Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right. I'm back. Oh what's happening everybody?
Good Saturday morning to you. I hope you're doing well
in between holidays. Here we're in December, December seventh. All right,
Uber and gruven here on inside racing every set at eight.
I want to thank Steve and Jay for stepping in
(04:03):
for me. Well medical procedure a couple of weeks ago.
Everything went well, doing fine and on the mend, so
happy to report that. And we move forward from here.
Oh boy, what did I miss a lot? But we
have a lot going on today, so one of those Well,
this is the last good card of the year until
(04:27):
the day after Christmas, so I will quickly note that
the December twenty sixth card at Santa Anita is going
to be absolutely loaded, and we got a bunch of
horses that looks like shipping out, including maybe the Derby
winner missed Dick Dan to get his season rolling in
the Malibu. But it's going to be a really really
(04:49):
fun day and fun card the day after Christmas to
kick off the Santa Anita winner. Meet very excited about that.
A great day of racing. We know it'll be beautiful
that day because it almost always is. And I believe
it's four, if not five steaks that day, but they're
going to be loaded. And obviously no turf racing right
(05:09):
now in southern California, so those races will be should
be jam packed, all four or five of them on
Boxing Day, December twenty sixth, so that's two and a
half weeks from now. But today is the Cigar Mile
card at Aqueduct, and I have to say, whatever I
(05:29):
think of the Cigar Mile, I always think of our
late friend Alan Benowitz. He loved the met Mile. He
loved the Cigar Mile like the One Turn Mile. I
do too. It's a very specific race. It's absolutely got
its place. And the card today at Aqueduct features four
really nice steaks races. The Cigar Mile is the last
(05:52):
of them, and we'll talk about that and I'll talk
about it in some detail with Steve. Also the two
year old races today, the rims in the Demoiselle, those
are always interesting. They hadn't produced a whole lot to
the last couple of years, but Sierra Leone was in
this race. I believe got beaten nose last year. These
(06:12):
races are a mile and an eighth today at Aqueduct,
which is again a little different, a little weird. They
don't go that distance again until like April, so it's
odd but fun to handicap. And certainly none of these
horses have gone this far, so there's that. So again
the colts in the Remsen, the Phillies and the Demoiselle.
(06:33):
That's races seven and eight, and then I believe race
ten is the Cigar Mile. Earlier on the card, the
Go for wand so really good racing at Aqueduct today
and the Cigar Mile came up a nice race. I
think there's five main contenders. The one book them Dano,
really nice three year old. It's had a really nice year.
(06:56):
The five Mullikan, who is a sprinter stretching out to
a mile. He was third in the Breeders' Cup. I'm
a noe threat third, but he ran well. He's had
a very very good year. He's got to try to
stretch out. The seven Locked, if you remember, was a
really good two year old and we didn't see him
all year until about three weeks ago. He came back
going seven furlongs ran great, but he is stepping way
(07:18):
up in class today. He's getting a little weight and
he's obviously very talented. The nine is Signor Buscador. Was
a note threat fifth in the Classic, but ran okay
and that cuts back to a mile, which should be
really good for him. He's the veteran of the group.
This is his fourth race of this cycle, obviously had
(07:39):
those preps at Delmore for the Classic and should get
a good pay set up. And then the outside horse,
the eleven post Time, who a lot of us liked
on Breeders' Cup Day. In the final race, the Breeders'
Cup Dirt Mile, he ran a very big second, did
not threaten the winner, but pretty much blew by everybody
else from I believe dead asked I was watching him
(08:01):
because I had that exactly so I needed post Time
to get up there for a second, and he did.
He is a very very nice horse who's had a
very nice long year. Does carry high weight today, which
is a little different. So the Cigar Mile, I think
it's those five. We'll talk more about it with Steve,
but a really good race to close out that card
and close out a really nice day at Aqueduct. Good news.
(08:24):
The weather is good back there. I have a good
friend in New York right now. Tom, if you're listening,
I hope you're having a great time. I know you are,
and he's happy to be back there with a little
Christmas weather but not snow. So it's like forty two
forty three today is the high, which is great, right,
and horses like that. I think they prefer that as
opposed to like eighty five or ninety degrees. So good
(08:46):
news at Aqueduct today. At Los Alamados which started yesterday
and finishes a week from Sunday, so two week meat
at Los Salamados for the thoroughbreds. They have the two
year old Phillies today. So we have the De Moiselle
in New York, and we have the Starlet at Low Salamados,
a race that has been owned by Bob Baffert, no surprise,
(09:10):
who has won? How many of these in a row?
Do you think? How many starlets in a row has
Baffort won? Seven? That's ownage. Seven is complete ownage. Well,
he has three of the seven runners today, but I
don't know that they're going to be favored. This is
an interesting one. He had three A couple of weeks
ago and they got beat actually by one of the
(09:34):
horses in here. Practical Dream beat three bafforts three weeks
ago and is back to try to do it again.
All three bafforts have questions here. They were all beaten
last time out, so it's a little bit different. He
usually has a pretty strong favorite that's looking great coming
in here. That is not the case today, so it
makes this a much more interesting race. The pace should
(09:57):
be good the outside Philly Nooney is basically a one
way sprinter, just gets out there and blasts off and goes.
She did it in the Breeders Cup and faded pretty badly.
I'm going to try it again today. Definitely going to
set the pace the other bafforts. The five Tema was
a nice winner of the Delmore Debutante did not run
(10:19):
very well going two turns at the Oak Leaf. He
did not send her to the Breeders' Cup off that
gave her a break instead, so she said two months
off and comes back here. I would assume he thinks
this is his horse for this race. Often nice del
mar Win. I'm going to give her another shot. Going
two turns she ran okay but not impressive, and then
(10:40):
the two ma Wu beat Maidens nicely and then was
beaten pretty cleanly by Practical Dream in the Desi Arnez.
