(00:01):
Since for the same way Um opponentshated. So one thing, Yes,
yes, there sharks in the croatsy. I don't know why that's an argument
that I want, but yeah, that was another just argument. She knows
her own place better than you. That's fine, but I've looked it up
on Google and they said there's sharksand procecy. So seeing her home,
(00:26):
to seeing that country, to thiswhole really excited. I mean, just
to be able to experience other people'sculture and where Nika grew up. I
know everybody's excited, and everybody's excitedfor the whole Europe trip, but I
think Crochi will be really specially tosee Nika's hometown and sort of take a
divance to her culture and how shegrew up going back to you, and
(00:47):
he could kind of help that time. Winning arguments, Daisy says she's different
because she you can win you.You know, Azy doesn't care so much
to win an argument. Is thatIs that true? Like? Is she
more? I don't really care whatthis argum. Yeah, she thinks she's
so much her and well beyond heryears, but it's just really because she
can't win against us. So anyargument that me and Nika would ever have
with Easy would always be on thewinning side. So I think she's accepted
(01:08):
that and realized that, so shedoesn't even put a fight anymore. Has
this experience. I know so manyof these people, of these players have
become so close to you along theway that you've had a flung standard and
friendship with Easy priors. Just fightwhat you guys have been through as it's
something really nice for you to share, but you've kind of experienced with her.
Yeah, just to have somebody likeyour best friend to go to school
with and experience all these I mean, college is some of the best years
(01:30):
of your life, so to gothrough it with your best friend, it's
really amazing. And I know allthat we've been through, I want to
we wanted to be for something good, So we're gonna work towards that.
This year, we spent so muchtime with Ice. Do you know that
she can make an impact on histeam? Something you saw in her personality
or whatever. Yeah, she's sortof got like a fire to her,
(01:51):
like an edge to her, Likeyou can tell she wants to come in
and make an impact right away, even though that she's a freshman. She
has that hungryman's how and so Iknow she'll be ready and she'll be more
than capable of making an impact rightaway as soon as the season starts.
Seeming before that, is there acertain skill you know that she can bring.
I think mostly it's her mindset andher dog mentality, But she's one
(02:15):
of the most skilled players we havein terms of being able to play inside
outside her she can shoot, shecan play, she can finish well around
the rim. But yeah, Iwould say all that stuff. Most people
will hear your comment about you're notsure if you're if it's worth playing over
in Europe personally, and they'll think, oh, man, not another setback.
How come she isn't ready yet?Are you just taking trying to be
(02:38):
really patient? Are you over eagerto play or do you think you're on
track right now? No, I'mdefinitely on track. And if I mean,
I've had three surgeries in the lastcouple of years, so I think
everybody's just trying to make sure I'mone hundred ten percent healthy and stuff that
isn't even correlated to my knee I'mworking on and just making sure that all
(03:00):
the little aches and pains are minimizedand everything is taken care of, and
everything's measure as well, Tess well, and it's a lot more to do
with just than just my knee.So I think I'm we all are staying
very very patient and knowing what thebig picture is and that I want to
be playing next April and winning anational championship. So why rush and get
(03:21):
into anything now that doesn't necessarily haveto I have to? Are you like
a ninety percent right now? Imean, why would you characterize? Yeah,
I would say like nine less fivepercent. I'm working towards so you
feel good, you're optimistic? Yeah, I feel great, I'm in I'm
in a great position. I feelgreat. Um honestly, I feel like
(03:44):
I could play if I needed toif the season started now. But since
we have the time, we're justtaking all that easy. Said She thinks,
probably a lot of people have forgottenabout you and how good you are.
