At ninety five seven The jests Jody's ninety second news Update.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Now We're back, We're back, Where back?

Speaker 3 (00:09):
Carter Super Group, Cloudy Day with Rayne High fifty three.
Bad news Over at Amazon. They're laying off between fourteen
and thirty thousand corporate employees beginning today, marking one of
the largest workforce reductions in the company's history. Laps will
impact multiple divisions, including human resources, devices, operations. And in
case you're wondering why they're doing that, the answer is simple,

(00:31):
and it's a I Port of Seattle officials investigating a
ride share scam at SeaTac Airport after a viral Reddit
post described a guy's encounter with a man posing as
an Uber driver in a black Tesla. He realized something
was wrong when the driver demanded VENMO payment and drove
in the wrong direction, eventually dropping the guy off along
the highway.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
The one thing that Uber does right when it comes
to security, Yeah, and it tells you two dozen times
from the moment you hit go send me the driver.
So the moment you get in the car, yeah, check
the license platense and make sure that's your car.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
And this guy apparently had the trunk up, so you
couldn't see couldn't see the license plate, so don't get
in the car, not to say that it was his fault.
Melissa has intensified into a Category five hurricane, making it
the strongest storm on the planet this year. Mandatory evacuation
order is issued across vulnerable coastal areas of Jamaica. But
Melissa will cause extensive infrastructure damage. They're looking at communities

(01:33):
being cut off, communities being completely wiped off the map.
The storm has already killed seven people. Washington Creamery is
recalling several cheese products after three individuals, including one Oregon resident,
tested positive free e cola infections. Twin Sisters Creamery a Ferndel, which,
by the way, this is bad press for them, but
I'm gonna turn this around a little bit because this

(01:54):
is some good cheese. Okay, if you're ever driving up
to Canada or like, you know, up to the Blaine area,
you gotta stop at Twin six.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
You gotta stop that. This some good ass cheese.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
It is.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
They gonna put that on a billboard, they should. You're
ten miles away from that goods sheet.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Come getting Twin Sisters pulled eight batches of its Walcome
blue farmhouse, peppercorn and mustard seeds.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
No throw that in the garbage, but the rest of
it is good.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
The Stray Cats had to cancel some shows because Brian
Setzer is dealing with a serious ill nurse and Kelsey
Grammer is now a dad of eight. He's seventy years old.
Just welcome to baby boy named Christopher with his wife Kate,
who's forty six. In sports, the Sounders played to a
jow versus Minnesota cracking host the Canadians. Game four of
the World Series is tonight on Fox. The Dodgers host

(02:45):
the Toronto Blue Jays after the longest game in World
Series history.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Who wants to be there for eighteen innings? Eight? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:53):
So now the Dodgers lead three to two, two to one,
two to one. How could it be Game four and
it's three to two. Don't worry about the math. You're
always so worried about the Oh is she getting everything right?

(03:14):
Between the two of us, only one of us is
a journalist's degree. Don't worry about what I'm doing, you know?
And also what happened when the night football I forgot?

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Chiefs beat the Commanders great?

Speaker 3 (03:26):
No surprises there did somebody think the Commanders are going
to beat the Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Three to two. It's two to one, it could be
three to two.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
No one can have it started earlier and they played
two extra games.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Game four is tonight. Game four is tonight. That's true.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
You're going to the song of the day today from
our One Big Give for Seattle Children's Hospital Radiothon.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Bonkers. I can't believe how fast this year just flew right.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
By forty nine days until the twenty third One Big
Give for Seattle Children's Hospital Radiothon. At some point during
this year's Radiothon, we will surpass nineteen million dollars in
donations for Seattle Children's Hospital. It's a thirteen day, one
day broadcast. Along with that comes our online auction that

(04:14):
will unveil about a week or so before Radiothon. And
also with that comes our movie. Every year we do
a different movie. It started with Grace Too, our favorite movie,
and then it went to Xanadu Horrible. Then it went
to Mama Mia great movie, and now Little Chapahars. Little

(04:36):
Chapahars will be the movie this year. It's not gonna
be till the end of January, which is when we
always do it. However, the movie tickets are on sale
right now because we want to sell out the theater.
It's a one night only deal and it'll be at
the North Bend Theater in North Bend.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
If you haven't been doing of our movies, we there,
you know, they do a great job having themed cocktails
and there's great snacks available and it's a really hyped
up crowd and we encourage singing along.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
We do showdown on stage. Yeah, lots of boots. I
mentioned the boos, lots of booze.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
And that's why we always choose a song that has
choose a movie that has music, because it's a bit
of a sing along. At least Grease Too was, and
then Xanadu was a real bust, and then people sang
last year for at Mama Mia. But people are really
gonna heave ho for Little Chapahs so Little Chapahars.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
The tickets went on sale yesterday and from what I
understand from Kira over at Seattle Children's, lots of tickets
were sold immediately right out of the gate. Two hundred
and fifty tickets North Bend Theater, one night only. Once
all the tickets are sold, it's over.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Yeah, so by him a Saturday present now, because there's
always every year, there's a handful of people who just
like a couple days before the movie are like, oh,
I wish I would have got a ticket, but they're
all stilled out, and it's like, Bro, we've been talking
about this for months. Bro.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Like bro, it's not like we haven't given you ample warning.
Go to give to the kids dot com. Here's the
ample warning. It's happening now.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Go to give to the kids dot com. You're gonna
see a button that says little Chapahars. You're gonna click
on that. You're gonna buy your thirty five dollars ticket.
All the money goes to Seattle Children's and our bottom
line total for Radiothon, which happens on December sixteenth, forty
nine days away. I know I'm throwing a lot of
different dates at you, but the most important thing you
gotta do is go buy your ticket before the movie