The Practical Dream is back here a strong wind, going
seven furlongs, beating all three bafforts and now stretches out
today and has to go two turns and do again.
(11:03):
And the big name Philly in here is probably Vodka
with a Twist. Good name. I happened to be a
vodka drinker, so I'm good with that big big second.
The Breeders Cup juven Phillies. Nobody's beating the winner that day,
Immersive one impressively drew off no problem, but Vodka with
a Twist beat everybody else, and she gets a chance
(11:24):
to avenge losses to all of the bafforts earlier in
her career. So really really interesting Starlett. Not usually that
interesting race because Baffort usually completely dominates it. Not the
case today, So excited to see this one. It goes
as race eight on the Los aal Amidos card today,
and we'll be digging into that a little bit, so
(11:47):
there's always a lot to talk about a couple of
quick things before we jump back into the races. And
Steve is going to join me soon. He'll be followed
by our man Bruno de Giulio and then Jay Friedlander.
So get the normal lineup for you today, Ready to
roll quick. Note you probably saw the tape. If you didn't,
no need to really see it. But Paco Lopez, who's
a very controversial rather we've talked about him for years
(12:09):
and years on the show, extremely aggressive, many including me
would say, reckless rider who puts other riders in danger regularly.
In horses wrote a horse at I'm pretty sure it
was Parks and a young horse drifted out in the
stretch all the way to the outside rail, so obviously
a very immature horse. Still happened to win the race.
(12:34):
But Paco was not pleased after the race and wound
up and whipped the horse as he was just jogging
after the race, right in the face and neck. Really
pretty brutal and it was full wind up. I mean
he did it because he wanted to send a message
to that horse. Well, the good news is there's nothing
(12:56):
good about that. The good news is we have Haisa now.
And a lot of controversy about Haisa, I'm absolutely completely
on board with it. And here's why Haisa was able
to step in and almost immediately suspend Paco Lopez indefinitely
for such a ridiculously pathetic action that would not have
(13:19):
happened if we left it up to the stewards at parks,
they probably still wouldn't have made a decision. And in fact,
he tried to ride today in Jamaica, where they happen
to have their one big day of the year down there.
He thought he would slip down there and ride five
races and try to pick up some money and haisa,
I believe flex their muscle a little bit. And Jamaica
(13:40):
or Puerto Rico, I'm not sure, and they said no,
Paco can't come, and Paco apologized, He's going to go
and undergo counseling. The point is that we have something
close to a commissioner at least for things like this now,
and it really saved the day, and so people that
oppose high, I'm really not sure what you're thinking. And this,
(14:03):
to me was a great example of that's exactly what
racing needs. When something this egregious and stupid happens, somebody
or some entity needs to be able to step in
and do this, and they did, and for that, I'm
very very thankful. So Paco can sit for a long
long time as far as I'm concerned. Screw him. That
(14:24):
was just can't have that. So that was handled and
that's good. Speaking of ISSA, they're having a problem with
Naira in Churchill Downs, the two kind of major entities
other than the stronic first racing. They owe a bunch
of money to Haisa and so shockingly they don't want
to pay it, or they want to pay less. Actually
they're arguing over how the money is calculated. ISISA operates
(14:48):
mostly for money from the tracks and there's a different
formula to calculate it, and they're arguing over the formula
and it's up near five or six million dollars now
that they're fighting over and HEISA needs that money for
next year. So this is another great example of racing
eating itself. One of the stupidest sports ever and certainly
in the last twenty or thirty years, just a sport
(15:10):
that has shot itself in the foot over and over
and over again. We didn't even have a foot left.
And here's another great example. This argument is going to
go on for a while. It's in the courts now.
They're probably going to settle it's just stupid on every level.
And to have two entities that large fighting with ISA
over the money and how it's calculated. Come on, grow up, folks,
(15:33):
really and it's not that much money for you to
these groups, but they're still going to fight over it.
So we'll see how that plays out. But just monumentally
stupid stuff, all right. What else? The end of del
Mar fun racing. Good racing last week and weekend Thanksgiving weekend,
(15:53):
I guess that was two weeks ago. Last week, nice
to see Chad Brown not win the big race, the Matriarch,
excellent race, and then a shipper did win, but it
wasn't Chad. He ran second, so that was good. The
racing was really good. Not a lot of people at
the track, I have to say at Delmar Saturday and Sunday,
(16:14):
very disappointing and not a good not trending in the
right direction there. It's really really good racing. The weather
was fine, but I don't know, again, kind of a
step down the ladder here. Not a lot of folks
out at del Mar for the last two days of
really really good racing there. But anyway, we move forward
(16:36):
and let's see, well, okay, very quickly. I'm gonna bring
Steve on in just a second. Let's jump to Aqueduct.
The Remsen Race seven I thought was just a really
cool race. There's so many different stories in here. The
railhorse very talented. One race sprint for Billmont, well bred
(16:58):
horse who stretches out today off of six and a
half for a long sprint to a mile and eight.
That's tough. The two is a horse that comes from
the turf back to the dirt for Chad Brown. Has
gone a mile in sixteen, so he has that advantage.
Blinkers do go on. He's got some talent. The three
I'm very interested in. That's poster for Owen Hardy and
(17:18):
Good Dolphin. This horse is two for two on the
grass both of those races, going two turns. That's very
difficult to do. Been training really well on the dirt.
