Chris mocks the European Union’s photo-op attempts to present unity as they struggle to form a coherent plan for Ukraine. Despite efforts from Macron and others, no European countries have committed to sending troops. The UK and France are only dispatching advisors for now, while the U.S. remains noncommittal. With Germany pledging $3 billion and France $2 billion, Markowski questions the EU’s capability and strategic approach. Should the U.S. stay out of this mess? www.watchdogonwallstreet.com

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it will have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
EU Avengers assemble. You see, all right, they had a
big meeting in Europe. Yeah, the big meeting in Europe.
And how do you know, well they take pictures. Yeah, emon,
notice one of the leaders from the European Union. They
always get together. They put together a nice little podium
and they all stand all serious there, looking tough and

(00:39):
their suits and cool. Avengers assemble. It's like some half
ass Marvel movie poster for crying out loud, what are
you European countries gonna do? Gonna do again? There was
a bunch of them up there, and of course you
had Zelenski there as well. But guess what. Britain and
France are faltering in their campaign to persuade other European

(01:02):
allies to send troops into Ukraine to secure any peace deal.
You guys, do it? Have at it? Gohead? Sure you
want to go go ahead, go ahead, take that leadership role. Macrone.
You're a big, big big French leader there, French President

(01:26):
Emmanuel Macrone. He brought together the Avengers, the EU Avengers,
including uh Zelenski uh in a bid too hammer out
and agreement for a European deployment of land, air and
maritime forces that could go to Ukraine. Yeah. No, no

(01:47):
commitment from any other European countries to send troops, he said.
The UK and France plan to dispatch a team to
Ukraine to determine how many European troops Kiev needs and
where to station them. All. They're sending advisors, advisor and

(02:07):
then after the advisors come back, they can all they
can all plan another meeting. They can come back to Paris,
you know, have their you know, stay in nice fancy hotels.
They could do another picture. They could take another picture
looking tough, do another EU Avengers assemble picture, and then
you know, move on. Central to the concerns of European

(02:30):
countries is whether whether what what do you think it is?
What do you think I'm gonna say next? Whether or
not the United States is going to play some role
in supporting a European deployment if it came under fire
from Russia. I guess Trump they got Trump on the

(02:52):
phone yesterday and we haven't committed. Trump's chief negotiator with Russia,
Steve Wickcough, basically said the Franco British initiative is a
posture and oppose an attempt to be like Winston Churchill.

(03:13):
Pretty much. Pretty much, McCrone said, we wish. My wish
is that the Americans are engaged at our side, but
we have to be prepared for a situation in which
they maybe don't join us. I certainly hope not. I
certainly hope not. Again. Germany's parliament approved an additional three

(03:37):
billion for military aid. France is going to do another
two billion dollars. You know, good luck with that. They're
really not capable doing much at all. And it was
interesting as well as a little side note. Italian Prime
Minister Georgia Maloney was just interviewed by the Financial Times
and they tried to box her and to a corner

(04:00):
because of her relationship with the United States, and she
reiterated her commitment to maintaining strong diplomatic relations with both
the United States and Europe. She emphasized that the idea
of Italy choosing between its ties with the United States
and the EU is childish and superficial. She advocates for

(04:24):
Italy's role within the whole Western Alliance while respecting wait
for it, it's long standing alliance with the US as
its first ally. I told you we could pick off
various different countries and say, you know, guys, you know

(04:45):
what you know? Again, this is what I would be doing, Okay,
I would be trying to strike trade agreements with individual
European countries. If Jermany doesn't like it, who the hell cares.