Is there something in the back ofyour minds of boy, I can't
wait to mind people? Yeah,I mean, yeah, I've got a
lot of this pens up emotions, anger, frustration from not being able to
(04:06):
play on Armory of College Basketball havingbeen here for three years. So I'm
just excited to get back on thecourt. I think people are going to
see, Fans are going to seehow much passion and emotion I'm gonna be
playing with just because I've missed thegame so much. And if people forgot,
I hope they remember. So whatif somebody told you that you and
(04:28):
Azy've only played like fifteen games togetherhere with that boggle your mind? I
mean, Aisy was blown away,So no, it's gotta be more than
that. But that's what it's about. Yeah, that's shocking, definitely,
not when we envisioned when we bothor when she committed here and when I
had already been here. But likeI said, I believe everything happens for
a reason and a good story willcome out of it. And obviously disappointing,
(04:53):
but we want to maximize all thatwe do have. Well, I
asked Mika and Aisy about this, just the way the Ohio State game kind
of blew up. It felt likeno matter what you guys try to do,
everything backfired. What was it likewatching it on the bench knowing that
and I've seen this games like certainbigger games that it was tough on you
to watch. What was that experiencelike just for you to see your teammates
(05:16):
go through that unfortunate. Yeah,it was. It was very hard.
Um. There was some harder gamesthroughout the season, but that was probably
the hardest. UM. Just knowing, like I feel like I could have
helped and I could have I couldhave made a difference in that game.
UM, and knowing how much Iwanted to be out there, especially in
March when the games mean the most. That's when players play, and that's
(05:36):
when players want to play. UM. But just seeing like the way that
game impacted us and after the game, the emotions, it was just really
frustrating that I couldn't make an attemptto try or help in any way.
What was it like to walk onthe court for the first time when they
said go out and you're able toget the green light to start doing stuff?
(05:57):
What was that? What did thatmean to you? I mean,
is everything just to see my workwork, and like just to see how
hard I've worked in just to seethe results and how much better I am
physically mentally. Um. I justI just never try to take basketball for
granted. Again. I know beforein high school I thought I was inevitable.
(06:18):
I didn't really have any major injuries, and now I learned that anything
at any point can be taken fromyou, So I just try to remain
grateful and so happy to play thegame. In basketball, you walked through
the timeline of what you've been ableto do, Like we saw you jump
into drills at the end of lastseason. But have there been certain milestone
steps that you've taken along the waythat have you know, seemed pretty rewarding
(06:42):
to you? Or Yeah, Ithink the first three months was pretty boring
and repetitive of just trying to getmy flex my flexition and extension back in
my knee. And then I wouldsay around like the three three to five
month mark, it was like dayor three to six months, like like
day every day to trying to getmy quads shrunk back, my shooting back,
a cat's back, everything lower body. UM. I would say,
(07:03):
around like the three four month mark, I was clear to like jump all
my jump shots, so I waslike doing jump shooting workouts UM, starting
with range. And then probably aroundfive months I probably got cleared for threes.
So those are like big milestones forme. Just be able to put
a ball in my hand in theshoot UM just made me extremely happy,
and six or seven months, Iwould say I started cutting more UM and
(07:27):
doing a lot more on the courtand movement wise UM, and I started
working on a lot of stuff offthe court, like jumping single leg,
jumping single leg, landing hops andstuff like that. UM. And then
like eight or nine months I gotcleared for I mean pretty heavy contact and
individual workouts and team workouts. UM. So that's been That has been like
(07:48):
being able to take the contact andbeing able to play UM makes me feel
like a basketball player again. Andit's been like really exciting for me off
season. Is there something in thetwo or the last two months that you've
been able to do? Are youplaying You can't play pickup or anything?
Right? Yeah? Just not pickupis like the main thing that I'm really
not doing. But everything usually inthe team workouts and individual workouts I'm I'm
(08:13):
doing and doing Like with four percentagepage, last time I saw you was
at the rally for the guys.Look over there. You weren' easy.
What does that mean to you?Taking it all in knowing that hey,
you're get to help knock on wood, you stay, everybody stays healthy.
This team could do that. Yeah, obviously, first very happy for them,
(08:37):
really excited for them, just forthem to have that feeling. But
it made me so much hungrier andjust made me want it even more because
I know how close it was tous and the guys winning and how happy
they were, and how much theexcitement to fans in the city had.
But just as a basketball player, like that's the pinome of what you want
to feel like. You want tobe in national championship, a champ,
(09:00):
and you want to win championship championships. So I would say that definitely made
me even more hungry to want tobe in that position and that's all we're
working for at this point. Youmentioned kind of
