Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, are you a big Pokemon nerd?

Speaker 2 (00:02):
I play every Sunday at Kurrio in uh Springfield.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Right right right the TCG do you play? Do you
play Pokemon Go?

Speaker 2 (00:13):
On?

Speaker 3 (00:14):
And off?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
It became like kind of like annoying because like there's
so many people that's getting back into it again.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Right, So it's like, yeah.

Speaker 4 (00:24):
Do you have you ever gone to wait, hold on,
have you ever gone to Pokemon Go Fest?

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Go Fest once in New York? How was it hectic?

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Imagine imagine a bunch of sweaty nerds running around trying
to catch what you call it the last time gizzard.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Yeah, so, so you know what I read yesterday. So
there's a there's a company, and sir, you may know
the name better than I do. There's a company by
the name of scope Ly s coop e l Y

(01:05):
scope Ly. They just bought Pokemon Go.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Oh yeah, no, they were talking about so Pokemon had
been going through like essentially like an overhaul because next
year is the thirtieth anniversary running up, right, So they
were talking about it a lot recently in the community.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
Anyway, they just bought Pokemon Go for three point five
billion dollars billion dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
So knock all you want.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
Can I tell you the sentence that stuck out to me?
I mean that number stuck out to me. But I
can listen. I've never been into Pokemon. My kids were
never into Pokemon. It's it's very nerdy to me. And
I understand that there are a million people into it. Listen,
not everybody loves hockey, That's okay. More people attended Pokemon
Go Fest last year than Coachella, Lollapalooza, glaston Berry Electric

(02:08):
Daisy Carnival, and Tomorrowland all combined.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
That's yeah, I can believe that. Crazy crazy.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
So there's so there's a competitive side to Pokemon Go
as well, where you battle each other, Like do you
know about player one in Kensington?

Speaker 1 (02:28):
No?

Speaker 2 (02:29):
All right, So Pokemon Go has like a battling feature
and you can like build out like your your active
roster of Pokemon, essentially how you're good with hockey.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
There are people that.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Are like phenomenal with their Pokemon battles. So couple that
with like events around all of America and internationally, you're
getting a ton of people. So Atlanta's regional is coming
up for it a TCG, Pokemon VGC and Pokemon Go
so you you have like it's not athletic, that's not

(03:01):
the right word for us. You have like suit you
have like super nerds that have like stuck out with
battle teams. So I can see them being more involved
than anybody else in like cotella or anything else. You're
you're talking about an international, international.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Thing that people fly to. So who's the Who's the
dude in Kensington?

Speaker 2 (03:23):
No, that's a card shop called Player one Services and
they hold Pokemon goal like play events until people go
there and like in droves. And that's just one shop
in Kensington. You know there's a bunch around, uh even
like in uh Gaissberg and stuff.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
So by the way, I can see you know what,
you know what I love and not Pokemon, but you
know what I love. No, No, I'm being serious. I
can hear the I can hear the passion for it
in your voice. You're so excited.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Oh my god, dude.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
So I'm gonna give you a quick backstory. It's really fast.
My mom made me Haye Pokemon because like I had
like that really expensive Charis Aard and she was like,
you know what, you and your cousins are going to
get in a mixed up and put your name on
the back of it. I was like, I could have
retired you, mom, but yeah, no, dude. Pokemon after after COVID,

(04:15):
Pokemon blew up like insanely, and Pokemon Go has his
own little nerddom its own little fan Like there's a
guy at Gofest, New York that when Pokemon Sleep came out,
he was paying people like a buttload of money for
this rare snorelax a digital thing. He was dropping a
lot of money on this like digital like NFT.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
If you will agree or disagree, the best Pokemon game
ever is Pokemon Gold and Silver.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
I would disagree.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
I'd say Heart Gold Soul Silver to remake of it,
best game, best game?

Speaker 3 (04:56):
No, sorry, these are the video games you're talking about.

Speaker 5 (04:59):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm I just I got a list
here that I'm going through.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
I can tell you you're wrong. Oh, Pokemon Sun and Moon,
Pokemon Red and Blue. I don't know what any of
these are. Pokemon go out and play. Yeah, I don't know.
I have no scarlet and violent.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
I have no idea the hey, one other thing, I
like you. One other thing are you? And I'm not
asking this to make fun. So I don't want you
to think that I'm trying to set you.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Up for something. Uh huh are you married?

