Speaker 1 (00:00):
Coach. We've talked the last couple of weeks after some
close losses, what does it feel for the group to
get back in the win column here today?

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Well, I think there's a sense of relief that we won,
but I don't think there's any sense of satisfaction, you know.
I mean, we need to play better than we played,
especially defensively late. That's been an achilles heel of ours
so far this year, is not being able to stop
people in two minute situations, and we need to get
that corrected immediately. But I'm really proud of the way

(00:30):
our offense responded to the second half, especially running the
ball when we needed to run the ball. Cam had
almost two hundred yards rushing and would have been more
than that had they not called that one back. So yeah,
I mean, look at a win, and we're two and two,
and now we get to go on the road and
try to see if we can get another one.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
There are different moments when guys come off the field
after defensive drives. Offensive Camp scored the first of the
two touchdowns and you brought him over and you were
in his ear hole saying something. What do you say
to a guy like that when he comes up with
a big play.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Well with I mean, I don't know, it's hard to remember,
but like Cam's special, and he's special to me because
we've been together the whole time. You know, he's been
one of the guys that that you know, I got
to recruit and he came in here and he had
a tough start to things and I wasn't sure if
he's going to last and make it here, and we
didn't really know where to put him, and he had
a little bit of a goofy attitude. But he was

(01:20):
just a young kid, you know, and so it's really
special when you see a young man like that grow
up and just become what he's become on and off
the field, and everybody gets to see what he is
on the field when he runs the ball. But that's
just the result of the type of person that he is,
you know. I mean, he's just a relentless worker. He's
you know, I think he's a dog, and I say,
Dawg's a dog. I mean, you can count on him,

(01:42):
you can trust him. He's going to bring toughness and
energy and he's going to deliver when it's when it's necessary.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
At halftime, you talked about getting it in a way
and ultimately Lee Mallette comes up with a big play
there on defense. What bring. He's not a guy that
I don't think we talk often about.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
I don't think anyone really talks about leave very much.
And he's the same thing. He's been here for, you know,
four years with us, and uh, it's good to see
him make a play at that time. And he's really
matured a lot. I remember a couple years ago against Rice,
he had a chance to end the game that all
went through his hands. And now he's making plays. You know,
it's just as a coach, it's really uh, it's really
rewarding when you see guys start to really figure it out,

(02:19):
you know, and and make plays and become you know,
mature adults as opposed to young kids what they were
when they came in. I mean, that's what you love
about college football. Coach, Thanks so much, Okay,

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
