Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact that we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
What Forrest Gump say? He said, laughs, lack a bunch
of chocolates and never know what you're going to get. Well, elections,
quite frankly, can be like that too, in the sense
is that these candidates make lots and lots of promises
and you never know what you're going to get. Gets
the same thing when it comes to State of the

(00:39):
Union addresses too. They make all these insane promises and
throw all these things out there to see what's going
to stick. That we're getting that from both sides more,
I'm gonna be honestly, you're getting more from Donald Trump
and you're getting from Kamala Harris. At this point in time,
Kamala Harris, I think that their campaign has completely shifted

(01:00):
to Orange Man, bad evil fascism. And we'll get into
that a little bit later, but today I want to
point out one of my favorites. Rand Paul had a
lengthy editorial in the Wall Street Journal, and he was
discussing Donald Trump's tariff strategy and basically tore into it.

(01:25):
Basically tore into it, and again many people might translate
it as always doesn't want Trump to win. No, you know,
Rand Paul's not wrong. And again full disclosure here, he'd
be my choice for president. He was one that I
backed in two thousand and sixteen. It was also and
still I'm a big fan of his father. These are

(01:45):
people that actually comprehend the United States Constitution, would like
to follow it, and either here nor there put that aside.
It was interesting, It was interesting. I wanted to see
the reaction to the editorial in the comments section, and again,
you know that's sometime you go into those comments, it's
like a black hole. Now I never post or anything

(02:06):
like that, but it was interesting as many people are
basically saying, you know, listen, Donald Trump when it comes
to tariffs. And I know I've discussed this here on
the program, but it's worth mentioning again, he's not talking
to you, he's not talking to the public. He's talking
to world leaders and he's basically putting them on notice.

(02:27):
That's what he's doing. More, all these tariffs that he's
talking about putting on these countries seasons are not going
to happen, just as much as many of his tax
policies are not going to happen. That's just the reality.
Same thing with the nonsense that Kamala Harris is throwing
out there again she wins. Most of the stuff is

(02:49):
not going to pass. It again, also depends upon how
Congress is stacked. Quite frankly, I will say this, as
far as ucolts are concerned, the chocolates that the Democrats promised,
the various different things, they have a much better track
record on delivering when they have Congress. For whatever reason

(03:11):
it may be. You take a look at the first
two years of the Obama presidency. He got a lot done.
A lot of the things that he promised he got done.
I agree with it. I think it's been horrible for
the country. Whether it be Obamacare, we can go on
and on and on, but he did and the same

(03:33):
thing for Biden's first two years or Obama's third term.
In air quotes there they managed to get a lot done. Republicans.
Republicans when they have power, when they have the House,
when they have the Senate, when they have the presidency.
They muck it up. Now Donald Trump, Donald Trump did

(03:58):
get did get his tax reform through. But what happened
to repeal and replace Obamacare? That didn't happen. Remember George W. Bush,
George remember remember what was? It was from Vermont? It's
coming right, Jim Jefferts, Remember Jim Jefferts. Hey switch parties

(04:18):
there again, became an independent and then caucus with the Democrats,
which screwed up. You know that as well. Again, Democrats
deliver on much more of the many more of the
promises that they put forward than Republicans do. It's going
to be interesting to see what happens with Congress as

(04:39):
far as the promises that are being made. Again, you
have to take it all with the grain of sault people,
you really do. They're there at say anything mode at
this point in time. And again, I could never do this.
I don't know how one could. Quite frankly, I don't
know how one could just go up there again, I'm there.

(05:00):
You know, everything is fair when it comes to politics.
Right Again, I couldn't do it anyway. Watchdog on Wallstreet
