We go somewhere we've never been before.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Not just entertainment, but.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Somehow we're born together. Sound that I can feel somehow
outbreak feels.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Good in a place like that, that is like psychopath
Our Euros feel like the best part of us.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
And stories feel perfect and powerful.

They are LEAs get stuff they knew and they let
it happen.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Brand Bright Barton, Minnesotan Maga media.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Talk about that, and then I'm gonna do my best
to get through this stack right here in my hands.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
That's meaty.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
It is a little meaty. It is a little meaty.
But we'll see how far we get in today's stack.
I want to start here, though, with an update from
the story that we brought to you last week here
on Twin Cities News Talking. Please get the talkbacks in.
We are gonna treat this not a Freedom Friday. Thank
you to Encourageable though on X, who has relabeled it

(01:33):
today since it is the last show of twenty twenty
five not Freedom Friday, but it is Liberty Thursday because
the tea's in there.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
I don't take it. The works, the alliteration isn't there.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
It's a little week. It's a little week. But I'm
still gonna take it because I like me some encourageable
Let's go here though. This was City council votes to
consider actions against Mayor Jennifer Carnahan.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
The council is exploring.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
Whether to censure the mayor, deliver of votes or no confidence,
much like Padme and Phantom Menace second Phantom Menace reference
this week to remove her from city committees. I'm working
off of a version here from bring me the News,
where then was city council is moving forward with three
potential actions against Mayor Jennifer Carnahan. Controversy follows her wherever

(02:37):
she goes, the former Minnesota GOP chair, who is again
at the center of controversy.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
As I mentioned.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
On Tuesday, the council directed the city attorney to prepare
resolutions related to that vote of no consience, censure, and
remove the mayor from the committees to be.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Considered at a meeting in January.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
All motions were made by council member jesse Zhan and
unopposed by the council's three other members.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Now, this of course follows as we.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Talked about last week a special meeting, wherein it focused
entirely on Carnahan's conduct, including her recent claim that she
was assaulted by her residence, who sent her an email
addressing what was perceived as an inappropriate conduct. During the
special meeting, the council also addressed the alleged doing that
with my fingers toxic environment created by Carnahan during her

(03:30):
first term, which has led to a turnover in Niswa
City Hall.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
This is like I've never been to Niswa.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
For everything I've heard about, Niswash is a very sleepy
sort of area, not one to really get embroiled in
a lot of controversies.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
This is completely unnecessary.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
There should be no controversy in being the mayor of Niswa.
Carnahan claims the resolutions attempting to limit her free speech
as a city council conflict with the First Amendment. Zon
called Carnahan's for Carnahan's immediate resignation during last week special meeting.
Carnahan reiterated on Tuesday this week that she will not

(04:09):
step down on Tuesdays accused Carnahan of trying to scare
Nisua resident Sophie Foster with an assault allegation. It came
days after Foster sent an email to the mayor claiming
that she and other Main Street to Ale house employees
and customers heard a loud and rude conversation between the
mayor and others regarding Zon, including how to embarrass him

(04:33):
into resigning. This is not any type of political stunt,
as you've alluded to, Mayor Carnahan. This is again, simply accountability,
Zon said. Carnahan set in a preparation for Tuesday's meeting
that she asked her attorneys and legal counsel to review

(04:54):
the city council Code of Conduct. She said they concluded
that there had been no violations. Seems Apropos shocked not
surprised by that. Cardahan didn't attend the special meeting last Wednesday,
did refuse to answer any council questions about the incident
with Foster. On Tuesday, she said, I believe it's time
for us to move forward, get back to the business

(05:16):
in hand, and put these disputes to the side.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Yeah, I bet you believe that. I'm sure she does.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
A handful of residents did speak out about the infighting
at Niswa City Hall on Tuesday, and this is the
end of the story. In going back to what I
mentioned about Niswa sort of being a sleepier town. One
woman who recently moved to town learned about the conflict
during the meeting and felt compelled to share her thoughts, saying,
from an outside perspective, not having any information about this

(05:47):
before the meeting, this council and this community are very dysfunctional.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
It feels like a high school.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
You do wonder, though, if you're in Niswa, and if
I have any miss wad listeners. I love we reached that.
I'm gonna say probably not, but you could be listening
on the iHeartRadio Worldwhie like I do wonder if you're
in this one just watching from the side, if this
is exciting for the community. Typically we don't get embroiled
with this. You got your fraud down at the state Capitol.

