Speaker 1 (00:03):
It's that time time time, time walking load.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
The Michael Very Show is on the air, Ladies and gentlemen.
Delivering his farewell address to the nation, President Joe Biden.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
I'd like to digress from my prepared remarks to discuss
how I invented the turlet. I needed a new heel
for my shoe, so I decided to go to Morganville,
which is what they call Shelbyville in those days. So
I tied an onionto my belt, which was the style
at the time. Now to take the ferry cosset to Nickel.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
And in those days Nichols.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Had pictures of bumboobees on them.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Give me five piece.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
For recorder, you'd say, now where were we?
Speaker 5 (00:58):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (00:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
The important thing was that I had an onion on
my belt, which was a style at the time. They
didn't have white onions because of the war. The only
thing he could get was those big yellow one.
Speaker 6 (01:14):
Ah.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
There's an interesting story behind this Nickel In nineteen fifty seven,
I remember it was I got up in the morning
and made myself a piece of toast. I sent the
toast the three medium rown. You see, back in those days,
rich men would ride around and Zeppelins dropping coins on people,
(01:39):
and one day I seen J. T. Rockefeller flying by,
so I run out of the house with a big
wash top. Not many people know I owned the first radio,
and Springfield weren't much on the air. Then Gastadison reciting
the alphabet.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Over and over.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Yay, he'd say, dan be. She would usually follow.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
I first took a.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Fancy to missus Bouvier because her raspy voice reminded me
of my old pctrolla.
Speaker 5 (02:18):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
It was a fine machine with a vulcanized rubber listening tube.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
With your cramed in your ear.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
The tube would go in easier with some sort of
lubricant like linseed oil. And that's why today bananas are
called yellow faty beans.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
That was the farewell address to the nation from President
Joe Biden.
Speaker 6 (02:54):
Jim Mud, our creative director, asked me yesterday how much
of Biden's farewell addressed do you want me to cut
up and load for us to play tomorrow? And I said,
not one word. Don't waste a moment of energy. There
(03:14):
wasn't a person in this country glued to the set
waiting to see what old Joe Biden had to say
on his way out. The two most famous farewell addresses
of American presidents, George Washington, of course, and believe it
(03:36):
or not, General Dwight David Eisenhower, who is listed on
all your presidential records as being from Kansas, but he
was born in Dallas. Both of them warned of the
military industrial complex, of the tendency of certain men to
(03:56):
be drawn to power and money and war to end
up in the White House or advising the White House,
and how terrible that turns out to be. But nobody
thought to themselves, well, let's hear what old Joe has
to say on his way.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Out the door.
Speaker 6 (04:18):
You know, I've given a lot of thought to this,
Joe Biden as our prayer. Nobody actually wanted Joe Biden
as president. You got everybody who voted against him and
for Trump, but even the Democrats, he was just a
way for them to keep Trump from being president because
(04:38):
they didn't want a healthy economy, they didn't want to
not be at war, they didn't want to not have
to bail out Ukraine, to the tune of hundreds of
billions of dogs.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
That didn't want that.
Speaker 6 (04:55):
One of the things that's hard for me to explain
and I get this a lot is people can't understand
the why. You know, there's video of Nancy Kerrigan when
Jeff Galuley and his folks bang her on the knee
to knock her out, believing that would that would catapult
Tanya Harding into the position of Olympic skater that she
(05:17):
was supposed to be because Karragan was better than her.
And she's laying on the ground her she fears that
her injury is going to keep her and she just
keeps crying and saying why.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Why, why? Why? There is this sort of.
Speaker 6 (05:38):
Plaintive, confused, frustrated, Why when terrible tragedy befalls you, But
it's clearly because someone intended it. It's not a mudslider,
an avalanchees someone did this. And you hear someone say
(06:01):
why they cannot grasp the why.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
Well, you have to know the why.
Speaker 6 (06:09):
But it's so hard for someone to understand that another
person can be that evil. But failing to understand how
evil people can be is a privilege that you can
ill afford. I'll tell you the story. In a moment,
(06:30):
Missoria County Deputy sheriff named Jesus Varga was trying to
serve a warrant on a thug and this guy. I
could spend the rest of the show talking about this
guy's criminal record is so long and this turd killed him.
So here's a guy. This leaves behind a wife and
(06:52):
three kids. This is an entire family wrecked because this
terd decided he didn't want to go back to prison.
And I've come to the conclusion that it's very important
(07:17):
we all understand because we've got to nail people like
this way earlier in their criminal process, so Thejesus Vargas
don't have to die a seventeen year veteran of law enforcement.
