Speaker 1 (00:00):
We've got Chase Lunt, one of the guys paving the
way here today. It was an FBS record four hundred
and twenty four rushing yards for the program in its history,
you know, sixty six carries. How fun was it for
the offensive line to get to do what they did today? Man?
Speaker 2 (00:16):
It was so much fun. Man, Like, I mean, you
don't really get to experience much things like this, and
for this to happen the way it did, and with
all the preparation that we had throughout the week, it
was really cool to see just the offensive line doing
their thing out there at the backs making the great
cuts and find a way to get to the end
zone every time. So even Nick with the quarterback runs,
he did a great job as well.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
So and you know, it's it's a running back room
that I think at the beginning of the year people
would have said, Okay, Victor than Cam and then there's
depth behind it. But it was Darrell and Mel that
shouldered the load today. So what does it mean to
be able to know you've got four guys back there
that can do their thing.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Absolutely, I think from like the moment, like we started
the season this year, we knew that we could rely
on any one of those guys. I mean, we look
at each of their skill sets and they each have
their own different Nick skill set, And I think it's awesome,
like seeing the way we go out there as an
offensive line and execute out there, to know that whoever's
back there in the backfield that they're still going to
get the job done, whoever it is. So it's just
really awesome to see the whole thing Colm.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Nate as an offense seven pm start, the student section
was there. How much support does that give you, guys
coming out of the tunnel and knowing that you've got
the student body behind you.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Golly, there's so much energy from that man. Like you
guys don't even understand like we feed off that as
much as you think we do. So as the weeks
go on, as we go on through this home stretch,
I just encourage the fans to continue to come on
out and just keep supporting this man. We're gonna keep
putting up big wins like this in the future.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Nick Evers is a quarterback that does things a little
differently and obviously a guy that he almost carried the
ball twenty times tonight himself. So when when a play
gets drawn up for him, because he's not a scrambling
quarterback per se. It's a lot of designed runs. So
what kind of what do you see in his eyes
when a play gets drawn up for him?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah, no doubt. Like for him, I think he's just
a tough player.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
He just got so much grit to him. I mean
you just see the way he takes off and runs
with the ball, like he's not afraid to put his
body out there, and like when you see a quarterback
who can do that, Like, there's not many guys who
can do that. So for him to be able to
do that and put his body on the line for us, like,
it's something that you don't really see out of a quarterback.
And I'm tremendously proud of him and the success that
he's had and that he's going to continue to have
as season goes on. So it's gonna be great.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Last one for you, Chase. We're joined by Chase Lunt
here on the postgame show, offensive lineman for the Huskies.
I got you probably ten fifteen minutes after Mara coach
Morris said his piece to you. So as the offensive lineman,
they're all sitting around together in the locker room here.
What are you guys talking about after a performance like this.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Yeah, absolutely, like every single day, Like we're just still
gonna go back and watch the tape at the end
of the day and like we know that, like we
did a great job on the field, but there's always
some stuff we can clean up. So we know what
the standard is now in terms of going out there
and executing, and we just got to continue to do
that every week, whether it's in practice in the film room,
in the weight room. It starts all out on Monday,
so we've got to get ready for the next week
(02:55):
and get ready for Buffalo.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Good luck against Buffalo. Congrats on the victory tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Thank you appreciate it.
