Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
It's Christmas time in Washington. Yes, Washington are politicians. They
love love Christmas because they abuse Christmas. They also abuse
Thanksgiving as well. It doesn't matter whether it's Congress, doesn't
matter whether it's the President of the United States. They
(00:40):
abuse it. They take advantage of the fact that people
aren't paying attention. I remember Neil Boortz on his radio
show used to make fun of workers getting around the
holiday season. And it's true. It's true a lot of
workers go in a half assed mode once you hit
past Thanksgiving holidays. But anyway, that might be government workers
(01:06):
and bureaucrats. But politicians, they understand that the television networks
are too busy running infomercials on their morning programs. Oh
my god, look at this Christmas Look at this Christmas
barbecue we're having out here out in front of Fox.
And oh we got a Christmas concert out in front
(01:27):
of the Today are some other nonsense that they do
that they're paying attention. It's for ratings whatever. They don't
really pay much attention to what they do in Washington,
d C. The amount of again, for lack of a
better word, cheating, what do you I can call it
(01:49):
million different things that politicians throw at us right around
the holidays. It's extraordinary. No one's paying attention. Do it
late and afternoon before a holiday weekend, oh, the friday
before or begin the Wednesday before Thanksgiving or the friday
(02:10):
after Thanksgiving. And wait, wait, we're gonna get all sorts
of spending bills and omnibus spending bills and reconciliation bills
coming down the pike because nobody is paying attention. One
of my favorites there, Senator Ran Paul. It's being interviewed
(02:35):
about this and talking about Hey, yeah, right now, you've
got both sides, your Republicans and Democrats. Right now, they
got a budget reconciliation bill and again Pentagon.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Oh the Pentagon always needs money. They can never pass
an audit, but they always need money. And he's got
again Republicans are proposing a reconciliation bill that's gonna blow
right through, bust all the Pentagon caps. Yeah, we gotta
make do with our defense contractors. Those Republicans do. And
they got to collect those campaign checks. They gotta buy
(03:11):
their they gotta buy their kids shoes for Christmas. These politicians.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
You see again, this is how the sausage is made. Okay,
you put your guard down, people, you stop paying attention.
