Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Wow, Wow, that was some rally yesterday. Market's racing through
the roof. Now I'm not going to talk about the
markets and getting out of control and whatever it may be.
I want to talk about. I want to talk about
those steamed economists that put out many letters saying that
(00:37):
if Trump is elected, the economy is going into the toilet.
It's going to be a disaster. It's gonna be awful. Now,
let's go back in time. Let's go back to twenty sixteen,
and this is, this is and Trump is you know,
things are changing. People can't believe it. He's going to
(00:58):
beat Hillary Clinton, believe or not. I was sleep and
I was tired. My phone starts ringing, and you know,
all of a sudden, I wake up and Trump's won,
and I'm like, holy schnikes, I can't believe it. But
I get phone calls where people say, go come on,
markets are tanking. Trump was elected. I'm like market's going
to be fine, but fine. Want to have me on
the next day markets are going to be just fine,
(01:20):
And sure enough they were the same thing holds true
with this nonsense with these economists. I'm going to give
everybody bit of advice. When you get recommendations from these fools,
from these colleges and universities that actually think they know
what they're talking about, why don't you you know, you
know I should do is you should ask them? Could
(01:41):
you show me your portfolio? You don't have to show
me how much money you have or how much money
you have in your positions. If the economy is going
to tank, if things are so awful, what are you
doing with your money? Are you selling everything? Have you
gone to cash? Are you really that worried? Yeah, you know,
(02:03):
don't don't tell me what you think, tell me what
you're doing, and again that will be a completely different story.
You need to understand people. They're part of a club fraternity.
They have a job. They have a job to support
their masters in the various different government establishment positions, and
they're working at colleges and universities. They want grants, they
(02:26):
love their tenure. They've got pretty easy jobs, right, pretty
easy jobs. And every year you get these Nobel Prize, well,
Nobel Prize in economics, and I laugh. Have you come
up with anything interesting? You know, I can understand behavioral
science and stuff, some of the things that Connimented did,
(02:49):
and studying how people react to things in the marketplace.
That's useful, kind of like helping people to know thyself.
But what what are you guys figuring out that hasn't
already been figured out? Nothing? Nothing again, a big uh, big,
Show me the money. You're so smart. You know what's
(03:12):
gonna happen. You're signing on to a letter. You know
what's gonna happen with the economy. Okay, show me the money.
What are you doing with your money? Yeah, yeah, you're
not gonna you're not gonna say, are you? Watch dog
