Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thank you made any pressing out there today, and you're
carving on a little bit more harper on squad. Do
you sense that when you're out on the field practicing.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Uh, yeah, I can sense that.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
You know, I've put together a pretty good camp, a
good spring ball and I can feel my confidence building
with the quarterback and with everyone else. So just getting
ready for to have a good year, doing my best
to put myself in the best position.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
And you were returning punch too, what's that like? Is
that something you're familiar with.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah, I've been returning punts since my freshman year. Uh,
you know last year I had to learn from TJ. Sheffield,
so he was very good. Uh so yeah, I'm ready
to do that learn from him. Uh you know, he
was just a pro in every aspect. He taught me
a lot, you know, on and off the field, but
especially punt returning. He was just the technique of catching
(00:47):
it and how to read it when it's in the air.
You know, I learned a lot from TJ. So I'm
grateful to have been able to learn from a guy
like him.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
Jackson. When you when you came in here, you had
a mindset with like Nighter some of the other guys,
You're gonna get on the field anyway you could. Yeah,
So what was that mindset of like their first year?
How did you kind of force yourself into a niche.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
On the team? Yeah, I mean it's it's tough nowadays
with all the transfers that come in being like a freshman.
You just have to put your head down and go
to work every day and fight for a role. Control
what you can control. That's really all.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
And so much of Special teams work is really about
passion and intensity and excitement. And for guys who are
from Connecticut and this really means a lot for them
to play here, how much does that kind of play
into the spirit that you guys have on special teams?
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah, it definitely means a lot. Being from Connecticut. You
want to represent your home, stay well, and put on
for your family and friends that you grew up with.
So I'd say it definitely means a lot in every
aspect of football.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
And now you're seeing some of the rewards of that
of being a good Special teams player and being a
good team guy. Now you're getting the opportunity to get
reps on offense.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yes, sir, how about the grind of camp.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Are you glad it's like kind of coming to an
end to.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Hit somebody else.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
I mean this camp has definitely been a grind. It's
been very tough, but we're putting some great work out
here and it should pay off this season. Okays, you
got tip for Momore from even like as a teammate. Uh,
you know, Chamar is a great teammate. Uh, you know,
on and off the field. He uh, he makes big plays.
He's always blocking. He's a good blocker. So yeah, Chamar
is a great teammate and friend. Awesome. Thanks, Yeah, thank