Beautiful looking horse, has a lot of speed and Owen
Hardy's going to try him on the dirt today. I'm
very interested to see the three poster. I am going
to play him in here. The Forest Udley Do Ride
is cool because he's had six races as a two
(17:40):
year old, just going right up the ladder. May June, July, September, November.
The last five or stakes, he runs well pretty much
every time. He's a nice horse. The five Key Wading
is the favorite for Chad Brown, very impressive maiden when
last time he's stretching out for seven furlongs. And then
the two outside horses are both big long shots. So
(18:01):
really really cool race. I'm going with the three Poster,
who I think is going to take to the dirt
and run really really well. And then the race after
that to Denoisel. You got to beat the one Muhammen
for Brad Cox, who seems to have a hold on
the two year old affilities here mouchima, excuse me, looks
pretty tough in here. If there's a horse to use underneath,
(18:22):
I think it would be the three for Tuna Mia
or the five Michelle. Those would be the two I
would use underneath the big favorite there in the Denoisel.
All right, let's bring on a man. Steve will talk
to Cigar and Mile. I'll talk Abill end of del
Mar Steve, good morning, Good.
Speaker 8 (18:39):
Morning, Jason. You sound great and energized this morning. I'm back, baby,
Yes you are welcome back.
Speaker 6 (18:47):
Thank you. They say you can't keep a good man down.
I will tell you as a last Saturday, I was down,
so that's not true. You can keep a good man down,
but there is the bounce back factor. So we're a
resilient group. And I'm back, so appreciate all the work
you did, and Jay did as well. Stepping in did
(19:09):
a wonderful job and I appreciate that and happy to
be back.
Speaker 8 (19:15):
Well, we're glad to have you, Jason. I just I
want to comment a little bit on the del Mar
races first, folks, and this is just it's just so important.
I believe you know, the late scratches really made a
difference in the matriarch. It really made a big difference
in the big race on Saturday for the three year olds.
It's amazing to you look at a race and then
(19:35):
all of a sudden, the complexion changes and they took
several of the speeds out of the races both days,
and both days I believe it changed the actual winner.
I think a different horse might have won, maybe the
late runner that was flying late in either race. But
it really makes a difference. You got a refactor if
you do like I do, and you're handicapping the night
(19:55):
before and you want to have it done. Make sure
you look at those late scratches.
Speaker 6 (19:59):
Jason.
Speaker 8 (20:00):
Again, it was very very big last Saturday and Sunday
at Delmark.
Speaker 6 (20:04):
Yeah, very very important that this is true, especially like
you say, if it changes the pace dramatically, then it
changes the race dramatically. It's just the easiest way to
put it. And it does happen, and you do have
to recalibrate, that's for sure. I thought ag Bullet ran
very very well. It's a nice horse, not good enough
(20:27):
to win that race, but good enough to run third
behind a couple of really nice shippers. But again, pace
was going to be more contested than it was in
that race, and maybe that's why that horse was able
to run that well. But it does change things, no
question about it.
Speaker 8 (20:44):
I want to give you credit. It did run very well, Jason.
And again I just that turf course. I don't think
the entire meat was really favoring. There was There was
a day toward the end of the meet where they
had the rail out at thirty and speed did pretty
well that day. But I don't think that the speed
did very well the fall. I think it did much
better in the later part of the summer, and that's
not surprising. And if you looked at the turf, it
(21:06):
was very very different looking. It looked really really choppy.
There was certainly some grass on there, but it did
look very very choppy in a strange kind of brownish
green color. But that grass course was definitely different than
how it played over the summer.
Speaker 6 (21:21):
That's another thing everybody's got to keep their eye on
is as a meat goes on to see how that's playing. Obviously,
the weather is very different in late November than it
is in August, so that accounts for some of the
difference in how the course looks and how it plays.
But it's just an extremely different climate and it's just
a very very different story. So that one's over good call.
(21:46):
By the way, I'm Ermano ramon very nice win at
a very nice price with Hector Burios on the grass.
He shouldn't ever pay more than like six bucks in
the grass, but he does sometimes.
Speaker 8 (22:00):
He's pretty good on that course, isn't he. That was
a half of a ride, and that race did set
up for that horse and made a very very nice
run late. I've been following that horse since he came
out as a first time four year old, which is
another Alan Benowit's angle that we followed and done so
well with, and I just sort of started watching him
(22:21):
from there and I watched him improve each time out
and last time last week where that was the go time.
Speaker 6 (22:28):
Yeah, it was a nice price and that helped you
hit the pick four for a little over three hundred dollars,
which we'll take that right, absolutely. Yeah, that was a
nice school.
Speaker 8 (22:39):
Absolutely.
Speaker 6 (22:40):
Yeah. I can't say enough about Hector burr Us we
have on the show, for sure, but the guy continues
to find the rail ride the rail time is, move,
save as much ground as possible and just seriously outride
just about everybody else out there, day in and day
out on the grass. It's remarkable. And uh, you know,
(23:03):
you could still get him at a price. Obviously he's
not on all the favorites. There are turf races that
don't have him in the race, especially two turn races.
I don't understand that for the life of me, I
cannot possibly understand how you can have a horse and
a two turned grass race and have some of these
other guys ride and he's sitting on the sidelines. If
you're an owner and you're listening to this. I'm going
(23:25):
to tell you right now, you're completely out of your mind.
If you if you, I'm not, I mean, let's just
I'll say I'll say it.
Speaker 8 (23:33):
It's absolutely unbelievable to me that there can be a
ten horse or of twelve horse. Last week and there
was this a couple of times. Yeah, he was not
in the race, right, I can't believe it.