(07:37):
What do you tell those kids? His wife will grieve,
but as adults, we will somewhere find someplace to put that,
some way to process this. They probably talked about it.
If I don't come home. But what do you tell
those kids? And for what good? The turd was killed
(08:00):
in a dumpster. The turd ends up f r D.
Thank God, couldn't we just do that before he killed
a deputy QUC super Chef Michael Barry.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
And a turd.
Speaker 6 (08:36):
They were serving a warrant on a turd yesterday and
Deputy Hey Sus Vargas deputy sheriff from Missouria County. It
was over at Stella Linc. And I believe it was
stell A Lincoln six' ten where it. HAPPENED i got
(09:03):
the news that a law enforcement officer had been, killed
AND i didn't know the details, yet and then as
they started coming, in.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
It's just.
Speaker 6 (09:18):
TERRIBLE i JUST i can't imagine for this family how
awful it.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
Is and there are.
Speaker 6 (09:25):
Turds this five minutes before he kills an. Officer this
turd's walking. Around these guys are At walmart in front of.
You these guys are driving next to. You my wife
and kids Think i'm crazy BECAUSE i now don't want
(09:46):
them to you, KNOW i got two teenage. Boys well
they don't want to leave the house till nine. O'clock
why would we do something during the daytime. Hours hey,
Dad i'm gonna go for a. Drive it's, midnight, Yes. Saturday,
yeah that's when the turds are out and the. Drunks
we got turds and, drunks and sometimes the turds are
(10:07):
drunk and sometimes, well drunks can't just become, turds but
they can engage in turd like behavior at midnight, Well
i'm gonna go To. Chipotle how about we Do chipotle at?
Noon how about? That how about we do It Chipotle
if we need to go for a, drive because they're
(10:29):
my kids AND i like to go for a, drive
how about we do that when it's light, out when
the turds are still sleeping or banging one of their
fifty eight baby. Mamas how about we do that then
and not at midnight when they've all gathered together in
The turdmobile to go out, freaking because that's what they.
(10:53):
Do and granted it's still a little early for, it
because that's usually about two to. Three they wait to
hear all Asleep fox twenty six with The turds rap.

Life she has on multiple, occasions even just recently when
she was In Austin.
Speaker 5 (12:56):
County how do you justify giving someone a peer bond
when they've been to, prison because A pr bond should be,
given you, know to someone who basically is charged with a.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Non violent crime but doesn't have a.
Speaker 5 (13:11):

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Captain to brunch and you.
Speaker 4 (15:37):
AND i voted pall on.
Speaker 6 (15:39):
Home that was back when you went shoes shopping in
the most awful part of the experience because you would
go into the shoe store.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
And there'd be some dude there and.
Speaker 6 (15:54):
That guy had struck out at everything else in, life
and he was a shoe sell and he would be
wearing a short sleeve dress shirt that he bought it
pay less because they had a couple of shirts over
and bad ill fitting dockers and a clip on tie
(16:16):
that was that was square a clip on. Clothed what's
the what's the?
Speaker 4 (16:22):
Term not?
Speaker 6 (16:23):
Corduroy what was? It that thick? Cloth you don't, know,
Man and it was squared off at the. Bottom there's
a term for that. Tie he was wearing that and
he had just come back from his smoke. Break how
DO i know?
Speaker 4 (16:35):
That because he.
Speaker 6 (16:36):
Had always just come back from a smoke.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
Break that's what he. Did he constantly.
Speaker 6 (16:41):
Smoked he just went out back and smoked and then
he came back in and to irritate. You and there you,
were and your mom would take you over there and
you'd pick the shoes and you had to deal with that.
Guy nobody wanted to deal with that. Guy and he
would he would sit down and he had a. Hole
he had kind of a stand up routine that he
did that nobody wanted to hear what you were subjected
(17:02):
to it because your mother had brought you to buy
shoes because school was starting in these penny loaf versus
what you. Needed and he'd tell, you you, know back my,
day we'd put a. Penny you see this right, here
we'd put a penny in. This, well that's, great old,
man BUT i don't want a penny in? Mine could
you Just and you would stand up on that thing
that they had used Since winthrop first came to the
(17:24):
to the, colonies and you stand up on that.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
Thing and it would tell you your. Size and you.
Speaker 6 (17:28):
Were always worried that this thing wasn't accurate because you
weren't standing.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
Right you didn't get it. Right it's like an eye.
