Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to the Yukon Football coaches show.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Huskies getting after it with Ball State this Saturday, three
point thirty kickoff, twelve thirty pre game.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Get to the doghouse, visit with Bob Joyce. Wayne Norman
will be there.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
I'll be there, and we're getting ready for Ball State
as the Huskies get back home. We're joined now by
Brian parm Where's number six. It's a senior linebacker for
the Huskies. Ryan, we appreciate you coming on the air
with us. You're California guy. There's a few of them
now on this roster. We saw a lot of guys
on a baseball roster from California. That's a long way
(00:35):
from home. So tell me about that journey. What's it
been like for you to come all the way to
the East Coast to play football?
Speaker 3 (00:42):
So my family's some of our families originally from the
East Coast nations. Just tell me about it. And I
just wanted to come be a part of a group
that treats me like family and makes me feel at home.
And I've heard great things about coach Moore all throughout
the times that I was being in college, and I
just understood the type of guy he was and the
type of things he brings, and I knew that's what
(01:03):
I needed. And also Julil Wadoo was here before, and
I'm very connected with him and his family, so I
knew this would be a great place for me to
come in and grows him in as a football player. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Yeah, I would think players are looking for that comfort level,
some familiarity, because that's a long ride. I mean, you
were in California, obviously, you grew up in high school
Long on Long Beach Poly High School, first team, all
stay a there, and then you went to San Jose State.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Three years there, you played.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Thirty two games, had a lot of good numbers there,
and then a year at Washington.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
But now you're here, and now you're three.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Games in and the Huskies took a couple of tough
losses here these last couple of weeks. It seems to
me a guy like you, with all that experience is
going to be someone that people are going to lean
on a little bit to get out of this.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Yes, sir, and I'll be glad to take all that
on me. We just gotta we just gotta be better.
We got to look at ourselves individually and then we
got to grow from that. Just more effort, more tenacity
on the field and just really take the coaching points
and apply on we's gotta we gotta take it in
be a pro every day with this process, like coach
Moore likes to tell us, So, yeah, I'll be okay
(02:13):
with people leaning on me. I know I can. I
can get the job done and rallies to get it
turned around. Because these two, these last two games, we
gave them away and them that's not like us. We
prepare too hard, We practiced too hard and were coached
too hard to give away games like that. That's just
that's just wasn't nice.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Yeah, I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Ten tackles for Brian Parham was with us number six
in your program when you watch them Saturday at the Rent. Yeah,
ten tackles. You had three sacks for twenty yards, three
and a half tackles for loss.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Tell me about the ability to get in the backfield.
I mean you were able to run free a couple
of times. You were able to bust through the blocking schemes.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
That is a big day for any defensive player when
you get in the backfield like that. So many times
against Delaware.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
I was just just doing the basics. That's all. It was.
Coach called the play up. I did what I was
coached to do and and it worked. I just try
to follow the game plan and be a master the basics.
Just if I got to stack my gap, play my gap,
play my leverage, play my coverage. But I just want
to do the simple things because that's gonna allow me
to make the plays to that. I want to play
(03:24):
the that I want to make to impact my team
and help us win the game. But those those are
great plays to make, but I feel like it was
off or nothing because of the loss. So we just
got to rally around that, and I just gotta try
to do more.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Yeah, one of the things one of the things that
happened in that game, I thought, obviously you guys were
in the backfield. We had five sacks, seven tackles for loss.
But Delaware bounced back from that. Usually those plays with
that you make on defense like that are momentum shifters.
Everyone you know on defense gets all jacked up.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
But they bounced back from that.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
I was pretty impressed in a way that they got
were able to bounce back from all those tackles for
losses against you.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yes, sir, that was That was a great job by them,
But ultimately it comes back to us, Like CoA. Moore says,
played the next play the first six seconds and then
on to the next play. It's in the past. So
I just feel like we got to do a better
job of that and just honing it into our job
and doing the basics. Doing the basics, all right.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Brian Parram is with us as the Yukon Football Coaches
Show five eleven. I'm gonna give the numbers here, five eleven,
two twenty three. I'm thinking you were like a fullback
in high school.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Tell me were you?
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Uh? No, I've been. I've been a skilled player all
my life. I never played on a fullback. A nice
play a little running back, but I've always I've always
been a linebacker. I played a little dB and pop warner,
but once I got older, I knew I was going
to be a linebacker. So, yeah, that's that's what I played.
The hotel. I played a little running back, but now
I'm along the linebacker.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah, I know, tell me about that because way I listen,
I played some football. I played on the small college level.
We always said, the linebackers are the toughest guys on
the team.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
I don't want to go near a linebacker.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
And do you believe that, I mean, the LB has
to be one of the toughest people in the game.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Yes, yes, or I do believe that because I know
you have to be like you just got to be
able to release the dog in you and be able
to give your team energy and just do the things
that other people aren't willing to do. Take on pullers,
hit the lineman, blitz like a d lineman, covers, cover
like a defensive back. So I just take all of
(05:31):
it and try to put it all together and just
do it to the best of my ability.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
All Right, you got ball State coming up.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
I know you guys will be, you know, obviously scheming
this whole week to get ready for that one. Maybe
number one on your list of things to do is
to really stop the run because Delaware was able to
run the football way too much on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Yes, sir, that's that's gonna be a big priority as
it is every week. We got to stop the run.
As a linebacker, I probably myself on that. So I'm
hurting right now in order that they got all them
rests on this. But I know I know what type
of team we are, and I know that we're gonna
bounce back in and so showed the team that we're
capable of being because we did a great job overs Syracuse,
but it wasn't good enough, and we did a terrible
(06:13):
job this week. But we're gonna get it together.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Yeah, your offense picked you up on Saturday in Delaware.
I mean, wow, they put together five hundred yards. They
were moving the ball up and down the field.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
I thought that was gonna be enough.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
But sometimes you get in these shootouts and it comes
down to a few plays, right.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yes, sir, So that's just on nuts. We got to
play better. We didn't play up to our standard at all.
We just we weren't I feel like I feel like
we weren't focused. Just we didn't have no energy. We
gotta have energy all the time on these road games,
and we just got to do the basics. Like I
said earlier, the basics is going to allow us to
continue to make plays and do the things that need
to be done for us to win games.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Well, you'll have the energy at the Rent on Saturday.
I'm sure people are jacked up for that one as
you take on Ball State. Brian Palm, we appreciate it.
Thanks so much for your time.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Yes, sir, I appreciate you guys too. You guys have
a great day and stay blessed.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Man.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
I appreciate you for talking to me.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
All right.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
That was Brian param Thanks to Natured Church as well,
of course Jamora with us earlier on the show on
Mike Crispino. Don't forget it's Saturday, it's ball stayed at
the Rent twelve thirty. You're gonna be at the doghouse
for the pregame and it will kick it off a
little bit later on two o'clock and then eventually we'll
kick the game off at three thirty. So that'll wrap
(07:29):
it up for the Yukon Football Coaches Show on Mike Crispino.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
We'll see you on the weekend.
