Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yeah, I think it's a little bit different. Just learning
people's what people do well and what they can work on,
and just pushing them to be better. I mean, Zach
Connor pushed me to be better. And having that group
back together for year two is huge for us, whether
it's for punt operation field goal operation. I think that's
a big part of it, is just continuing to grow
(00:21):
together and know what each other need to work on.
You a lot of lifting. Uh we feel good about
where our legs are at. We do a lot of
single leg work and explosive work, so punters kickers. We
did a lot of that, and we're pretty excited about
the program that coach Brown put together for us. And
uh yeah, just just still staying at it and uh
(00:44):
ready for what's next? You like, Yeah, I do go
for lost golfers on this rosters, Uh best golfers hate
and peg. Joe Lou stats those four and my talker's
pretty good too. I'll put those five up there. What'd
you play around here? Winnenbury, Windham? We got all over
(01:08):
this this summer. We got out to Mohegan once. Uh yeah,
I try to try to get around the state a
little bit. I was Windom the new look. Yeah, it
looks good that they take care of the football players
and they enjoy having us out there, So that's a
big part of we like getting out there for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
How would you rate the season you had last year
and how do you build on it?
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Rating it? I think I think there's a lot of
places to improve. I loved how I was hitting the
ball for part of the season, but obviously didn't have
the start or coming out kind of how I wanted to.
So I think that's a big point of emphasis for
me this year, is being ready for that first snap,
first game, and then just carrying that momentum on throughout
(01:50):
the year.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Anything about yourself those early struggles, they didn't need to
come on strong down the stretch.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Adversity is a big part of what we as specialist
for everyone around the country, kickers and punters, long snappers,
and it's it's ninety between the ears. So just continuing
to grow and really believe in myself. And when I mean,
I was new to this team, so I don't know
how many of these people believed in me when I
first came here and was missing kicks. But just having
(02:18):
that confidence in yourself and having the room believe in
you as well. Is a big part of it.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Is lake work just maintenance for kickers or are you
trying to get stronger and add a little distance to
your your life?
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah? Absolutely, trying to get stronger. I think that's a
big part of it, not really just about distance, but
also being proactive about what you're doing with body parts.
You're you're kind of progressing and making sure that kind
of the soft tissue injuries aren't happening as often, because
that's the thing that we'll keep a kicker off the field,
a punter off the field that we often see in
the league hamstring squads, So just maintaining those and working
(02:51):
those as well.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Was there something that changed for you mentally last year?
I mean after the tough start, that's something click or.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
I wouldn't say anything really clicked. I physically clicked. I
think mentally I got to a point where they call
it flow state as well. We kind of talk about
and it's kind of at a point where you're not
worried about results and you just go out and do
And I felt like I got to that point and
I am trying to get back to that point ready
for this year and just kind of get back to
(03:22):
those situations and excel in them.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Can you overthink as a kicker? Is that why you
have to kind of get into that flow state so
you don't do that?
Speaker 1 (03:30):
I don't know. It's hard to describe flow state because
it's not really something that you can like just choose
to happen. It's a lot of reps that go into it,
a lot of confidence, and you don't know you're in
it when you're in it. That's the kind of thing
about it. That's the best I'll put it for that question.