(06:16):
We've got Jennifer Carterhead. The woman added that she grew
up in a town with fewer residents than this Wa,
so she's familiar with small town drama, going on to say,
I want to love this community that I just joined,
so maybe try to set aside your differences figure it
out both the council and the community, because there was

(06:36):
a lot of hatred up here too. So there will
not be any updates to this, I would imagine until
the meeting in a January, and we'll certainly follow and
keep you up to speed on whatever takes place when
I get back from vacation on Monday, January fifth. All right,

(06:58):
coming up, we'll get to your talkbacks from the iHeartRadio app. Also,
Dan Bongino leaving the FBI, writing God bless America and
all those who defend her. I was not surprised at
all by this news, and I will share with you why.
I was not shocked to see that Dan Bongino is
a leaving, Perhaps surprised that it is so soon, but
at the same time not that surprised. And Trump gave

(07:20):
his national address last night really interesting because this was
being framed as something much bigger than it turned out
to be. Unless you're in the military, in which case
you are probably smiling broadly this morning based off of
one announcement that the President did make. I will share
with you comments from Trump and we'll get to your
comments as well. Here on Twin Cities News Talk Am

(07:40):
eleven thirty and one oh three five FM.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
Good morning, and I love your show.

Speaker 6 (07:50):
I'm a recovering city at that moved north of the
city is near Rock Street, and I looked at Nisoir
and I just shake my head because these people are
to happen when Ulet City its take over your little town.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
I had to give that one a a listen because
the translator didn't pick up on city. It's it abbreviated
it CTS.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
And I wasn't exactly sure which way he was going
to go with that.

Speaker 7 (08:23):
Good Morning John said, some bread. I've thought of you
because I'm going to Arizona, leaving on Saturday, getting out
of this take the liberal state, going to a probably
not a not a conservative state, but Arizona's better than Minnesota.

(08:44):
Marry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
I've received a lot of Christmas greetings, so I'm hanging
on to these.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
I'm writing them down. I may end up doing.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Like talkbacks of the day because I'm getting so many
greetings Christmas greetings, and I really do appreciate him. But
I may save and compile all these towards the end
of the show. So if you are leaving one of
those thank you and just you know, hang out. I
will eventually eventually get to that let's go, let's go here.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Please.

Speaker 8 (09:16):
I rushed to turn on iHeart so I don't miss
any of your shows and I get hit with they
them energy.

Speaker 7 (09:23):
Not the first thing in the morning, John, Please.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
But at what point is it no longer first thing
in the morning. I would argue, that's the best time
in the show. It's gonna bring you gotta you gotta
get you, gotta get the energy going. You know, it's
all subjective.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
It's all. It's it's all, it's it's all subjective.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
Dan Bongino posted a farewell announcement on x yesterday. Bongino's
message came soon after Trump hinted at Bongino's departure in
comments made on the tarmac of joined to Bassa andrews
Is saying, of Bongino, I think he wants to go
back to his show.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
I will be leaving my position in the FBI in January.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
I want to thank Trump, Bondi, and Patel for the
opportunity to serve with purpose. Most importantly, I want to
thank you, my fellow Americans, for the privilege to serve you,
God bless and all those who defend her Now. Bongino
recently wrapped up one of his priorities for the FBI
since coming on as deputy director, identifying the suspected bomber

(10:25):
who planned the bombs outside the Republican and Democrat headquarters
on January fifth of two thousand and one in DC.
The Department of Justice under Pam Bondi has been roiled
by controversies working off of a version of the story
here from a Daily Wire over the past year, including
its handling of the so called Epstein files prosecutions targeting

(10:45):
some of Trump's chief antagonists. White House Chief of Staff
Susie Wiles was critical of Bondi in comments published recently
in Vanity Fair. Wiles said Bondi mishandled the investigation into
Epstein when she released old information to a group of
right wing reporters and internet influencers. Now after joining the FBI,
Pattel and Bongino investigated their hunch about the Epstein Files.

