Speaker 1 (00:10):
Hey, good morning, John, talk about people being giddy about
this family leave. I have a co worker that lives
in Wisconsin but works here in Minnesota, and she's going
on maternity to leave after the cost of the year,
and she said, oh, I get to take twenty weeks
off and get paid for it, and she literally was
so happy. But I also know she's a liberal one
(00:31):
who made the comment. I can't stand Elon Musk. Thank
it a great day, my friend.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Thank you for the comment from the iHeartRadio app. Those
are brought to you by Lindahl Realty. Make sure you
update the app, take advantage of all the new features
that are being added consistently to enhance your listening experience,
and the presets that have been there for a while.
Make Twin City's News Talk number one on your presets.
(00:58):
And there in lies kind of the problem with this
paid fan. We leave, and we have some questions that
are rolling in. I'm marking these down for tomorrow as
we talk about this.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
I have a great.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Question for tomorrow's show, by the way, a fun one
for a Friday, lighten things up a bit.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Well.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
And then I've been watching a gingerbread house baking competition
for the holidays on HBO, and we got into a
debate last night. I'm like, ooh, this will be good
for a Friday show. I'm gonna save it because I
know the moment I asked the question, I'm going to
be inundated with talkbacks, and I'm just I'm not gonna
I really really want to, I really do, but I'm
gonna wait. But one of the problems with pay family leave,
(01:35):
which again we'll get into a more detail tomorrow, is
that people feel like, because this has now been passed
and implemented, that it's perfectly appropriate to go and take it,
and sure it is, it's legal to go and do so,
it doesn't make it right. And the arguments that they
(01:56):
put forward to justify this in the first place are
just ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Again, to reiterate.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Twenty weeks of paid time off that you can take
twenty twenty weeks, it is insane, absolutely insane, and it's
designed to be dismissive. It's designed to tick people off,
like me and you, those that would not go and
(02:23):
take advantage of this, that wouldn't go and put their
employer in that type of risk situation. And it's going
to have an adverse effect if it stays in place
for any length of time. And I know I'm wiping
out on it now, but just let me get through
this and then we'll move back over to to immigration.
If pay family leave does stay in place for a
(02:44):
length of time one just like, just like you've been saying,
I agree, it's going to prove to be fraudulent.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
There's just no way it's going.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
To happen unless DHS wise is up and make sure
that the moment fraud ends up, you know, the red
flags pop up, they stop it. But I have no
fate that that's going to happen. But business is over
a you know, a short enough timeline. They're going to
change their hiring practices. The individuals that this is supposed
(03:11):
to go and help. If an employer has an inkling
that a person is going to go and take advantage
of this, they're not going to get hired.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Why would you do that? Why would you put yourself
at a.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Risk that and listen, that says nothing to the employees
that are already hired, that are going to go and
put their businesses in harm's way through this.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Corning, John, his paid family leave is not only stealing
money from hard working employees and employers who aren't going
to use this paid family leave. But it also has
a huge bureaucratic paper work that you have to fill
out in order to get these funds, and then your
employer has to agree with it. So a lot of
people aren't even going to be accepted, nor are they
going to apply for it, because of the bureaucratic paperwork
(03:56):
they're going to have to do.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
It's just going to be a huge.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
Pot of money for the Democrats to use any way
they want, including fraud.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
And again, it's just it is infuriating to me that
any portion of my paycheck I just is taken, is
going to be taken from me over time that I
am not going to be taking.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
And I wouldn't do that. I mean I wouldn't do
that for a number of reasons. Why. I don't need
that much time off. I don't want that much time off.
I do fine.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
I have my few days off a year. I take
my summer vacation, I got my Christmas vacation coming up.
It's all good. I don't like being away from work
for that long, but I also wouldn't want to put
the company in that kind of danger. Nor would I
want to put myself in that kind of danger by
putting stress on the company, which could then go and
put my job in jeopardy.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
But Democrats don't care about any of that.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
John, I know this has been reported to your show
and this probably won't get on your morning program, but
I'm I watched the local news this morning.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
I'm sorry, and I'm still amazed.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
They spent literally three or four minutes to the Somali
community saying make sure you contact the lawyer. If somebody
knocks on your door. You don't have to answer it.
