Speaker 1 (00:00):
There is a story that hits the day that the
evacuation and emergency preparedness plan at Camp Mystic was approved
two days before the tragedy, and of course that raises
(00:25):
questions as to whether there was proper plan. I received
a lot of emails from people just spitballing ideas, and
I think it comes from a good place. We all
wish every one of these little girls had survived. That's
what we all wish. We all wish that anyone who
perished would have survived. And out of that, engineers have
(00:51):
ideas on engineering or problem solving or any number of
different workarounds and fail safe preparedness, and when this goes out,
do this. I've heard every idea in the book, from
simple things like why didn't every cabin have a life
(01:14):
vest for every person in their plus some so that
very quickly those could I don't know. I don't know.
Maybe they did, I don't know. With regard to evacuating,
I've heard a lot of theories as to the kids
should have been evacuated, and maybe they should have. I
(01:37):
don't know what your backup plan is. For My understanding
is you had about eight hundred people there, so if
you did evacuate. Considering how fast moving this storm was,
you would have had to evacuate it pretty early. And
(01:57):
that's not to say that you couldn't charge the parents
a deposit. You know, there's an extra three it's five
thousand dollars for the camp. There's an extra three hundred
dollars deposit here. And should we need to evacuate your
kid due to a storm, we hope it will never happen,
but it happened back in eighty seven. This covers the
(02:19):
hotel that we have a standing ability to put a
bunch of kids in there. You could put ten kids
in a room. It's not like we're trying to be
comfortable here. We're just trying to survive. All of those
things and one hundred other ideas are, in my opinion,
worth having, worth investigating, worth considering, looking at ways to improve,
(02:44):
and holding people accountable has to be done. It absolutely
has to be done. If Camp Mystic made mistakes, then
the entity has to be held accountable. Dick Eastland has
passed beloved figure by all accounts, but there is still
a corporate entity or some sort of a structure and
(03:05):
that has to be held accountable. The sheriff says he
wasn't notified until between four and five am, and the
storm had risen over twenty feet at that the river
had risen over twenty feet at that point, and at
one fourteen the heavy flooding began. Would seem odd that
(03:27):
it took almost four hours for the sheriff be notified.
The fire chief in Austin is being called out by
the Austin Fire Union that he refused to send firefighters
to help the local, the county, the state, the federal response.
(03:50):
All of those things should be reviewed on a timeline.
Who responded, how did they respond, Who made decisions, who
said sind and how much to send? Who assessed the damage?
What did they assess it to be? Was that accurate?
Where they trained? Were they in a position? Was communication sent?
Was every step taken to alert? It was a fast
(04:12):
moving storm. All of these things, as unpleasant as it is,
as it is, have to be considered. However, there is
a time and place for everything. My friend is the
mayor of a little community called Hunter's Creek, beautiful little
(04:36):
bedroom community somewhere about Voss and Memorial, and I think
it runs on both sides of Voss. But if you
know kind of where Second Baptist Church is. I think
it's sort of north and east of Second Baptist Church.
If you didn't know you were in Hunter's Creek, and
(04:58):
you didn't look at the street signs, which is only
you'd know it, you'd think you were still in Houston,
because if you're driving along, you're in here, whether you're
eastbound or westbound, you're in Houston, and then for a
minute you're in Hunter's Creek, and then you're in Houston again.
So you've got several of these little villages Hillshire, Spring Valley,
(05:20):
Piney Point, Hunter's Creek, Hedwig Village, Bunker Hill, in much
the same way that you have bel Air over south
there at six' ten and about Bel, air and then
you've Got West university in South side place over closer
to The Med. Center you have these little communities inside
(05:42):
the city Of houston because they want better city, services especially.
Police and so, anyway the mayor there told me that
one of the little, girls they finally they finally discovered
her body. Yesterday and it was a cruel twist of
fate BECAUSE i have mutual friends with this family that
(06:04):
they kept getting news that that their daughter had been
rescued and they were waiting at the, church and then
the rescue never. Came and imagine the emotional roller. Coaster
you've got the first call that your baby girl is in.