Speaker 3 (05:32):
I have a girlfriend?

Speaker 4 (05:34):
Okay, cool, if you were have Like how long? How
long have you and she been together?

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Five years?

Speaker 4 (05:41):
Are we getting close to the part where there could
be a pokey prosal.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
So we agreed that we're better together.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Not like any marriage or anything.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Keep the government out of it. But no, we've been
We've been cool for Wow, it's been through. Defend man,
I'm looking back at the time.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Now. Can you explain to Diane what a pokey posel is? Please?

Speaker 2 (06:07):
So a lot of people they're like the TCG people
will make like the Pokemon card and it will be
like instead of a ring, it's a poke ball with
a card of like I basically choose you, which is
a Pokemon like theme thing. But it's like really adorable
and it's really cute, and it's basically the sprites from Pokemon.

(06:27):
It's like a proposal, but not with like a red
wedding ring.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
It's like a TCG card. Got it? No ring?

Speaker 2 (06:34):
No, no, there's no rings later, but like a cute
theme thing.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
I see.

Speaker 6 (06:40):
Yeah, she set.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
All right, very good, very good. He thank you, sir.
I love your passion for it, I really do.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
I love it. I love it. What is what is?

Speaker 4 (06:57):
I will say this so apparently Pokey posles and you
always forget.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
I always forget.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
Pokemon is so freaking massive, so massive, and I mock
it and that's okay.

Speaker 6 (07:08):
The just in that call, you mentioned everything from the
trading card game to the video games to the Pokemon
go It.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
Sold for three point five billion dollars billion.

Speaker 6 (07:21):
Oh man, you could get lost in these stories about
poke pro prot pokey posals, not proposals, Pokey posts. A
Pokey posal like a promposal, but Pokemon.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
Right, except it's for your wedding and there's no ring, Andy.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
No, not at all.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
Did you understand like I didn't understand like he he
was so confident the way he said it, where like, oh,
it's a THC and whatever? What is?

Speaker 1 (07:49):
What is TC?

Speaker 3 (07:50):
I don't even trading card game?

Speaker 4 (07:51):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (07:51):
I was going to ask him what is a TGC?

Speaker 4 (07:54):
But I was like, I don't want to look stupid,
Like honestly, he would look at me and go, you're
a freeho moron.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Well that's all right. He doesn't know what a power
play is or a penalty kill loser.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
I'm pretty sure he does.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
Well. I'd be able to find somebody in all of
the pokey dorks who has had a pokey posele.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
I guarantee it if it's that well known.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
I had never heard of it, and apparently well he
even said in the community he knew what it was.
It does seem like I slice open the bottom of
the pack. I read it, slice open the bottom of
the pack with surgical precision, and then I had to.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Link all the cards with a what what did?

Speaker 4 (08:36):
He says, Like a regular theme in there, I choose
you or whatever, and I put.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
In my I Choose You cardon and I slind it
back in and then she opens up the box. There's
some box that everybody wants to get.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
For the for the see a lot of these.

Speaker 6 (08:52):
Do you have poke balls that are opening up to
eventually reveal Diane a ring?

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Oh oh, it says.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
An elite trainer box is a special collector's box containing
a variety of cards, packs, and accessories designed for fans
looking to enhance their collection. These boxes, especially those that
feature rare or exclusive content, are highly coveted among collectors
and poke Ploosa, Elliott, you idiot, Pokey Posles.

Speaker 6 (09:23):
I see here all these custom cards that people have made.
It says the proposal. If you say yes, then you
will gain a player two forever.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
That's funny. I don't even get it, but that's funny.
Hi Ellie in the morning. Hello, Yeah, Hi, who's this
Devin from David berrig Are you a big Pokemon guy?

Speaker 7 (09:53):
Pokemont go every day?

Speaker 8 (09:55):
But I was just gonna say, man, if you months
or twice a month, they do community days where it's
like one type of Pokemon all day and it's meant
to get everybody outside. But if you ever go to
Rio and Gaithersburg on one of those sundays, it is insane.
Is walking down staring at their phones.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
It's nuts.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Yeah, no, I get it. Remember we had one when
when Pokemon Go was big.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
We had one in the studio and all the all
the nerds would stand outside trying to get in here.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
And I gotta take a picture of Gizzard. Hey are
you crazy?

Speaker 9 (10:27):
Crazy?