Speaker 6 (23:45):
I can't either. You got to you got to be
able to call your trainer and say, look, all due
respect to who you want to ride, he's off, Burrios
is on. I mean, you want to give your horse
the best chance. He's two, three, four times better than
most of the guys there. And well I'm not going
to name anybody, but other than like the top three
(24:06):
other guys, he's far in a way superior. And so
that's just lost on me. I don't just don't get it.
But anyway, let's move on. It's a really good card
at Aqueduct. And you wanted to talk Sigar a mile
a little bit. This race sometimes comes up good, sometimes
not this year, really good race, fun race.
Speaker 8 (24:27):
Well, there's two things I really wanted to point out
to the fans. One is, of course, actually three things.
So of course you got to keep an eye on
the earlier races at Aqueduct. Now, the weather we had
really bad weather a few days ago they canceled racing there.
But the lad was was fining yesterday in the track
played very, very fair. You could be close to the lead,
you could be down on the inside, and there were
(24:47):
a couple of closures here. But Jason, I've been keeping
close track of Aqueduct and they've run I've got one
hundred and ninety five race sample of one mile races
this year. Seventy one wire to wire, four five by trackers,
fifty six by closers between two and five lengths off
the pace, and only twenty three by the deep closers.
(25:08):
And a one turn mile. You would think a one
turn mile horses cutting back, and I've always liked that angle.
But horses coming back that can be tactical are doing
better in this race only fourteen percent, maybe a little
less than that with the deep closures. So that's one
thing I was looking at. The Other thing I was
looking at is I went back and I looked at
the history of this race, and I find it very
interesting that a lot of the winners were our fresh
(25:31):
horses or horses that didn't run great in the Breeder's Cup.
The only horses that I found that really ran well
in the Breeder's Cup were Sharp Batsteca in twenty seventeen
and Private Zone in twenty fourteen, and I'm going back
as far as nineteen ninety seven. So all these horses
that come out of the Breeders Cup and run big
in the race, Hoist the Gold did win last year.
(25:54):
And actually, for those of you who are really, you know,
really watched the races closely, Hoist the Gold obviously ran
in the sprint race and ran what looked to be
just an ok fifth or sixth I believe in there,
but he was really running after the wire, and obviously
that was a great race, so maybe he was a
little bit buried in there, and that was one for
(26:14):
the gallop out on Hoist of Gold, because he did
go asked what we thought were an incredible top two
finishers in there about a furlong and a half after
the wire. But that being said, most of these horses
were horses that did not run in the Breeders Cup
or ran in the Breeder's Cup and did not run
well so a big effort in the Breeders Cup and
(26:35):
a deep closer, which I know you had a real
passion for posts I'm when you loved him. He ran
great and that was in the you know, in the
Breeders Cup mile. And if it weren't for Poul Serrano
just running an absolutely huge race, this horse would have
been an easy winner. And he just ran a huge one.
But he is a deep closer, so he's going to
(26:56):
be part of that only fourteen percent winning.
Speaker 10 (26:59):
And he's also a.
Speaker 8 (27:00):
Horse that came out of a big Breeders Cup race,
so he's got two big knocks. He's saying he can't
win because again, there were horses that ran big in
the Breeders Cup that came back and won this race.
But I think most of the horses that run big
in the Breeders Cup don't run as well in here.
And he's also a deep closer, and you're only getting
seven to two according to the morning line.
Speaker 6 (27:20):
And he's carrying high weight. So yeah, well that, I mean,
history is against him pretty clearly, and some great stuff,
and I mean that's really good to know. It's always
interesting to see horses out of the Breeders Cup especially
runs the ones that run well because they're pointed for
that race. So when they run again a month later,
you know that's not a race that was really in mind.
(27:40):
But you know, they want to push the envelope, They
want to kind of squeeze the lemon a little bit.
The horses doing well, and those horses are often a
good bet against and there are some good reasons to
think that he's maybe a little bit up against it
here from that outside post.
Speaker 8 (27:54):
That is exactly my thinking as well. That is exactly
my thinking. And again I'm not telling you don't use
this horse. I did not include my voice in the analysis.
Do I realize that this horse could win the race
at three to one, Absolutely, But that's what the game
we're playing. We're looking for value, and I think that
there are reasons that we can be post time today.
Speaker 6 (28:14):
Yeah, and senior Buskad or another deep closer in there
who is a little bit up against it based on
how the track plays and how the one turn miles
have played as you laid out. So yeah, good stuff,
interesting stuff there. And there's a couple three year olds
in there that get a little weight that are coming
in that did not run in the Breeders' Cup, so
(28:34):
we'll just throw that out there. Los Alamidos. You wanted
to talk about Race seven, Is that right, Starlett Carter?
Speaker 8 (28:44):
I did, Jason, Yeah, this is a two turn. This
is the same distance at one mile. Listen, speed one
six out of eight races yesterday, so you have to
be tactical. Almost made me want to switch my top
choice to Nevu, who is carrying top weight off of
a forty one leanth loss. This is a very very
hard horse to read. He's an eight time winner. He's
(29:06):
got two starts at Los Al. Both times he ran
well and ran second, and I don't know whether he's
going to show up today. He does have a little
bit of a pace edge, and I think five to
one is pretty fair on him. I have a feeling
he's going to get bet down. I'm going to go
to a horse that's one point higher that I don't
think it's going to get as much action, and that
is the three horse, Jay Dutton. And Jay Dutton is
(29:27):
my tom selection because he comes off of a couple
of big efforts at Hastings, which is a bull ring,
and I love these horses coming out of the bull
ring that show speed, into these type of races because
I really believe they get legged up, and I just
think that this is a place where this horse is
going to be able to run well. If you go
back and you look at his format Santa Anita, this
(29:49):
horse was really running well, and he was running against
straight maidens and disappointing a little bit. But when they
stretched him out, he ran second beat and a half
and he won a race actually where he opened up
four and was able to hold on. I think both
of those efforts are close to being good enough. I
thought his form in Canada was very good, and the
six furlong races in the last time, it looks like
(30:11):
in the racing form that this horse had a little trouble.