Not on and on and on and on about how
you know this this is a racial thing and everything.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Else not one.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Yeah, and I know you got cut off there, but
let me just go off of what you of what
you said, think about the world that we would live in,
and let's find if you want to go and do this,
find that that reporting wants to be there. But think
of how different things would be if the media would
go and cover every single aspect of this. Why did
this occur because of fraud?
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Well?
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Why did this occur because of fraud? Well, because seventy
six percent of the fraud here in Minnesota has been
perpetuated by members of the Somali community.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
These are all again, these are all just facts.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Individuals now that are being targeted doing nothing with my
fingers via ICE enforcement are those that are here illegally.
And yet you hear the comment coming from the prominent
Democrats over this just making up all kinds of ridiculous
stories without any evidence. People are being I'll share with
(06:12):
you the audio later on in the hour. People are
being asked for their IDs on the street. Really, what
if that is happening, What are the circumstances specifically surrounding that.
They won't give it to you, They won't show you
the example. They just want to perpetuate the idea that
ICE is just walking around papers please, papers please, papers please?
(06:34):
Or the legal citizens are actually being swept up in
all of this. So here's your immigration headline around up.
We have this one here. Majority of Somali immigrants in
Minnesota are US citizens. Well, listen, If that's the case,
then I guess most Somalis have little to be concerned about.
By the way, why doesn't the opposition to all of
(06:55):
this take that approach? If you detain American citizens, we
the left of Democrats will hold you accountable. Otherwise you're
just wasting your time. Ice because most Somali's here in
Minnesota are legal.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
I know I'm asking way too much. Oh, here's another headline.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Somali Minnesotan's drive economic growth pay sixty seven million taxes annually.
If this was meant to shore up support, I don't
think it's gonna work. Sixty seven million in taxes is
a paltry amount compared to the one to two billion,
maybe six billion that could be saved if the fraud
had ended.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
This one I liked. Fact check Christy Nomes.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Claims that fifty percent of those and immigrated to Minnesota
did so fraudulently. Fact check nomes claims about Somali's in
Minnesota difficult to verify. Ah, but difficult to verify doesn't
mean that it's unverifiable, because it is.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
It's clever the way they go and do that.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Here is Senate candidate and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan posting
another very up close.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
I'm not one to talk in my videos. B that
isn't me.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
She just creeps me out. Another one of her up
closest selfie videos. This one had really dark mood lighting
on it, and I thought the effects was actually, you know,
it worked rather well.
Speaker 6 (08:17):
You know, this vile, racist stream of consciousness from a president,
old man yells at cloud.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
You know what's funny about the visa start over real quick,
because the whole vile race, you know, racist stream of consciousness.
That's all this video is, is a stream of consciousness.
Speaker 6 (08:36):
You know, this vile, racist stream of consciousness from a president.
Old man yells at cloud. You're disgusting and the people
of this country deserve so much better. I just watched
(09:00):
the video of Donald Trump attacking the beautiful Somali community
that calls Minnesota home. They are part of the fabric
of our states. I'm literally going down Lake Street right now,
which is you know, one of the hearts of the
(09:25):
Somali community. These are teachers and nurses and neighbors and
mayors and our friends, and we are going to stand
shoulder to shoulder with our neighbors. And that's just who
(09:48):
we are as Minnesota's and what we're gonna do.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
The hold. Let me just this is just a word
salad with no substance.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
All of the commentary coming from Democrats pushing back on
immigration enforcement in light of the fraud revelations. It's all
the typical feelings and emotions with no substance at all.
They're fabrics of our community. Most of them are Americans.