(11:07):
They later came to the conclusion that the so called
secret files did not exist, and said as much publicly.
The handling of the Epstein pro sparked attentions within the
Justice Department. Bongino reportedly took issue with Bondie's handling of
the situation. In particular, at the time, the deputy head
of the FBI was rumored to be on the way
out of re frustrations with the Attorney General. There's no

(11:28):
confirmation of that, although this would appear to be confirmation
of perhaps some of the reporting of his frustrations with
Pam Bondi.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
But as I mentioned.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
The other in the previous segment, I'm not surprised by this.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
Dan Bongino married has.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
A very close relationship with his wife, dealt with a
cancer scare that probably he's still going to have to
deal with in the future as he tries to stave
it off. I know, I believe he was able to
beat the cancer so far, but obviously there's always some
concern of it coming back again. So given a year
in office, this does not surprise me that Dan Bongino

(12:08):
is leaving. I didn't have any expectation personally that he
was going to be staying there long long term, so
I don't know. There's going to be a lot of
fans of his show that'll be very pleased to have
him back on his show, and I assume he's going
back to a show at this point in time.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
I don't know who took over.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
I mean I would listen to it on occasion on
the drive in, and honestly, ever since he was he
was appointed to the position, I haven't bothered to check
out who's been filling in for him since then.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Good Morning, John.

Speaker 8 (12:37):
Watched the President's speech last night.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
It was frickin' awesome, best speech I ever heard.

Speaker 9 (12:42):
It was direct and it is straightened out a lot
of things.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Are you tired of Trump winning?

Speaker 10 (12:47):
Yet?

Speaker 2 (12:49):
This is going to.

Speaker 11 (12:49):
Be a great twenty twenty six and we'll get to
a good day.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
Thank you. We'll get to some of this in just
a moment.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
I pulled a couple of clips last from last night,
probably when I'm my favorite clips of Trump's address last night,
and also him commenting on the fraud here in Minnesota.
It's interesting because in the lead up to the address,
a lot of people were reporting I even went so
far as to mention it to the family that there

(13:16):
was an expectation that he would be alluding to going
to war with Venezuela. Yesterday on the show, we talked
about how they're currently is a trade shipping blockade around Venezuela.
And the chatter heading into last night was that he
was either going to declare that we are going to
war with Venezuela or that war is coming with Venezuela,

(13:37):
and that was coming from a lot of prominent individuals.
I believe that Tucker Carlson may have even have said
as much. I can't help but wonder, and this is
just me putting on my tinfoil hat for the last
show of twenty twenty five. I can't help but wonder
if those were put out there by design to get
more eyeballs on what the President had to say last night,
because what ended up being was essentially a look back

(13:59):
at the previous year and what he plans to do
in the coming year, and also announcing these dividend checks
bonuses for our US troops. So we'll dive into this
and we'll get to more of your talkbacks from the
iHeartRadio app brought to you by Lyndal Realty next right
here on Twinsday's newstalk AM eleven thirty and one oh
three five FM. I sense that I'm going to be

(14:25):
saying this a lot on the show this morning, But
thank you for all of the Christmas wishes.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
I'm gonna save. I'm marking these down.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
I'm going to save these for later on in the
in the show because honestly, at this point in time,
with the talkbacks that are rolling in, I can pretty
much just call to day and just play all your
Christmas wishes. But we do have other content that we
need to get to here from the sixty five to
one carpet plus Next Day install studios here on Twin
City's News Talk.