It says climbed. I'm just putting the line through that race.
I didn't see a lot of the trouble. I don't
think he broke all that well in that race, and
maybe just wasn't ready to go for that race. With
the work since then, I think this horse will be
ready to go today, and again I think the price
will be a little bit better.
Speaker 6 (30:29):
Still.
Speaker 8 (30:29):
Think Navoo is the horse that's also very interesting. So
keep an eye on the board and the five horse
win ribbon. Very consistent, can certainly go this distance. And
I think this is the other horse in the race
in the seven horse field, but six to one, I'm
gonna go with the three horse Jay Dutton. I'm going
to play a simple win bat here, box them bigger
with the two Navou and the Saverer Exactor with the
(30:50):
five win ribbon. It's the three Jade Dutton in the
seventh race out of Los Alaminos today.
Speaker 6 (30:57):
The Hastings angle. Hey take it wherever you can get it. Yeah,
they ran this horse in the two grade three races
up there and he ran well, and both of them
he was second and third in those races behind the
same horse. It was betting both of those races. And yeah,
(31:18):
now they ran good up there after that, like you said,
comes back and gets to go the flat mile today
at Los Alamitos. So the three Jay Dutton with the
two and five in race seven out at Los Alamidos,
that is the race right before the starlet and with
your Los Alamados plays today you have bonus. What's the
(31:41):
bonus with aqueduct?
Speaker 8 (31:42):
I just did I just added the cigar mile today, Jason,
I gotta beat to be honest, with you. I didn't
love the Cigar the card at Aqueduct. There were two
or three other races in that latter part of the card,
and I know that's what everybody wants to play. Listen
to see what Jay has to say about today, but
I didn't love the card there. I do like my
selection in the Cigar Mile, but because I didn't love
(32:04):
the card, I didn't put the extra races on there
because I just didn't feel that confident in it. I
do like the late Pick four at Losal today, and
I also looked at tomorrow already, and that's a good card.
I like the late Pick four out there tomorrow, and
you will get my selections and the late Pick four
included with my selections from Losal tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (32:24):
There you have it, beautiful, nice and easy, Steve, appreciate it.

those races from Jamaica today that Paco Lopez is not writing,
those are there for you too. All right, Uh, let's
get to our man, Bruno. Where is Bruno? Good morning?
Speaker 11 (37:13):
Hey, I want to thank you for coming back. You know,
all in one piece. You're gonna save me and Pollock
getting arrested, climbing up that water tower to put to
scratch out, save Faris, and but save Jason so you don't.
Speaker 6 (37:28):
Have to do it. And you know what, you guys
are a little older than you used to be, so
climbing up the water tower probably not as easy as
it was thirty years ago.
Speaker 11 (37:36):
Yet tour but I mean, I mean, I'm still sore,
But you know what, you're a righteous dude. Very fu
Older's Day Off is one of the greatest movies ever.
Speaker 6 (37:46):
That was a really fun movie when it came out
that that was. They did so much cool stuff in
that movie. Gotta give them a lot of credit. Yeah,
that was. That was really fun, really really fun.
Speaker 11 (37:55):
I'm glad to have you back.
Speaker 6 (37:57):
I appreciate it. Happy to be back. And a lot
of action. This time of year, it's interesting. Racing in
December is interesting. A lot of a lot of meats
starting up. We got a couple of weeks of low sALS,
big two year old races there last gasp kind of
at Aqueduct for the winter there with the Cigar Mile.
(38:17):
But then things are starting to heat up at the
other tracks. Fair Grounds just started rolling. I know you're
you're on top of that and you're going to have
picks from there and workouts from there. And Oakland just
jumped in. What yesterday was the first day.
Speaker 11 (38:33):
Yeah, I really take my hat off to Oakland. I
really loved the way to promoting it, where we started
getting our camera crew there the train on Thursday. We
were off yesterday because the track was Coline track was closed.
But today we got a bunch of videos that I
have to identify and put up. But where this with
(38:53):
winter at Jason, We're going to have fair Grounds, turf Way,
Keenlan Works, and Oakland Works all in our video library
and you can find those if you go to the
track side. At Oakland, they're actually doing a big deal
in promoting it, which is kind of interesting. There a
new idea in racing actually promoting something. But they're doing
(39:16):
a great job and I'm really happy to be part
of the Oakland team.
Speaker 6 (39:20):
Yeah, like you said, they're promoting it other tracks. They
don't even want to let you on the ground. So
it's there could be a pretty big, big gap in racing.
Some people that have a clue, others that don't want
to keep it a tight small sport, keep all the
information of themselves, try to do some insider trading, keep
everybody else out. It's one of the reasons the game
is going into the toilet. So for all those people
(39:41):
that have done that over the years, to you, to me,
to many other people, and try to keep everything real
tight like it used to be fifty years ago. Screw
you and wise up, open up. It's the information age.
People are going to get what they want anyway. So
do what Oakland's doing and step up right.
Speaker 11 (40:01):
You know, I think it makes a whole lot of sense.
You know, you got It's just you promote your game.