(06:25):
Danger there's. Flooding, well most people's reaction would, be that's,
okay our little girl will be, okay but thanks for
letting us. Know let's let's let's. Overreact but we're we
know we're. Overreacting and then you start finding out how
bad the flooding is and that this, this this isn't
dramatic little, girls this is life and. Death and then
(06:49):
the early deaths are, confirmed so there are children who
have died. Here now you're. Overwrought you're not there, yet
you're us, stated but you're holding out. Hope and at
this point you have a lot of. Hope your hope
reservoir is. Full and then as more and more kids
(07:11):
and you know these, Kids you've grown up, with these,
kids they've grown up In pooh corner or faith school
or local church or softball or cheer or. Whatever you,
know the, mothers you know the, kids you know the,
fathers you know all of. It and so over a
period of, time, well let me just conclude by saying
(07:32):
The Memorial Police department over there had to run the
media off the front lawn of these. People my point,
is the media and the investig give it a. Minute
let the people. GRIEVE i was just watching a video
Of Stacy, abrams who got rich off of being a
(07:52):
candidate for public office In georgia even though she, lost
and then she got money from the government for this
sort of non profit entity things she. Had there are
accounts that it is as much as over two billion.
Dollars this is. Crazy she served as this sort of
(08:19):
black woman Token canada for a statewide, office all the
money in the world pouring, in mostly by white, liberals
and we're being told constantly that this is we. Need
we need women of color in. Leadership in every single
one of them is a combination between, stupid incompetent and a,
(08:47):
crook and you end up with some of. These look
At Karen, bass the mayor Of Los. Angeles she is
that dangerous combination between really dumb and really really, corrupt
and you see what happens as a. Result you got
the guy In chicago who could have thought that you
(09:10):
could be worse than, beetlejuice and he is and the
stuff he, SAYS i, mean it's it's, Crazy Muriel. Bowser
you get you get these mayors in In philly and In,
atlanta and And baltimore And, Detroit chicago And New york
(09:30):
and L a And New, orleans and they are, black
now black, women that's the big. Thing and they can't
stream together a sentence and they're screeching all the, time
just just loud and, disorganized and it's it's like this.
(09:54):
Game you end, up you, know they end up having
a tragedy in their community and you end up finding
out fire chief is some left handed lesbian missing her
left foot who dropped out of high school to lord
knows what and has never worn a fire department. Uniform
(10:15):
oh but she's a left handed lesbian first mayor to.
Qualify under all of this, stuff you just see that
cities are, COLLAPSING i mean absolutely. Collapsing it's like somebody's
going in and cutting the. RAFTERS i had a classmate
(10:38):
in college Named mark, McKillop And mark was older than
the rest of us because he had been A New
york FIREFIGHTER i THINK. Nypd and he went into a
fire and the owner had clipped the rafters so that
(10:58):
when the fire, started the roof would collapse and he'd
have one hundred percent. Loss there are various versions of
lightning that this is referred to as different groups of
people depending on who somebody doesn't. Like but the point
is insurance fraud through arson is not so, uncommon and
(11:22):
the firefighters didn't know when they train the fire has
been burning for this amount of, time there should be
this amount of time for the roof before it, collapses
and my Buddy mark McKillop had no idea that the
rafters had been cut to maximize. Damage so the roof
falls on and breaks his. Back he uses the settlement
(11:45):
he got from THE nypd as pretty. GOOD i, MEAN
nyfd has a pretty good program for all, this and
so he's going to get whatever it, is forty fifty
thousand dollars for the rest of his. Life and he, decides,
well it's a lot cheaper down In. TEXAS i want
to start AN i want to go finish my college,
degree and so he. Did came To city Of, houston
(12:07):
went to The university Of, houston and we had a
really good newspaper. THERE i worked there selling ads my
first year at. College it's Called The Daily. COUGAR i
don't know if it's any good, anymore but back then
it was. Wonderful and he was the lead. Columnist And
i'm going to tell you SOMETHING i grew. Up some
of you probably did as. Well did you read a
(12:28):
columnist growing? UP i Read Mike royko And stories of
The Billy Goat tavern In, Chicago AND i Thought Mike
royko was a start and. FINISH i would Read, ROYKO
i would Read WILLIAM. F, BUCKLEY i would read Deer,
ABBEY i would Read Anne Landers, Lake Wolbegun, Days Garrison. Keeler,
(12:58):
Anyway Mark killop was in this line of. WRITERS i
don't know why he stopped. Writing he was. Fantastic Had
i'd be in peels of laughter every week when his
column would come. Out it was like this professional superstar,
columnist but in the, local but in the in the community. Paper.
ANYWAY i brought all that up to tell the story
(13:19):
about damage was, maximized which is why he ends up
breaking his back despite his training of of what we
were doing, There, jim what WAS i talking about THAT
i got off on that? Maximized oh, oh these elected,
Officials so The Stacey abrams type. People they just Keep
(13:42):
Lena hudoggos one of. These they just keep putting them out.
