Speaker 1 (00:00):
Back with Jim Moore the Yukon Football Coaches Show. Let's
talk about the Buffalo Bulls. They're going to be hosting
the Huskies. They played the Huskies a lot over the
years they come in. Yukon is eleven and two against
them since ninety nine.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
But they're gonna be a little upset.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
They lost big at the Rent last year, and they
lost a tough game at home in which they led
fourteen nothing last week, So they got a lot of
They're gonna have a lot of feeling about playing Yukon
in this game. Coach, as you look at them, what's
your immediate thought in terms of what you got to
(00:36):
be concerned.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
With, Well, they played great defense, they're physical, they run well,
they play hard, they're aggressive, hard nosed, they're tough minded
football team. You know, their head coach has a special
teams background, and we know they're gonna be very, very,
very solid in that area. And then you know, with
Taekwon there, they've got a dual threat quarterback who can run,
(00:58):
who can throw, who's playing at a high level. And
they've got a big, physical offensive line. You know, the
right side of their offensive line and including their centers,
you know, a really powerful looking unit. So you know,
for us, it's about just you know, creating the right
mindset to go on the road and be road warriors
and do all we can to you know, fall into
(01:20):
the routine that's helped us, you know, win when we're
at home, and then go out on the field and
play with great toughness and resolve and mental toughness and
execute at a high level with great effort. And it's
not going to be easy. It's going to be really,
really difficult, and hopefully we embrace that difficulty.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yeah, they're running back al J. Henderson is is certainly
a threat big yards. Last year, gained over one thousand yards,
nine touchdowns, All MAC Player Player of the Year preseason candidate.
When you look at running backs and there are a
lot of good ones in college, obviously, what's the first
thing you think of in terms of what the threat
is from a particular running back?
Speaker 3 (02:00):
They break tackles and make people miss in the open field.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Do they have collision balance? You know? Are they going
to finish hard through people? You know?
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Are they good blockers? Can they catch the ball out
of the backfield? Can they can they hit the home run?
And this guy you know he checks all the boxes
on that, but you know it's a It's about a
guy that you know, at the end of the game
when you need to run the football, is this a
guy that you can put the ball in his hands
and he's going to go get the tough, muddy yards,
(02:32):
dirty yards, and this guy is.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Yeah, they're wide receiver. Victor Snow is dangerous too.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
I mean, his numbers last year impressive, fifty five catches.
He looks like the kind of guy that you got
to stick to because he could break it. He could
do anything. Really, he's he's a guy that can catch
it underneath. He can go beat you over the top.
I hate guys like.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
That unless they're on our team, right, But no, he's
a damn good player. He's also the returner, plays mostly
in the slot. You know, he's like all their guys.
He's tough as hell. You know, he's not the biggest
man on the field, but he's tough as hell. He's
tough minded, strong willed, and you know, you respect the
hell out of guys like that as a football coach.
(03:13):
That doesn't mean you want to play against him every week,
but you respect the hell out of them, so you know,
like I said, listen, we got our handsful. It's a
very good football team. We're going to play on the road,
and you know we have to we better, we better
be prepared and off of today's practice, you know our
guys have that understanding.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
But it's going to be tough.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Yeah, their defense returns nine starters. And a quick final thought,
you as a as a team offensively, do you think
right now you're kind of an offensive team from the
opponent's viewpoint, are they looking at you kind of going, Man,
these guys score thirty points every game. You think that's
what they're thinking.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
No, I think they're thinking, we're going to shut him down.
That's right thinking. And I think you watch and played defense,
I don't think they have a whole lot of regard
for their opponents. They just play like a bunch of
I mean, they play Mike, they play freaking hard, okay,
And I don't think they care who they're playing.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
I think they have a standard that.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
They try to subscribe to and you see it on
film and it's pretty damn impressive.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
All right.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
That's the Buffalo Bulls and that's where Yukon will travel
on Saturday three point thirty kickoff ninety minutes before we'll
start the pregame with Bob Joyce coach.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
We appreciated good luck this week. Thank you, Mike. I'll
talk to you later. All right.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
That's Jim Moura back with more on the Yukon Football
Coaches Show here on lear Field.