Speaker 8 (14:52):
So before some of the folds of the show or
the liberals call up and start saying buying Genos, he's
in trouble, he's leaving, he can't do anything. This is
what actual people do that are on the right. They
go in, they do what they need to do, provide
their service, and then they go back to what they
were doing before. They don't stay in there and hoard

(15:15):
money and hoard power and do nothing moving forward.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
One hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (15:21):
No, that's a fantastic comment, worthy of Comment of the
of the day.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Rich No, absolutely, and thank you for that.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
These are the kind of people that you want in
an office, not the ones that want to be there
forever but the ones that want to come in do
what they need to do, and if they still feel
like they're going to be effective, stay in and be effective.
But otherwise, you know, get out and go back to
living your life. And doesn't surprise me at all that
Dan Bongino has decided that within a year to go

(15:50):
ahead and get back to more than likely doing his
show and back to his wife. Honestly, I was surprised
to a certain extent. I mean, not surprise, surprise, but
when Bongino took the job, I was like, wow, really,
because I never felt that it was going to be permanent.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
I mean, how can it be.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
You're only in office for four years, and whoever the
next president is, unless it's Jdvans, let's praise JD. Vans,
you know, keeps him along. I never expected that he
was going to stay there for that for that long.
So all right, let's get back to President Donald Trump
and his comments last night White House speech. He stated
that he was sending a oney seven and seventy six

(16:28):
bonus check to US troops for Christmas, indicating that tariffs
were funding the payments, as he tried to reassure worried
public about the health of the economy. Trump said that
one point five one point four or five million military
service members would get the Warrior dividend before Christmas.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Oh hell yeah, the checks are already on the way.
So I pulled this story.

Speaker 4 (16:55):
Doing my prep, and first one of the first places
I landed on it was Cara Leven.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
I think I grabbed it and I'm doing notes.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
You get to the next line in the story because
I didn't pull where it was from apart from Caraleven.
But they don't always write the stories, and it's the
case with this one. The next line after the checks
are already on the way, seven hundred and seventy six
dollars bonus checks for the troops. The next paragraph is
yet his bonus payments for the troops come as millions
of Americans are fretting about the cost of groceries, housing utilities,

(17:24):
and their holiday gifts, as inflation remains elevated in the
labor market has meaningfully weakened in recent months.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
It's the associated press. I shouldn't be surprised by that.
They have what's called a Trump derangement problem. Have you
heard about that problem? Yeah, that's right here in the story.
When I started no, actually I was.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
That was It was several years after I got into radio,
but I was doing the morning show in Riverside, San
Bernardino on X one O three point nine.

Speaker 12 (17:52):
And.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
It really sticks out in my mind because that was
I was on the air when nine to eleven happened,
and so I remember this specifically. So you had the
Internet back then, but it was still sort of it
in its infancy. I hadn't seen any of what had transpired.
The first image that I saw at nine to eleven
was in a production studio on a small picture tube TV.
I don't know, it's like a twelve inch if that,

(18:15):
And all I saw was one It was a still
shot of one of the twin towers with a hole
in it, smoke coming out. We had in studio a
one print one printer and it was our AP. It
was our Associated Press machine. That's all that it was.
It would just print out Associated Press news back when
they were actually, you know, doing good journalism, not like

(18:39):
they are now, this bias trash organization that still unfortunately
gets leaned on by a lot of local news outlets.
But I still remember that machine because we were getting
the updates, especially on nine to eleven that morning. And
just as a side note, boy, some of the UH
I still remember the reporting and how our erroneous it

(19:00):
was at the time when that day was going on
about all these different events that were taking place, bombs
going off on bridges and things like this, reports that
were happening that just were not true at all.

