Back with Jim More on the Yukon Football Coaches showed Jim,
we didn't talk about offense, but Joe Fignano pretty good day.
Completed twenty of his first twenty six passes and he
spread it around pretty well, seven different receivers. It felt good,
it looked good. How do you rate? Do you rate
the quarterbacks play every game or do you just say
we won, we lost and he helped us. I don't

We You should see the great charts that we use,
the evaluation charts we use for every game. I mean
every player, every game, every play, every situation, and not
just the players, but it starts with how we evaluate
ourselves as a staff and the decisions that we made
going into the game and then during the game. So yeah,

(00:43):
we're all great on every single play. And that's really,
you know, just about accountability, making sure we're doing the
right things, make sure we're coaching it right, making sure
that we're our players are understanding what we're coaching, and
if they're not, how we do a better job of
making sure they understand it? Are they processing? Are they learning?
Are they growing each week? Are they able to apply

the lessons in a game. So yeah, we're very, very
detailed with all that.

We have Ramelo Murphy on the show a little bit later.
He's a red shirt senior from California, transferred from Arizona.
He'd been at Old Dominion. I like the way he
plays outside. Four catches fifty one yards thirty four yards
after catch, and we talked about it. Actually, he is
an interesting character because if you got receivers who can

turn five yards into fifteen, you got something going.

Raymelo is awesome. Number one. He's an amazing human being,
like just lights up a room, great attitude, hard worker, trustworthy,
like great kid. I wish he had more years than
just this one with us because he's a program builder.
You can build around guys like Ray Mellow. But yeah,

he's dependable. You know, he catches the balls, he he
gets yards after the catch. He's a good blocker. He's
very smart, he's very versatile. He's tough as hell. He
can I mean he's not afraid to stick his nose
in there and go dig someone out. So big, big,
big time addition to this program. We tried to get

him last year actually in the portal and he went,
you know, he went to Arizona, as you know, but
finally getting him here has been a big time deal
for us on and off the field. You know, he's
a he's a glue guy. Man, he's big time.

Yeah. They used that term a lot in basketball. Where's
number six Romelo Murphy Delaware they opened that Colorado and
Jim they had the same amount of yardage as the
Buffalo's in that game, just about three ninety six to
three ninety eight. They out passed him three hundred and
twelve yards in the air, and they had almost the
same amount of first downs in a game that they

you know, they lost by two, three scores, whatever it was.
I mean, do those numbers add up or am I
missing something here?

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Well, numbers are You can manipulate numbers any way you want.
You know, they were down in the game and they
had to throw it more than probably they wanted. They
wanted to, They probably want to be a little more
balanced because they do have a really good running game,
but they had to throw it, and they threw it effectively.
I mean, their quarterback did a heck of a job.
But you know, you go watch it the first game
against Delaware State and they ran the ball really well.

So they're a very balanced offense. They're physical, they know
what they want to be. They have an identity, they
stick with it. But they are you know, they're equally adept.
I think it thrown and running the football and the
quarterback can cause problems because he can run the football
and he is a good passer. So yeah, it's gonna

(03:40):
be a real challenge for us to go on the
road against a team that's got a lot of confidence.
They've won a lot of games. They are physical, they
are tough, they are gritty. You know, they've got talented players.
They're well coached. So it's it's gonna be a great,
great challenge for us.

Nick Minnacouchi is their quarterback. Where's number eleven. He had
a career high three hundred and twelve yards in the
year against Colorado and Jakari Kelly, his wide receiver one
of his primary targets Where's number nine. He also had
a career high sixty seven yard catch eighty three yards
in the year. Don Bosco kid from from New Jersey. No,

he's from Gainesville. Pardon me. Nick Minicucci, though, is from
Don Bosco. Preppy. Some of these high school programs they
just keep pumping out players, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Yeah, I mean yeah, you kind of hear the same
names over and over again when you say, you know
Don Bosco, everyone knows oh great great high school program,
you know. And I think that Minicuci is a really
good player. And I think that you know, the running
back Jonathan Silver is a really good player. Jake Though,

(04:48):
who's actually a Connecticut kid who works a slot for
him as an outstanding player. He already mentioned Jakari Kelly. Yeah,
they're a good team man there. You know, you don't
win as many games as they have if you're not
a good football team with skilled players who are smart
and tough. And like I said, they know who they
want to be. They're very well coached. They're very disciplined,

they're very tough, they're gritty. Uh, you know, they're kind
of what we want to be, you know, they we
want to play that brand of football.
