Boeing said that it completed a four point seven billion
dollar purchase of key supplier Spirit Aerosystems, which builds fuselages
for the company's seven thirty seven Max jetliners. And if
the name of that company sounds familiar, they were the
ones who built the fuselage with the door panel blowout.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Remember the door panel blowout. No, I thought you were
going to say that. If it sounds familiar, it's because
Spirit Airlines. That's different. Spirit Airlines and Spirit Arrows different. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Remember when the door blew out of the flute, Alaska
was just like or yeah, Alaska was like, it's Spirit air.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Hos System's fault.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
So now now Boeing owns that company. Why on earth
if you were an airline would you name it after something?
Maybe it has the same name or whatever. Why would
you name it that. I know I'm off topic, but
when you said if that sounds familiar, yeah, but went
down a different path. The word spirit means a lot
of things to a lot of people. You can't own
out a spirit. But not in the same business. Not
(01:29):
in the same business. No, that's true.

cakes to customers who make a purchase of at least
ten dollars. I gotta say, I feel like that's very
generous of Domino's Pizza because they could say everyone gets
a free cake. You know, you get one free cake
with order, but instead they're doing three. I haven't ever
had one of those. They look really good in the commercials.
Nominees through the Golden Globes announced yesterday, one battle after
another and the White Lotus led the movie in TV categories.
(02:25):
Wicked for Good didn't get nominated for Best Picture, but
it is up for the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award,
which is for crowd pleasing movies. I think that's the
one that Barbie won.

former Army ranger. No, I'm having a big problem this morning.
It's not like I have a big piece of steak
in my mouth or something. I just can't talk anyway.
He Channing Tatum is a former Army ranger.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
What am I saying? Ranger? I don't know? Ranger who
the top.

nickname from breaking into places by cutting holes into their roof.
After he escapes prison, he breaks into a toy's arrest

And we're at a tarn.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Also in sports, losing streak hits six for the krackt four.
Speaker 1 (04:22):

great job. One week from today is Radiothon live from
CNL Children's Hospital. However, today the online auction is now open.
If you go to Give to the Kids dot Com,
click on the online auction, you'll see all the stuff
that's available to bid on and buy. It runs through
next Tuesday. The auction ends. All the auction items and
(05:46):
about fifteen minutes before Radiothon ends at seven pm Tuesday night.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
And we got a dozen great items, some sports related,
some are things that you can do with bender or myself.
All of them are things that you can't go to
the store and just buy.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Which is great. Is it a dozen items? Yeah, it's
a dozen NMS with couple that have multiple right in there. Yeah,
like the Crack and Suite. You can, yeah, the crack
and we have five auction items for the Crack and Suite.
We have five different auction items going on for that.
(06:24):
When you can see the crack and from the Iheartsuite
it's catered. You get parking underneath climate played. You mean
five different people can win, five different people can win,
and each person gets a plus one. Yeah. So yeah,
so that's that's just one. The other one for sports
is we have tickets for the Thursday night football game.
(06:45):
It's the Seahawks and the Rams, the final regular season
home game. This thing has all kinds of playoff implications.
Plus we have on field pregame passes. Uh, so you
get to be on the field before the game starts,
get to see all the players, you get a picture
(07:06):
with Blitz, the whole deal. So that's up there as well.
What a game to have that for too. You can
go hiking with Jody. Now see this is this is
this is new this year. You get to go hiking
with Jody. Right, You're you have to determine the two
of you the winner, and you Jody will determine where
you guys are going to go hiking, and the winner sure, yeah,
(07:30):
and the winner is paying to go to a desolate.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Location with me, with you and three of their friends. Also,
Oh good. Yeah, so you'll be completely outnumbered. Yeah, so
your phone, so your phone will have your tracker on.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Yeah. Just so you go hiking into the woods. Yes,
with a complete stranger, somebody who bid money. The money
goes to the hospital. That's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
And then you disappear and I will obviously have a
buddy who will know when to expect me home and
everything will be fine. Plus I have chosen one of
my own personal technical backpacks, an Arii thirty liter Venturi,
many exciting pockets, and I'm gonna cram it full of snacks.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
And that's part of the package. So hiking with Jody,
dinner at my house, you get to take on Jeopardy
Champ Aaron Levine in studio here.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Top five, Tuesday, December ninth, nineteen eighty six.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
The music is great.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
You know it, you love it, and it'll start right
after this powered by Carter subru Well. Cloudy Skies and
a Break in the Rain. But there are over twenty
separate flood warnings for different rivers all around our state,
with multiple already reaching major flood stage. Also a mud
slide block the eastbound lanes of I ninety late last

