Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's Mike Jones.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
My guest today is WWE superstar and the United States Champion.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
La Night La. Good morning, Hey Man.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
How you doing.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
I'm doing great, champ. Hey, we got WrestleMania business to
get to. Want to talk about the United States Championship,
a little bit of baseball too. Thanks for taking a
few minutes this morning to chat with me.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Oh for sure, Man, Thanks for having.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Me absolutely Well. The first thing, La, WrestleMania. You know, really,
WrestleMania season at this point, it's all year long. It's
the goal of every superstar to be a part of it.
And I'm sure you think about that all the time.
That's why you put in the work at the gym
and in the ring, why you bust your hub to
be on that show and prove you're one of the
best in the business.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
And I mean, you know, traditionally people would say that
WrestleMania season, you know, starts around.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
The Royal Rubble and goes up through there.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
But then I think you kind of have a point
that the whole year round kind of feels like WrestleMania season.
It's like, once WrestleMania passes, it's like you're just gearing
up and starting to get ready for the next one
that's coming the next year round, So April's going to
come in the blink of an.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Eye, and that in mind. Man. The tickets are on
sale now and people need to go get them because
they're gonna go quick.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
We got two nights in Las Vegas, which is such
a I mean, think about that, the biggest party in
Vegas going on right there for two nights. It's WrestleMania,
and who knows what's gonna.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Happen that night.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
But the one thing I do know's gonna happen is
John Cena's last WrestleMania. But other than that, like you said, man,
there's so much to build to. There's so much build
and it's gonna be a big two nights.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Man, you just covered about half my questions right there.
La Yeah, Man, biggest party, biggest party town in the
world in Las Vegas. What better place than for WrestleMania
with all the glitz and glamour, and really, this is
gonna take it to a whole nother level. Like Philly
was great this year, every year it's awesome for WrestleMania.
I think Las Vegas is gonna give it something really special.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
I mean, look, you're talking about Allegiance Stadium right there
in the middle of Vegas.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
The place looks like they.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Have spaceship and it's such a great venue. And you're
talking about even just the the vibe of the city again,
big party city, big entertainment capital of the world, I
guess you could say. And with that in mind, you
bring all that energy, and then WrestleMania is bringing all
that energy and they're going to meet there. I think
you've got a big time equation for a good fun weekend.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
One hundred percent.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
If you can't have fun in Vegas, especially with WrestleMania,
you're clearly doing things wrong. Tickets right now for both
nights April nineteenth and twentieth Allegiance Stadium in Vegas, they're
on sale at Ticketmaster and LA.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
You and I are about the same age.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
I'm sure you remember watching WrestleMania nine back in the day, seeing.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
What they did. They went so over the top in Vegas.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Are you already thinking about some stuff that you might
want to do when you're there for WrestleMania coming up
in April?

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Man, I hadn't even thought about it. For me, I
like to keep things pretty based level in that regard,
I don't like to I kind of like to let
my talking, you know, what I'm doing in the ring
kind of be the flashy part and not go too
over the top with the pageantry. But who knows, man,
maybe I'll get a little nut smallman Vegas. Because, yeah,
like you said, a WrestleMania nine, I remember everybody coming

(03:09):
out in the togas and all this stuff because they
were at the Palace. So with that in mind, you
never know, We'll see what will happen between now and April.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Well, it's so much fun as a fan to go
to WrestleMania and la I can't even imagine what it
was like for you your first one this year in Philly,
getting to walk down that aisle, your music's blairing there.
I mean, how high were you flying during those couple
of minutes between walking out and then getting to the ring.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
You know, it didn't really hit me at that point
because at that point I'm just in that business mindset.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Man. It's time to get in there and do the
work and do the deal.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
And you know, I think once it was over and
I was able to get to the backmen, maybe it
was able to sing in a little bit more.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
But when that music's going. As soon as that thing hits.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
And those people jump out of the seats, man, that's
when I know, like, man, it's time to go out
there and do the business. Like you can get that
little second of elation when when the people jump up,
But other than that, it's just kind of like we're
focused now.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
But once once getting that moment out of.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
The way and kind of getting beyond it, then I
could look back at it and just be like, all right,
that's pretty.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Well and was it?

