Speaker 1 (00:00):
Do you remember. I think it was on Friday. It
was either Thursday or Friday.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
I was talking about the baker lady from Richmond who
was going to be on that Harry Potter Network show.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Her name is Marjorie. Marjorie. Hello, Hey, how are you.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Hi? I'm good?
Speaker 4 (00:20):
Are you?
Speaker 1 (00:21):
I am awesome? We were talking about you, uh late
last week? Didn't you? Didn't you premiere last night?
Speaker 4 (00:29):
I did?
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Did you watch it? No?
Speaker 2 (00:31):
You know what I didn't. I apologize, No, No, I'm
very sorry.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
I'm very.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
Well.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
I did a little bit. I did a little bit.
How can you can you say what happened last night? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Oh, I'm sorry to spoil it for you, but I did.
Now make it through to the next round. What I'm
sorry to disappoint. What? Oh?
Speaker 1 (00:54):
I gotta go, Marjorie, I gotta go.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
I know I was like today even want me in
the opid? So anymore?
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Wait? So what is well?
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Can you back up for a second, like when we
were when we were talking about you on either Thursday
or Friday of last week. The show it's the Harry
Potter Wizards of Baking. That the that show's got that
show's got a good following.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Yeah, I didn't realize it at the time of, you know,
signing up for it. I did watch last season, but
you know, you don't realize how many people actually follow
the show until you are on social media and they're
promoting the crap out of it. Like I didn't really
didn't really grasp that until now. Yeah, there's a lot
(01:40):
of pressure because there's probably millions of people that tune
into it. You'd like bakers, non bakers, just plain old
Harry Potter fans. So, yeah, I was really anxious leading
up to it.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Hey and so, and you ended up obviously you have
to go to England in order to do it, did
I really I'm trying to remember the story that I
read about you didn't you have to get like a
rush on your passport to be able to do it?
Speaker 3 (02:05):
I did. I didn't know that was public knowledge. But yeah,
when I when I was contacted for the show and
I auditioned, they were under the impression that I already
had my passport but I did not haven't updated it
since I was eighteen, so it was not renewed, so they.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
I guess they really wanted me on there.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
That's the impression that I got because they told me
that I had to rush order. They were like, we
need it in less than four weeks. Oh wow, Yeah
that was stressful, but I did end up getting it.
It worked out.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Hey, So when you when you say you auditioned for it,
you just went online and signed up and then you
had to go through the whole process.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
I actually got contacted for it. I've never actually auditions,
like applied for a show myself, like.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Salt one Out.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
I've been on a few before, so it's like once
you're on one show, it's kind of like you're you know,
you get a little well known from social media, and
recruiters tend to, you know, know your name and start
you out.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
And what is your your your story is you're you're
from New York, but you moved to Richmond, what about
almost ten years ago?
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Eight seven? Eight years ago?
Speaker 3 (03:19):
I actually been there for seven years.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Yeah, oh good for you. How'd you end up moving down.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Come for a past relationship? But that's either here nor there? Yeah,
but I did moving on? No, I did, you know,
move here with the intention of finding a job first
securing one so that you know, that was set And
I actually emailed this story called sweet fis randomly. I
(03:51):
was like, I don't, I know, you guys are probably
not hiring, but you know, I sent my portfolio over
and I was like, I just, you know, I just
I'm looking for a job. I'm not going to move
to Richmond before I secure one. And then they told
me that I was so good they wanted to secure
me first before anybody else snatched me up. So I
got a job at we Ticked Bakery, and I stuck
(04:14):
around for them, honestly because I love that job and
it's it's my favorite job. Never had, you know, my
favorite coworker's favorite boss, and that has really that's really
what has kept me around in Richmond, honestly.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Dude, good for you. That's awesome. True or falls you're
a great big nerd.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Oh yeah, I am a gigantic wrestling fan, and that's
how I started listening to you guys. True story. I
have a coworker that listens to you guys every morning,
and he told me about how much you talk about wrestling.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
It's Tyler. It's Tyler.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
It's Tyler.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Tyler talks about watches five nights.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Tyler. I appreciate you know. I'm the same. I've been
a fan since I was a little kid. And I
mean that reflects on me too. H point that I
started listening to you only because of wrestling, but I
mean I love you guys now for multiple other reasons.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
There we go, excellent, excellent Saturday Night.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Oh gosh, I mean I didn't watch it, but I
do know about Jade right, Yeah that happened. My god. Yeah,
me and Tyler needs to be friends and talk about
this off the air. But I can talk your ear off.