of Jeffrey Epstein. Lawmakers from both parties will support the
administration releasing video of the US military's controversial double tap
strike on an alleged drug boat. Both Republicans and Democrats
say they want to review the unedited footage of the
(09:14):
follow up strike back in September that killed two survivors
after nine others died in the initial attack. How much
is Powerball worth now that nobody won yesterday? Nine hundred
and thirty million dollars. That is a bit of generational wealth.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Yes it is, Yes it is.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
And Josh and I keep talking about it because we
keep buying Powerball tickets together, and I keep telling him
to put good luck on him, and so he blows
on him and he crumples them.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Oh, hold on and you say you're buying tickets together?
Exactly does that mean?
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Like he's in the car and I go, oh, crap,
I got to pull over and get Powerball tickets.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
He's not He's not throwing his own cash. Nohitty. No.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
But I've been discussing it and I use the term
generational wealth the other day and I said to him,
if we won eight hundred and twenty million dollars so
we took home, I'm like, six hundred million dollars, what's
the first thing that you would want?
Speaker 1 (10:03):
And he goes, I want you to buy me a
golf course, And I was like done.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
And then I started listing all the people that I
would give money to so that the universe can hear
that I'm a generous person.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
And I want you to know bender yes, you're first
on my list.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
Thank you, only because we made that deal. I mean
we made the deal of ten million dollars.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
That's right. If you win, I get ten million, and
if I win, you get ten million. Of the audience
gets one for the song of the.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Day, right, which today is not worth a million dollars.
By the way, if you win, you only walk with
like five hundred million.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
You can't even barely shop a piece. You can, you
can barely get by and put food on the table. Oh,
I do so much good.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
More than two hundred thousand power banks sold on Amazon
are under a recall after nearly a dozen fires and
injuries were reported in connection with the faulty banks. The
brand is I NIU, I NIU, So go ahead and
make sure you don't have one of those and get
in touch with Amazon. The self driving car company Waymo
pumping breaks on their robotaxis in Austin, Texas.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Why you ask?
Speaker 2 (11:03):

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Chaz says, I was twenty two with two kids. My
wife and I were both working fifty hour weeks in
a tiny, two bedroom apartment, and we didn't have a
clue what we were doing.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
From Reincarnation, Sybil Shepherd loses her husband in a car accident,
and the husband dies and is reincarnated as Robert Dandy Junior,
who doesn't recall anything until suddenly he starts dating Mary
Stuart Masterson with Shepherd's daughter yeso, and then suddenly he
(12:46):
starts to remember everything.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
And Mary Stuart Masterson's character her name is Miranda, Yeah,
which is where Bailey got her middle name. Oh wow,
you really like that. Loved that movie? So did leave
Mary Stuart Master didn't hook up with her mom. Uh,
I'm not gonna spoiler alers.
Speaker 2 (13:03):

in like twenty years.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Aw, there you go. Our Top five Tuesday December ninth,

(14:14):
You're gonna be taking on Mike on the line. Tickets

way out of context. That whole kkk thing didn't sound.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Yeah, I'm gonna ask you to edit it after we
get out of this. No one's ever gonna hear that again.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
We had a champion by the name of k in
West Seattle and Jody always does the chant three times right,
and it just didn't sound right. Yeah, Jody has the
questions this morning. You guys gotta buzz in with your
name when you know the answer. First person of five
correct answers wins. Good luck, Here we go. Bill Murray

