Chris shares deep concerns about the escalating conflict in Ukraine, warning that the situation is at a critical, last-chance moment. He discusses the recent missile barrage on Kiev during the Easter ceasefire, the assassination of a top Russian general near Moscow, and the troubling possibility that certain powers might want to prolong the war for profit. Reflecting on Donald Trump's calls for peace and the broader human cost of continued fighting, Markowski urges listeners to recognize the devastating consequences of endless war—and warns that the conflict may soon either spiral into something far worse or, with luck, de-escalate if cooler heads prevail. www.watchdogonwallstreet.com

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
I have to admit I'm pretty spooked right now. We've
got like last chance type of a situation when it
comes to Ukraine. In my opinion, this week was ugly
and it made a little bit of the news cycle.
You know, Donald Trump putting out that tweet on to
truth telling Vladimir Putin to please stop, please stop. There

(00:40):
was a missile barrage that hit keV. I guess eight
people were killed. Last weekend. They had a cease fire
for Easter with both Russia and Ukraine Orthodox Christians, which
again makes this even more pathetic. And say, as far

(01:00):
as I'm concerned, but we just had this happen and
this is not good. A top Russian general was assassinated
in the car bombing in the Russian city of Balashika.

(01:22):
It's about twenty miles east of Moscow. Lieutenant General Yaroslav
mosque Klik. He is the deputy head of Main Operations
director of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces,
A homemade explosive device detonated under his car. What this
tells me? I don't know. I don't know who set

(01:46):
the bomb off. I don't know if it was a
false flag type of situation set off by Vladimir to
keep this conflict going. I don't know if it was
the Ukraine. Uh, you know, their spies working behind the
lines in Russia. They've done this before. Maybe they did it.

(02:09):
I don't know. But I'm almost at a point in
time right now where it almost seems like that there's
powers that be and I don't want to stand and
I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist by
any stretch of the imagination, that do not want this
war to end. And that always the case. Again, it's

(02:32):
a lot of money in war, a lot of money
in war. The profiteers that are out there. And if
you are your supplying weapons, and again you've got you've
got customers on both sides of the aisle. And again
you're one of those people that you know, you just
don't have any sort of conscience whatsoever. This is great

(02:56):
opportunity for you, you know, it's this is reading out
of sympathy for the devil you get. I mean, every
that's such a great song by the Rolling Stones, and
and I don't know when when was it recorded. I
don't I don't even know. I love the song. But
he could add, you could add, you could add various

(03:20):
different you know stanzas to that song. As history goes along,
I mean, I think it could be perpetual. You know
where you seem like the devil was involved in this
one Devil's above. I mean, this is this is not good.
And again I hear what what Donald Trump is saying.
It was one of the reasons why I was encouraged
when he became president when it came to foreign policy,

(03:42):
putting an end to these conflicts. And he constantly hits
about the you know, the thousands of kids that are
dying every day. Sometimes again we put that out of mind.
You know, we're caught up in our own lives and
you think about the said you take a step back,
You think the pain, the pain that is endured every

(04:06):
day my families on both the Ukrainie and Russian side,
You know, for what at this point in time. But
I think we're at unfortunately, and I don't want to
be the bearer of bad news. This can go one
of two ways. Right now, I think it's going to
get much much worse. Or again, maybe cooler heads will

(04:31):
prevail and we can go in the opposite direction. Watchdog
