Speaker 2 (00:16):
We need the We need the Derek Zulander School, and
we need it now. Yeah, the Derek Zulander School. I
think I talked about this a couple of weeks ago. Yeah,
the Derek Zulander Center for children who can't read good
and want learn to do other stuff good too. Yeah. Actually,
that would be better than what we've got right now
(00:37):
with the Department of Education and what's happening in our
schools around the country. Yep, sixty seven percent marka MRCA
sixty seven percent of eighth graders who scored at a
basic or better reading level in twenty twenty four was
the lowest share since testing began. Sixty seven sixty percent
(01:04):
of fourth grader's actually hit the benchmark. I ain't kidd
I mean this is this is ridiculous. Again. They're saying
worsening reading skills have potentially wide range and consequences. Test
scores have been linked to the economic success of both
the nation and individuals. No kid, okay, first and foremost.
(01:31):
You know, if your kid is one of those kids
that don't read good, I'm gonna again, here's a here's
a bit of a truth bomb. No spoonful of sugar
to make the medicine go down. That's your fault. Parent.
You're not doing your job. You aren't doing your job.
You're letting your kid hit Do you go play them
with full of what's TikTok and what's videos all freaking
(01:53):
day long.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Put the take the freaking phone away, take the phone away,
take the tea away, take the video games away, and
make your kid read a book novel concept okay.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Put the book near my head. I'm gonna learn by osmosis.
What do you people? I mean, honestly, your parents for
crying out loud, you're going to rely upon the school
to do all the work. Are you out of your mind?
That's your job as a parent. And again, you know,
I said, I feel bad for a lot of school
teachers out there. They catch a lot of the blame
for this. Let me tell you something, Okay, if the
(02:33):
parents don't give it, damn, the kid ain't going to
give it. Damn ninety nine percent of the time. Okay,
if the parents don't give a darn, the kid is
not going to give a darn. It's that simple. There's
only so much teachers could do. I challenge you. You can
find the most highly educated teachers in the entire world.
(02:55):
You put them in a school district where the kids
don't give it damn because the parents don't give a damn,
that school and the test scores are going to suck.
So yes, parents, it's on you. How about a little responsibility.
How about raising your kids? How about taking their phone away?
How about having them actually read a book? Watchdog on
