Speaker 1 (00:00):
Were you at Disney Yeah, no, seventh on the seventh
is that Did you go for a specific reason?
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (00:10):
We actually went down there for my niece's graduation, so
there we wanted to celebrate down there.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
I got you, But there was nothing specifically going on
the park that you were down there for.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Not really, But I was there for the closing of
Muppet three Vision.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
There you go?
Speaker 5 (00:26):
What is it?
Speaker 6 (00:27):
There?
Speaker 7 (00:27):
You go? Now?
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Did you work that in or did it just like
was it just happened stance that it was going on?
Speaker 8 (00:35):
Kind of both.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
I knew it was going to happen and we just
happened to be in the park that night.
Speaker 7 (00:41):
Were you did you go by?
Speaker 3 (00:43):
So?
Speaker 1 (00:44):
I don't know where I don't know where Muppet Vision
three D is. Apparently it's very go ahead.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Oh it's kind of buried in the back for Sandwich
in between Star Wars.
Speaker 8 (00:57):
Oh, so it's at Hollywood Studios.
Speaker 7 (00:58):
Is that not where? That's not where we were?
Speaker 8 (01:00):
Now we went to the mass of Kingdom Magic Kingdom, right.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Were there a lot of Were there a lot of
sad people there?
Speaker 8 (01:08):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Yeah, kind of were they.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
All singing something kind of in unison?
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Yes, at the very end of the last showing everybody's
saying Rainbow Connection.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
Yes, oh boyd, I bet everybody crime.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
I was not one of them, but yeah, there were.
There was a few people crying.
Speaker 7 (01:32):
So listen.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
I've never heard of Rainbow Vision three D. I didn't know,
I'm sorry, Muppet Vision, Muppet Vision three D. I didn't
know that there was anything Muppet related there. I guess
it is a It was one of the last This
is my reading of it, that it was one of
the last things that Jim Henson worked on. Yeah, right,
(01:59):
And so at some point they announced that this thing
was going to close and that I think it's don't.
Speaker 7 (02:04):
Quote me on this.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
I think it's a monster's ink something or other is
going in and they're like.
Speaker 7 (02:09):
Listen, this this thing is just old.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
But I guess for the since the beginning of the
year and leading up to last weekend, there have been
a lot of people who have been heading to Disney,
specifically to kind of say goodbye and farewell to whatever
this Muppet Vision thing is.
Speaker 8 (02:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Yeah, I'm glad that you were able to witness the
Rainbow Connection because it sounds like it was a real downer.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
I mean it was cool. I mean it was kind
of a neat experience, something you don't get to do
every day.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
But you know, can I ask this, is it like
like the only old like old timey thing that we
went in in our one day in Disney was what
was the name of that room the Tiki Room or
something like that. Is this the Muppet version of the
Tiki Room?
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Uh?
Speaker 9 (03:02):
Not really.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
It's more of a three D show, like a movie
theater type thing. And I mean it was kind of
dated if you ask me, But.
Speaker 7 (03:10):
Have you been to the team?
Speaker 8 (03:13):
Uh?
Speaker 9 (03:14):
Yeah, that's dated the Yeah it is.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
But they they treated as like I can imagine having
been in the Tiki Room, which was I mean it
was fine, you know what it was, you know what.
Speaker 7 (03:24):
It was good for beating the heat. It was nice
the whip. But there are people there.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
They said, there are people like if that gets shut down,
like there are a lot of people where that's like
their thing. Did the Muppet vision have the same draw
to it that the Tiki Room does?
Speaker 3 (03:43):
I guess, Like I said, it was good to get
out of the heat, getting acy, you know, sitt in
the dark, taking nap for me. I know, people love
the ride or whatever the show, but.
Speaker 7 (04:02):
Hello, yeah, I gotcha. I gotcha.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Oh I'm sorry, Sorry, my phone getting on in and out.
You know, I know there's a lot of dog Hard
you know, Muppets fans, and you know that was Jim
Henson's last product that he put out before his passing.
So I mean, I get the nostalgia for it, right.
I think it was there for a while, like I think.
I don't know if it was an opening an attraction,
(04:25):
but it had been there since like nineteen ninety one,
so a lot of people grew up with it, so
I can get the sadness of it.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
I gotcha, all right, dude, Hey listen, I appreciated, thank you.
Nineteen ninety was the year that's when it opened, which
doesn't seem that old tikroom goes back, especially in Disney.