People are scared. They don't get into any of the
(10:20):
lawful aspects of what is happening here. What Immigrations in
Customs Enforcement is doing is enforcing the law. If any
federal officials local law enforcement, if they ever end up
arresting somebody who shouldn't be arrested, okay, there's means to
go and deal with that. So far, I haven't heard
(10:41):
of that happening from ICE, certainly not here in Minnesota.
As a matter of fact, when you actually get into
the operations of ICE, it turns out that in the
updates from Fox nine that I'll share with you coming
up in a bit, like they went to one restaurant,
nobody was detained. I am going to play some of
(11:03):
your paid family leave talkbacks. A lot of them had
rolled in again. So I want to make sure that
we cover some of this today. I know you guys
want to talk about it, and then we're going to
get back and back into the ICE operations here in Minnesota.
Minneapolis man baby may or mom Jeans Jacob Frye signing
executive order to prohibit city parking lots from being used
for immigration enforcement. And then we'll dive into the next
(11:26):
big fraud issue to drop DHS freezing new home and
community based healthcare licenses for two years as applications exploded
two hundred and eighty three percent, And we'll hop back
into the way back machine play audio from Walls one
year ago saying that it's those very license applications exploding
(11:52):
that may have been where the eighteen billion dollars in
our surplus went. We got a lot of ground to cover.
Don't go anywhere. You're listening to Twin Cities News Talk
Am eleven thirty and one three five FM.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
I'm ready to get beat.
Speaker 7 (12:14):
Good morning John Rich. Here when it comes to that
family paid medical lead, and you've brought up the fact
that how many employers won't hire someone who's going to
take advantage of it, Let's go back to the old
school on a work comp issue. In a construction industry,
you're fired before you hit the ground when.
Speaker 8 (12:32):
You fell off that ladder.
Speaker 7 (12:34):
How many people are going to lose their jobs before
they take this leave or before it.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
Kicks out that's an interesting aspect on this too. Thank
you Rich twin City's news talk. Hey, I'm eleven thirty
one or three five FM worldwide on the iHeartRadio app,
where you can leave talkbacks just like Rich did.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
Brought to you by Lyndahl Realty.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
As we continue the show from the six y five
to one carpet plus Next Day Install studios, let's get
to a few more of your comments on paid family
leave and we'll turn our attention back to the ISA
efforts and the controversy that is erupted around holding people
accountable for being in the country here illegally.
Speaker 9 (13:11):
Hey, good morning guys. Say I used to work at
a job that required three employees to get all the
work done in one day.
Speaker 10 (13:20):
Now one of.
Speaker 9 (13:21):
Those employees decides the state of Minnesota says I can
take off because of my feelings are hurt and I
need time to myself. And all of a sudden, they
have two employees that have to put in how many
more hours, how much more stress? Nobody cares about them.
People should talk about that aspect a little bit more well.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
And one of the things I want to get into
on tomorrow show with Walter, and this may have to
be like a working project moving forward. Is that typically
when you have a business that's put under strain or
constrictions via you know, different legs. I'm being really, really
(14:01):
way too complicated on this. When businesses have to go
and spend money that they don't want to spend, or
they're put in pressure situations that could affect their bottom line,
they typically go and adjust. I'll give you a bad example,
but a bad example would be like payday loan stores.
So there was this movement for the longest time against
(14:23):
payday loan stores, predatory payday loan stores, and the left
would always go and perpetuate this idea. You know, much
like firearms are the problem, autonomous weapons just rubbing around
shooting people. The same thing rang true, and it came
to the arguments relating to what they call predatory lending,
(14:44):
as if these lenders were going out and forcing individuals
to go and take these loans and have to pay
a significant cost because of them. So who a lot
of places went and moved to ban them. Well, you know,
business is not a workaround. So instead of the payday
loan stores, they would work off of title loans because
that wasn't a part of the legislation. So my point is,
I imagine that businesses are going to make adjustments to
(15:05):
impact their bottom line, and it's probably not going to
be a benefit of employee employees. So that's what I'm
going to be curious to see the unintended consequences before
we even get to fraud, of how businesses are going
to ensure that they can maintain their bottom line. And
you may be right, there may be preemptive fire, you know,
(15:28):
firing of individuals before this takes effect, if not because
they believe that those individuals are going to go and
take advantage and exploit this new law by taking twenty
weeks paid off, but because they know this is going
to cost them even before that happens, so they need
to go and make moves.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Now.
