Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Oh, mainstream media is working really hard, working over time
right now, bringing people onto their programs, interviewing what I
like to call government dreamers. Yes, government dreamers. These are
people that come.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
On, I thought I had my dream job working for
the IRS. I thought I had my dream job working
for this agency, and lo and behold, I was laid off.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Lots of that nowadays, Lots of these stories we're hearing
there and everywhere, and the interviews are kind of funny.
I mean, they're setting these things up. I was watching one.
This guy is like, you know, oh no, how do
I feel? It's terrible. I'm angry, I'm upset. I guess
he got went through a four month training program at

(01:08):
the I r S and he was told that he
was going to be let go and he's none too
happy about that. And hmm, yeah, Frank Sinatra, that's life.
And again, I don't mean to be harsh by any stretch.
The imagination. You're already starting to see Republicans come out

(01:30):
of the woodwork about this. Oh you know this is
you know, feel bad for these people. This is terrible. Listen, Okay,
pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and go get yourself
a job. Now again, you trained at the I R. S.
So you must have some interest in taxation, I would assume,

(01:55):
unless again, it's just your dream job based upon the benefits,
the time off off, and everything that goes along with that.
So again I'm just going to go along saying that
you really wanted to get involved in tax i, got
an idea, be an accountant. Become an accountant. They're hiring
them everywhere. Okay, you graduate from college nowadays you've got

(02:16):
an accounting to read. You're going to find a job.
But quick, why not go on that route? Why not
use this temporary setback as an opportunity for I don't know,
maybe a little bit of personal growth and moving forward.
This is, you know, this is the reality of life
in America. I'm gonna I'm gonna say this again. I

(02:39):
said it a couple of days ago here on the program. Nothing, nothing,
entitles you to job security. I don't have job security.
I don't have job security if I don't get up.
If we at Markowski Investments don't get up every single
day and kick ass and do the best possible job

(03:01):
that we can do, guess what we could be eliminated.
And oh, that's not cold cruel world capitalism. That's reality.
That's always been reality. Yeah, we can go back to
the time we were hunters and gatherers for crying out
loud and yep, you had to go out into the

(03:22):
forest to go kill yourself some dinner. You didn't kill
yourself some dinner. You were gonna starve. You know. Steve
Jobs his birthday and he sent this quote out to
his employees. This is back in two thousand and two.

(03:47):
The subject was Aristotle. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then,
is not an act but a habit. Now again, if
you live your life that way, you take whatever you

(04:08):
learned from that government job and you move on, You're
gonna do well in life. I'm here to tell you, though.
It's not gonna be the last time you get knocked down.
Happens all the time. And again, you know, like that

(04:29):
that great Rocky Rocky monologue that he gave to his
son back then. You know it's it's not a matter
of it's not a matter of getting knocked downs about
getting up. Life is gonna give you tons and tons
of hits. So you know, you lost your government job,

(04:51):
pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and move on. Don't
be going on. I'm just gonna go down and just
declare for unemployment and sit on my ass. No, no,
don't do that. Okay, guess guess what employers are going
to see that. They're going to recognize people and they're

(05:13):
going to say, who this one's a little bit lazy.
Go out and get yourself a job today. Start beating
the pavement watch dog on Wall street dot com.