There AND i get emails every day for people, Say,
MICHAEL i just can't believe this person said, this and
it's aoc or Ilhano. OMARA i am more bothered by
that statement THAN i am the stupid statement that has
(14:02):
upset the. Person the people who, say, Well texas got
what they, wanted That texas got what they. Deserve those
little white, girls the people who say evil things like,
THAT i hate, That BUT i spend more sleepless time
worrying about the EMAILS i get from people who, say
(14:28):
how can they say? THAT i just wonder when a
family gets taken over by the cartels and they're being
executed one by, one how far into the process someone,
says they really don't seem like they're really nice. PEOPLE
(14:48):
i don't think they're here to help us clean the house.
UP i guess none of us are doing our. Job
maybe we screech too, Much maybe it's chicken, Little maybe
there's too much, Noise maybe people are numb to. It
IF i could just get people to, understand you don't
(15:09):
have an honest disagreement With Stacy. Abrams you don't have
an honest disagreement with who is A buddha gig Or
Barack obama Or Sheila Jackson lee or That democrat in
(15:30):
the office that you kind of halfway. Like you don't
have an honest disagreement with these. People they will have
you believe that because that keeps you coming back for,
More that keeps you from firing, them that keeps you
from from boycotting, them that keeps you From you're gonna
have to understand these people are, Monsters they're. Devils and
once you understand, that nothing they say will ever affect.
(15:52):
You and what makes this particular devastating flood painful for
so many THAT i know is the personal connections to
the people. Involved it is very natural to feel a
deeper level of grief for someone you know than someone you.
(16:19):
Don't it is very natural to fill a deeper level
of grief for someone who lives near you or has
shared experiences than someone you. Don't anyone who tells you
there's anything wrong with that is someone you should suspect
(16:43):
of something. Deeper when you hear these angry black women
who've taken to social media and they are saying things about,
well it's because these are white. Girls is a white
girl's uses is a white? Girls what they are revealing
(17:03):
on a very deep level is that they do not
feel connected to. You whether you feel connected to them
is a different, question but they are, revealing they are
screaming out they do not feel connected to. You and
without going too deep into the psychological study of these
(17:26):
types of, people which is a worthy, ENDEAVOR i will
tell you what they're screaming out not realizing is they feel.
Other they feel unloved in their. Minds you think of
them as a, dog but a mangy, dog not a,
(17:52):
cute cuddly, dog a gutter, rat a, snake a, word
depending on the. Person what they are manifesting and expressing
is a deep self. Loathing deep self. Loathing so when
(18:15):
you say to, yourself and many people will ask, me
why would this person say? This it's very important when
you ask yourself why ilhanomer aoc Or Sadie perkins Or
Christina probes or any of these other. People and this
isn't limited to non waite, girls by the, Way but
(18:36):
when you ask yourself why would they do? That you
need to always add another sentence to. That why would
this person do that BECAUSE i would never do. That
why does this person feel such hatred BECAUSE i don't
feel the. Hatred why does this person make everything into
(18:57):
politics when little girls have? Died WHEN i don't do?
That and then you're going to be able to answer
your own. Question you don't need to ask, it you
don't need to, wonder you don't need to be. Confused
it's not a it doesn't require any. Analysis it's very.
Simple you. Know one of the few areas my wife
(19:20):
AND i will. Disagree it's my, belief and this is
a man. Thing is when we make a, decision where
are we? Going are we going to buy? This are we?
Not are we going to visit this? Person or are
we going to make this? Decision are we going to
tell our child yes or? No this is something they.
Want my belief is when you make the, decision you
(19:40):
mo on and her belief is the next, morning, well you,
KNOW i was thinking we're. DONE i don't have the
bandwidth to revisit. Things i've got fifty DECISIONS i got
to make. Today and in order to be What GEORGE.
W bush called the, decider in order to be a
person and who is, decisive not engaged in paralysis by.
(20:04):
ANALYSIS i have to make a, decision live with, it
and move. On that is a man. Thing women typically
are not as good at doing. That and she's not
a girly, girl but she has more of a lawyer's,
mind WHICH i don't. Of, well let's, consider, YES i
agree that that's seventy two percent likely, Outcome but let's
(20:25):
talk about the component pieces of the other twenty eight.
Percent there's maybe a six. Percent, no, no, no, no, No i'm.