Speaker 11 (15:47):
Good morning, guys. Having been in the workforce since the
late seventies, I will tell you with all certainty that
the amount of productivity and work ethic of an average
American employee has fallen precipitously, especially within the past ten years.
And I will tell you that these youngsters coming up
don't care about the company. All they care about is
(16:10):
doing what they can to sit on the butt and
bang on the drum all day period.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
Isn't there a song about that? I don't want to work,
I just want to bang on.
Speaker 8 (16:24):
Sorry, Johnny.
Speaker 12 (16:24):
Here's my prediction. They're going to underestimate the need of
the program, so they're going to double the rates at
which employers and employees have taxed upon them. So they'll
double that tax. Then they'll discover that there's fraud, so
they'll end the program. But at that point we will
be in such a deficit that the hut to raise
our tax is to pay back that deficit.
Speaker 8 (16:45):
Just a prediction.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Yeah, I can see that coming true. Not in a
good way, but I can see that coming true.
Speaker 10 (16:55):
Aye, john Good morning. Say this paid family leave the
thing that the state is forcing upon employees and employers.
Most companies already offer disability insurance that you can take
out of your paycheck as a premium, but you choose
to do that. Isn't this the same thing? Kind of redundant?
(17:16):
And why would you pay for a short and long
term disability? Now have a good day.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
Yeah, No, you're one hundred percent correct. You're absolutely correct.
There's no need for this. Women could already take time off,
people could already take time off for being sick. There
wasn't a huge need or demand whatsoever. This is going
to hurt small businesses and unfortunately it's designed to do
just that.
Speaker 13 (17:41):
Dear Minnesotans, when you sit there and watch your DFL
legislature pass an omnimus bill that takes five pages to
pronounce the single name of it, what the heck do
you think was in that all of this fraud was
baked in and the Somali community was chosen to affect
(18:02):
the fraud because they have a closed community. This was
all designed by the EFL.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
All Right, it's been a while. Let's hear from follow
the show.
Speaker 14 (18:11):
Phil, Hey John Injustice. This is Phil from being Prairie.
So I guess there's Somolies that were born here in
the last thirty years. They have to walk around their
birth certificates. So when they show the Ice folks the
birth certificates, so that means there legal make that makes sense? Injustice?
(18:34):
You have a good day now.
Speaker 13 (18:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
So, first off, it's amazing Phil that you have the
brain function and capacity to leave an iHeartRadio app talkback
based on the level of your vapid and ignorant lines
of questioning like I'm genuinely curious he's not going to answer,
(18:58):
because typically he'll just leave another talkback on something else.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Stupid. Do you really believe that's what's happening here?
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Are you really buying into the narrative that ICE officials
are just randomly stopping people on the street and asking
for their papers. That's not how any of this is working.
ICE already has the names of individuals who may be
here illegally. It's no different than any sort of law
(19:28):
enforcement that goes in issues a warrant on an individual
who may be going and committing a crime. This is
not an immigration's enforcement effort where you have hundreds of
ICE agents or any law enforcement entity descending into a
community and then randomly knocking on doors checking everybody's papers.
(19:49):
I mean, are you really that stupid? I'm curious, do
you just like you? I get the feeling he just
likes to hear.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
His voice.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
If he is that dumb, and then I simply you know,
can't can't help.