Speaker 1 (16:23):
That is correct. That's Jody's ninety news update.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Now, look out, everybody, powered by Carter Suber. Lots of
flood warnings today for all the different rivers around the area.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Sure you got great house.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Right on the river.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Look, honey, it's right on the river.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Well, they all be cresting today. They're also expecting mud slides,
especially in places that are fire effected. So just make
sure you check and make sure that.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Make sure you wrote that. Then they all be cresting again. Yeah,
you with your weather terminology. It's the Washington accent. That's
how they talk. They be creston crest Washington pirates.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Yes, by the Skycomas River. From how I understand it,
you have to be careful over there. Seattle just crossed
a pretty cool demographic threshold, likely the first for any
major US city. More than seventy percent of Seattle residents
aged twenty five and older have a bachelor's degree or higher. Well,
how about us, that's why we all look so smart,
(17:26):
especially me with my degree that is so useful.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
I don't have one. I have six weeks of community college.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
You did great, Look at me six weeks of community
college and then you were like, ah, I'm out of here.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
I'm good. I went to community college six weeks. My
dad spent all that money and I got a gig. Yeah,
and I'm like out of here about it.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
We're perfect for each other because with my broadcast journalism degree,
literally the only thing I remember is the slander portion
of it, so like not to slander people. So this
show is not gonna slander anybody publicly, and we'll be
okay publicly privately, for there's a lot of slander going on.
Powerball jackpot nine hundred and thirty million dollars. The next
straw is tomorrow. The latest TikTok food trend is grinch spaghetti.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Hey bender, what do you think grinch spaghetti is? It's green?
Speaker 2 (18:21):
You had food coloring to the pasta water to die,
the noodles and gross. But kids probably love it to
celebrate their sixty fifth birthday. For the remainder of December,
Dominoes is offering three free chocolate lava crunch cakes to
customers who make a purchase of at least ten dollars
or more. I'm not a Domino's customer, but good on
them for doing three lava cakes instead of one.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
I can't believe it.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
I'm still not going to be a Domino's customer after this,
because I'm hardcore Proletariat Pizza. Wha what when in West
Seattle you eat at Proletary Pizza? But that's really generous
of that. Three lava cakes?
Speaker 1 (18:59):
All right? How many Lava kicks do they have in
the pantry back there?
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Like?
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Do you think that they just had like a million
lava game? Also maybe just like this big?
Speaker 2 (19:07):
Oh right, yeah, I don't think they're very big, but
still yeah. Three very generous nominees for the Golden Globes
announced yesterday, One Battle after another and White Lotus led
the movie in TV categories. Wicked for Good did not
get nominated for Best Picture, but is up for the
Everyone Likes This Box Office Achievement Award, which is for
popular movies in sports. Losing streak hits six for the
(19:32):
Seattle Krack and a four to one loss to the
wild They have the Kings tomorrow and the Kings tomorrow
is when we're gonna break the streak.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Jody's calling it. Oh oh my god. Twenty third time
doing Radiothon will be live at the hospital next Tuesday
from six o'clock in the morning until seven o'clock at night,
thirteen hours, trying to raise money for the Uncompensated Care Fund,
which allows any mom and dad to bring their kid
to the hospital regardless of financial ability to pay for anything,
(20:03):
because mom and should have worried about that. So even
if you have the best insurance in the world, even
if you have no insurance, the Uncompensated Care Fund is there.
And I've had a couple people ask, what do you
mean even if you have insurance, I don't know by you,
but your kid goes to the doctor, goes to the hospital,
whatever it is. The deductible is ridiculous. And then once
(20:29):
the deductible is paid for, where you have to rack
up enough of the deductible paid off to have insurance
pay for what needs to be paid for it theyn't always.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Pay for very ridiculous diagnostic testing anything. Blood work isn't always.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
Covered, so it's the Uncompensated Care Fund. The hospital will
step up and help you pay the bills. So that's
why we do what we do every year. And at
some point during this Radio Thumb we're going to cross
over nineteen million dollars in donations since this thing was started, fantastic.
One of the components to this thing is our online auction.
(21:04):
Every year we got a bunch of cool stuff up there.
This year is no different. The online auction is up
and live and is good to go for the next week.
It will end just before Radio Thought ends next Tuesday
night at seven o'clock. Some of the auction's up there,
like Aaron Levine over at Fox thirteen. He's the sports
guy over there. He's also a Jeopardy champion, and he
(21:27):
