Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right, final segment with Coach Caver live at Bear
Smoke Cow's Barbecue, Hartford. Thanks to Mister with the Mister
Messino and Masineo, Jeez Bob Hockey season Let's Go, and
mister Tattle for joining us on the show. Thanks to
Colin for all his work. Nice to see Dan Connolly here,
you made the trip over from Coachoriama's first presser of

(00:21):
the year. All right, let's learn a thing or two
about these Tigers from Colorado Colorado College. They play in
the NC where the last two national champions have come
from Denver and the defending champs from Western Michigan. They've
got some size, but it seems like they got a
bunch of new guys two on this team, a lot
of new faces.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Yeah, it looks like they have a lot of new faces.
And I know they have a couple of new assistant coaches,
so they may be bringing different ideas to the program.
But you know, it's more about what we do. And
I think today, you know, Tyler and Nick put together
a great video presentation. It was actually it was very uh,

(01:04):
it was edifying for our younger guys to understand how
we want to play and that's what we need to
focus on. It's just how we want to play. I'm
not too concerned with Colorado College. They're gonna they have
a great goaltender and emberco. Chris Mayo's a very good coach.
He's been around a long time. He knows how to

(01:24):
produce a winning program. We just have to go out
and play our brand of hockey, and that's the only
thing we can focus on because it's not like we
have film on them. But again, it's I don't think
they're going to do anything revolutionary on the power play.
It's going to probably be a one three to one
or a spread or nobody used as an overload anymore.
But uh, you know, the penalty killing is probably gonna

(01:47):
be straight lines or a pushdown. So either way, we've
played against it and we'll just have to adjust.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
What excites you most about the start of a season.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
I think it's, uh, it's just like when you get
a new car, you want to see what you got
under the hood. You know, I got a new car
in August, Yeah, right, what do you got under the hood.
I think it's just it's always exciting. It's a new
group of players and this is year thirty four for me.
So it's the first game. I always tell the kids,

(02:17):
you never get a second chance to make a first impression.
So let's go out there and play our very best.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
So get butterflies before the opener?

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Sure? Yeah, I mean you know you get butterflies before
most games. It's just when you compete and it's game night.
If you're a competitor, you get butterflies. If you didn't,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Much to you right final minute here, obviously we're all
Red Sox fans here. Yeah, did you get the fan? Wait?
All this year?

Speaker 2 (02:45):
I did a couple of times. It was actually at
the last Yankee game when Crochet pitched that Sunday night game.
It was my daughter's birthday and we went for her birthday,
all right, And it's Hudson Chando's birthday today, so a
little how.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Happy birthday, Hudson. Imagine he goes too long without being
in contact with.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
You, that's it. Yeah, No, we've been texting quick.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
I imagine. So did you have any insight on what's
happening for this year's team?

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Uh? No, but I've I've bounced a couple of things
off of him. The idea of things I wanted to
do and I wanted to get his opinion on it. Yeah,
it's a good job.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
See, he's always here. He's always going to be part
of this program.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
What's what's not to live about? Hudson chandor Well, Michael,
we've survived the first socks and went into although just
found out Gielito is not even on the roster.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Now I have to tell you that.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Yeah, well, you happen to see on TV.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
We're don't worried, but where about the players that are
suit up there?

Speaker 1 (03:38):
You go, all right, as you say, worry about the
game one tomorrow? Correct, All right, Michael, good luck this weekend.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Thank you. I appreciate it. All right.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
If the Yankees get eliminated, our first radio broadcast will
be October seventeenth against Ohio State. We've got those two
Friday games Ohio State and BU so we'll have at
least one of those on the network. Thanks to Collins
for helping us out with interview. Thanks to Tomasinel, Thanks
to Ryan Saddam, Thanks to coach hav Adam. I'll see
you Saturday. Let's do it football four on Saturday. Don't

(04:07):

Stuff You Should Know
Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
