Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Weekend Podcast. A reminder if you get
our show in the evenings wherever you are across the country,
if you're not in Texas, you probably don't get our
morning show. We do three hours in the morning in
addition to the show you hear in the evening. It's
a different show altogether. Now we will occasionally replay an
audio bit, mostly we don't. We do a lot more
(00:20):
parodies and fun stuff, and we get a little more
risky on the morning show. That's true because our audience
on our morning show has been with us for twenty years,
so we get to do more of FM morning show
formatics and fundamentals and fun. And it's not morning Zoo,
mind you, but we have a little more fun and
I sometimes we'll make some jokes with double on tantra.
(00:44):
So shall we say, all right, just to remind you,
that's three hours a day, five days a week, fifteen
hours more Michael Barry's show. Some of it's Houston related,
but a lot of it is of more sort of
less Fox Newsy stories and more sort of funny stories
of people in the news, or like a woman chasing
(01:06):
another woman down because she didn't deliver her wings on time,
her chicken wings and she wanted her to know that. Yeah, yeah,
that happened. So anyway, just remind you there's a lot
of our content out there, and maybe more than you
know about, and what the heck you might enjoy it.
The Michael Arry Show in a week where trainees were
(01:26):
on display, and we all realize if you didn't already,
stop stop with the cutting the wieners off, stop with
the trying to make girls into boys. Minnesota Attorney General
Keith Ellison was bragging about how his office has sued
the Trump administration multiple times over gender affirming care. Oh,
(01:46):
that's something to be proud of.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Have we forgotten about our Texas dem standing up so bowld,
so brave, so powerful, and even US Democratic ags have
sued this dude forty four times, and we'll sue him
forty four more and forty four more after that. And
(02:09):
we have sued them for gender affirming care. Yes, we
are not going to scape go to our transgender community.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
And we have.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Sued him to stand up for medical research National Institute
of Health, and we have sued him for birthright citizenship,
and we have sued him to protect our environment, and
we will suit him every day and all the time,
and we will be unrelenting and I want you to
know that.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
And there was tampon Tim right there in front of everybody,
bragging that his state is a safe haven for trannies. Yeah,
we know that's who's killing us.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
I will have to tell you. I saw a statistic
came out today is Minnesota ranks the highest per capitable
for being a safe haven for transgender individuals in Minnesota.
And can I just say, we can talk about economic
growth and feeding children and growing the economy and creating
jobs simultaneously with talking about everybody's human rights matters and
(03:08):
we shouldn't be animalizing.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
And then he went on a weird rant. You wonder
about this. This is a guy that has jazz hands on him, hey,
every high and he goes on a really weird rant
about how easy it must be to be a Republican.
It reminds me of what's the guy's namer moment ran
for president. He was a doctor, Howard, He was the
(03:32):
governor of Vermont, you remember him. And he had the scream,
We're gonna go to Kansas and then we're gonna go
to Missouri and then we're gonna go to Texas. Then
we're gonna Louise Nay. Yeah, you remember that it was
a scream that ended his career. Has dog what was
his name? Howard looked that up for me.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
We are strong because we challenge each other. We are
strong because we're held accountaball. We're strong because we believe
that there's a place for everyone here. Think of how
easy it would be to be a damn Republican. Oh
what should I wear today? This stupid freaking red hat.
What should I say today? I don't know. Just make
sure it's cruel. Who do we listen to that guy? Oh,
(04:11):
the felon in the White House? Yeah, listen to him
and that will be fine. Now he's talking about burning flags.
He's gonna have flag burning or whatever because he knows
there's a hell of a lot of flags with his
picture on it that are gonna get burned. There's a
whole lot of that kind of crap that people are
sick of.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
And I have to tell you.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
We can have our internal decision making, our internal healthy debates,
but I refuse to believe we do not have the
luxury to fight amongst ourselves. Why that thing sets in
the White House.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
And then this week Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee. She wants
you to know that she's the first black female mayor
of Oakland, as if that matters, and that her top
priority is to make sure her police department does not
cooperate with ICE. Oh, why would you want to cooperate
with ICE? You certainly don't want to lower the You
wouldn't be Oakland anymore if you did.
Speaker 5 (05:03):
Oakland is in the House. Now. Oakland is a community
that fights for democracy every day, and it's one that
I'm honored to represent. As I approached my first and
one hundred days as mayor, and I just happened to
be Oakland's first black woman mayor. Now, y'all know the
(05:30):
science of authoritarianism cannot be ignored. And so I want
to just take a minute to thank California Democrats led
by Governor Newsom, all right, and I want to thank
Texas Democrats for standing strong. I was born in Texas,
Proud California. Together we are leading the fight to protect
(05:54):
our democracy. Now, Donald Trump, you know he trashed Oakland,
he lied about us. But Oakland is not afraid. We
embrace all residents, including our immigrant communities. Our police do
not cooperate with us.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
We don't.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
And then here's this woman. Her name is Insha Raman.
I don't know who she is. She's with the Vira Institute.
And she said carjackings and migrant crime that doesn't matter
to Americans. Uh, tuts I got news. I don't know
how long you been here, but you don't know what
Americans care about. Do you know why Donald Trump's so
popular because he's dealing with the illegals and he's dealing
(06:38):
with the crime and corruption.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Yes, crime is coming down, but don't let Trump take
credit for it. It's going down in spite of him
and because of democratic leadership like mine. That is the
phrase you want to use. Don't be afraid of the
crime debate. Lean all the way in, call out what
Trump is doing, and say the reason crime is going down,
our communities are becoming safer is because of us. You
(07:02):
can see. You want to talk about the crime issues
voters care about. Where does Trump go? Migrant crime, carjackings,
the really lurid, awful stuff. That is a crazy, crazy visual.
Don't take the bait because most Americans are more worried
about how are we going to address mental health issues?
The visible homelessness that we see on streets, and how
(07:25):
do we deal with mental health and other issues that
drive the sort of random incidents that.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Scare all of us.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
That's what you should be talking about. That's where you
should be focused. Don't take the bait and talking about
migrant crime or carjackings or the things that actually don't
matter to that many Americans.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
And then there's you know, some of these Democrats are
really trying to stoke the civil war. They really are.
This is a chairman of the Democrat National Committee. He
said he is sick and tired of his party bringing
a pencil to a knife fight. They're desperately trying to
set off a civil war, and I got news for them.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
They're gonna I'm sink and tired of this Democratic party
bringing a pencil to a knife fight. We cannot be
the only party that plays by the rules anymore. We've
got to stand up and fight.
