(00:00):
Chris Daily, the associated coach ofthe Husky, said, joined us here,
happy presidents, stay in a greatatmosphere here at the Excel Center to
see your team have another really goodthird and get separation, to get yourselves
a tie for the Big East championship. Well, we don't recognize ties,
but that's you know, it's justone step more. You're the one seed
regardless. Now. Well yeah, but that I mean, and that's important

(00:21):
obviously, but we want to winthe whole thing right out. We don't
want, we don't want, wedon't like to share. Uh No,
great atmosphere. Really appreciate the fanscoming out on a day off, you
know, on the President's Day forthose that head off and those that had
we our kids had to go toclass. So the injured players went to

(00:41):
the went to class. That's whenthey were they were a little they were
tardy. Yeah, they were alittle like the late arriving crowd that we
have sometimes with but class, youknow. But anyway, it was a
great game. I mean, Ithink you have to give them a lot
of credit. They're a difficult teamto defend, and I thought we did
a really really good job. Andsay that, I think Jensen still had

(01:02):
twenty one and Molly had twenty orsomething like that. Molly had sixteen,
but that's pretty much their offense.Ron Soick again struggled. They really made
it hard for you, forced otherpeople to put the ball in the bucket
early. Every time Alie had touchedthe ball, it was like she was
a magnet and she was just gettingtwo or three players around her, and
we kept throwing it in there. And you have to really be care You
have to be really careful because likea lot of teams in our league,

(01:23):
they put two and three or fourpeople in the lane and it really limits
what you can do. You can'tput the ball on the floor. But
I give Alee a lot of credit. She kept battling. I thought she
got hit a lot, handled itrebounded well, and then we started making
shots. That third quarter that wasa lot of fun. I mean,
we went in, they scored thefirst five points, and then we came

(01:45):
out and I don't even know whatthe final was in that in that quarter.
But you know, it's been along stretch this weekend, and it's
been a long weekend. It feelslike we played Friday and then you know,
Monday, But we have a coupleof days off and we can get
gear up for the last couple gamesin the regular season. Now, your
take on the defense, I thoughtthroughout the game a lot of times,

(02:06):
you know a team, you comeout, everybody's you know, intense,
and then it's going back and forth. But it really I think Creighton just
couldn't withstand the pressure that you continuedto put on. Our defense wasn't the
problem even in the first half.If you hold a team that didn't score
as quickly as they can with toonly thirty one points. It was really
on the offensive end where we weren'tchanging sides and making them have to defend.
We were really letting them off easy, easily. But then you know,

(02:30):
we were able to put a littlebit of both together, where we
were on defensive pressuring and rebounding theball well and not giving them second looks,
and then being able to convert onthe other end on the offensive end,
got in, got out in transitiona little bit, which was good.
No dominant rebounder day Ashland led theway with nine. She was offensively
Yeah, I did not know shehad nine. Eliah had eight. A

(02:52):
bunch of them KK page Nika allhad six well the way, so when
you play a team that shoots asmany threes a lot along, guards really
have to and they weren't really hittingthe offensive glass. They were getting the
ones that were coming out long.So if you run in you have a
tend you know you're not going toget those. So the guards, that's
one reason. The guards had alot of rebounds and should I mean that

(03:15):
that's what happens, and they needto do that and help Leah out.
And she gave you Ashland gave youmuch na offense today. She did.
She knocked in some shots. Imean, we hadn't been shooting the ball
particularly well from three, but Ithought we made how many threes we make
we make more than they did?Yes, yes, that was the goal.
That was one of the goals,hi Jack. They made they made

(03:36):
I think they averaged nine a game, and so our goal was to make
more than they did and we did. So that's good. So your take
as far as you say the longweek, they seem still fresh like it
did. You didn't use you know, maybe and not as you know,
we didn't have a great practice yesterdaythis morning. We didn't do a walk.