(06:28):
is completely sold out.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
It'll be we want to pimp the movie.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
The movie is at the end of January, but just
go get your tickets now. Because Radiothon happens on December sixteenth,
and this thing's gonna be.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Sold out by then, if not by the end of
this week. Yeah, let's do it. So just let's do
it. It's really fun.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
It's the fun event Little Chapahars. That's our radiothon movie
this year. Give to the Kids Dot.

I was in no way mature enough to handle that,
so I hid in the office and cried because I

Carter Suber, Who's gonna be cloudy with Rayne High of
fifty three. Port of Seattle officials investigating a ride share
scam at SeaTac Airport after a viral Reddit post described
a passengers encounter with a man posing as an Uber
driver in a black tesla. I guess the guy was
expecting to get into a black tesla. He got into
this black tesla, and then halfway through the ride, the

(14:39):
guy demanded VENMO payment, drove in the wrong direction, dropped
them off on the side of the highway. So, dude,

beginning today, marking one of the largest workforce reductions in
the company's history. CEO Andy Jasse says they're trying to
boost efficiency by using AI.

Speaker 4 (15:11):
But I read at the same time the paradox that
they're laying off between fifteen and thirty thousand but hiring
on the work. What do they call that the handout?
What's the what's the what's the level where they deliver everything?
What's the what are those centers called the distribution centers? Yeah,

(15:34):
two hundred and fifty thousand people are being hired for
the holidays.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
Yeah, so they don't need anybody doing what AI can do.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
But AI can't do that yet.

Speaker 4 (15:43):
What do they call that? What's the what's the distribution? Yeah,
but there's another name whatever, there's another name for it.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
But that's that's a place where the trucks go. Yes,
is pull up and get all those things. The La
Dodgers defeated the Blue Jays six to five and eighteen innings,

breathe your salt lamp? Yes, a salt lamp.

Speaker 2 (16:56):

Been in a haze at the beginning of the show.
So had I not gotten that, I know that psychologically
would have definitely affected me going forward.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
Well, congratulations, We have no idea how far you go.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
You're clearly not gonna tell.

Speaker 4 (22:05):
I don't, But but so, like, is there like a
wall at Jeopardy in the Alex Trebek studios somewhere where
every single Jeopardy champion gets their name etched in something.

Speaker 8 (22:18):
I'd love that it'd be like the Stanley Cup, Right,
I don't think there is, but I'll give you some insight.
After I won my game, we went back into the
green room and there is a small closet with a
star on the outside. It says Champions Changing Room.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
Oh.

Speaker 8 (22:34):
So I went into the closet, I changed into my
next outfit, and fifteen minutes later I was back on
the stage taping today's episode.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
Wow wow. Oh, So it's like a marathon. How many
days would you do in a row?

Speaker 8 (22:49):
So they tape five episodes or a full week in
one day. Oh all time is at seven forty five
in the morning. The first episode is taped at eleven am,
and then there are three episodes tape before lunch. There's
an hour lunch, and then they tape two after lunch.

Speaker 2 (23:04):
That's exhausting.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
Did the second game have the same Did the second
game have the same feeling where you completely spent?

Speaker 8 (23:10):
I mean it's tough mentally, it's it's mentally fatiguing. So
I had one big diet coke for caffeine on the
buzzer and then try to get back out there and
do as well as the first game.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
Well, you're gonna crash.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
I know.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
It was.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
It was, it was. It was very impressive, It really was.
I mean, we knew you were smart.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
We love it.

Speaker 4 (23:31):
Puget Sound Showdown at nine to fifteen. Question that I
saw this morning. We could throw it up on Facebook.
You can respond via our talkback feature on the iHeartRadio app.
You can text it into five two three on nine?
Is it rude to neighborhood hop?

Speaker 2 (23:49):
On Halloween?

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Is it rude to neighborhood hop? My personal opinion is
that if you have lived in a neighborhood for a
very long time, and you have it on good authority
that there's a zero candy possibility, then you go. But
I also have it on good authority that a lot
of the rich areas don't always have the best candy.

