Speaker 1 (00:00):
Back with Jim more of the Yukon Football Coaches Show
at Mike Chrispino. One other guy I wanted to mention
from Delaware. He's a senior safety. Where's number two? My
son Pollard? I think that way. That's the way he
pronounces his first name. He had a big day against
Colorado out there in Boulder, six tackles. He's Norwalk, Connecticut guy.
You know, kind of those guys Jim, that you you
(00:20):
have on your roster too.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
He kind of.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Made the team as a special teams guy, right, He
blocked kicks, he kicked returns, and now he's playing safety
as a defensive guy. So there's a lot of the
talented players on these rosters.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Yeah. I have a lot of respect for guys like that.
You know, they did the hard way and that shows
their resilience and toughness. And he's a really good player,
Connecticut kid. So this game, you know, I think every
game probably means a lot to a guy like that,
but maybe there's added significance. I don't know. I want
to I don't want to speculate what's in his head,
but you know, I love the players that they had
(00:55):
to fight, man, they had to they had to, they
had to go through some stuff to get or they are.
You know, it shows shows the type of end that
they are. So you know, you always like, you always
like competing against guys like that, you know, because there's
just there's a respect factor that makes it more important
when you, you know, or if you can have some
success because you know that you know, a guy like
(01:17):
that's going to be ready to roll.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
A couple more minutes with the Jim Moore, the head
football coach. You mentioned Delaware last segment. We were talking
about their history. FCS school a lot of years, won
a lot of games. Every time you talk about FCS football,
you're talking about Delaware and a few others making the
transition to FBS. What are they going through do you
(01:39):
think in terms of elevating themselves talent wise and what
they're trying to accomplish.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Oh, I don't know. I mean, I haven't had to
do that, but I think whatever they're doing, it's working,
you know. I mean, you see it on film. You
see the way they play. You know, I can't even
speculate as to what it's like for them because I
don't know, but I know what I see and I
see Like I said, a discipline, tough, hard nosed football
(02:06):
team with a lot of talented players is very well coached.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
They are going to be jacked up right at home.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
I don't know. I just want us to be jacked
up on the right. I can't. I don't spend a
whole lot of time worrying about our opponent's psyche. That's
their coach's responsibility and their responsibility. I think any time
I spend worrying about them is time taking away from
worrying about you know, and not worry is not the
right word, but concentrating and focusing on what we need
to do. And that's the most important thing I can do.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
The energy you will need to win on the road
this week, how would you rate it? Is it going
to have to be better than it was a Syracuse
or yep?
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Do you think it has to be notably better? It
has to be. It has to be a giant uptick,
and it has to be that way every week, Homer,
on the road. Every week, you have to get better
every week. You have to play better every week. You
have to play with more energy and more resolve and
more tenacity. Man, that's ball that's competing you know you are.
You need to always be on an upward trajectory.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Always at quick final thought, we're going to talk to
ty Chan here in just a moment. You read shirt
junior offensive lineman, came from Notre Dame three years there.
How's his transition been to Yukon football coming from South Bend.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
You know, I would put him in the category of
Ray Melo. An amazing young man. Just just great to
be around, you know, serious, good natured, dependable, trustworthy, consider it,
hard working, tough, you know, new scheme for him doing
a really good job in there for us. Takes it
(03:39):
very seriously. He's another guy, you know, really happy that
we were able to get someone at his caliber both
as a player and a person on our football team.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Well, ty Chan will be with us, Ramelo Murphy, Jim
Mora of course joining us every Tuesday in the Yukon
Football Coaches Show. Jim, best of luck this week as
we go to and one.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
I will see you guys. Talk to you guys later
this week. Take care okay, thanks appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