Speaker 11 (19:15):
Marta John, I read about the military bonus of seventeen
hundred and seventy six dollars A great idea. I think
he be twoenty twenty eight dollars and just call it
Trump twenty twenty eight. Maybe bend a few liberal braves
for a while and throw a distraction out. Great chill
and have merry Christmas.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
I think the seventeen seventy six is appropriate. I appreciate
the historical reference here is that Trump from last night
talking about Minnesota.

Speaker 5 (19:46):
American born citizens one hundred percent. In the end, government
either serves the productive, patriotic, hard work and American citizen,
or it serves those who break the laws, cheat system,
and seek power and profit at the expense of our nation.
Look at Minnesota, where some millions have taken over the

(20:08):
economics of the state and have stolen billions and billions
of dollars from Minnesota and indeed from the United States
of American.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
We're going to put an end to it.

Speaker 5 (20:18):
For so long as before my election, the vast majority
of good and decent Americans were forced to watch as
corrupt politician plunder the halls of power.

Speaker 13 (20:30):
CBS always starts out with this negativity before the address,
despite the fact that this is the President of the
United States addressing the country, saying, well, the President's probably
going to say something like this, even though you know
it's probably not true. And then after the fact they
just have to downgrade what he's saying. It's just so tiresome,

(20:52):
you know, it's just constant division. Just support the guy
as the president of the United States.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
This is probably probably one of my favorite moments from
last night. The only disappointment before I played this, the
only in disappointment's not the right word. I I was hoping.
I was hoping he was going to announce moving towards
ending the federal income tax. That's what I want to
see happen.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
Now.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
It's a dangerous gambit because you and I both know,
depending on who's in power here in Minnesota, if Donald
Trump were to go and end the federal income tax,
which he has suggested could be done much like these
dividend checks for troops. Because of the money the tariffs
have brought in, there is a concern that Democrats will simply,
in states like ours, try to go and tax us more,

(21:38):
saying well, they're getting more money back, we'll just go
ahead and take it.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
But that is not an excuse not to do it.
Be that as it may.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
He did not make that announcement last night. He did
say this, and again, this is one of my favorite
moments from Trump's national address.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
I think most would agree.

Speaker 5 (21:52):
I was elected in a landslide, winning the popular vote
and all seven swing states and everything else.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
I just loved the and everything else. So it's obligatory, unnecessary,
but I still just like that part of how he speaks.

Speaker 5 (22:11):
With a mandate to take on a sick and corrupt
system that extray really just took the wealth from people
and crushed the dreams of the American people. For the
last four years, the United States was ruled by politicians
who fought only for insiders, illegal aliens, career criminals, corporate lobbyists, prisoners, terrorists,

(22:35):
and above all, foreign nations which took advantage of US
at levels.

Speaker 7 (22:40):
Never seen before.

Speaker 5 (22:42):
They flooded your cities and towns with illegal aliens. They
decimated your hard earned savings. They indoctrinated your children with
hate for America.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
Release really, I mean.

Speaker 5 (22:54):
They just released a level of violent felons that we
had never seen to prey on innocent They caused war,
They caused may'am. They caused a horrible situation all over
the glow. But now you have a president of who
fights for the law abidy hardworking people of our country,
the ones who make this nation run, who make this

(23:17):
nation work.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
In the meantime, when it comes to the grenches of
the show, they're just never ever happy.

Speaker 14 (23:26):
Yeah, John, And just as the show of Ian Prairie.
You know you don't hear any brag about seventeen seventy
six dollars. You know, some of those liberals who pay
high taxes, we're paying for that. I'm bailing up the
farmers for twelve billion.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
Well let me stop here really quick, Phil, Do you
not listen at all? This is money brought in from
the tariffs. I know you're trying to make this loose
association with this farmer's and whatnot, but no, this is
money that was gained from the tariffs. I just my
expectations are low. At the same time, time put me

(24:00):
in a grunch.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
I pay a lot of tacks.

Speaker 14 (24:03):
Nice going to that crap. You we am a veteran.
I support the veterans, but come on, manquick pay him
with August seventeen, seventy six bowl crap.