Speaker 8 (10:27):
How many old people.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Play when you are Do you have a do you
have a girlfriend?

Speaker 6 (10:33):
I did?

Speaker 1 (10:36):
But then Pokemon Go came out? No, like what like
you guys broke up?

Speaker 6 (10:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (10:41):
She cheated on me, so I left her.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Bitch. Oh I hope it wasn't for a magic the
gathering nerd.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
Oh god.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
Hey, let me ask you this though, if you were
gonna get married, if you would have married that girl,
would you have done a pokey pozle.

Speaker 8 (10:54):
Absolutely not.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
So even somebody.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
Who plays pokemng go every day thinks it's too nerdy.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
I'm a closet nerd. Not like that. Dude, Wear it proud,
wear it proud.

Speaker 8 (11:11):
I mean, I'm not. I see Pokemon stickers on cars
and stuff.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
I'm not.

Speaker 8 (11:14):
I'm not with all that. All right, all right, guilty
pleasure game.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
No, that's fine, that's fine. Good for you. Listen, everybody's
got something and that's great. That's great. It may not
be my thing, but it's great.

Speaker 6 (11:26):
Speaking of specialized businesses, there are companies that will help
you with your pokey posles. And they do the custom cards,
and they do the trainer boxes that are have the
cutout for the ring. They provide the poke balls they
open up.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Are you serious? Yes, Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
You see that one with the ring in the middle. Yep.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Now again it's hard for me to say that's cool,
but that's unique.

Speaker 6 (11:54):
It'd be a great surprise. There's another person, same thing.
If you say yes, then you will gain a player
two forever that has two hundred hit points.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Another one was one fifty.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Well they're not as good.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
A lot of people.

Speaker 6 (12:13):
I'm telling you this is this is is they're rare
like the Pokemon that was in our studio?

Speaker 4 (12:19):
Is there is there a like you don't you don't
like dress up or anything for it?

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Right?

Speaker 3 (12:27):
For the posle? Like are they furries too?

Speaker 1 (12:30):
No? No, no, they all wouldn't be. No, they all
wouldn't be.

Speaker 6 (12:34):
My kids played for a little bit. They didn't also
do cosplay.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
I Pika chew and Pika you could be my wife?
Where am I going? Line one? Hi Elliott in the morning?

Speaker 4 (12:49):
Hello?

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Yeah, Hi? Who's this?

Speaker 4 (12:52):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (12:52):
This is Alan from Fairfax.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
You a big Pokemon nerd?

Speaker 6 (12:57):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Absolutely, I've been playing it since.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
The game Boy. You know, Red and Green, So I've
been playing for a long time.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Yeah, good for you, Good for you? Hey are you?
Are you? Are you hip to poke posles?

Speaker 8 (13:10):
You know, I've heard of them, I've never met someone
who's done one.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
I've seen videos of them, but not really extly familiar
with them.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
Are there this this is going to be a stupid question.
What are other what are other card games like Magic
the Gathering?

Speaker 1 (13:26):
Are there magic posles?

Speaker 7 (13:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (13:29):
There would be right, I'm sure there are because people.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
They really really get into these like games and like
believe the.

Speaker 6 (13:37):
Characters are like their personality and like not in a
bad way.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
By any means, but you know, they really love.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
The art, the story.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
There's like story to these games too.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
You know.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Yu gi Oh is another one.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
I don't think it's as popular, but that was the
one that's been.

Speaker 7 (13:52):
Around for a long time.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
I feel like I've heard of you gi Oh before.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
I've never played it, but I feel like I feel
like I've heard of it before.

Speaker 8 (14:00):
I mean, it's just another card game.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
You know.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
People like to duel each other, they like to battle
each other, whatever you call it.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
And yeah, why would this be any different? You're absolutely right,
Thank you, sir, thank you. Why would this be any
different than having a caps themed wedding?

Speaker 6 (14:19):
Well, you're now you're talking about the aesthetic for the
actual ceremony.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
Yeah no, well yeah, we're getting.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
If this is how what if you met this way?
This is what brought you together?

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Why not you met playing Pokemon Go.

Speaker 6 (14:30):
No mes via playing MTG and my Sorcery card allows
Lindsay to propose to Eric. If the proposal is accepted,
both players win, mix the cards and play both libraries
and both graveyards as a shared deck.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
By the way, Pokemon nerds cool way cooler, way cooler.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
What is that ring?