Test you're like they're clicking back and. Forth you're like
this or. This hold, on, hold old wait a.
Speaker 6 (17:42):
Minute you're gonna put glasses on me THAT i gotta
wear all, day every day for years into the. Future
and you gave me about point eight seconds per time to.
Look let me look at. Them just slow down for a.
Minute which one you?
Speaker 4 (17:56):
Like this.
Speaker 7 (17:58):
Or?
Speaker 1 (17:58):
This?
Speaker 6 (18:01):
DAMN i can't, Really i'm not. Sure i'm Afraid i'm
gonna get this. Wrong i'm afraid of it to get this.
Wrong because once you got your. Glasses you didn't get
new glasses till you were, forty and here you were.
FOURTEEN i don't do we have to be in a
hurry with?
Speaker 4 (18:18):
This can you hold on them in? IT i don't
know which ONE i like.
Speaker 6 (18:21):
MORE i gotta imagine That i'm going to be wearing
glasses for the rest of my. Life that's all we
can afford is just one pair of. Glasses and you're
going you like this or. Ass there's nobody out there.
Waiting could you just just pause for a minute and
let me think about which ONE i would rather?
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Have so you'd stand up on that dude's on that.
Speaker 6 (18:40):
Same thing that everybody had used, forever and then he'd
pick your, size and then he'd go into, back and
as he would, come he might whistle when he came
out because he had your box's, shoes and he'd come
back out, there and then you'd go to put it.
On and it was always so much nicer at the
shoes store with the shoeman putting their shoe.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
On then it was when you got, home because.
Speaker 6 (19:03):
He had that nice thing where he'd he'd lay that
shoe out and then he'd put the shoehorn in.
Speaker 4 (19:09):
Is that was called, shoehorn and you put.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
Your slide your foot in, there real, nice like you
were being treated like a. King you'd slide your, shoe
your foot in, there and, whoa.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
He'd, say how does that?
Speaker 6 (19:21):
Feel you'd go, fine and your mother would, say, no
walk around and make sure that, fits, because damn. It
once we spend the eight dollars on this pair of,
shoes you're gonna wear. Them you're gonna wear the hell
out of. Them your foot's not gonna be allowed to.
Grow it's just gonna grow into that. Shoe you're gonna
wear this pair of shoes. Forever and so you'd have.
(19:41):
To you did not want to put the other one,
On oh you had. To but he'd be real.
Speaker 4 (19:46):
Nice he do your.
Speaker 6 (19:47):
Shoehorn you put your shoe, on that feels. Good walk
and so there you'd be and people who were in
the store handling their own. Business this also happened At.
Wiener's by the. Way they'd be over on another, rack
and then you'd be the guy walking on the you,
know they'd show you kind of the runway through the,
store the way they were laid, out and your job
(20:09):
was to go for a walk and everybody would watch.
You and so you're wearing shorts and A t shirt
and dress shoes aka penny, loafers and there you were
in your penny loafers and you would be required to
walk and everybody be watching to see.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
How and then you'd come.
Speaker 6 (20:26):
Back it's just LIKE i told you WHEN i first
put him. On they fit, now can we, leave? Please
and that was the shoe. Salesman AND i don't know
what the SHOES i don't know what the shoe salesman.
Became like there was a day that there were there
was a guy in the shoe, store and that's who he.
Speaker 4 (20:46):
Was everybody knew that guy when you walked.
Speaker 6 (20:49):
In that guy had to look like he smoked eighty
five thousand cigarettes in his, life and he looked like
he's craving a cigarette right. Now he kind of had
that smoker's call off at all, times and his lip
for kind of pursed and, dry like he could use
a cigarette right, now and the minute y'all checked. Out
sometimes he'd Ask susan if she'd handle the, checkout and he'd, go, Uh,
(21:12):
susan can you handle?
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Something and he slipped to the.
Speaker 6 (21:14):
Back he spoke a cigarette right there real quick because
he had just sold a pair of, shoes so he
was good for a couple. Hours as far as the
big bosses were. Concerned he had a sale on his,
record so you, know as far as they, knew he'd
be working for a. While so he had done. It
he's ready to have a. Cigarette and then one day
there weren't those people. Anymore one day you just didn't
(21:35):
have shoe salesman. Anymore AND i really don't know what
became of the shoe. SALESMAN i, mean we could do
a study and find. Out you, KNOW i was at
Pay last for seventeen years AND i wasn't ready to,
retire and and then and THEN i just you, could
(21:55):
you could find out what happened to those. Guys what
you don't know is the people who would have in
any other economy and time have become the shoe. Salesman
and you don't know whatever, became like what did those
people go into?
