Speaker 1 (00:00):
Coach daily your take on the afternoon.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Well, for just having practice for two weeks, you know,
it is an interesting gave an opportunity, gave us an
opportunity to play against somebody different than we normally play against.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
So a lot of good things, some things we certainly
need to work on.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Too many fouls, too many turnovers, some good combinations, some
combinations that probably didn't work as well, but overall it's
a It just gives us something to base practice on
for the next week.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
We were looking at the returners, it just seemed very smooth.
They didn't skip the beat when you played the two
person ball, was strong and fun, and how they were
able to play off screens.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yeah, I mean Aisy and Sarah have played a lot together.
But I thought Sarah Williams gave us some really good
minutes and she's given us something in the lane that
we haven't had for a while. If she's got good side,
she can finish around the rim and is a shop
blocker on the defensive end, so it's good to, you know,
have her in the back.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
I thought she did some good.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Some of our younger players and new players didn't play
as well as they've played in practice, so I'm sure
they're a little disappointed in that.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
I don't know if it was nerves, which probably was.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
That's why you play these, you know, you have exhibitions
with fans to give them a chance.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
To see what it's like.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Put the uniform on, do the pregame warm up, do
you want, you know, have pregame, do the whole routine.
So you know, it's not it's it's just a fun
day of basketball for.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Us, fun day for the fans too, right, they get
to see what the new you know, the new twenty
five twenty six season is about.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
You mentioned fowls.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
We were trying to think, Okay, what is coach Daily
going to be picky about how they get through? And
we thought that you said the fowls there and maybe
fast break points meaning that they they received the high
number versus that.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
You know, I thought we were disappointed at how many
threes we gave up. You know, we didn't have a
scountary report them. There were a totally new team from
what Boston College had last year. So but you have
to be smart enough to figure out in the first
couple of minutes the three point shooters are and I
think one kid had six with six for six from threes.
Oh no, that was free throws, but choose three for

(02:07):
four from three. So yeah, we have to get better
at defending the three point line, obviously. But again, it's
hard to think that when you played, we weren't even
practicing yet, because we practiced started October fifteenth, and now
here we are two weeks into practice and have a
first exhibition October thirteenth, so it's coming quickly. Our first

(02:27):
game is in November, November fourth, so we've got a
lot to do in the next couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
What is what will be some of those things that
you know they can't pick and choose by saying, Okay,
we're gonna run a newer offense, constant on defense.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
No, I think on the defensive end, we have to
do a better job.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
If we are going to be a pressing team, we
have to press without fouling.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
We have to get our traps.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Correct, we have to make sure we have the right
rotations in the half court d we we don't want
to give up threes, and you don't want to give
up layups, and we gave up a lot of threes
today and some apps. As you said, transition defense, and
then on the offensive end. You know, I thought we
got and I knew we weren't going to shoot the
three well because I was out for our pregame and

(03:10):
our shoot around, not to shoot around the pregame warm up.
We made every three every and I went in to
tell the coach that we are not going to make
it three and we didn't. All the kids off the
bench made one, and we ended up doing better for
the starters did. But we're a better three point shooting
team than we showed today. But I thought overall did

(03:31):
some really good things. They played some zone we have
to We only practiced zone like maybe one possession one
day this week.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
So a lot of good things, a lot of things
to work on too.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
I'm trying to be positive, and then you keep bringing
me down that bad path. I'm trying to be positive,
and every time I get positive and you asked me
what were we going to work on? That makes me
talk about what we didn't do well. So I think
you answered it perfectly. I couldn't agree with you more.
And we were just trying to think we got it.
We have there's something we have to pick up.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
If only eleven practices you guys must be doing I think,
is it after four years you just know how to
get the most out of kids in the early going.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
No, well we have we have enough returners that they
understand they can help set the tone and when you
have you know, Sarah and easy, they can bail you
out and make you look better than probably you are
at this point.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Well, congratulations getting the season off and thanks for your time.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Thank you