(05:43):
But yeah, I love wrestling so much that I started
doing like realistic wrestling cake cutting videos for social media.
He was like that trend where people were like cut
into realistic objects and I was like, nobody does wrestling
related objects. I started doing that.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
I'm watching your stuff right now on the market. Wait,
hold on, I see the macho man old school. I
see you're raw twenty five.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Yeah, are you looing Sean? Are you?
Speaker 5 (06:18):
Are you looing Sean in this one?
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Cosplay? Y?
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Oh my god, that's my big thing. And they actually
showed when I when they were introducing me on the
show last night, they actually showed like nothing but my
wrestling cosplay photos. I was so embarrassed. I was like,
I don't wear dorble clothing and I just walk around
in costumes all day. I was very surprised.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
You know what you should do? When is the next
When is the next big?
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Like? I know they had something every week, and I
don't mean like when's the next next t but like,
when's the next p l e.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
Well, you've had Survivor series out in San Diego? But
remember you have John seen as last night?
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Yeah, but when is that?
Speaker 5 (07:02):
December thirteenth?
Speaker 3 (07:03):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Really? Oh hey, Marjorie, you know what you should do?
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (07:08):
So after after John's I'm not giving you tickets to
John Cena's thing.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
I don't have those, No, but you should.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
I was going to lead into that.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
No, but would would you bring would you make us
a wrestling cake?
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Wait, you're asking me to make you a wrestling cake,
but you're not giving me tickets to the show.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Yeah, that's what you got. You got that exactly right.
Speaker 5 (07:34):
She's already done John's Oh my god, Oh my god, yeah,
I did already to celebrate his retirement.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
No.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
No, but what I was going to say is, yes,
you could bring the cake up and then we could
eat what Diane and I could eat, and you and
Tyler could talk all about the match for hours, not
on the air, but yeah, for hours and hours.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Yeah, I would love to do that. Actually was going
to offer anyway.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
No, that's very kind, all right. And by the way, okay,
so last two things. Last two things.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
I'm assuming that you and even though it didn't go
your way, you would still encourage everybody to watch the show,
like that's good.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Oh yeah, I mean I had a blast. Honestly, I
wouldn't you know, trade it for the world, and like,
I don't regret a thing by doing it. Anyway. It
was an amazing show, and I meet friends with every
single cast member on there. It's not like we were competitors. Honestly,
we became really close throughout the whole process and they're
super talented. So I want everyone to, you know, watch
(08:39):
my friends throughout the entire show too. Like there's amazing
show pieces that they made. So I would definitely watch
it regardless, but definitely my episode because there was it
was pretty funny and you could see all my wrestling
references that I made.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
And then what is the bakery in enrich In is
called sweet Fix, right.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
Sweet fis Yeah. I'm currently the lead cake decorator there
been there for seven years ever since I moved to Richmond.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Good deal.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
Yeah, I do want to warn everyone that we are
closing at the end of the month, so I will
be doing my own thing from there on out. But
we're closing down to the due to the new owners,
new project where she's she's founding the first ever Richmond Renfair.
So that's a whole nother story.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
All right, but how will oh so, but let me
ask you, if you're closing down at the end of
the month, how will people be able to find you?
Speaker 3 (09:41):
Oh? I'm on social media and I have a website
with all my cake portfolios and whatnot. So it's m
A R J d O T jpg on Instagram.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Already shared it, Yeah, favor, All right, are you good?
