Speaker 1 (00:00):
Final segment with Gino Oriama and then Maggie Veoni from
Ctoncaer dot Com will join me as we'll look back
at the Huskies over the first eight games. One thing
that you talked about last time on the Coaches Show
was film study and I just saw something on Twitter
with Dan Hurley talking about that on one of the
game days and how much time they invest with that.
(00:21):
How often on a given week do you do film
study on an average with your team? Is it usually
like day after a game of the first practice after
a game to go through stuff? How does that work?
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Yeah, regardless of what the schedule is. You know, how
many games we have, you know, like in this case,
we played, we played, we played Sunday, and then Monday,
you know, we watched film of Xavier and then film
(00:56):
of South Florida and we played Tuesday. Uh, Tuesday morning,
we watched film in South Florida. So, uh, yesterday was
a day off completely. Uh, you know, they did whatever
they do when they have a complete day off. You know,
(01:18):
they take care of you know, things that get uh,
you know, get backed up a little bit because of
all the travel. So there's nothing for them to worry
about basketball wives, and today we'll watch film of the
South Florida game, and uh, they'll do some individual stuff,
(01:40):
get some shots up, watched some film of clips that
they're that the assistant coaches have put together. You know,
each assistant coach has you know, their uh their film
with the with the players that they that they work
with on a regular basis. So you know, we'll watch
film as a team, watch films individually sometimes to watch
(02:05):
film and groups of tune you know, maybe you know,
let's say you bring in you know, KK and and
uh and Katie Heckel you know, and Calice, and you go, okay,
look this is what this is what we're seeing, this
is what's going on, and and just go over scenarios
that have happened and that uh can help us, you know,
(02:27):
going forward. So it's a big part of it. And
I got to tell you a lot of the film
is about us. Yeah, you know, you want to watch film.
You know, we watched film of the other team obviously,
you know, we we we want to know everything there
is to know, and we want to put together, you know,
a great game plan. But the majority of what we're
(02:47):
doing really has to do with how are we you know,
how are we improving? You know, here's the here's the
film in you know, early December, what it looks like
in mid November, And are we any better? We be
the same or we worse? What are we so majority
(03:08):
of the time for us to spend on self, you know,
self reflection and and you know what can we be
better at in addition to what the game plan is
for the next game.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Yeah, speaking of the next game, that's the Pall on Sunday.
They open conference play tonight with Marquette. But it has
not been a good start for Jill's team out in Chicago.
It doesn't seem like they're very big either. Unfortunately, they
play a ton of guard play.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah, that that seems to be more prevalent in our
league lately. You know, there's so few of those to
go around in the country anyway, you know that are
really really high level. So they play a lot, you know,
with a smaller lineup, you know, five out, lots of
(03:58):
guys that can shoot. I think the talent level at
the paul Is is down a little bit. You know,
they're having the whole changing coaching staff last year and
you know, new assistants come in. It's not easy for
(04:21):
Jill and her staff. And you know, basketball is so
much of a people have to be on the same
page and it takes a while to get there. And
in the meantime, you know, you're playing some some of
the better teams to start. You know, you got Marquette
and you got us, so I'm sure they'll get it together.
(04:42):
But yeah, it's not the same the Paul team that
we've been accustomed to seeing over the years.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Yeah, twelve thirty for that one on Sunday. We hope
he'll join us. Gin know, always a pleasure. Thank you,
my friend, and we'll talk to your Sunday.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Okay, Bob, talk you soon, Yes, Sir.