DONE i picked a seventy. Two we're moving, forward going.
Winward let's set. Sail so once you begin to process
that people are a certain, way and that spending a
(20:49):
lot of time trying to understand why they're that, way
when the only tools you have at your disposal are
your own, emotions you begin to understand that person is
other than, You they are different from, you and you
can't change. That, ever you can't fix, Them you can't
(21:15):
empathize them to. Reasonableness you don't know how they got
where they. Are if there's a guy that's murdered the
ninety nine people in front of, you one by, one
is a serial, killer and here you are a number
one hundred and you just watched what he. Did you
don't go wait a second before you let me think
(21:35):
about how You, no, no you UNDERSTAND i got to
kill him or get out of, here fight or. Flight right.
Now you learn to deal with these people in this.
Manner you can't overthink. It you understand they've had different
inputs than you. Did you went To Sunday, School Royal,
ambassadors church, Camp Revival, college or the mill. Terry you.
(22:01):
Work you get up every morning when you don't want.
To your parents told. You you get, Up you do.
It you finish the. Job when all those little things
that dad told you if it's worth, doing is work doing?
Right do it, now don't wait till. Tomorrow don't. Procrastinate
all those little things you didn't think much. Of all
of those were little chips into the sculpture that is
(22:23):
who you. Are each one was a little, bang a little,
cut little dust, off little. Carved each one of those
was carving into who you. Are, well that person didn't get.
That if you show up on the football field and
you're able to take the football and run ninety nine
yards for a, touchdown it's because you went through two
a days in summer, camp and you ate less and
(22:44):
worked out more and sweated and worked through it and
built your lung. Capacity it's the same way you were
able to scale the mountain or run a. Marathon when
the next guy shows, up you're out there to run
the marathon and you've run ten practice marathons before. That
and he shows up and he only makes it a,
mile and he keels over and complains that you ran
the marathon because you, cheated and it's not fair and
(23:06):
it's not, right and you don't know his, story but
you begin to understand he didn't prepare for a, marathon no,
diet no, training no lung, capacity he didn't put the miles.
In so, no he's not running the. Marathon he's not
going to get the ribbon you. Are he's not going
to get the sense of accomplishment you. Are so how
(23:27):
much time are you going to devote to listening to
him say that the only reason you finished a marathon
and he didn't is because you had a head, start
you're a bad, guy you, cheated or whatever. Else there
comes a point for your own level of mental. Health
BECAUSE i do think there are a lot of people
(23:47):
in our listening audience and in THE maga, movement who
are unhinged and unbalanced over the frustration that The left
has dug you through and you don't even realize they're doing.
It you got to take back control of your own
mind and your own. Life it was on this. Day
(24:09):
you remember what year That Ferris Bueller's Day off hit.
Theater go back in your, mind see if you can
remember about what grade you would have been, in about
what year that would have. Been it's easy for me
(24:30):
to calculate things like that BECAUSE i was born in,
seventy so if something happened in eighty, two this didn't
come out in eighty. Two something happened in eighty, two
ALTHOUGH i was, twelve sixth. Grade the only problem IS
i was born in late Seventy november tenth of, seventy
so it's not actually. Accurate but it's been far enough
(24:53):
now THAT i can say it nobody. Cares but WHEN
i was, younger you couldn't calculate exactly on that. Basis
but it's easy when you're born on a zero, YEAR
a sixty fifty sixty seventy eighty ninety two thousand and
the like my Niece rucci was Born september, eleventh nineteen
(25:13):
Ninety but you don't want to be born On september.
Eleventh it's taken a long time in her life to
where you, know the day of her birth is a
day of, celebration because nine to eleven in this country
is the year that this movie That Ferris Bueler's Day
off with this song debuted was nineteen eighty. Six Matthew
(25:38):
broderick famously lead a parade through the downtown of a
city as this song was. Plagued remember what that city, was, Correct,
timbo it Was. Chicago the song would have renewed interests
from a new generation that twenty years after it was
(25:59):
popular and would return again to the. CHARTS i have
not talked about it on this. Show we will probably this,
evening but ice agents have been fired on a lot,
lately And Tom homan has made the, point of course they.
(26:23):
Have you're creating this. Atmosphere WHAT i don't abide is
how this is being talked about as if this is
a political. Issue you are shooting at someone period end of.
