Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi everyone, alright, you think no good? How are you guys?
Thank you, thank you. Welcome back to you guys as well.
But you missed us. I miss you guys a lot.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Yuah.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
How was your first day oh practice? What kind of
were the the takeaways? Uh? It was really good. Honestly,
our energy was up.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Uh. We were just high intensity, female for each other's
energy and just communicate with each other, which of course
brings us a long uh long way on the first day,
but it was just great energy overall. Uh, just going
thing the thing the thing, and just not really dwelling
on like what we did wrong, just kind of going
to the next play and uh, learning from each other.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
So has that something yet that you're a uppercrossman?
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Nope, it has not.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Kind of instill singing in uh, but taking on that
role using my leadership voice, being a leader of anybody,
you know, ask questions, go to them, but just always
just being that leader and role and just if I
see stuff, talk to them, you know, being that type
of leader.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
To stepping up this year, does.
Speaker 4 (00:50):
It feel any different coming back this year as a
defending national chair.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Of course, it was a great accomplishment last year, but
I feel like my, I feel like our team's whole
focus is of course this year you have a new team,
new kind of new journey.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Uh s.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Day one started today, so it's kind of just thinking
that way, uh in the new team.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
But of course, what have you seen from Kayli and Calise?
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Just their aggressiveness and you know how well they just absorbed.
They're absorbed like sponges. They learned so fast just going
to thing the thing bust. Also just their intensity level
and just their voices. You know, they're starting to of
course get the momentum of how practices will be going on.
Of course, the first day it was a good day
for them to see how everything else will go the
rest of the week. Uh, But their voices is a
main thing and just how hard they go each and
every drill.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Okay, you two years ago when you were a start,
you had Page or Nika along the side of you.
Just time, you're one of the upper on the upper class,
excuse me, and with other upper classmen obviously age whoever
Hash and Global comes once with their How was that
different for you than it was two years ago? No,
(01:52):
having like like.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Yeah, go over Page to rely on.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
I feel like you said, just having them to rely on,
but also me being a underclassman, me being a freshman
kind of leaning on them and asking them questions. Uh,
just kind of just switch roads a little bit. Now
I'm that person for other people just look up to
watch how I do things, but also just aks me questions. Uh.
As I've been here for two years now, and just
I know the ropes around what we do in practice
alongside Asy and everybody's here, Carroll and everybody uh that's
(02:16):
has been through the journey of how practices go, how
we do things here.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
So I've been being a leader of natural few like
save them back to your high school days, m or
whatever or is this something you've gotta learn development?
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Uh, I feel like each and every day is another
opportunity for me to develop a great leadership skill.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
But just me, for me is just finding my voice.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Uh. Of course I have a lot of voice outside
of the court. Uh, so kind of transferring that over
onto the court, and you know, not to be like
if afraid to say anything wrong, just say anything that
comes to mind. Just know that there'll be attentive and listen.
Speaker 5 (02:46):
So are they leaders that you wanna just interpret into.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
How you wanna be your own leader.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Yeah, just how they led by example once you wants
them do things, how hard they go, and how they
see the little things and just comming down the little things.
But just also like everybody keep keep everybody level headed. Oh,
it was a key thing I took away from them
as something they did for me as well.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
You had to such a really busy off season, summer
time being defend nancial chance to be out and about
I look back into this more controlled classes practice type
of environment easier or harder than to be expected. M.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
I would say for me knowing how everything goes when
I come back to campus. Uh, I'll say it's easier
to uh, easier process coming back cause I know classes,
where everything is.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
It's not just like a hardship. I'm just jumping right
into new things.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
So just kind of being aware like I'm I'm I've
been here before, just kind of knowing that, but just
helping the others out that I haven't been hearing this
process of classes, of how things go and recovery and
things like that.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
Was there one part of your game that you during
the off season.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Like I wanna be better at this M Just consistency
honestly with all of my game, uh, being assertive, but
just also being confident with it myself being that person
I know, uh I'm capable of being. And just also
my teammates knowing what type of player I am and
just them uh leaning on me, just not even that,
just them pouring into me and I'll pour into them
as well.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
It's like, this could be one of the deepest teams
I've had here in a while. How was that benefit?
Practice with different people can do different things. You don't
have to go out there for the whole practice, you
can have different locks.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Yeah, it just makes practice very competitive, play against each
other and learn from each other.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Just each and every day we grow as a team,
learning our new.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Tendencies, having a new team, having new people coming in
and just learning from that and just going from there.
Speaker 5 (04:25):
We there fast guards coming in and you must love.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
That, cause uh I love that great defense pick up
any times. So I'm I'm excited for that.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
Coach is talking about your on the court role expanding
a lot this year from the presiest couple of seasons.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Of one of those conversations been like, how do you
kind of see your game growing? Just like I said,
being insertive of being confident and within myself, knocking down shots,
attacking and creating for my teammates. Just kind of doing
all the things, the little things that I have been
doing the past years, but more of that, uh this year.
And being the person that I know how to be
on the court and off the court. Leadership crudns.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
We always the point guard and the extension of the coach.
How do you want to be an extension of coaching?
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Just kind of yeah, I just kind of, like I said,
being on the same level with him, being on the
same page as well during games, Uh, picking his brain
a little bit, going up to talk to him more.
It's something that I'll be feeding into this Year's kind
of something I did over summer as well, just kind
of going from there and growing with him and learning
what he sees on the court and how I can
kind of see the same things as him.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
So the first official practice with out page, does I
feel weird? Weird her times? You're out there and I
think that she might be on the wing and there
throw the ball there?
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Uh yeah, I mean kind of course, he of course
missed her presence. Just focusing on what we have here
and what we've got a new team, kind of what
we need to do to like kind of get better
each and every day.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
What's uh?
Speaker 2 (05:45):
She's great, honestly, something like sometimes she doesn't know what
we're saying, Like she'll just laugh, which is uh, which
is something I would do as well if I was
talking to myself as well. But I just kind of
she's a like I said, she's a sponge as well.
She knows the game really well, just kind of going
in and watching her. She has like a dog mentality,
just kind of like when she like slows down everything,
learns the game, and she's a She asks questions. She
(06:05):
asks plenty of questions, but she goes out there and
works hard.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Did she teach you guys to be Nish for Italian
a little bit.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
I'm a little iffy on it.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
I'm not gonna say anything right now, but she has
been teaching a little bit.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Thank you guys. Love