Speaker 8 (04:43):
Is that like sixties? Oh yeah, okay, but yeah, and
everyone knows the Tiki Roum. I don't think everyone knows
this is a part of Hollywood Studio.
Speaker 7 (04:53):
Never heard of it?
Speaker 8 (04:54):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
But I also don't know all before you went there. No,
really no, I'd never heard of it. Oh until we
went in. Until Chad's song.
Speaker 8 (05:04):
You guys didn't know that song, No, Kristin, you not oh.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
When Chad was like, we're going to the Tiki room,
I thought on it.
Speaker 7 (05:11):
I'm being completely honest.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
The only tiki room, thank you, Kristin that I know
is Todd Thrasher's play. Okay, I thought we were going
to get cocktails. No, I'm being serious. I was like, Oh,
Disney's got like a tiki bar.
Speaker 7 (05:25):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
It was like a show dated birds flapping up and down.
Speaker 8 (05:31):
It's so good.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
I'd never so I had never heard of it, never
seen it, didn't know the song nothing.
Speaker 8 (05:37):
That was my fourth or fifth time going. And it's great.
You just have to accept it for when it was installed.
And yeah, they've made changes over the years. But he
made it seem like on the phone, they're not able
to just put in the monster Zinc thing. They're going
to have to do some other renovations.
Speaker 7 (05:56):
Oh yeah, well, I mean the room is forever old,
so yeah, they have to do some rendom. And I guess.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Disney announced in January that they were going to close
the Muppets Vision thing and that it would be in June,
and people were like, they talked to somebody, some dude
from Buffalo, thirty nine year old from Buffalo said, I
was all cried out.
Speaker 7 (06:20):
He wore a shirt that said save Muppet visions.
Speaker 8 (06:24):
That'll work. Now, what's the Muppet representation? Moving forward?
Speaker 1 (06:28):
At the park, Eric Klingersmith showed up early on the
last day to be amongst the first to experience the film.
Speaker 7 (06:35):
I guess it's like a movie in there.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
He watched it multiple times and waited in line forty
minutes just to purchase pressed penny souvenirs. He was back
later when the crowd that evening sang Rainbow Connection outside
the entrance. Klingersmith said it was too much and he
had to call it a day.
Speaker 8 (06:56):
So did they only sing it once? Because I have video?
Is this this wasn't performed multiple times?
Speaker 7 (07:02):
I think this was at the close?
Speaker 5 (07:03):
Oh my god, are people sobbing?
Speaker 7 (07:06):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (07:06):
I'm gonna play it her.
Speaker 10 (07:07):
You're ready.
Speaker 7 (07:33):
The losers?
Speaker 6 (07:38):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (07:43):
You can we get the hint and you can hear
behind them life goes on like other people are like
wheeling buy with their kids.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
And the strollers.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
Why exact guy crying that's going on over there?
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Because I came all the way from Buffalo and them
all cried out.
Speaker 8 (07:58):
Quite a few people did us through as Diane's alluding to,
and not even stopped to wonder what was going on.
Wouldn't you be like, why are these people? Because they're
all swaying too as they sing the song, a gentle sway.
Speaker 7 (08:13):
Like it's a hymn.
Speaker 8 (08:14):
But I will say there are My.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Fear would be while this video is going on, I'm
walking through and somebody's like, I didn't know Elliott was
so into Rainbow Connection.
Speaker 8 (08:24):
They're for the way the audio sounded, there are more
people there then, I feel like you would get a
sense hearing.
Speaker 7 (08:33):
That, Oh it's pack.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
That sounded like just a couple because it was yeah,
because that was like recording a distance away.
Speaker 7 (08:39):
Right, Well, it's my phone. I'm all the way in
the back.
Speaker 8 (08:41):
They're in the heart of it.
Speaker 7 (08:43):
Is it just no, they're they're towards the bat. Look
how many people are in front of them?
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Okay, well I want and everybody's facing that the entrance
to the theater.
Speaker 8 (08:52):
Maybe there's somebody who was embedded more in the crowd.
Speaker 7 (08:55):
Fingers crossed. Chad was Chad there? He was Chad there?
Speaker 8 (09:02):
He was there.
Speaker 7 (09:02):
He called us that week Yeah, yes, he was he
there that weekend. Why would he did he go?
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Did he go for the Muppet closing? And can you
scan that video in the city? Hi Elliott in the morning.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Hey Elliott, this is a stash.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Hey.
Speaker 7 (09:22):
How you doing, sir?
Speaker 9 (09:24):
Pretty good.
Speaker 11 (09:24):
We've talked a couple of times about Disney.