(03:58):
We did a walk through at thehotel, did not do a walk
through on the court, so becauseit was such an early game. But
yesterday it was not our best ourbest practice, you know, prior to
the game. But we had enough. You know, sometimes it and I
say this and I kind of laughwhen you realize we won by twenty.
But you have to grind it outand you know, you have to grind
out possessions, you have to grindout quarters and still be able to stay

(04:20):
with it, and we were ableto do that today. Chris, what's
the game plan? You don't playagain until Sunday. Do you give these
guys a couple of days just toget away from the game and just worry
about being students. Yeah, they'regonna have h Well, they'll have two
days off and actually coach just saidit's like a year, right. Well,
yeah, he just said two daysoff, and he said, we'll
see you Wednesday, because it feelslike Sunday because it's Monday, so you
know, so we're like, no, no, no, we'll see you

(04:42):
Thursday. So they'll have two daysoff. Do you lock the door and
keep them out of the gym?Yeah? Well, you know, he
said it was probably a good ideafor them to get you know, and
get themselves some rest and catch upa school and you know, get in
a good place. I don't knowhow many of them will do that.
I think tomorrow will. I thinkthey get antsy, and some of them

(05:02):
that want to shoot the ball alittle bit better may get in on Wednesday,
but they I think they'll take sometime off. It's nice to have
that hunger though, huh. Imean just that they can't wait to be
back with you. Well, Idon't know, maybe not specifically. I
don't know if it's with us,but they know. I mean, I
think if if you if you area basketball junkie, and we have a

(05:23):
lot of kids that are, they'rejust gym rats and going a day without
being in there. But I thinkthere's also time, and this is one
of them where some time off wouldbe good. They need to get some
rest and so that'll be a goodthing, all right. Final note,
how much did you enjoy Senior Nightthe postgame activities other than Page's announcement.

(05:45):
Well, I have to say I'mkidding because now when people like Coach made
a joke, and I think somepeople in the media took him seriously,
but when he said something about hewas going to come back until she said
she was coming. Yes, Iknow, but sometimes people or when they
said or when they when he said, I had to force her to make
a decision. It wasn't forcing herto come here. It was making her

(06:06):
announce it because she had already committed. But that's another start anyway. No,
it was great. You know,I wasn't really sure how I was
gonna like the after the game, and I you know, you're always concerned.
You want fans to be there toappreciate your seniors. But with three
national anthems and four seniors and seniormanagers, we wouldn't have had enough time.

(06:28):
We had to start the day before, so at least, but you're
worried about are we you know,if we don't win, what kind of
celebration is it? But good, all of that, all of that,
you know, everything fell into place, and it's it's always nice to see
them. Our players appreciated the waythey were and I don't think many people
left and their parents were there tosee how much you know, the fans

(06:48):
here appreciate them, so that wasimportant. Did you watch the men Saturday?
By any chance I could only watcha little bit because we were traveling.
Okay, I went recruiting the guysin today. Unanimous number one.
Awesome And you know what they remindthey remind me of your great teams.
They're so unselfish, they're deep.If Donovan plays the way he did on

(07:09):
Saturday, no one's beating him.I mean, they got so many weapons.
I mean, they're fun to watch, and they're unselfish, that's the
thing. And that reminds me ofHey, I've seen this before many many
years. Well it's I thought thatwas a big game and a big statement
when and they've got another one comingup at Creighton. So we took care
of a Creton today and hopefully they'lltake care of them. It's tomorrow.

(07:30):
It is tomorrow night, so theguys are flying out probably within the hour
or so. Yeah, they're verygood. They're and they're a good group
of guys there. You know, there's a good camaraderie I think, certainly
with the coaches and with the players. They spend a lot of time in
the same area. So it's niceto see that. I say, let's
let's give kudos. Like coaches forgeteverybody forgets. Players get to relax as
from a player's effective coaches had itso easy. Now I realize all them

(07:54):
behind the scenes and all the workthat goes. I noticed in that right,
she's going recruiting and setting being ableto enjoy a Saturday, right.
Yeah, well yeah, and theflight out was yeah, I think it
was at four, so I onlygot to see a little bit. And
then when I landed and you lookat the score, I'm like, ohoh,
okay, yeah, it was closedfor a while and then yeah,
we started out close. But that'swhy it's forty minutes, right, that's
right. They had this habit likeyou used to they made they made Marquete

(08:18):
didn't play great, but they hadthis habit like the women used to do.
They make good teams look bad ona given day, and we'll see
how that plays out the next time. They can do it again tomorrow.
That's right. CD is always apleasurable in Chicago, thank you. All
right, that's Chris Daily and theDaily Recap.