Speaker 4 (22:12):
Doing, Right it's.
Speaker 6 (22:14):
The same thing as the guy who wore the apron
at the quarterdeck or whatever you called your local. Arcade
you had the guy who was twenty, three burned, out
smoked a lot of, dope but had to get a,
job and he dropped out of everything and he managed
the local, Arcade, like what did those guys going to?
Speaker 5 (22:36):
Do?
Speaker 4 (22:36):
Right AM i sticking?
Speaker 2 (22:38):
To?
Speaker 4 (22:40):
Who AM i sticking?
Speaker 3 (22:40):
To Michael?
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Berry Michael?
Speaker 3 (22:43):
Barry?
Speaker 4 (22:44):
YEAH i do enjoy your.
Speaker 8 (22:45):
Show it is.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
THEN i got more self control at fifty.
Speaker 6 (22:52):
Four but nine year Old michael had to excuse himself
for about three minutes just thinking About Crystal, giral just
hearing her.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
Voice, fine, goodness all live and back.
Speaker 6 (23:12):
Then i've changed since, then but back THEN i would
have had to share with.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
You you, know that's little red alan such.
Speaker 6 (23:19):
Because IF i had back, Then i've changed a, Lot
but back, then IF i had a little nugget of,
INFORMATION i would BE i don't feel the need to
share it with.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
You you see.
Speaker 6 (23:29):
What, michael how come you to make fun of shoe?
Salesman my daddy was a shoe. Salesman that doesn't make.
ANYTHING i, said. Untrue i'm, sorry, OKAY i just call
them LIKE i see, them balls and.
Speaker 4 (23:44):

Speaker 6 (23:45):
It it's not my, FAULT i swear it.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
Is apparently that was called a sock. Tie have you
heard that?
Speaker 6 (23:53):
Term it's called a sock. TIE i had one of
those ties that heavy. Cloth uh kind of, yeah that
was a. Deal that was a. DEAL i.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
REMEMBER i didn't know.
Speaker 6 (24:08):
Because we'd have, to you, know you have to wear
a tie for a funeral as a, kid and you,
KNOW i had my red clip on because that kind
of worked for. Everything AND i didn't know when it
first started that you, know eventually.
Speaker 4 (24:22):
You were gonna have to tie your.
Speaker 6 (24:23):
Tie AND i, REMEMBER i don't, know probably sixth grade
BEFORE i, remember all, right you gotta learn to tie.
Tie and then you just see there was your tie
laid out and somehow you were going to put that
thing into A i couldn't. Imagine and my dad could
(24:45):
tie a. Tie AND i remember, thinking WHO i bet
WHEN i get, Older i'm gonna know how to do.
Everything i'm gonna know all the things in life that
are to learn. That but right, Now i'm just in sixth.
Grade i'm just a little. Fella i'm just getting off
on cri. Gale i'm not ready to tie a. Tie,
nope you're going to tie your. Tie and that was. Back,
(25:09):
see we didn't have any professionals in my, family so
there was nobody in my. FAMILY i didn't have a,
relative it didn't matter how far off you. WENT i
did not have a relative that wore a tie to
work in my, life so it wasn't like you, know my.
(25:30):
Kids for YEARS i wore a. Tie of, course by
the time my kids came, ALONG i was out of the.
Typhase but they've seen me put on a. TIE i
can put on a tie While i'm. DRIVING i wore
a tie every day as a, lawyer city, councilman business,
owner and even WHEN i started in, RADIO i was
the only one that.
Speaker 4 (25:47):
DID i wore a. Tie but not, Now, no. SIR
i come in in.
Speaker 6 (25:53):
House shoes and, shorts AND i kicked the shoes off
the MINUTE i get in, here AND i rubbed my
neked feet on the. Carpet AND i wear a shirt
that hadn't been washed in three. Days and my wife,
says that thing stands up on its.
Speaker 4 (26:04):
Own put it in the.
Speaker 6 (26:05):
Washer BUT i wasn't used to watching somebody wear a,
tie the idea of somebody wearing a. Time in, fact
the first RELATIVE i ever had that wore a, tie
now THAT i think about, it was my second. COUSIN
i think that's what you call, it my mother's Cousin Forest.
(26:26):
Glenn What's Forest glinn's. Rigby i'm trying to remember what
his last name. Is everybody on my mother's side went
by two. Names Forest glenn's last name Was. OOH i