Speaker 9 (09:26):
I'm a former imagineer.
Speaker 7 (09:28):
Oh oh yeah, very good, very good.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Were you did you go last weekend for the closing
of Muppet Vision?
Speaker 11 (09:35):
No, but I mean it's a really nostalgic gride and
it's a great place to cool off on a hot
summer day.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
I do get the I do get that from just
having been at the Tiki barbroom for sure, But.
Speaker 7 (09:47):
The I had no idea.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Listen, I didn't even know they I've never even heard
that there's a Muppet thing there. I definitely didn't hear
that they were closing it. But it seems like they're
the Muppet Vision plays had a lot of fans.
Speaker 11 (10:00):
Oh, I certainly did. And I mean it's a it's
a really cool kind of ahead of its time show.
It's Muppet Vision four D, so it has the the
bubbles that come down, it has the scent. I mean,
it is really immersive. But there is going to be
a new Muppet attraction at MGM or Hollywood Studios.
Speaker 7 (10:21):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
Didn't they say, well, this the the Muppet vision.
Speaker 7 (10:25):
Is going to turn into a Monsters Inc.
Speaker 9 (10:27):
Thing?
Speaker 1 (10:28):
But didn't they say that the that the the the
Muppets thing is kind of being.
Speaker 7 (10:33):
Like like it goes.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Like cleaning supplies, bathroom. Then like wherever they're putting the Muppets.
Speaker 11 (10:41):
No Muppets is going to get moved over to rock
and roller coaster. The band Electric Mayhem is going to
replace Aerosmith. That's so yeah, that'll be pretty fun.
Speaker 8 (10:54):
That'll be really cool.
Speaker 7 (10:56):
I don't want to why am I replacing Aerosmith? I
can understand why the wow the top five years?
Speaker 9 (11:02):
Okay, all right.
Speaker 7 (11:05):
All right, very good, very good, Thank you sir, thank you.
Speaker 8 (11:08):
So wait which day I know we were trying to
figure out when Chad was there. We know he was
there on the fifth because he was right outside the
Polynesian But which day did it actually close? Like when
was that video from where they were singing?
Speaker 7 (11:20):
I was all cried out by the way.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Here is I got a picture of Eric Klingersmith. He
arrived early on closing day. There he is crying. Here's
Alicia stella. She wore a black dress to mark her mood. Diane,
was it the eighth I think so. So it was
(11:46):
on Sunday, I think so. I think it like at
the end of the weekend. Because here's also now this
goes back to remember I told you that in January
is when they had made the announcement, and that's when
Maliah Schnefki organized prom theme event in February and then
made one more visit on the final week.
Speaker 8 (12:07):
Because I see here another video at the ragtime piano.
Speaker 7 (12:12):
Oh yeah, certainly that's Diane's fabe, which.
Speaker 8 (12:15):
Everyone knows is in Main Street, USA at refreshment corner.
The artist there did a little tribute to for the
fans that were in morning.
Speaker 5 (12:39):
Great, now everybody's crying again.
Speaker 7 (12:41):
Do you have video of Diane walking by in the
background yelling? Life goes on?
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Diane Scott comes to you and says, hey, I got
us matching shirts.
Speaker 7 (12:53):
It's all the Muppets. We need to go down there.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
I never told you this, but when I was younger,
I used to love going to mupp A Vision and
it's closing.
Speaker 7 (13:02):
We must go for the weekend.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
Why am I just learning.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
This out her day exactly take your girlfriend.
Speaker 7 (13:11):
Let me grab line five. Hi, Elliot in the morning.
Speaker 6 (13:15):
Elliott, Yes, sir, I saw this story the other day.
Disney did a pretty cool thing is they brought Jim
Henson's daughter in to be the last one in line
to officially close it.
Speaker 9 (13:28):
And when she came out, the whole place goes crazy
and she made a little speeches.
Speaker 6 (13:32):
Actually pretty cool and a little emotional, but not enough
to cry like all those other losers with that dumb song.
Speaker 9 (13:40):
I fell back for the woman.
Speaker 6 (13:41):
Because her dad dead, not because big Bird is being
put in a cage.
Speaker 7 (13:48):
All right, very good, very good, thank you.
Speaker 8 (13:50):
Yes, yes, it was the last guest to enter Muppet
Vision three d n tribute.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
No, it's very nice. No, no, it's very nice. It's
very that you would do that for Henson's daughter.