has played Puget Sound Showdown many of times, and we're
going to bring him in here and you get to
bid on coming in in here to play Puget Sound
Showdown in an extended game against Aaron live here in studio.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
Right, So it's like you get to play Puget Sound
Showdown and you get to meet Aaron Levine and you
get a studio tour.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Also, Yeah, really cool stuff. That's a really fun one.
You get to go hiking with Jody and.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
We'll decide, depending on how fit you're feeling or how energetic,
we'll go up a steep hill or we can go
on I don't care. We're gonna wander around the woods
somewhere and you're gonna get one of my personal backpacks,
and I'm gonna bring my dogs, and you can bring
three of your friends and uh and Bender thinks it's
really funny to keep mentioning that I'm never coming out
(22:13):
of the woods, and that'll be.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
Our ru multiple people into the woods. It's gonna be
really fantastical. They donated in the hospital. That's fantastic. Whe's Jody,
I don't know. We haven't seen her since the hike.
One of the other items has always dinner at my house.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
This year we're doing it a bit differently. Yeah, it's
changed a little bit over the games, a little bit
over the years. First of all, Angel of the Winds
Casino Resort doing the UH catering again, so it's a
multi course meal and as opposed to one person winning it,
I've opened it up to three different auction items under
(22:49):
the same umbrella of dinner at my house.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
So basically bidding to attend a dinner party's.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
Corect dinner party at my house.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
And just so everybody's clear, we talk about and make
fun of your childlike palette that you only eat chicken
tendis and plane burgers, but that is not the meal
that you are bidding on. This meal that they did
last year was like super fancy with past or derves
and specialty cocktails. Yeah, so this is legit. You're not
having Bender food. They also bring Bender his own stupid food,
(23:19):
you know, like a little bag of popcorn or something.
But everybody else what they have last year Risota a
gorgeous Yeah, gorgeous manter of fact.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
I'll post the video that we made for it up
on our Facebook page at Jodie and Bender again. Go
to Give to the Kids dot com click on the
online auction. The Mariners have once again stepped up. We've
got three different Mariners auctions. One have your kid yell
playball at the beginning of the game.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Who hasn't had a kid? Who goes, how do I
get to do that? When you're at the Mariner's game
and there's a kid up on the big screen and
they get to yell playball. You also have the game
ball delivery. You also have the on field watching batting
practice before the game with the Mariners, and all of those,
all three packages come with tickets to the game. You
got wine drinking with Jody, you got golf with me
(24:09):
up at avalon Golf Links, Seahawks tickets Thursday Night Football
the Seahawks and the Rams. It is a week from
this Thursday.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
And that comes with on field passes before the game.
So you get to see you know, all the players
and get to see Blitz and take a picture with him.
We've got the Kraken Sweet. We've got a Lego party
at Bricks and Minifigs at Northgate. There's a ton of stuff.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
There's golfing with Bender, right, which is you get Bender
all to yourself for many hours. And I.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
Tax to five, two, three on nine, Just how long
is the game of Puget sound show down with Aaron
Levigne in studio if we win the auction. I don't know.
First to ten, No, it'll probably be fifteen. I don't know.
I think ten. Well, the game right now is five, yes,
(25:04):
so to attended is double the time, or it'll be
like the best of three, best of three games. Yeah, yeah,
nor we don't know. But you get to come in studio.
You have to play Pewted Sound Showdown up against not
only a sports god in the broadcasting world that is
(25:29):
Aaron levinover at Fox thirteen, but he is a three
time Jeopardy champion. So you get to come in and
you get to be humiliated right here on the air
with how smart Aaron is and how smart you are
not against the Jeopardy champion. Well, it's gonna go one
of two ways.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
We're gonna get somebody who's a total masochist who just
wants to be beaten into the ground, or we're gonna
get someone who's pretty decent, because we got a lot
of really Hall of Fame quality trivia players who listen
to this audience and in this audience.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
And by the way, Aaron is not a Hall of Famer.
See now, why do you have to what are you?
What are you doing? Well, I'm just saying you may
have a chance against him. Aaron has made it to
a Hall of Fame game. He has his own game
Game eight named after him. And you're gonna you're gonna
throw shade at Aaron Levine.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Well, I don't think that we want people to bid
on something and be humiliating. If they're gonna come in
and do just fine.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
You want to come in. You want to because the
money is going to Seattle Children's right, and and and
being beaten by Aaron Levine, who is a Jeopardy champion,
is not anything to be embarrassed by. And he'll be
a fine sport, I'm and of course he'll be a
fine sport. And you bidding money to come in here
and lose in an extended game of Puget Sounds showdown
