at solving them. He was on with
Brett Bair long form interview talking about some of those things,
one of them January the sixth, and says he's found
some new evidence. On January the sixth, Here's Cash Battel
with Brett Baer.

Speaker 24 (16:45):
Former FBI Director Chris Ray eventually admitted to Congress there
were twenty six FBI confidential human sources in around the
Capitol of January sixth, but not actual agents. Can you
say that's true? Are there more than that? What you're
learning from that?

Speaker 25 (17:02):
I can say that that is definitely a piece of
the truth.

Speaker 20 (17:06):
Why it took a ton of time and.

Speaker 25 (17:11):
Questioning in Congress for the director to get that point
is what I'm trying to eliminate from the FBI. If
Congress asked you a question under oath whether or not
there were sources in around January sixth at the Capitol. You,
as the director of the FBI, need to know that
and not deflect and give a DC answer. You have
to be prepared for that. And that's the answer we're giving.
That's the answer Chris Ratio to give them.

Speaker 24 (17:33):
And eventually everybody's going to know the whole picture.

Speaker 25 (17:36):
Yeah, because the American people deserve that. And look, no
one's more frustrated than me. Remember, I was Chief of
staff of the Department of Defense. On January sixth. We
said that we were ready, and the President had previously
authorized the National Guard to be there days in advance.
I spent two years, a small fortune grand juries to
testify to the truth. And what happens now years later

(17:59):
we were right thousand and Pelosi rejected that offer, and
instead of figuring out how to prevent security lapses like
that ever again, the American public spent tens of millions
of dollars and countless hours on TV listening to conspiracy
theories because those in positions of leadership failed to tell
the American public the truth.

Speaker 20 (18:19):
But there is a lot of conspiracy theories out there.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
There are the Epstein.

Speaker 24 (18:22):
Thing you dealt with Maria, you said, as far as
you know, he killed himself.

Speaker 20 (18:27):
I'm telling you he killed himself.

Speaker 24 (18:28):
The other thing on the internet is the Ebstein files.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
What's the answer to that.

Speaker 25 (18:34):
The answer to that is the same as everything else.
I'm not going to withhold information from the American public ever, but.

Speaker 20 (18:42):
I'm also not going to rush.

Speaker 25 (18:43):
To get it out there in a format in which
they can't rely on it.

Speaker 20 (18:47):
So on the Epstein matter or any.

Speaker 25 (18:48):
Other matters, we are diligently working on that, and it
takes time to go through years of investigations, years of
political maneuvering, in years of cover up to get to the
American people what they deserve.

Speaker 20 (19:01):
And that's what I'm going to give them.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
So if cash Ptel tells you that Jeffrey Epstein killed himself,
that he was not murdered, that he killed himself, do
you believe him or do you still suspect fall play
five twenty six. It is time to take a look
at your money. Good morning to you, Jeff Bellinger and
Jimmy good morning.

Speaker 26 (19:23):
Stocks pulled back in midweek trading, with each of the
major averages losing a little more than half of percent,
but positive quarterly results from Menvidia and the federal Trade
Court ruling that blocks most of President Trump's tariffs have
set the stage for a Thursday rally on Wall Street.
Elon Musk says his time as a formal advisor to
President Trump is about over. Musk has openly acknowledged it's

(19:46):
been a challenge to manage his businesses while serving in Washington,
and speaking of Musk businesses, the start of Tesla's robotaxi
service in Austin is reportedly just two weeks off, source
to say the automaker has set June twelve as the
launch date. I'm Jeff Bellinger, Bloomberg Business. I'm News Radio

More of what's happening now from the John Morris Services Studios.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
It's five thirty here on Houston's Bonning News. I'm Jimmy Barrett.
Among our top stories this half hour, the state legislature
refuses to get tough on bail, Lena she could get
primary and coming up at five thirty eight. Would you
go on your honeymoon with your dad? Details in the
minutes ahead. You're in Houston's Bonning News. First, let's check

(20:45):
out that morning drive sky Mike has lots of problems.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
At Snort Freeway outbound at North Maine. That's a total shutdown.
I also see if police lined up right before this,
and then again at Patton. They've shut everything off on
the side streets. You could do the feeder. This is outbound,
not inbound leaving downtown. Nothing good's happening here. It's fatal.
I'll say that five vehicles and for now that's easy
to get around East text West Road. Do you even

(21:09):
have a frontage road? I don't see a frontage road.
At Graham Parkway southbound at West Road. That's a hasmat
spill eighteen wheeler overturn. Let's avoid that with everything you got.
Take two ninety instead.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
I'm in the USA Rvresorts dot Com Traffic Center from
r KTRH Generator Supercenter, twenty four hour weather center. Becoming
mostly Sunday. Today's slack chances with straight shower storm with
the heigh temperature right about ninety. We'll get the latest
on the forecast when we talked to Terry Smith at
the Weather Channel in eight minutes. Right now, temperature is
seventy one at your official severe weather station. News Radio

(21:43):
seven forty k TRH. It's time now for the news.
Here's Cliff Saunders.