Oh yeah, let's get you up here with the cake. Marjorie.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
I'm sorry that that that your run wasn't that long.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
But I'm glad we got to meet each other. That's awesome.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
I'm I'm so glad we got to talk.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
But I mean, I hope I made Richmond proud anyway.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
You did, and you made a new best friend in Tyler,
so perfect.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
All right, Hold on one second, all right, hold on
one second for me.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Hold on, by the way, her cakes are beautiful.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Yeah, and I don't even like I'm not even into wrestling,
but the cakes are.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
And it's not all wrestling cakes, obviously. Cakes are beautiful,
like beautiful, talented.
Speaker 5 (10:38):
Absolutely, yes, there is a lot of wrestling.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Hi, Elliot in the morning.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Hi, my name is Caitlyn Taylor. I'm based in Booie, Maryland.
I was actually also on Wizards of Baking last night.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
Shut up, are you serious?
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Yeah? My friend just texted me and said, hey, Marge
just called in. You should call into.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Do you know Marge? She was just you guys know
each other.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
Yeah. Yeah, she competed with me. She was really cool.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Now, like I should ask, are you still on the show?
Speaker 4 (11:15):
Unfortunately I am not spoiler alert. I was the other
team that went home. Yeah, it was pretty disappointing.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
But yes, do you do wrestling?
Speaker 4 (11:31):
Especially I am not a professional wrestler.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
So wait, where do you Where do you work? You
said You're in Booie.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
Yeah, so I I have an online bakery. I specialize
in sculpted, hyperrealistic cakes. I was also on the show
Is It Cake? Season three on Netflix?
Speaker 5 (11:53):
Oh yeah, igize you. I recognize you because we watches
a cake.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Oh no, too awesome. Yeah, so I do all those
crazy hyper realistic cakes. So it was a little disappointing,
but everybody was so talented and I'm excited to see
what the rest of the show has in store because everybody,
I mean, the show was so stacked, right, And it's
the time limits are crazy, right, like you. You would
spend probably twelve to fourteen hours on some of the
(12:20):
stuff they asked us to make, and they only gave
us six Oh really, it's a crazy, crazy timeframe.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
The I wish I could say anything related to baking.
I know nothing.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
I know nothing about Banker. Now I would like to
I would like to give you the same option that
Marge is doing. Would you like to bring us a cake?
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Absolutely? Analergies I got you, guys, good?
Speaker 2 (12:47):
None, none, Well, eggs make well not like like like
eggs over easy make me nauseous.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
And hamburgers like you don't make a hamburger cake, do you?
Speaker 4 (12:56):
I mean, I can make a cake look like a
realistic hamburger.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
That's yeah, that would crush it. That would crush it.
Oh well, that's awesome, that's awesome, all right, very good. Well,
hold on one second, hold on.
Speaker 5 (13:08):
Wait, hold on, And this to prove to prove I
wasn't just pulling up your photo and claiming I knew you.
I in March twenty twenty four, when that season debuted,
I not DMed you, but I shared in my story
a photo of you of us watching it on a
TV with the waving emoji at the sculpted slice.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
Oh that's so cool. I probably reposted it to my story,
so that's awesome.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
Oh wow, Lite else, didn't you go? All right? Very good?
It's Tyler and the baker's.
Speaker 5 (13:39):
More than Elliott did for Marge last night.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
Oh no, I won't tell her.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
She knows all right, very good, very good, hold on
one second, hold on one second. Wow, look at that.
By the way, you know what else that tells me?
I don't know how many people are on the Harry
Potter thing. Is this area a hotbed of like awesome bakers?
Speaker 5 (14:02):
Well that season of visit cake Raina. I believe her
name was West from a Richmond bakery she was also on.
I don't remember the name of the shop, but I
do think her name was Reina and I also said
hi to her on Instagram.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Stories, so but all of them and Duff Baltimore right, Yeah,
we are a hotbed of bacon talented people and I'm
going to be a fat f of cake