Speaker 8 (20:06):
Not all Somalis committed fraud in Minnesota, but all of
the fraud, or at least over ninety percent of it,
or somalies this new Family Weave Act. Not all Minnesotans
will take advantage of the Family Weave Act in the
state of Minnesota, but enough Minnesotans will take advantage of
(20:29):
the Family Weave Act so that it will break the
system and require more taxes. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
No, it's a really good assessment. And thank you for
uh leaving that talk back to sort of wash clean
the commentary from Foe with the show Phil, we'll return
back to this. The editorial board at the Star Tribune
has written one regarding what's happening right now with the
ice raids Minneapolis. Man baby me or mom jeans Jacob
(20:57):
Fry throwing down the gauntlet parking restrictions for ice And
we'll get back to more of your comments.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
From the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
It's all next here on Twinsday's News Talk AM eleven
thirty and one oh three five FM. The best pod
Awake and Up is no Indramala.
Speaker 15 (21:14):
Last to drum with this new Minnesota family leave ax.
Speaker 16 (21:27):
How many illegal how many more illegal aliens will be
hard now to do jobs and take jobs away from
the Europans because I don't think illegal aliens will be
able to get those benefits or hey, who knows this state,
maybe they do well.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
No, I actually think it will go the other way.
I would think.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
That when it comes to the hiring practices of businesses,
you're going to see fewer individuals that would be politically
advantageous for the left or Democrats get hired than otherwise.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
A few more. I know, we got a lot of
comments rolling in.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
I want to spend time talking about this tomorrow, but
I got a couple of great comments regarding the paid
family leave, and then I do want to move back
over to the other issues of the day as we
will talk further about this with our in studio guests
for a Freedom Friday, and especially Walter Hudson State Representative
mort John.
Speaker 17 (22:24):
I'm currently working on a project for a company to
help implement the State lead you into their systems.
Speaker 8 (22:33):
So, in addition to the cost.
Speaker 17 (22:34):
Of the employer and the employee for this, companies also
have to be jumping through hoops in order to make
this work within their systems, and it's increasing the work
when they're hoping it's actually going to decrease it and
it's not going to happen.
Speaker 10 (22:48):
Have a great day.
Speaker 18 (22:50):
Oh you just got married.
Speaker 9 (22:52):
Congratulations.
Speaker 18 (22:54):
Hey, by the way, for some other reason, you're fired
that's what's going to happen.
Speaker 9 (23:01):
Hey, John, good morning.
Speaker 6 (23:04):
As I'm listening to this page family leave debacle, I'm thinking, hmm.
Speaker 13 (23:09):
If I was an HR employee agent.
Speaker 6 (23:12):
For the company or whatever you call them, I think
I'd start be counting and looking at the records.
Speaker 19 (23:18):
Of employees who had multiple stick days.
Speaker 13 (23:21):
During the year.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Yeah, and then I would consider, well, maybe they wouldn't
be working for me anymore.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
All right, let's get back over to immigration. Thank you
all for the talkbacks. I've got a lot of fraud
news to get to as well. We did hear from
follow the show. Phil always get a lot of talkbacks.
When Phil leaves a comment via the iHeartRadio app brought
to you by Lyndall Realty here on Twin City's News Talk,
here's a response to that. As we continue our show
from the SAX five one Carpet Next Day Install Studios.
Speaker 18 (23:54):
I kind of got to give credit to Phil here.
He's got to have a pretty big brain to be
able to watch whatever MSNBC or ABC or whatever he
was watching and listen to this show at the same time.
Speaker 20 (24:09):
ICE targets criminal illegal aliens first, right, that has been
what they were doing if they catch people who are
not criminal illegal aliens, then they check their status. If
they have a deportation order, they are removed from the country,
which means they've already had their hearing. So they are
(24:31):
not pulling people randomly off the street and sending them home.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Learn something, film editorial board at the Star Tribune. Trump's
anti Somali rampage thrust the Minnesota into the national spotlight.
So good morning, a start for you, an editorial board,
Just a quick heads up, we were already in the
(24:58):
national spotlight.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
Where where have you been? We were in the national spotlight.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
Before everything that's transpired this week, and we'll talk more
about that fraud coming up.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
I do want to squeak this one in just briefly.
Speaker 13 (25:14):
Good morning, John.