You promote the races for the players. You know, the
more players get information, the more you know they're going
to put through the windows. And and that's the bottom
line there. You know, I don't know why some of
(40:22):
these stracks want to protect the clockers and they want
to protect this and that. I don't get that. You
promote what you're selling.
Speaker 6 (40:31):
You would think, you would think, But there's a lot
of a lot of breeders and owners and big big
boys that have been in the game a long time.
They don't understand that and they don't want to understand it.
Speaker 11 (40:41):
Well, Jason, let me let me correct you on that though.
I'm going to tell you there is a lot of
people that have come out of the woodwork and said, hey,
we love this. There's a there's one guy I think
he's playborns Man, Charlie O'Connor. I want to say, he
lost the videos and he's really helped, you know, he's
really been vocal about it. There's a lot of people,
(41:03):
I mean who approached me and say, hey, did you
get my orse? Did you get my arse?
Speaker 6 (41:07):
You know?
Speaker 11 (41:07):
So there rise a lot of people that want to
see it. They do want to see it, and they're
just getting sometimes getting people to take money out of
their pocket. And that's why I give so much credit
to Oaklon. They have been just a just very They
didn't make me jump through hoops okay with fire because
I'm too old to jump through hoops with fire anymore
(41:29):
and stuck.
Speaker 6 (41:32):
Yeah, well that's great, that's great. It's a it's a
good meat, it's a solid meat. It's an easy meat
to follow. It's all dirt, there's no dirf, so it's
pretty simple. And we see a lot of really really
nice horses come out of Oaklon, Uh, you know, onto
the Derby Trail, the Oaks Trail, et cetera. And uh,
they even have a California guy calling the race. Is
(41:52):
that right, Matt Dinnerman.
Speaker 11 (41:54):
Who he contacted me right away. He said, anything I
can do to help you and anything like that, you
really appreciated it. I'll tell you one thing. I'm going
to be a big Oaklon guy playing the races, which
I'm usually a little shy about because I didn't have
all the info. You know, you can't teach it all
dogs and new tricks. I need to have my works
(42:14):
and all my information to be able to play at
a try and and now we will. So now they're
going to get my money, and I think they will
get your money, and I think Steve's going to get
his money except for the mail money that we had
to get out of jail because of your ass.
Speaker 6 (42:26):
You know, that's another story.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
That's that's on you.
Speaker 6 (42:31):
You climb water towers, you pay the price. We got
to give you gup, right, you got to give your gup. Hey.
You know there's consequences for all water tower climbing and
activities that are outside of what one should normally be doing.
There's a price to pay. It's just the way the
way the world works. Due, there you go, and.
Speaker 11 (42:50):
We got took them stuff today a couple of rays.
Actually I've got correct me if I'm wrong. I got
fair Grounds Fairgrounds, Oaklon goll Stream up on your site
and was looking at trying to figure out what we
could talk about. And because I have a couple of
horses that are training really well, let's go to Gulf
(43:13):
Stream first of all, and let's go to the race eight.
It's just an allowance optional claiming race. And I'm an
sixtect on the grass. And the one thing that I
do look for, there's some none Some of these trainers
have all these horses and they have to run one
or two horses in a race. So how do you
(43:35):
you know, how do you play when you have a
trainer with two horses in the race. The first thing
I do is the jockey assignment. If he puts the
top rider on on one horse and a lesser known
rider on the other horse, I always look at the
one with a lesser known rider. It's not a secret.
These guys bet too, right, Jason. They're going to play
(43:57):
a few dollars, So sometimes they'll play it and put
a Tyler got Leon on a horse like the five
off season. Who's got a shot in there. I'm not
saying he doesn't. But the other horse is Katib, which
for Shadwell, which is a new client for Brandan. He'd
love to have shot Well, and if it's David Egan,
(44:19):
who's very talented. But we also had a huge work
of four star work on Katib working with Raquel, who's
a pretty good horse for a while, he's decent, he's
a good workhorse, he's better workhorse than he is a
race horse. So knowing that and Katib working very very well,
and he's twelve to one on the line, had be
(44:40):
a fool not to go there.
Speaker 6 (44:43):
Well, don't be a fool go there and you did.
Speaker 11 (44:45):
I'm going it's the.
Speaker 6 (44:47):
Two cathebe And I would mention that I believe we
talked about this guy last year. But David Egan is
one of the top riders in Europe and he came
to ride Gulf Stream. I think obviously more of a
turf rider, that's all he's really written in Europe, but
he's certainly capable. But this is a turf race. And
that's the name people should know. He can ride. He's Irish, right, Yeah,
(45:11):
he's Irish. He's a very accomplished rider. He's young and
he's here to make some money over the winter. And it's,
like you said, very interesting that they put him up
on this horse, Trusts Inside, which is nice and like
you said, twelve to one in the morning line. So
keep an eye on the name David Egan, especially on
the grass down at Gulf Stream. He will outride some
guys down there. And he is on this horse today,
(45:33):
Cathede for Brendan Walsh. That's a trainer you're talking about
who has two in this race. So he's your top
pick in there.
Speaker 11 (45:38):
Huh yeah, we put him on top. He's got the
star working.
Speaker 2 (45:42):
You know, a connection.
Speaker 11 (45:43):
People say, well, what's the connection. Well, Brendan Walsh is
Irish and I hope he's Irish because he's going to
kill me by today. He's Irish. Anyed English, you know?
But but you know, you know how those guys get right,
you know what's going in English?
Speaker 6 (45:57):
Oh no, no, no, I was in Ireland last. We
learned that lesson every day we were there. That's to
say there's no love lost is understanding it. There's tremendous
hate from Ireland towards England. I think that's the safest
way to say that.