Speaker 4 (24:12):
Have a good day, man, I hope you find some
Christmas joy.

Speaker 9 (24:17):
Phil That was he literally said, I support the veterans,
but they shouldn't get this money.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
All right, it's by the stand. Yeah, that's that's pretty
much where he where where he landed.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
They knew and they let it happen. You can look
all around it an hip hockry. Nothing but charity as
far as the I can see. All right, let's go here.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
I've been hold on to this one for a while. Actually,
I've been holding on to this one since Thanksgiving. So
the Sunday after Thanksgiving is traditionally the biggest travel day
of the year. The agency projected at the time that
more than three million travelers had took tip to the
guys on No so soon that travel spike is about
to take place once again. Some of those travelers, however,

(25:08):
at the time and in the coming week may think
twice about tossing on sweats for their flight home thanks
to the Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy's recent exhortation to leave
the pajamas at home and dress.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
With respect on flights.

Speaker 4 (25:26):
Now, I have a out of the box hot take
on this that'll share here in a bit, and I
know that Brett in the Master Control Booth has his thoughts.
The Daily Wire took a trip down Broadway in the
heart of Nashville to talk to Americans about how they
felt at the time about Duffy's statement. One individual said,
we used to have dignity and everything that we did,
lamenting that we have decayed into being comfortable in.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
Every aspect of our lives.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
I would agree people should dress up, especially at the airport,
said another. Whose nicely tailored suit may indicate a little bias,
and get back to that in the moment because that
plays into my hettake. Others rejected Duffy's called a fly formal,
an attitude that may be appealing to anyone flying home
after a long weekend with stuffing, cheer and more stuffing.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Again, this was going off of Thanksgiving.

Speaker 4 (26:17):
To dress up is just uncomfortable, one woman told The
Daily Wire. Now, Duffy introduced a new campaign. At the time,
it was called the Golden Age of Travels Starts with You.
Duffy's goal was to restore courtesy in class to air
travel by first respecting yourself, and that message seems to
resonate with Americans, with one traveler saying that dressing nicely

(26:39):
is a sign that you respect yourself and those around you.
Another added that all the airport staff will treat you
better guaranteed. Some travelers, though, argue that the revival of
the air standards needs to start at the top.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
So I'm kind of neutral on this.

Speaker 4 (26:56):
I'll share with you my thoughts here in just a moment, because,
if more a bit, I've actually been leaning more recently
in my travels to dressing more comfortably than I have
in the in the past, and this became a point
of contention when last year, yeah, last year, I.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
Had gone to Georgia. And I'll get to this in
just a moment.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
Brett, however, you are going to be of the two
of us getting on a plane here within a matter
of hours essentially, Yeah, So do you already know what
you will be wearing on your travels to the Sun State.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
I want to say this. I want to use my
words carefully. Okay, now, why as you always should when
you're on the radio.

Speaker 9 (27:37):
Yes, what Duffy said is the dumbest thing I've ever
heard anyone say. All right, okay, it's ridiculous, and anyone
supporting it, I think is ridiculous. Think about all the
inconveniences you have with their travel, how much it is,
how cramped it is, how claustrophobic, the seats aren't comfortable.

(27:59):
I mean unless you're flying Delta and you get the
screen you're on your own for you know, entertainment you
got to watch on your phone. They're they're the delays,
the constant delays. I'm probably gonna get delayed tonight because
of this ice potential storm going on. All of that combines.
You're telling me that have to further inconvenience myself again

(28:20):
to dress up for who for random strangers. No, it
We're going through enough as it is for air travelers
with as far as prices and inconveniences. The least we
can do is twenty twenty five, almost twenty six. The
least we can do is just be comfortable on our own.
Now you should have like proper hygiene and you should
be putting on deodorant and brushing your teeth. That's just

(28:43):
a common courtesy in life. So I'm not suggesting you
just roll out of bed and go in on the plane,
but you should be dressing comfortable.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
And I will dress very comfortable tonight. Let me tell.