(24:12):
Like my area in West Seattle is not the fanciest
area in West Seattle.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
But we care candy. But on Halloween, what do you.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
Think I am in the unique situation where my home
in Covington, Uh, we didn't have neighbors.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
That's so weird.

Speaker 4 (24:34):
And now in my home in Snohomish, we don't have
I mean, we have neighbors, but it's spread out because
it's country.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
You can mentioned why you didn't have any neighbors in
your house in Covington because you lived on a huge
property and also had a huge iron gate to keep
children out.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
And now in Snowhomish got people. It's we've got people.
But again it's acreage in it's country, so you're not
going to see kids walking down the country road, you know,
half a mile in between houses.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
Like one TOTSI pot right, yeah, oh, so you have
to go, you.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
Know, so we'll go trick or treating in like Antie's neighborhood.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
Yeah, because that's where we go and Everett. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
Or or you can come to ant Jodie's neighborhood, right,
but Aunt Jodie's got full sized bars, right.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
But it's easier to go, you know, ten minutes into
the Evertt neighborhood and drive all the way down to
west Sea Allley, just so you know you're invited.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
You're invited. What's she wearing. She's gonna be a firefighter?
Firefighter fantastic.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
Yeah, And you must love the idea that you might
get some kids, like, have you purchased any candy?

Speaker 1 (25:38):
No?

Speaker 2 (25:39):
No, we're not gonna be home.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Oh yeah, you're not gonna put the ball out that
says take one. I mean we could, yeah, I always
have the ball out that says take one.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
No.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
Yeah, but you're not gonna have tricker treating because, like
I said, there's no sidewalk on the street outside the house,
and it's like a mile down the driveway here.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
It's just how you like, It's just tell you like it.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
The only day that you mind this is on Halloween
because you're like, no idea.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
How far you know how hard it is bring the
garbage cans out to the street.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
Can I order up a house with nobody nearby, please,
so nobody bothering me and come and ask me for candy? Please?

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Can I order up that house?

Speaker 4 (26:16):
You'll have a candy YEA for the house. I got
a lot of candy. And Josh is trick or treating?

Speaker 2 (26:21):
Or is not?

Speaker 3 (26:22):
Josh is going to be in Las Vegas for a
baseball tournament.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
Is he gonna go tricker? Because it's trick or trick
or treating is different in Vegas.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
I'm so glad that we're talking about this. I said
to him, you might because he's playing for a team
that he's not actually on. He's guest playing for a
team of older kids. So I said, I don't know
if you chat with any of these kids or you
know them enough to know if anyone's planning on bringing costumes.
But it's it's Halloween in Las Vegas too, and you
guys are probably gonna do some trick or treating. So

(26:49):
I think you should bring my Tally costume from from
last year. He goes, I'm not bringing that, and I go,
then bring a Michael Myers mask or just be just
be a baseball player. He has a Michael Myers mask.
What if he was like Michael Myers baseball player.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Towey. I was like the Tawley costume folds up. It's
just a towel.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Spanning the glube to find the news you didn't know
you needed to know.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
You know that Daily Bender Gazette, now here's bender.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
Dude just got greedy or his mindset is I just
don't know how to do anything else.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
A man in.

Speaker 4 (27:33):
Texas Lowell, Massachusetts, a man is already on probation, was
arrested twice in less than twenty four hours, accused of
stealing three cars from two dealerships on the same street,
including one just thirty minutes after being released from custody.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
What is with these people?

Speaker 4 (27:54):
According to the police report, surveillance footage shows this guy
pushing in an air conditioning unit through a window at
about three point thirty in the morning, going through the office,
leaving the office with a key fob to a car,
steals the car. According to the police report, I guess
the car was abandoned at seven point thirty that night.

(28:16):
On the same day, they have him on camera breaking
into another place, stole the car, returned the car about
an hour or so later. They still hadn't figured out
who he was yet, because they haven't connected the dots.

(28:40):
Footage shows this guy going through the office of the
second dealership and then returned the second car to grab
the keyfob to the third car and bailed. But when
police showed up to go to see what was going
on inside the second car that was returned was a

(29:00):
key piece of evidence left behind.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
What was it.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
Inside the car was a police issued personal property bag,
the kind of given the kind of bag given to detainees,
So his personal belongings from him leaving jail was left
in the second of the three cars, so that he stole.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
Are we supposing that he stole these cars to commit
crimes with them and then return them to the dealer.
I would assume so, because that's like, that's a move
that you would do if you weren't an idiot, and
doing it right after you got out of jail.

Speaker 4 (29:34):
So the police bag had his name on it. Investigators
quickly connected the dots to the guy being arrested earlier
in the day to the dude. So he's now in
jail with the hearing schedule November twenty first, just before
thanks Giving.

Speaker 3 (29:51):
Seeing the judge of this one and just be like
you couldn't be out for a half hour, like fifteen
minutes or more without being like, well, I guess I
better get on it and start stealing stuff immediately.

Speaker 4 (30:04):
Three cars in twenty four hours from two dealerships in
one day, and I think I got all