is like you offering up going hiking in the woods
(26:46):
with Jody and you know, to walk in one walk out.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
Mad Max style. No, they're allowed to bring three other
people too, So it's that's coal.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
It's gonna be five walking in and four walk out. Hey,
where the hell's jow? Everybody's so worried about me. Don't
worry about me. I'll be fine jo Jody. Amongst all
of the Radiothon auction items that is up and give
to the kids dot Com, one of the items is
go hiking with Jody. So let me ask you this
what if they win both wine, drinking with Jody and
(27:17):
hiking with Jody? Best day ever? Will it be the best? So?
Do you go hiking first and then drink or do
you drink and then go hiking, hike and see? Would
I would drink and then go hiding. No?
Speaker 2 (27:27):
Not if you're doing anything for you, I know you're
joking around. That would be a great day. Oh, I
gotta be a great day. And that's just two of
the items.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Let's do it. Three of the items that are up
right now and give to the kids dot com are
radiothon auction. You don't know the struggles that some people.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
Have, Well, damn it all the hell. I was ready alert,
I knew what the song that the day was. I
actually heard the first opening notes. I'm driving along in
my car. I sell my car, car, call Jody and
be under And what does car do? Car says, I
(28:03):
don't recognize that command.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Damn it. We're sorry. We'll do it again tomorrow. Properly, yeah, properly. Yeah.
I don't know if that's funny or insulting to us?
The cars like who the hell? Spinning the globe to
find the news you didn't know you needed to know.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
You know that Daily Bender Gazette. Now Here's Bender.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
You gotta be careful, even when you're doing mundane things
like going to the bank. You gotta make sure that
your business is taking care of A guy in Florida Woodsfield, Ohio.
He was arrested for sending or accidentally sending a baggie
(28:52):
of meth through the bank's tube system. He was he
was in the drive room and according to the bank
employee who was handling the drive through window, uh, they
called the police because the employee found a crystal like
substance consistent with meth in a baggie that had accompanied
(29:14):
transaction sent through one of the bank's air tubes.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
Oh God, imagine that idiot in his car like holding
onto the bag and then he went to put the
deposit in and he realized and he's just like.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
Oh, okay, were you holding onto the math while putting
because you because you got the tube there, yeah, and
you you open up the top of it and you
drop in the check or the cash or the bank
slip and then you close it and then you put
it up the tube that it takes off. Right.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
He was probably hatching it. He was clutching it in
his hand, and so he dumped everything in there.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
Oh you think that the math wound up in the tube? Yes,
and not. He was holding onto the math while trying
to put the the tube thing into the I.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
Think it went into the tube because he was clutching
onto it. You know how sometimes like when you're walking
around the kitchen, you have multiple things in your hands,
and then you know, by a mistake, you put the
milk back in the pantry and you put the crackers
and the refrigerator. This was a crackers in the refrigerator situation,
but it was meth.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
What a nightmare? According to UH, the ensuing investigation authorities
determined that the defendant had inadvertently sent the package of
math to the bank through the tube.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Oh man, or what if that was like meth delivery
service gone wrong? Because Larry was supposed to be at
the bank at that particular brand ordered the drive you know,
like with extra pepperoni or whatever they say for you
to get the math with some money.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
So then the girl working the drive through window at
the bank is Larry. Larry that showed up right. Let
me ask you if you're working the window cool, I'm
asking this is the wrong question. Turn it around, ask
(31:11):
me the question I'm going to ask you, because you
know what I'm going to ask you. What would you
know what meth looked like? Yeah, I've watched a lot
of Breaking Mad, don't you watch Brad? Wouldn't know what
it looked like. I mean, I guess if if you're
if you you open up the tube, the plastic tube
thing that just came through the air tube, and you
(31:32):
pop it open and you take out the cash and
the check and also in a little baggy of powder
pops up, I guess it would be I wouldn't know
it was math, right, so I would I would know
probably that this is there's something illicit in here. Let
me help you with this because of Breaking Bad.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
I can help you with this. You know when when
you're a good boy and you get a stick of
rock candy? Yes, so that but like crushed up a
little bit, all right, Yeah, it looks like sugar in
a packet, but like some bigger chicks.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
The more you know, we can all visualize the rainbow
with the star going ahead. All right, we wrapped the
show with you. What do you got? Good morning, Jody
and Bender. I was wondering if you could play talking
heads once in a lifetime, because damn I have not
heard that in a while. Have a great day, ninety