Speaker 4 (28:53):
You, your take is really interesting because it demonstrates the
change in attitude toward air travel for all those relevant reasons.
When people used to dress up, and this was even
really before my time.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
I think perhaps when I was.

Speaker 4 (29:17):
Younger, people were still getting dressed up a little bit.
But back when, you know, air travel was newer, and
I use that loosely. It's been around for a while, right,
but there used to be sort of this when air
travel first arrived. It was almost deemed like a luxury, like, wow,
we can travel on an airplane get to a place

(29:39):
much quicker. And you're also looking at a time period
where people just dressed dressier than they do now. You
go back and watch those videos you know, from the
from the fifties and even some in the sixties, and
an individual wearing jeans and a T shirt was you know,
sort of either considered a mechanic or part of some

(30:00):
moving gang.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
Right, I'm just I'm using reef hair. Yeah, great hair.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
I'm using extremes. I'm using extremes on this. So times
have changed. I think there's a balance. I don't think
people should be getting on the on a plane wearing pajamas, right.
That being said, you know, being comfortable is important. I
don't have a I don't really have a hard stance
on this. I am always amazed when well I was.
I was always amazed when I would go out to

(30:26):
the airport or a theme park and I would see
individuals that were legitimately out, like in their sweats, Like.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
How could you go?

Speaker 4 (30:32):
Like it didn't bother me. I didn't think it was slovenly.
I was just like, wow, I would never do that.
I'm always going to be in jeans of some sort
or if it's hot outside, shorts, depending on where I'm
where I'm living. Now that had that has changed for
me quite a bit because now I wear I'm actually
wearing joggers, you know, this morning. They're more they're more
in style. It's funny because one of the first times
I actually dressed the most comfortably was when I went

(30:53):
to Georgia for this event and fellow radio talk show
host and friend of mine, Tony Katz is a art
is an ardent supporter of dressing up, dress to impress
when you get on a flight for who he thinks,
he thinks suit, jacket, collared shirt, the whole nine yards.

(31:16):
And what's really funny about this is that I was
not aware of his stance. And I had a layover
in Charlotte when I went out, and when I arrived
to get on the plane, he was on the flight
already up in first class. So I walked on and
I was just I was in my Twin Cities news

(31:37):
talk hoodie. I had, you know, a pair of black
joggers on and and tennis shoes and he was wearing
a suit. Didn't think anything of it at the time
until we got to the event, and a part of
the discussions that we were having ended up hinging on
his idea that people should dress more appropriately when out
in public, and he specifically went to talk about flying,

(31:59):
to which during this event, I actually wouldn't push back
on him, and I was like, no, wait a second,
Wait a second, wait a second, because he was going
in really slamming individuals that didn't get dressed up or
didn't dress properly in his mind, and I said, well,
some of us just want to be comfortable. Now, before
I get to the talkbacks, here's my hot take on this.
You know what the bigger issue is, I think for

(32:20):
a lot of people in dressing nicer and getting on
planes and not being comfortable, I think it really depends
on how well your clothes fit. Because I've had I've
had suits that have fit a lot, that have fit
really really well, that were totally comfortable to be in,
and it was it was never it was never an issue.

(32:40):
But as you get older and you put on way
till the suits don't fit as much anymore. And a
lot of times I don't go and update the clothes
even though they still fit me doing that thing with
my fingers. They're really not fitting me and I'm not
that comfortable. I think a lot of times it comes
down to people not getting more dressed up because it's uncomfortab,
but not because of the clothes themselves, but just simply

(33:02):
because the clothes.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
Aren't fitting all that great.

Speaker 9 (33:04):
I've never experienced that phenomenon of a suit fitting well
and being comfy never in my life ever, not once,
And I mean I would you know, I played basketball
poorly in high school. We had to wear suits on
game days. Hated every second of it. Was the worst
thing ever. So I do just hate dressing up in general.
But I just think on a plane, like, who what

(33:26):
do I care if Jim from Prior Lake, who's snowbirding
down to his place in Arizona.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
What do I care about I'm pressing him?

