Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Ah, right, here we go. We got another liberal attorney
general going after Amazon. I'm like a Dakoder ring for
things that are happening in this country. We kind of
see through all of the bs and explain to what's
really going on. So here's the story. Washington, DC's Attorney

(00:37):
general suing Amazon, accusing the company of covertly depriving residents
in certain zip codes access to Primes high speed delivery. Yes.
Attorney General Brian Schwab alleges that since two thousand and two,

(00:58):
Amazon has secretly excluded to historically underserved DC zip codes
from its expedited delivery service, while charging Prime members living
there the full subscription price. Okay, here's what he had
to say. Amazon is charging tens of thousands of hardworking

(01:21):
Wards seven and eight residents for an expedited delivery service
it promises but does not provide. While Amazon has every
right to make operational changes, it cannot covertly decide that
a dollar in one zip code is worth less than
a dollar in another. Amazon spokesperson said it's categorially false
that its business practices are discriminatory or deceptive. We want

(01:46):
to be able to deliver as fast as we possibly
can to every zip code across the country. However, at
the same time, we must put the safety of delivery
drivers first. In the zip codes in question have been
specific and targeted acts against drivers delivering Amazon packages. We
made the deliberate choice to adjust our operations, including delivery

(02:09):
routes and times, for the sole reason of protecting the
safety of drivers. There's a shocker. All right, let me
break break this down for you. Okay, here is here's
an attorney general. Then, rather than going after crime, true
crime in the city of Washington, DC, wants to put

(02:32):
a proverbial head on his wall. He's obviously he's obviously
looking to gain a position in higher office, and this
is one way he feels that he can do that.
In June of twenty twenty two, Amazon stopped using its
own delivery trucks to shuttle packages into the zip codes

(02:53):
based on concern over driver safety. Now again, if drivers
and this has happened. Okay, drivers being attacked, packages being stalled.
If something were to happen to one of the drivers,
I think Amazon might get suit. Probably probably Hey Attorney

(03:14):
General will probably be one leading the charge on that one.
Much of Washington, D C. Is how would Donald Trump
put it a shithole? We had a lacrosse tournament in Washington,
d C. And the lady from the club booked us

(03:36):
a hotel and she didn't know what she was doing.
We rolled up in there. I instantly, I instantly text
all of the parents on the team and my text
was I sent that out. I said, I think this
is the hotel that Maryon Barry was staying at. Remember
when Marion Barry was smoking crack with the hooker, Remember

(04:00):
the bitch set me up, Remember that whole thing. I
think this was the hotel. And we proceeded to go
to the DC suburbs and stay in a nice place.
There's a lot of bad areas there is. What is
Amazon supposed to do? Put their put their drivers at risk?
Go take a look. This is in ward seven and

(04:21):
eight in Washington, D C. You don't believe me, Why
don't you take a look at the crime statistics? In
those areas, and again they don't like the speed of
their Amazon delivery in that area, well, they can always
cancel their damn service. Again. This is another one of
in my opinion, life losers looking to well again obviously

(04:44):
hasn't done much. Could take a look at the crime
statistics in Washington. D C needs to build up his
liberal street cred. Great way of building up your liberal
street cred is going after a corporation and sucking money
out of it. Then he can go on the campaign
to this guy's gonna be running for some other office
or looking for some position. I'm the one that took

(05:04):
after went after him, took down Amazon. Yeah, what an
a hole watchdog on Wall Street dot Com