Speaker 5 (21:47):
Thank you, Jimmy, five thirty two.

Speaker 6 (21:49):
Our top story is the legislative session winds down in Austin,
a fail for the Republican led Texas House, which did
not pass two pieces of bail reform.

Speaker 27 (21:59):
The bill should have been a bipartisan effort was blocked
by Democrats.

Speaker 28 (22:03):
If you agreed on other proposals that have already been
approved and got bipartisan support, I don't understand how they
could not support.

Speaker 27 (22:11):
This crime victim advocate April Laguire says, this just exposes
the true priorities of the light on crime democrats.

Speaker 28 (22:17):
We've seen more activist legislatures not worried about public safety.
They live in a different side of town where they
don't have to be dealing with these people gery.

Speaker 5 (22:26):
Thanks.

Speaker 27 (22:26):
The tide is turning though, and these light on crime
Democrats are about to be voted out. Ethan Buchanan, News
Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 6 (22:33):
A separate resolution denying bailed to illegal aliens accused of
certain crimes also failed in the House last night. The
vote was eighty seven to thirty nine, so that was
thirteen votes short of the number needed for passage. Also,
an Austin Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick is pushing back on
the criticism over the passing of a ban on THCHC.

Speaker 29 (22:53):
The stories about jobs and mom and Papa said, look,
this is all controlled by the drug industry in California.
They never dreamed we would ban it. They thought they
had hit the gold mine in Texas. And I'm proud
of the Senators and the House members that stood up
and said you're not going to do this in Texas.

Speaker 6 (23:09):
The bill is now headed to Governor Greg Abbott's desk. Meantime,
the proposed budget is setting off alarms for some economist.
Doctor Vancekin says it looks like something out of California,
with all the spending and not enough property tax relief.

Speaker 30 (23:23):
I would say, Governor, I think you should veto this budget.
It's not fascly conservative that you push for for a
decade now in Texas. This is not sustainable and it's
a ticking time bomb that is going to blow up
soon if we don't can control over it.

Speaker 6 (23:37):
Lieutenant Governor Patrick and Houston State Senator Paul Bettencourt, we'll
talk about property tax reform at a news conference this afternoon.

This is Houston's Morning News with Jimmy Barrett.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Do you remember your honeymoons? I said plural, didn't I?
Why did I do that? Just because I've had more
than one honeymoon doesn't mean you've had more than one honeymoon.
I've only had two. We won't mention honey that sky
Mike has had, or where he went or what he did.
But this is an unusual story here, at least I

(27:45):
find it unusual. A woman from Nebraska, her name is
Toby Elder, has gone viral after she posted how she
went on her honeymoon with her dad? What she married
her dad? No, No, that would be illegal to do

(28:06):
that unless it was her stepfather who was divorced who
was not blood related to her. No, it's her real dad.
She was supposed to get married this month, but she
and her fiance broke up two days before the wedding,
so she decided she wanted to go on her honeymoon
trip to Hawaii anyway, and she went solo. But she

(28:27):
got there and felt lonely until her sixty eight year
old dad texted and said he was on the way.
So she posted a video of him walking out of
the airport and broke When your heart broken on what
was supposed to be your honeymoon in Hawaii, So your
dad flies twenty five hundred miles to hang out with you.
Oh well, that's I guess kind of a sweet thing
to do. Here's my question, though, would you go on

(28:50):
your honeymoon if there wasn't a wedding? I mean, I
don't know who paid for it. Maybe she paid for
it herself, in which case I guess that's fine.

Speaker 20 (29:00):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
Maybe she had no insurance on the trip and everything
was prepaid and she had to take it or lose
the money, which case okay, I get it. It costs
a lot of money to go to Hawaiian You wouldn't
want to lose the money. But if you had a
choice of not going and it was supposed to be
your honeymoon, I would think that'd be the last place
you'd want to go. Five forty time for traffic and
weather together. I don't understand the question. How many honeymoons

(29:23):
have you had? Three? Three honeymoons.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
Two of them were in the exact same hotel. That's
an interesting fact.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
I don't was that number one and number two or
is that number one and number three? Two and three?