Speaker 9 (33:33):
And if I'm a flight attendant and I see some
guy full suit and I'm not thinking, Wow, what a
polished individual, I'm thinking what a cycle that he's wearing
a suit instead of just trying to be like.

Speaker 1 (33:45):
Just comfortable in this. You know what we have to
deal with with air travel. Hey, good morning John. Regarding
dressing up for air travel.

Speaker 12 (33:55):
No, I mean, I'm not gonna wear sandals, but I
used to travel a lot. I want to be comfortable.
We got to go to the airport two hours before
the flight. You know, then you're taking a three or
four hour flight, you wear a suit, the thing's wrinkled.
You don't want to show up to a meeting with
a wrinkled suit. That's worse, So no jeans pull over.

(34:17):
I think that's okay.

Speaker 4 (34:19):
You're Another thing is too, is that I remember when
I was flying when I was younger. You know, I
say younger, and I'm going back to like into the
nineteen nineties, really early two thousands, but you know, in
the nineties through two thousand, I seem to recall the
flight's not being nearly as packed as they are now.
It seems like every single time I get on a

(34:40):
flight it is packed. I couldn't tell you the last flight,
but I can recall so many flights, especially for my
rock radio days, of traveling around to different events, where
I'd be traveling home and there'd be.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
Like ten of us on the flight.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
We'd go out somewhere and it would be a surprise
if somebody was actually sitting next to you. And I
could not tell you the last time when I got
on a flight and it was just not completely and
totally packed with people. Have you ever the satisfaction of
realizing that you've got the road to yourself in this
decade is almost next to Santa It's.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
Unbelievable, fantastic.

Speaker 4 (35:19):
The last time that happened for me, I went to
I flew from southern Caltona, uh No, Arizona to Chicago
and it was the was the butt. It was the
MGD Blind Date.

Speaker 1 (35:30):
You probably don't remember this.

Speaker 4 (35:31):
So back in the day they had an event where
it was they would do concerts around the country and
it was sponsored by Miller Genuine Draft and it was
a blind date. You didn't know what band you were
going to see.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
Okay, similar to like Secret Show. Sure, so we went.

Speaker 4 (35:46):
To I flew to Chicago and it was filter and.

Speaker 1 (35:52):
Lit and biscuit. I want to say, keep rolling.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
I was very pleased on the flight back that I
had the entire road to myself because one John Justice
was incredibly hung over at the time and needed that
row down that wrote to himself in a clear path
to the to the to the bathroom on the on
the on the flight.

Speaker 10 (36:13):
Good morning guys. Uh, interesting conversation traveling. It's whom you're
representing and who's paying for the flight. When I had
to fly for the company, I had address appropriately. When
I was on my own time, I dressed accordingly.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
Yeah that makes sense. Yeah, that's fair.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
Good morning, John Brannon from the Land of Rocks and Cows.
I think that Sean Duffy's idea of dressing up to
fly goes back to a quote from Kevin Costner's character
in Bull Durham. If you think classy, you'll be classy.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
And we're going to talk movies a little bit later
on in the show, but that brings up another interesting question.
Tin Cup or Bull Durham. See I go tin Cup?
Have you seen have you seen either? I've seen Durham.
I haven't seen Tin Cup to see I thought it
was overright. You need to see tinkup Bull Durham. Yeah, yeah,
that's why. That's why I'll go with tin Cup.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
All right, more of your talkbacks coming up.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
We are going to switch over to the fraud hearing
that took place in the legislature yesterday. I got a
lot of audio to share with you, and we'll continuing
to take your thoughts on whether or not you want
to dress up, dress classy, or dress comfortably when you're
traveling over the holiday season right here on twin Cday's
News Talk from the Am eleven thirty and one oh
three five FM.