Speaker 6 (14:54):
That's just a ring pop oh oh, but that was
another custom card made for the the Gathering Proposal ring
of the.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
Hi Elliott the Morning.

Speaker 7 (15:13):
Hey, so there's a man in Taiwan who drives around
with a bike rigged with sixty four cell phones playing
Pokemon Go all day.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Are you serious?

Speaker 7 (15:25):
I sent it to your instagram.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Oh my god.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
And all he does is drive around on a bike
playing Pokemon Go.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
I here's a.

Speaker 7 (15:35):
Rig with sixty cell phones sat on top of each other.
He's a sponsorship with a cell phone company.

Speaker 4 (15:43):
All right, very good, thank you, Oh my god, Diane.
It looks like, honestly, it looks like somebody was like,
if I could take my bike and make a large peacock,
and the peacock's.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Tail is all cell phone.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
We're filming like an okay Go music video.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Yes, thank you, Oh my god. Pokemongo grandpa.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
He is older.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
Oh my god, you.

Speaker 6 (16:13):
Gotta have good balance because the cell phones aren't evenly distributed.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Yeah, you also gotta have no friends.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Maybe his friends have all died the older because of
their bikes.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Dianne, I didn't see no car bang. Oh wait, there's
gizzard damn Line five. Hi, Elliott the morning.

Speaker 7 (16:36):
Hey this is me.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Yeah, Hi, who's this? Hey this is Kelty, Yes, Kelsey.
What can I do for you?

Speaker 9 (16:43):
I just thought you might want the perspective of a
married woman who plays pokemongo.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Oh sweet, so you're you're you play POKEMONO?

Speaker 8 (16:52):
I do?

Speaker 9 (16:52):
I have since twenty sixteen when it started cool.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Hey the and now and you're married?

Speaker 9 (16:59):
I am married?

Speaker 4 (17:00):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Did you have a poke posle?

Speaker 9 (17:03):
Absolutely not. We actually didn't even have a regular proposal,
but you kind of cracked the nail, like hit the
nail on the head when you were talking about, you know,
something with you know, a Nationals game or something like that.
There are plenty of proposals like as long as it
brought you together. I think that'd be a great idea.
In my case, my husband played Pokemon Go because I
liked it, so we didn't you know it wasn't his thing,

(17:26):
and I still play and he doesn't.

Speaker 7 (17:28):
But I think if it's if it's something.

Speaker 9 (17:31):
That brought you together or it's something you do together,
I think it's a great idea.

Speaker 4 (17:34):
Yeah, no, listen, Like like I said, not everybody's going
to be in the hockey. So if you got your thing,
you have your thing, right, that's I think that's great exactly.
But you said your husband started, so you started dating.
When you were dating your husband, he didn't play, but
because of you, he started playing.

Speaker 9 (17:51):
Yeah, and so, and I had played, you know, back
when I was a kid, I had a game Boy
and I started playing with Pokemon, you know, red and
Yellow on the original. I played, you know, Pokemon Snap
on N sixty four. You know, I've kind of grown
up with Pokemon, and so when Pokemon Go happened, and
it was an excuse to get out and do things

(18:14):
and kind of socialize, but also, uh gives you something
specific to focus on, it just resonated with me and
I still play it every day.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
You know what. Good for you? Good for you. I
appreciate it. Thank you, ma'am. Thank you. Tane. You and
Scott are dating. Scott's heavy in the Pokemon go, Yeah,
are you doing it with him now? I bet you would.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
I bet you would back in the day, like when
when you're when you're trying to court and trying to
like you know, get involved in there.

Speaker 9 (18:46):
Right now.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
For me, that's that's your thing.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
That's fine.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
What do you see the poke ball with the ring
and is that from a listener? Do you recognize that ring?

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Who?

Speaker 6 (19:00):
Thank you, Kristen. That is how al Toyto proposed to Selena.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
Diane.

Speaker 6 (19:10):
What maybe stop laughing me too?

Speaker 1 (19:18):
Did he really?

Speaker 3 (19:19):
He even inscribed on the ring.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
You get a plush, two players.

Speaker 6 (19:27):
Choose you, which is how ashe calls out his Pokemon.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
Elliott.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
I think it's great.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
I think it's going to tell al toido. Pay no
attention to Aaron M.

Speaker 6 (19:41):
Barlow, who said, if my fiance had just done a
pokey prosal, I would have pushed his ass into the river.