Speaker 8 (14:03):
Is she even a public person? I don't. I'm not
familiar with Heather Henson at all. I'm not either, So
was it a big deal that she just got out
of the house.
Speaker 7 (14:13):
Okay, I don't think she's a shut in.
Speaker 8 (14:15):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (14:16):
No, But maybe she's just not. Maybe she's got her
own thing going on. I don't know.
Speaker 8 (14:24):
And so when does the mont Ferrow Smith Ride get revamped.
Speaker 7 (14:31):
Oh, I don't know that. I don't I don't have
any of the dates.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
I got to be honest, I didn't know any of
these dates until I saw that collection.
Speaker 8 (14:39):
Oh it looks like there was some anger too, not
just sadness. Shame on you, Disney, And it's what you said, Elliott.
This is the last thing a deceased legend worked on. Yes,
and that's why the shame bell's being wrong on Oh,
because they don't want to take it down.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
They don't want to take it down because this marks
the This is the end of Jim Henson's work.
Speaker 8 (15:05):
I feel like his okay, but Cannon goes on.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Okay, But a lot of people didn't even know this
place existed. Like you're telling me that this isn't as
famous as the Tiki Room, and most people don't even
know that exists.
Speaker 7 (15:18):
No stop, Diane had no idea. You know how many
I could sing Rainbow Connection? Not well? I saw the
Tiki Room and I can't tell you the song.
Speaker 12 (15:32):
It's got like three words T T rooms, T T room, closer,
room t d e g boom.
Speaker 7 (15:45):
I don't know the words.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
What is he trying to sing?
Speaker 7 (16:03):
And the Flowers Groom.
Speaker 8 (16:07):
I just remember thinking, thank God, there's a c It's
on every Disney record that's ever been put out. If
you had a compilation of songs famous by Disneyland and
Disney World, you knew that song. I knew that song
before I ever visited, So it was very special. And
as Chad explained to us, I remember Walt wanted it
(16:29):
to be like a dinner theater.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Oh that's right, that's right, that's right, like Toby's am
I going to line one certainly?
Speaker 7 (16:40):
Hi Elliott in the morning.
Speaker 9 (16:43):
Hey Elliott, I'm so depressive. I'm listening to you guys.
You guys are so heartless about this. I'm a huge
Muppet nerd. I'm a nerd in general. I'm the guy
who called up with the Peasants Spencers on the wall.
Speaker 7 (16:55):
Yeah yeah, so, but I.
Speaker 9 (16:57):
I've been reading about this. I took my kids a
couple of years ago when we went to Disney, and
it's the coolest thing, and it's it's like Tyler said,
it's the last and that Jim Henson's directly did. And
the whole lobby was like full of Easter eggs to
look for while you're waiting to get into the ride,
Like there was this big rope net up in the
ceiling that was full of cubes of gelatin and it
was supposed to be a net full of jello, like a.
Speaker 7 (17:21):
Get funny. I get that's funny. That's pretty good.
Speaker 9 (17:25):
But it was so cool. You would go in and
there movie posters like that parodied all these different movies
with muppets in them, and you would go into the
theater and there were you know, Statler and Waldorf puppets
were really there, and the Sweetams had come running out
at one point like a guy in the full suit
to interact with the movie. And it was just it
was really cool. It's just kind of you know, it
wasn't there for thirty plus years, you know, for no reason.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Solutely listen. I thought it was very cool. That's why
I brought it up. Diane is the one who's yelling like, oh.
Speaker 9 (17:54):
Is killing me over there.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
The Muppets are like a difining personality trade in mind,
and she just like my in my.
Speaker 8 (18:00):
Existence, Diane, if you were on a date and your
man said that the Muppets were a defining personality trait
for him, would that concern you? Moving forward? For you
(18:21):
as a couple.
Speaker 7 (18:22):
Yes, it would, even if they just said the muppets.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Now if I said you went back to his place
and his wall was covered in pez dispenser dispensers, would
that stop a snarl?
Speaker 5 (18:34):
At least that's a connection collection.
Speaker 7 (18:36):
I mean, oh, so you're better with that than with
just liking the mud.
Speaker 5 (18:39):
It does take up a lot of room.
Speaker 7 (18:40):
People like the Muppets. It would be so hard, made.
Speaker 8 (18:43):
It to desert.
Speaker 9 (18:46):
Gotten appetizer would be by itself on my table.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
All right, brother, Hey, I'm sorry that they I'm sorry
they shut down your thing.
Speaker 9 (18:56):
It's okay. I'll beat it for the for the roller
coaster one.
