Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Could it be might we have a little small business
tariff relief? Yeah? The business community is and a lot
of United States centers are reaching out to Jamison Greer,
who is the US Trade Representative, about providing exclusions from
(00:36):
tariffs for small businesses because in essence, they're saying the
American dream disappears, and they're not wrong. Stephen Miller yesterday
was being interviewed and he kind of brufshed off the
statement from the Chamber of Commerce saying that well, there's
going to be big tax cuts, and that's what small
(00:57):
businesses are going to benefit from. The tax cuts are
it's an extension of what they have going on, and
I want to push forward with those unless, of course,
they lower the tax on businesses corporate corporate tax. But again,
most businesses are sub chapter s, meaning that's not going
to really hit them or help them anyway. So again,
(01:20):
I don't know, but we're seeing some signs here where
politicians are getting the calls, they're getting the phone calls,
small businesses are reaching out and there's pushback. So hopefully
god Willing will have some sort of small business exclusion
from tariffs. The only thing bothered me was that Senator
(01:42):
Rand Paul met with the Trade rep and he basically
said the meeting was like it's like going to an
industrial policy meeting at the Soviet Union. You have to
be nice to the Coomassar because if you're nice to
the Komasar, they'll bequeathed upon you exemptions. Again, not something
(02:04):
we want to hear. Again. I've talked about that in
the past. Who has access, who can actually get things done?
Obviously big businesses can. And when you have that again,
carve outs, handouts, giveaways. We're all supposed to be equal
under the law, but when it comes to small business,
they're getting smacked up side the head. Let's see what happens.
(02:26):
See what happens again. Second one, today you're saying there's
a chance we might get some small business tariff relief.