(26:45):
Story we don't care that you have some manifesto that
you've written or. Read we don't care if you've been
inspired By Saul olenski's rules for. Radicals we don't care
if this is your way of drawing attention to your
Political you are firing on a person. Unprovoked that is
(27:08):
a tempted, murder, period end of. Story if we want
to play hate crime, GAMES i suppose we can aggravate the.
Charges elevate the charges because you're shooting them for an
ideological political. REASON i, mean if shooting someone because you
(27:28):
don't like their skin color makes it much worse than
just shooting at, someone which is the dumbest. LODGE i,
mean what is the logic of. That IF i walk
up to a black man and punch him in that
face and SAY i don't like that you're black and, all,
bam that is somehow a much worse crime than IF
(27:50):
i walk up to a white guy and SAY i
don't like that you're white and. All that's the dumbest. Thing.
Ever both of them both have a cracked, Skull both
of them have suffered the mental and physical pains of an.
Attack but one attack is worse because my head was
(28:15):
in the wrong. Place this gets to the bigger issue
that must be resisted with everything you, have and that
is the constant mind warp being played out on you that,
somehow if you're a white, man punching a black man
(28:37):
is a much worse thing than punching a white. Man
why why are they not both equally. Bad it's the
same mindset that says a black fellow can, say we're
going to support the black fellow because he's a black,
fellow and we want black people to represent black. People
so we're all going to support the black, guy and
you white people should support him, too because you're all
(28:59):
raised and we need the black guy to represent, us not.
You but you should vote for him because you should
feel guilty because you're a bad person and we're. Not
now vote for the black. Guy, okay how about now we, say,
hey white, people there's more of us than, them let's
vote for the white. Guy the point is not that
(29:20):
people would then. Panic the point is why we should. Care,
okay panic. Away When dodge or When ford introduces a new,
Product chevy, says oh it's not very. Good well, go my.
God you can't say you have a good product. Anymore
they'll always say it's not any. Good you, go, yeah
of course they. Do that's their. Job, well that's the
(29:41):
job of people trying to win the culture, wars the political,
wars control the, money the, power the. Influence they're gonna
use whatever tools are at their. Disposal you can be
mad at them for. That you should be mad at.
Yourself you should be analytical and have the, perspective have
the mindset as to why on earth DO i keep
(30:02):
letting these people suck me into the. Guilt it was
such a cultural bell weather moment when Rush limbaugh was
asked for one thousand words FOR I think it was
time magazine to hit the newsstands just As Barack obama
(30:25):
was being, inaugurated because The Black, messiah or as The
Los Angeles times wrote in an, Editorial barack The Magic.
Negro there was this idea that this was going to
solve all Of america's. Problems nobody would need to feel guilty.
Anymore we would all be so proud we could have
this ritual that we had a black president and this
was what we were waiting, for and we had finally
(30:47):
achieved the top of the. Pyramid and they asked different
people in his first black, president let's go to Rush.
Limbaugh and so they asked Rush limbaugh for a thousand
words on, that and he, SAID i don't need to do.
THAT i can make it very. Simple three, WORDS i,
hope four, WORDS i hope he. Fails oh my. God,
well the magazine had what they, needed which was. Controversy
(31:10):
if you Loved, obama then you're furious At. Limball you
gotta buy it and read. It if you Hated, obama
then you're super proud Of. Limbaugh so you got to
buy the magazine and read. It the point is to
sell the. Magazine the point is to get the magazine.
Doctor we're stillalking about to this. Day but the idea
was That limbaugh was a bad. Person rush was a
(31:32):
bad person for SAYING i hope he. Fails it is
constant that people say they Hope Donald trump. Fails that's
not a. Controversy they shot him in the. Head This
sunday will be a year since they shot him in the.
Head and worse than, that talk about the ultimate, gaslight
(31:52):
The jedi mind. TRICK a number Of democrats and members
of the media said he wasn't actually even. Hit what's
that blood? Everywhere what's the hole in his? Here, oh
we don't even think he was. It he was shot
in the, head and they denied. IT i, mean think about.
That but let me conclude by saying. This the news
(32:15):
will be the news, tomorrow the next, day the Next
it's designed to incite you and excite you and engage
you and enrage. You and that's. Fine if you need
that adrenaline push go. Ahead there are things that should
draw your, attention that should anger, you that you should
take action. On but just remember, this at the end
(32:35):
of the, day this game will go on long after you're.
Dead live your. Life understand there are people whose job
it is to say stupid, things to provoke you to
advocate for someone. Else be proud of who you. Are
pick your own winners and. Losers make your, decision and
enjoy your. Life