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Was it a big deal for you to have that
with aj Styles definitely one of the best in the business.
I mean that had to be even more special for
your first match at WrestleMania.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Yeah for sure.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
I mean, no matter what you're doing in Wrestlemaning, no
matter where you're on the card, it's the place you
want to be. But to be doing it, I guess
in that context, you're talking about a guy who's been
the many WrestleManias.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
He's done at all, he's been every champion you could be.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
Yeah, that's that's a hell of a spot to be in,
and so yeah, I got to relish that fact at
the same time, I got to look at the fact
that it's only the beginning for so much more to come. Again,
WrestleMania forty one coming up. Who knows what could happen?
Who knows what could happen at forty two, forty three,
forty four, forty five. We keep on going and we
keep on building this legacy.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
I love that well. WrestleMania for Las Vegas in April.
Tickets are on sale for both days now ticketmaster dot
com for April nineteenth and twentieth. Uh. Do you have
any of your favorite WrestleMania moments from over the years,
And it could be matches or you know, things outside
of the ring, anything that jumps to mind that really
you love.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
Of course, I mean I grew up watching this since
I was a little little kid, so I mean even
WrestleMania three, Hogan and Andre obviously, you know, for me
during when I was in high school, would have been
like WrestleMania fifteen. And I know a lot of people
always look at seventeen, but for me, it's like Resumta fifteen.
For me, information of like everything between, like you know,

(05:39):
the Rock Austin and Hogan, Sorry not Hogan The Rock,
The Rock, Austin and McMahon is what I'm mean today.
But between them all having that, that whole thing, but
then moving on to WRESTLEMANA eighteen with like Rock and Hogan,
like all of those three would have been like core
memories for me.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
I was actually there and to be there with with
d X, with Austin and The Rock having their first match,
one percent agreed that was really that was such a
big night and really set things off for so much
more to come. La you mentioned John Cena, this will
be his last wrestle Mania. Of course you got to
figure he's going to have one of the premier matches.

(06:19):
Who do you put in the ring with him? If
you were making that match, who's it going to be?

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Man?

Speaker 4 (06:23):
It might get me, But I really don't know home man,
because there's so many options here.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Yeah, right, but it's I don't know. I mean a
lot of people are leaning towards like a Randy Orton
for instance.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
I don't know, do you bring somebody else back who
had a major history with him?

Speaker 3 (06:43):
And I don't know, I don't know who you bring.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
It seems like Randy Orton might be the go to,
But for me if you want to throw something a
little monkey wrench into things or a little something out
of left field.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Maybe it is in La Night. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Maybe it's La and John for the US title one
more time there for John to have one more shot
at it.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
That could be who knows, and maybe a lot of
people would like to see him go out as champion.
But I got to tell you, I got to make
sure that doesn't happen. If that happens, if we even
get there, we were talking fantasy booking right now, but
if that was the case, yeah, I got to make
sure that. Sorry, John, you gotta lose your last one.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
How did it feel?

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Man?

Speaker 1 (07:22):
You're the US champ? Now?

Speaker 2 (07:23):
What did that mean? Getting your first title? I mean,
that's such a huge moment for your career. What did
that mean to you?

Speaker 4 (07:29):
Well, I mean, you know, I've done a lot of
things at this point, especially like just in the last
year and a half being in WWE and everything being
kind of taken off on a rocket ship, so to speak.
And it was a rocket ship that nobody intended to
take off. It was just kind of something that I
made happen and that people made happen with me. And
with that in mind, I really hadn't had anything to
really hang my hat on as far as like real achievements,

(07:49):
real kind of resume building accomplishments, and so for me,
it was kind of an opportunity of Okay, here's my
first thing to say, Hey, you know he's been a
United States champion. Okay, well let's build from there. But
for now, let's get this one going and let's make
this memorable rain. And to do it at SummerSlam and
at that big venue.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
You couldn't have picked a better place. And then, you
know a.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
Lot of people love to had people calling for me
to beat Logan Paul for the past year since we
had met at Money the year before, so in a
weird way, to make that happen in that way was
kind of poetic. And you know, at this point, it's
just taking that United States ship and keeping it and
elevating it as much as I possibly can.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Putting that mega spotlight from the megastar LA. Last thing,
we're talking about WrestleMania and big events, and I want
to ask you quickly about the World Series because the
Dodgers they've.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Been using some of your lines.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Man, they had everybody saying, La Dodgers, that's got to
be a thrill for you too.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
To have that happen.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
That is next level stuff for me, because it's like
it's one thing to have audience inside the business beyond
your stuff. So transcending the business and you start going
over into other mediums as far as different sports and
entertainment and whatnot, that's pretty crazy.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Well, La Night, thanks for taking time today. WrestleMania is
in Las Vegas at Allegiance Stadium April nineteenth and twentieth.
Tickets for both nights are on sale now at Ticketmaster.
If you're thinking about doing it, do it. You're going
to have the best time. There really is nothing like WrestleMania.