Speaker 4 (29:33):
We're in the exact hotel which doesn't exist anymore in Galveston.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
In fact, it's something totally different. And that's that it
just happened. You didn't you want to change it up? No,
I'm I mean concerning the second one didn't go so well,
you didn't want to change that.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
The third wife this place, and I'm like, I didn't
even think about it until we were there.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Oh so she picked it. Interesting, they didn't realize when
you got there that you had been there with a wow.

that you may not have heard of yet but you're
likely to hear more about, is the ninety three billion
that's with the b ninety three billion dollars worth of
loans that went out from the Energy Department to businesses
that were not vetted, that had no business plan. They

(33:04):
they were just giving them money. Of course, many of them,
of course Biden cronies and people they're trying to pay
back for, you know, doing good things for the Democrat Party.
Ninety three billion worth. We'll talk to Robert Vermano in

Speaker 3 (34:44):
I live in clear Lake, Humble, reliable KTRH traffic band
weather next on the ten.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
So, in the seventy six days between President Trump's election
and the end of the Biden administration, the Energy Department basically,
and we just found this out from Energy Secretary Christopher Right,
they dropped ninety three billion in loans and commitments during
the final seventy six days. That is more money than

(35:14):
they had loaned out in the previous fifteen years combined.
And the worst part of it all is that very
few of these businesses were vetted in any way, shape
or form. These are no doubt political payouts. Robert Romano joins,
as Americans for Limited Government haven't heard a lot of
talk about this yet, Robert, but I'm suspecting we will
in the day's ahead.

Speaker 14 (35:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 37 (35:34):
The overhe site hearing with Senator Kennedy and Secretary Wright,
I think was very informative, but also very disappointing and
yet not very surprising that lots of loans won out
during the lame duck period after the Biden administration, everyone
knew they were on the way out the door, so
they said, let's spend and loan as much money as

(35:55):
possible to our political cronies in the green energy industry
as possible whatever these sole aror win companies that obviously
the Trump administration was going to defund on their way in.
But what it tells us is that, you know, dose
was right, Department of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk, President Trump,
they were right to want to come in and then

(36:18):
have at the executive re examine all of these federal
contracts that go out. You know, whether it's someone receiving
a loan or someone who's receiving a grant, that these
need to be reviewed and that there needs to be
higher standards to ensure that the people are really people
in some cases, that these businesses are actually going to

(36:38):
conduct the work if they say they were going to,
and I don't think they. I mean, depending on the
terms of the loan, I think you start to get
into contract law about whether you could call these back.
But certainly Congress can act as they're preparing the budget
to and as a matter of fact, and Energy and Commerce,
there's about nine hundred and thirty billion dollars of reduced outlays,

(37:03):
assuming from the tax credits and undoing the inflation reduction
at green subsidies that went out the door to make
sure that no more of those go out the door
in the future. But clearly this is disappointing and there
should be an investigation and if appropriate Justice Department action.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
Yeah, no doubt about it. I know that Stacy Abrams
was one of the names that came up early in
all of this. If you determined it who some of
these other entities are that receive this money, well that
you know.

Speaker 37 (37:32):
We actually were looking at some of this on the
while it was happening. But what we also determined was
that there weren't really spending more money in general out
of the federal government, that there was a lot of
loans and grants and everything. Oh, they're spending more money
than usual at all of these departments, but that when
you looked at the monthly Treasury statement, there wasn't a
dramatic increase in the deficit from what had been previously projected.

(37:56):
So my thought was that at the time was that
this was money that would have been anyways. Then maybe
maybe a few months earlier, a few months later, but
that generally speaking, this money was probably going to end
up going out the door either way. That they had
planned on asking for this money. Now where they fully prepared.
That's a really good question. That's what the investigation will determine. Certainly,

(38:18):
lots of you know former uh you know, you know,
a candidate for office like Stacy Abrams are going to
be CEOs at these companies and organizations who are requesting
grants and loans. That's actually not unusual, but it could
be inappropriate, and it could show that they have an
inside track that uh, it just shows you this is

(38:38):
the way they do business in Washington.

Speaker 27 (38:40):
D C.

