Chris shares a lighthearted Caddyshack reference before delving into a recent interview with the Dalai Lama. In the interview, the Dalai Lama expressed his views on immigration, suggesting that Europe should accept a limited number of immigrants and encouraging people to thrive in their own countries. Markowski highlights the disconnect between the Dalai Lama's pragmatic perspective and the BBC reporter's reaction, offering a humorous yet pointed commentary on immigration debates. www.watchdogonwallstreet.com

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
So the Dali Lama is in the news, and I'm
sorry I couldn't help myself with this one. Not only
not only is the Dali Lama a great golfer. Wow again,
gotta do the old Caddy shack reference here, Carl Spackler,
you remember the scene? Come on, I had to pull

(00:38):
it up exactly. So when Carl Spackler's explaining to d
Nunzio there and how he was he jumped ship in
Hong Kong and he heads his way over to Tibet,
and he says, I'm a loopa you know, a caddy
alopa jock. So I tell him a pro jock.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
And who do you think?

Speaker 2 (01:00):
They give me? The Dali Lama himself, twelfth son of
the Lama, the flowing robes, the gray bald striking. So
I'm on the first team with him. I give him
the driver. He hauls off and wax one big hitter.
The Llama long into a ten thousand foot crevasse right
at the base of this glacier. You know what, the

(01:20):
lama says, gunga galunga, gunga, gunga lagunga. So we finished
the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me and I say, hey, Lama,
I'm a little something, you know, for the effort, you know,
And he says, oh, there won't be any money, but
when you die on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.

(01:46):
So I got that going for me, which is nice.
Couldn't help myself, and no, I can't. I can't do
Bill Murray. But anyway, the Dali Lama is doing an
interview with a BBC reporter and I don't think it
went the way the BBC reporter thought it was going

(02:07):
to go. The BBC reporter starts asking the Dalai Lama
about immigration in the West, and she asks if people
from India or the Middle East want to stay in Europe,
shouldn't they be allowed? And the Dolly's like, limited number,

(02:28):
not everyone. Otherwise Europe becomes Muslim. They're better in their
own land. And again you watched the head explode of
this BBC reporter and she says, well, I'm from India,
my parents came from India. It's like, well, you know,
he's basically in moderation and he's laughing at her. And
the question, so, not only is the Dalai Lama one

(02:54):
hell of a golfer, big hitter there, but he gets
it and when it comes to immigration, watchdog on Wall