Speaker 11 (46:13):
And it just end a barrel of whiskey stuffed in
a barrel of whiskey, I'll tell you that. But no,
but sometimes looking at those connections and understanding why they're
doing it. But as you just eloquently put it, David
Eagan is a very good turf fighter. Makes a whole
lot of sense. He's going to go with his home
boys in this position. Not that he doesn't want to
(46:34):
win with Oscar season either, but I think he's there.
At twelve to one, they're playing categue. Now, let's move
on over from from the Irish connection to the Arkansas connection.
And yesterday I watched the races yesterday and I noticed
that outside posts are doing pretty well, meaning that maybe
the track was playing a little bit to the outside
(46:54):
at Oakland. At Oakland, you do have to watch the
way that track plays. There are a day where the
speed dominates and there are days where that rally wide
is just unbeatable. They just come looping around. Now, if
you've been to Oaklon right.
Speaker 6 (47:11):
No, because one of the places I've not been so
been invited to, haven't made it.
Speaker 11 (47:16):
Let me explain a little bit the way that track is.
The way that track is, it's almost you're going uphill
from the quarter pole and then you're going downhill after
going through the far turn, the first turn. So in
other words, it's built upward on about a fifteen foot grade.
So when when they're going down the backside, they're going
(47:38):
downhill and there's almost like this big dip at the
quarter pole. And you can do that if any of
you at Bonn going to go to Oaklon, which I
highly recommend. They got a new hotel there and everything.
Go and go and stand at the wire and you're
looking down at the quarter pole.
Speaker 6 (47:57):
So interesting.
Speaker 11 (47:59):
So what happen and just the way the tracks sometimes
will play, speed will dominate and other times you gotta
And the way I judge it is by the close
positions that are winning. So that's a good way of
looking at those races. And it could go night and
day from one day to the next. They get a
lot of weather, they get a lot of moisture. Moisture
(48:19):
in the track, as you know, changes the track. So
I liked in race number ten and make sure. I'm
giving it to the right race, which is a main
special on mile, and I like the outside horse dream
and Blue. It's another horse that has a four star work,
(48:39):
and I love Randy Morse. Randy Morse is a great
long shot rider. He a trainer, I'm sorry, trainer, and
he's using Christian tours here. He won yesterday with a
horse that I think became one of the biggest earners
and opan Arkansas breds. But the twelve Dreaming Blue has
(49:02):
got a four star work working with a horse named Antonian.
Antonian came back to win first time outs at first
time off that work, which Atonian is a winner out
of that drill, and Antonian is a really nice hource.
So Dreaming of Blue fits in here. It's a four
star work even though Antonian was a little bit best.
(49:24):
But I thought Blue was very game. So I'm going
to look at this source at four to at three
to one on the morning line, but I think because
of his post, he's going to drift up. And I
never I don't get too caught up in the morning
lines because we've seen it been very They're less important
than they were at one one time, you know, So
(49:45):
I don't pay attention to the morning line. And I
recommend you people out there that don't pay attention to them,
because you've got all the history of the morning line
comes that morning line makers used to rely on clockers
to be able to help them to give him information.
Now it's like morning line makers know everything, right, they
know everything you know, and all of a sudden you
get a worse at twenty to one. Who goes off
(50:07):
at five to two? Well, duh, you know you didn't
know everything.
Speaker 6 (50:11):
No, they don't, nobody does. But so yeah, that's just
a remind folks. That's raised ten at Oaklawn and it's
the twelve dream in Blue. Christian Tory is very good writer. There,
one we keep an eye on. And with the twelve
you also use the four winning campaign and the five
mischievous intent. That's the next two.
Speaker 11 (50:33):
Correct, Yes, And I always look at I always look
at connections. And what I mean by connections not the
trainer and jockey, but the trainer and owner. If the
owner is one of his big money guys, you know
there's a little and please do not take this wrong,
there's a little extra sauce in that horse.
Speaker 6 (50:51):
You know.
Speaker 11 (50:52):
You know they want to win for that. You know
they they do catered to the big guy with money,
do right, yeah money, you know he's gonna be able
to get you better horses. So and Randy Patterson is
probably one of the biggest clients for Randy Morris, who's
really had a last three two three years have been
very very nice.
Speaker 6 (51:11):
That's the yeah, yeah, all right, dreaming Blue coming off
that work at the other horse, like you said, Anthoni
in one first time out, and looking for that to
be the case here for the twelve dream in Blue
and raise ten at Oakland. Bruno has always appreciated man,
great information, great stuff. Excited for you to get the
foot in the door at Oakland and make the most
(51:32):
of it. This meet, that's gonna be a lot of
fun and we're gonna have fun following that. So have
yourself a great week and then we will talk to
you next Saturday.
Speaker 11 (51:42):
Take the week off, come back next Saturday. We don't

Casino Houseparties dot Com. Pretty simple, pretty easy. All you
can do is make the phone call and they will
take care of everything for you. They bring everything to
your house, they take everything away, including the d chips,
you name it. They make it happen for you. So
Casino Houseparties dot Com, go ahead and make that happen
(54:07):
and make your party rock and roll, have some fun.
Do some fake gambling. People love that. They get after
it when it's not real money. All right, speaking of
real money, I'd like to bet some real money, as
does our man, Jay Freelander.
Speaker 10 (54:20):
Jay, good morning, good morning, Jason, welcome back.
