Speaker 1 (00:00):
All of these house practice today.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
It was good.

Speaker 3 (00:03):
No, I thought it was a really good day of practice.
I thought our all of our energy was great. Everyone
just came ready with the right mindset and it was fun.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Hey, I said, it.

Speaker 4 (00:12):
Hasn't quite sitting in for her that she's an upperclassma.
Now has this sit in for you? What's that transition
into more more leadership role than like.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
I would say it's more set in now than like
when we first like came back. I think it was
just like an adjustment period. But now that we're starting
like workouts and like just doing getting more intense towards
the season stuff, it definitely feels like I'm older j
And like just cause like you've gone through so many
drills and like you know what you're doing more so
it's just like it just feels more normal. But it's

(00:41):
like still weird to think, but definitely starting to feel
a little bit older.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
What kind of leader do you want to be this year?

Speaker 3 (00:49):
I just want to be someone that my team can
look to, like for guidance, for support, whatever they need
from me.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
I just want to be there for them.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Is that kind of coming easier for you? Said that
you're really both but is that coming more.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Easily to you?

Speaker 3 (01:02):
I would say so, Yeah, I definitely feel more comfortable
using my voice and not even in a way of
like really directing people, but like just always talking in
every possession, every drill, just making sure people are in
the right spots, because that's what is so important I
think for this year is just our communication. We have
so many new guys that we have to teach them
kind of like our standard, and I think by communicating

(01:24):
and talking is the best way to do it.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
What is it like having five customers? How are they
integrating into you guys so far?

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Oh, they've been awesome.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
I mean they have all really bought into what we're
doing here, and they put in their best effort every
single day, whether it's workouts, recovery, like anything we do.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
They're really integrating well.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
And it's just been fun to get to know them
and play with them, and it's been a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
How are you feeling, Genus that you've got a little
hand strengthen going on?

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Yeah, No, I'm good, I'm fine.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
He was talking about it being kind of good to
slow you down a little bit and just kind of
I mean, what have you kind of just learned like
going through the recovery process and getting back into to
full go now.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Yeah, absolutely, I think it's definitely a good perspective change
when you are so like driven and go go go
all the time. It definitely has taught me to kind
of just like work with more pace, like really focus
on my body and making sure I'm doing everything I
can to keep it healthy and get back.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Going back to the new people auditioned. What's it been
like getting to know a Blanca?

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Oh, it's been great.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
I think that she is definitely someone who is like
older for like you wouldn't She's been a professional like overseas,
so she has that kind of mindset and that kind
of not like she acts like a freshman but also
carries herself very like maturely.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
But no, it's been fun to get to know her.

Speaker 5 (02:55):
But yeah, Sarah was talking about working out with the
guards a little bit more. You're just what's it like
kind of seeing her on that side of the ball
and playing a little bit of a different role.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Yeah, I think they I believe they call themselves the hybrids. Okay,
oh yeah, no, it's like her Carol, It's like Sarah Carroll.
And then Blanca are like the hybrids. I think coach
j gave him that name or something. But no, it's
been good. I mean Sarah's been a guard and a
post like last year, but I think even more this year.
I think she's really emphasizing that and be more comfortable

(03:25):
out on the perimeter and pull ups, threes, like driving
at all of the above.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
Are you seeing her become a little bit more comfortable,
a little bit more outspoken with us? Last year she
was a little more shy of more reserve. Have you
seen her just completely being herself anywhere she goes?

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Yeah? Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
I think she definitely is more comfortable and who she
is this year, and it's definitely shown on the court.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Off the court, I think she's.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Just just really breaking out of her shell and just
becoming who we all know who she would become. And
it's been fun to kind of watch that.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
As an upperclassman. You know what's different about you today
versus when you came here, you know a two years ago.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Definitely more sure of myself and more confident, I would say,
just knowing the ropes, knowing like what to expect the
standard here, being a part of that and building that
standard over the past two years i've been here. But yeah, no,
it's a big difference, and I mean I would expect
it to be a big difference going from freshman now
to junior year, but no, it's been really exciting, and

(04:27):
it's just I get more comfortable being here.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Like every time, what were you working on over the summer?

Speaker 5 (04:33):
Are there like specific things you're hoping to add to
your name this year or developed?

Speaker 3 (04:37):
I definitely, uh had to slow down a little bit,
but yeah, I just really want to emphasize maybe getting
the basket more, being like, uh, score all three levels
more consistently. I would definitely say that was the emphasis.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Just you know, obviously being a Yukon has such huge
expectations with the media and and so forth. I mean,
do you ever feel told in so many directions that
it's too much? And if it does, what do you
do to kind of get back to a more commerce
thing yourself.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
I never feel like it's too much.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
I feel like I'm very grounded in my values and
like kind of not being a big social media presence
of like a person compared to like some of my
other teammates, Like, I know that's their thing, and I
love that that is their thing, but that's not my
thing as much, and I'll support them one hundred percent
and all of that, and so it's never too much

(05:32):
for me, just because I try not to make it
consume my life so much. But yeah, no, it's definitely
it's it's there, but I mean it's not bad. I
don't think of myself as a celebrity. I just think
of myself as Ashlin
