you want to call, them they're not into. Racing we've

pretty clear. Example they've made cuts across the board in.
Marketing they're not marketing racing as much as they used to.

for the LAST i don't, know fifteen years or, so

me for a lot of. Reasons so we'll just kind

what we've done with the, show what the show has stood,
for LIKE i, said being an independent, voice the only
radio show that is not hosted by somebody who is
either working for the racetrack or involved in that. Way
AND i think that that's been good out of the

ABOUT i don't know how much impact it's, had but
it's good to have voices out there that are independent
and can say what they want and maybe educate people
a little. BIT i hope we've done that on a
variety of topics over the. Years lord, knows there's been
enough of them as racing has fallen over the last

twenty two, years precipitously to where we are. Now No Hollywood,
park No Golden, gate No Bay, meadows that's Just, california
No Northern california, racing and that's going on all over the.
Country so also proud of having given the handicappers over
the years time to explain their thinking and their. Reasoning

as many of you, Know i'm also an, educator that's
my other line of. WORK i was a professor of
education and just liked to teach and felt like lisen
to some radio shows way back in the day they
just had handicappers come on and they would kind of
just tell you which horse they liked and maybe do
it in twenty seconds or, so and that was. That

AND i never felt that that, WAS i don't, know,
Helpful so we've tried to go a different, way AND
i know that's been.

Successful got a lot of feedback from a.

Lot of you about how you appreciated, That and my
hope in doing so was so that you would understand
that these folks knew what they were, doing that they
put in the, work but more importantly that if you're,
listening you're, learning and you're hearing their. Thinking you're finding
out the kinds of moves they're, making what's important to,

them maybe, breeding maybe, pace maybe surface, change any number of.

thought the card Of Santa anita was very. GOOD i
put believe four of the undercard races At Gulf, stream
AND i did not take a shot in either one
of the three year. OLDS i didn't see anybody at

say there were certainly horses with prices THAT i maybe
have a, Chance but, gosh the volatility in some of
these three year old races here has been, incredible AND
i think there's been a little.

Jason it just seems like there are more, horses you,
know like a horse like The baffort that's running in
the that's running in The Oakland. Race Cornucopean man's horse
has one start in he seven to. Five would we
have ever seen that twenty years ago when you started this.
Show it just seems like it's, changing and it's been to,

me it's been very difficult to handicap these three year old.
Races i've been on a very good run handicap, WISE
i feel Like i'm as dialed in As i've been
in my entire. Life, Yeah i'm not seeing the ball
in these three year old, races and AND i don't
know IF i have a choice other than to watch
those two races.

Today, WELL i mean that's.

Fine that's that's that's the key to handicap is knowing
where you're not strong and knowing where you're not seeing the,
ball and that's that can be as important as knowing
you're hot in another. Area so it has changed. Dramatically
it Is volatility is a good. Word it's just much.
Harder there's much less to go. On there's fewer and
fewer horses Like Cold, battle who is running today and

it should be the favorite in The Arkansas. Derby without,
question that horse should be. Favored it probably will go.
Favorite but that's a horse that's run every month Since
october and one a bunch of races and showed a
couple of different things on the, tree as opposed to
a horse that you, know costs a bunch of money
and ran off the charts once in a. Sprint but

that's just where we're at now that the game has
changed in many, ways and that's one of.

Them and it's tough as a. Handicaper you just have
a lot less to go, on and so it's one
of the reasons it's less. INTERESTING i think you just
don't know the.

Horses you're not following them because they just show up
and then you, know out of, nowhere oh here's a new.

One it's. Strange so we'll see what happens down. There
The Florida derby has some horses that have been banging
heads a little, bit that have been doing some. Running
there's a couple of new shooters.

Down, there but that's kind of a more normal, RACE
i guess a little bit, more but that's just where we're.

AT i think we're going to get a great Sant
Anita derby next.

Week at least at the, top it looks Like Citizen
bull And journalism arguably the two top contenders in a
lot of people's minds for The Kentucky derby going to
be facing off in the Sant Anita derby's a little
bit like a Justified Bolt doro. Throwdown, sure that really
is no doubt about.

Sovereignty way on the outside, There, JASON i, mean this
horse did get up last, time you, know he. Draws
we've been talking about that. NOW i know they change
the run up time for the mile in the sixteenth.
Race not sure if it's any different for a mile
and an. Eighth still think that that turn comes up
off the quick and that outside is really a to,
me it's a big difference being out there than it,

is you, know to be five six or even more.
Inside but this horse is eight to five in the morning.
Line AND i don't think this horse has to.

Win, well he doesn't have to, win that's the, thing,

QUALIFIED i think he gets a pay set up and
he may still get the job. Done you, know he
does come from, behind so he's not going to really
look to try to fire to the turn, Anyway so
not to draw they, wanted for, Sure BUT i think
he'll be. OKAY i think he's a really nice source

and looking forward to seeing what he does in the lane.
Today if he comes up a little bit. Short this
is not the major target so and It's Bill. Mott
he knows that better than, anybody SO i think people
need to keep that in mind a little bit down
there At Gulf. Stream so, yeah sometimes it's amazing how
important the draw can. Be right you just don't think
about it and all of a sudden it's, like, oh
wait a, Minute, no it didn't.

you don't want to be on the rail or in
the two.

Hole but it's true of a lot of different, races
and this is one of them where they couldn't have
been too happy about.

target today for. Sovereignty just want to keep him rolling
in the right direction and see him come running down the.

Anita you had a lot to choose fromhim as a
to the last weekend where with not a lot to
pick you came up with run Them island my, shoes
who kept the role going paid a nice fourteen forty

horse is going to fire their race and a lot
of the things that we talked about With alan and with,
you and how you handicap these four year old horses

that are coming into the good. Race it's such a
big part of the. Race you know a lot of
people just handicapping that last, race handicaping certain things that they're,
doing and that is just one of the things that
you can. Circle and that was one of those that
really came from my education of doing this show with,
you my.

Friend, well that's WHAT i love to. Hear that's, good
and that's certainly SOMETHING i learned a lot From. Alan
was kind of pattern, analysis, Right you're trying to see
a horse's pattern and hopefully that can help you predict
when they are coming to that big. Race and that
was a great example of, that And alan certainly taught

me that early, on and THEN i had to get
beat over the head with it and lose quite a
few times BEFORE i figured it out or got better at.
It but that's kind of the way the game. Goes
got to get beat up a little bit before you
can start start utilizing. It, so, yeah glad to hear.
THAT i was thinking that as you were saying it last.
Week i'm, like uh, huh. Yep so, yeah you try to,

learn you try to grow over. Time AND i, think,
WELL i know we've done. That we talk about it
on the, show AND i certainly hope that the folks
listening have done that as, well AND i know they.
Have it's just a question of putting putting it into
play and hopefully it coming out the right.