Speaker 6 (54:24):
Yeah, thank you, good to be back. And yeah we
got some interesting racing today. You'd never know in December,
and I think today worked out well, especially with the
Cigar Mile Day, so we'll take that. I know you
added the last four from Aqueduct as a bonus on
your Losal card plus the pick pour there and we're
(54:44):
going to talk about one of those races, right, Yeah.
Speaker 10 (54:47):
Absolutely. I did want to mention that the best racing
in the world today though, is in Hong Kong. It's
Hong Kong o Oz Day, and I just wanted to
mention a romantic warrior who has just been a mega
horse over there. Yeah, the Cox played in Australia the
Grade one yesuita Keenan and he's won fourteen races over there.
He'll take on a couple of eight and O'Brien horses
(55:09):
and one of them is Content, the Yorkshire Oaks winner
that was written by Ryan Moore, and Ryan is making
that trip, so you know Ryan's not playing the Hong
Kong allway thinks as a shot that was sixth in
the Breeders Cup filling the Mayor Turf and just not
to waste the plane flight. An O'Brien also sends over
Wingspan was fifth in the Breeders' Cup turf, so should
(55:29):
be a very competitive race and you can bet it
sometime around ten o'clock ish tonight.
Speaker 6 (55:33):
I would think, yeah, it's tonight, And I mentioned that
on IRA bets you get ten times through Reword points there,
so it's an international game. And as we've said often
on the show over the years, it's really nice that
we can now watch these races live, bet them live.
It's very easy to do. It couldn't be easier, and
it's really cool to see horses like that. He's an
all time great over there, romantic warrior, so be fun
(55:56):
to see him run tonight. And it's a good card there.
Hong Kong as well. They take their racing very seriously,
much more seriously than we do here as far as
statistics information and you know, giving stuff to the fans.
So it's just very very different over there. That is
happening as well, So yes, that will be the the
high quality racing of the day is at Aqueduct and
then in Hong Kong. So yeah, it's a different world
(56:19):
these days. All right. Well, well done, by the way,
I'm formidable man. That's a very nice horse representing California there.
I got the job done on Hollywood Derby. That was cool.
Paid double figures, that was nice too. My horse was
pretty good. And you've got a couple of races today
Aqueduct ten, Gulf Stream ten, So where do you want
(56:39):
to start.
Speaker 10 (56:40):
We're going to start at golf Stream but we're going
to go to golf Stream five because Italian Symphony is
scratched out of the tenth race. Oh the way it goes.
But have another good pick in race five here and
we're going to try to beat the favorite Battle Drum,
who has gone from three really quality jocks, Red or Chees,
Johnny Blaska's and Paco Lopez, who of course has other issues.
(57:01):
And we'll be riding today and Sean bridgemanman Bridge Mahan
picks up the Mountain Battle Drum for Todd Pletcher and
that's a big riding come down. The last race on
Torpedo was not as good and it doesn't appear to
be entering in the better form, but the one that
is in the best form is right above. That's number ten.
Swirling Eights. Swirling Eights picks up Jersey Joe Bravo strong
(57:24):
second at Churchill Down. Really took to the turf after
kind of a very mediocre dirt start and looks like
he has a future on the turf. Number ten swirling eights.
Nice try here at gulf Stream Park and very fair price,
the only one to exceed par for the level.
Speaker 6 (57:39):
Yeah, that's go, and I think you will get a
little bit of a price on swirling eights. He's number ten.
And again that's race five at Gulf Stream Park today
where their feature is a two mile race. Don't see
that very often, so I've got to throw that in
there because it's I think the only time all year
that happens. Anyway, this is Raise five and it's the
(57:59):
ten swirling eights on the grass here, trying to spring
a little bit of an upset for you. And that's
just ten with all and pretty much all with ten, right, Ye.
Speaker 10 (58:09):
We'll just give the numbers one, two, three, four, five, six, eleven,
twelve with ten the rest. I don't think he'll win
the race.
Speaker 6 (58:16):
Don't do that. I would never don't do that. Don't
throw out three horses for three dollars. Don't do that.
Don't do it. Don't do it. You can do it
if you want. I wouldn't do it, all right. I've
been burned doing that, so I just don't do it
anymore because it hurts so much. It doesn't work out.
But I understand you don't think they have a chance.
I know the feeling. I get it. Yeah, I get it.
(58:37):
That's just funny because boy, if you get burned on
that one, you just.
Speaker 10 (58:44):
Hear you, Jason, it's an easier thing to hit the
all button. So yeah, yeah, So let's jump tack with
raise ten and we'll look at this one here. Uh,
this is the last race. It's the only non stakes
race in the pick four.
Speaker 11 (58:56):
But I just thought it was the.
Speaker 10 (58:57):
Most mettable race. I think that's a gar's gonna be
really competitive. We're going to try to beat the favorite year.
We're gonna try to beat number seven, Reynolds Channel, who
had a very strong maiden win at Saratoga and then
ran in the They put him in the Jerkins, the
Grade one Jerkins, and he seemed over his skis. But
now back with his competition. But he doesn't seem as
good as Aqueduct. If you look at the two Aqueduct races,
(59:19):
sandwiching the Saratoga races, well behind in both of those.
He's a better Saratoga horse. We're going to look at
number eight, quick to accuse Brad Cox and Manny Franco
forty five percent wins between them. A bunch of stellar
figures here, mostly in the nineties. Number eight Quick to Accuse.
The third choice is the one I like.
Speaker 6 (59:37):
Be all right, the eight Quick to Accuse Race ten
at Aqueduct. We are right at a time Jay as
always appreciated. Best of luck today and best luck to
everybody wherever you play. We'll talk to you right here
next week at eight. Go get him