Speaker 37 (38:41):
Doze was right. They need to Congress needs to implement
the Doze cut and start stop running for cover when
there's a clear case that we need to cut spending more,
particularly with the CBO report on the on the tax bill.
You know there's about two point three trillion dollars more
of cuts they could make if they wanted to make
it to sit neutral in the CBO's eyes. I bet

(39:02):
you that would help in the House when they need
to pass it again. But we'll see. I think that
it's a disappointing process right now, but I think everything
will work out in the end.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
I hope you're right about that. Elon musk Is. You know,
he's his time is up, he's leaving. I hope the

airports have, them these moving. Walkways have you seen them
where it's just basically it's a belt that's moving and
it goes down the middle of the walkways to the terminal.
Buildings and you get on this thing and you can
either just stand there and let it carry you at
a generally higher rate of speed than you could walk it,

yourself or you can walk it and move really quickly
if you're running a little late for a, flight or
took you too long to get through, security whatever that
case may. Be but it looks like many of the
moving walkways are on their way out at. Airports and
it's not because they're, dangerous although if you're not paying,
attention they can be. Dangerous it's not at they want

to provide for better safety or there's a concern about.
That the problem is they're losing. Business you, know you've
got all these kiosks and all these restaurants in fast
food places and shops that have set up in our,
airports and when people are using these, walkways they skip
right past. Them, see the airport is more concerned about

(01:07:27):
having you stop in stores and spend money than the
art at this point about you getting to your gate,
quickly because that's only main. Ways there's only two ways
that airports can make. Money these related to airplanes and
other revenue, opportunities which is primary retail and concessions at the,
airport which is why they charge a ton for the,
rent which is why prices at the airport are so much.

before we, do that let's Bring On, mike rowe, you
know the dirty. Jobs guy, you know we had the
story Yesterday About president trump wanting to take three billion
dollars that otherwise would have Gone to harvard and spend
it on. Trade Schools Here's mike rowe on the idea

(01:14:27):
of sending that money to. Trade SCHOOLS if i had
to choose Between should harvard get three billion or should
trade schools in? That world obviously the, trade SCHOOLS but
i THINK that i think there's a. Bigger, ISSUE honestly i.

Speaker 40 (01:14:41):
Trade schools are not so different than the elite universities
in the sense that there's some great ones and some
okay ones and some not so.

Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
Great ones we need to means test.

Speaker 40 (01:14:49):
These things what we really need, To do LIKE if
i were king of the world with three, BILLION dollars
i would set up the biggest scholarship fund in the
history of, the country specifically for the, skilled TRADES and
i would build an infrastructure that would allow people to
apply but then be weighed and measured in a way
that the taxpayer felt. Good about, you know if we're
going to give these kids a full ride to learn

(01:15:10):
how to weld or how to be, a plumber.

Speaker 2 (01:15:12):
Let's make sure they really want.

Speaker 40 (01:15:13):
To work AND then i would spend some of that
money making a persuasive case for the jobs that. Actually exist,
the problem in my view right now isn't Too few.
Harvard grads it's a lack of enthusiasm for the. Trade
schools i'm sure they'd welcome, the money but what exactly
would they do with it to change the stigmas and

(01:15:35):
stereotypes that have kept a whole generation of kids from exploring.
These careers that's what has to change if we want
to close the skills gap and address the.

Speaker 2 (01:15:45):
Will, gap well he's got a great, point THERE although
I would i would also say that we may have
a will gap problem in a whole variety of. Different
areas we have a lot of less than fully motor

thirds super majority that. Was needed joscelyn's law would require
judges to deny build individuals accused of violent felonies if

(01:32:19):
they had previously been convicted of or were of unbail for.
Similar offenses that seems like a, no, Brainer right not
enough of a, no, Brainer EVIDENTLY. April l gary. Joined
us she's a crime Victim's. Advocate april very disappointing to say, the, least.

Speaker 36 (01:32:36):
Absolutely but it's also very telling of the climate and
the legislature why it's so important to fulfill, these seats
not Necessarily with, republican people with people that have, common
sense so they're the true profit of the future is gauging.
The past so we are not going After the, walmart,

(01:32:57):
Shoplister right we're going after people that have committed heinous
apps and that they don't want to hold these people
accountable that have a previous conviction is really absurd.

Speaker 2 (01:33:10):
TO me i, Wonder, this, afril because as, you know
the state legislature. Gets Lobbied harris county alone spends five
million dollars lobbying the. State legislature is that where we
can point the finger on this who's Lobbying in austin
to prevent a bill like this? From passing.

Speaker 14 (01:33:27):
This is.

Speaker 36 (01:33:28):
The thing if A individual i liked it official here
did not have support for this, bill publicly then they're
most likely against. It privately we do not hold our
elected officials as accountable as, we should and unfortunately they
just wasn't a big. Enough push we Needed twelve democrats on, each,

(01:33:49):
FILM right i really think that this has to do
with the fact that school choice passed and they were
vary upset, about that so they took it Out. On
texan that's they took.

Speaker 28 (01:33:59):
It out there's a very small percentage of criminals that
prey on, the population and they do not want to
hold those. People accountable their sympathies are with them and
not with potential crime victims in past.

Speaker 2 (01:34:11):
Crime victims the other bill was Sent It Joint resolution,
number one which would have denied bail to a llegal
aliens accused of certain. Violent crimes that, also failed only
got eighty seven votes in favor thirty, nine against well
below the one hundred votes required in the one hundred
and Fifty. Member house that was also Filed As. Joscelyn's
law it's mind boggling to me that her name isn't

(01:34:36):
engraved into every lawmaker's mind when considering something. Like this
when you know what Happened To, joscelyn hungary how can
you possibly say no to? These.

Speaker 36 (01:34:45):
Bills listen as a crime, VICTOM advocate i prioritize parents of.
Murdered children we can't, help everybody but we try to
help the parents of, murdered children because that's every humans
where nightmares to lose. THEIR child i had to break
the news to her while she was making preparations for

(01:35:08):
the funeral home for, her daughter that she would have
to go to court because there was a potential that
these individuals, were, going well they're going to, get bonds
we just didn't know. How low and the judge on
the bench dealing with these two Individuals Is, josh hill
who has a reputation of. Low bonds so to have.

Speaker 28 (01:35:28):
To drag a family to court because these individuals are
entitled to a bond after the heinous acts that, they
committed it's just absolutely.

Speaker 36 (01:35:36):
So, sad now the essence of bond is for an
individual to return. To court these individuals have no. Community
ties one of them had only been here three weeks
and was clearly a. Flight risk so if you're not
going to take those things into consideration to deny those
types of, people bond then who do you want to deny?
Bond too the, answer is these people don't want anybody

(01:35:58):
to be. In jail the reality of it is that
they are individuals that don't believe that people should. Be
incarcerated so we have activist legislatures is what.

Speaker 2 (01:51:47):
All right So The Big beautiful bill perhaps facing an
uphill battle In The United. States Senate Here's Senator ron
johnson explaining what his problems are With A Big.

Speaker 41 (01:51:56):
Beautiful bill Mike, SUNDER scott i. Support present we want
to see. Him succeed do you want To see? America
SUCCEED but i ran in twenty ten as part Of
The tea party movement because we were mortgaging our. Children's future,
back then we experienced our first destice in excess of
a trillion Dollars, under obama but we were fourteen trillion dollars.

(01:52:16):
In debt now we're approaching thirty seven trillion dollars, in
debt And Miss senator scott said over the next, ten
years we'll be approaching sixty trillion. In rhea That's a.
Rosie scenario the CBO's ten year projections says we'll have
twenty two trillion dollars to Our federal depthsit that assumes
tax is, automatically increasing bringing about almost four trillion. Thousand

(01:52:38):
revenue that doesn't. Happen again you can say economic growth can,
replace that but it's also assuming a three point three percent.
Interest rate over that, time period you're seeing industracts move
up as investors are starting to look At The united
states is not particularly a credit, worthy.

Speaker 1 (01:52:52):
Entity so we need to get focused on.

Speaker 41 (01:52:55):
Spending spending i've got a great video on my x
Page Showing president trump committing to a balanced budget and
members of his, administration saying we don't have a, revenue
problem we have a. SPENDING problem i end that video with,
the questions.

Speaker 1 (01:53:08):
So are we willing to?

Speaker 28 (01:53:09):
Fix it?

Speaker 41 (01:53:10):
Right Now the, house bill they're not even scratching. The
surface and it's not even the tip of the iceberg
in terms of what we need to do to return
to a reasonful pre pandemic. Level spending this. Is unprecedented
what's happened from twenty nineteen. To today it's a fifteen,
percent increase unprecedented returning to a reasonable pre. Pandemic, baseline

(01:53:30):
again you just use the metric of what do we
spend in twenty nineteen plus up by population growth, and
inflation use that numbers as, a base and then ask,
tough questions why are we spending a ten percent more?

Speaker 2 (01:53:42):
Than, that yeah that's. The problem we're still spending too
much And the house unwilling to do any more. Cunning
evidently so that doesn't bode well for the future of,
that bill big, beautiful bill unless something. Else Happens, ALL
right a couple of more the sounds that drive, You
crazy it's been our question Of, the day our Talkback