Speaker 17 (25:16):
I just want to say that I've left a few
talkbacks from the last few months.
Speaker 8 (25:21):
Okay, about eighteen billion dollars going up in smoke, all right,
and it most likely.
Speaker 10 (25:27):
Went all to fraud.
Speaker 13 (25:28):
Okay, you never played it once.
Speaker 15 (25:31):
I was gonna say I was right.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
I mean, we don't know if you're right yet. This
is still just speculation. That being said, I am king
of the talkbacks, the sole decider of what gets played
and what doesn't get played, My guess is.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
Because I do recognize the I do recognize the email here.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
My guess is you may have mentioned that, but first
of all, there's no guarantee that your talkbacks.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
Are going to get plaid.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
But secondly, there was probably something else in your comment
that prevented me from playing it on the air.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
That's my guess.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
I do have my own little set of rules and
criteria that I use when it comes to choosing which
talk box I'm gonna play.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
So if you have left talkbacks.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Relating to that, I'm gonna and I have not played them,
I'm not apologizing, but I'm fairly confident there was a
reason why I didn't. Ice operations reported at South Minneapolis restaurant,
working off the version here from Fox and I and
a manager says that Ice was there Tuesday and Wednesday,
but staff stood up to the federal agents and they
(26:38):
left without detaining anyone. I don't think that Ice left
without detaining anybody because the employees said, no, I know
we're rale illegal, but you will not you shall not pass.
(27:00):
The manager at Ola Aripa in South Minneapolis told Fox
nine that Ice had been in an alley behind the restaurant.
The staff at the restaurant reportedly stood up to Ice
and they ultimately left without detaining anyone. I'm going I'm
just guessing that they didn't have any cause to detain anybody,
(27:21):
so they left, which would really go and pushback on
the narratives that are being perpetuated by Democrats currently regarding
this this issue. Minneapolis man Baby mayor Mom Jeans Jacob
Frye signs an order prohibiting city parking lots from being
(27:43):
used for immigration enforcement. Here are the details courtesy of
Fox nine P.
Speaker 21 (27:51):
Let's start with this what this is really all about.
The mayor signed an executive order today, yes, banning any
kind of immigration enforcement on city on prop like vacant lots,
parking lots, parking garages, the farmers market lot, pretty much
anywhere anything that can be used for some sort of
staging or processing when it comes to immigration. Now, what
(28:12):
this means is that the city will first identify any
properties that are city owned and they'll start making some
signage and they'll basically it will the signage will say
that no local, state or federal government for any kind
of immigration enforcement can use this property, whether it be
for staging or processing. They will also be providing signage
(28:33):
for any private property owners would like signs for their
own lots.
Speaker 8 (28:38):
Now.
Speaker 21 (28:38):
I spoke with the Mayor's office a short while ago.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
These signs are not up just yet.
Speaker 21 (28:43):
However, the surface lots will start seeing these signs going
up tomorrow. Now, Randy, you asked about enforcement. So what
it looks like right now is if there are any
violations of this order, it sounds like the city will go.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
The routes of the courts.
Speaker 21 (28:57):
They will go to the court file for an injunction
for trespassing to try to get the situation to stop.
I asked about Minneapolis police if they could be somehow
involved in any kind of enforcement. Sounds like, according to
the Mayor's office, they could be cited for trespassing by
Minneapolis police. But maybe that wouldn't happen. That doesn't sound
(29:19):
like it would be the route that they would take.
It sounds like the courts would be the way they
would go if somebody decides to violate these size and
this new order that the mayor has just signed today.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Do you think that Ice gives a rip? What is
man baby Mayor Mom Jean's Jacob Frye going to end
up calling a bunch of tow companies, because what would
potentially happen here is that Ice will just go, fine,
We'll stage someplace else, and they probably don't care where
(29:51):
they do that, which means that more likely it'll go
and impede traffic. Although watching some TikTok videos of individuals
who have been traversing down town Minneapolis so currently at
the moment they say it's a ghost town.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
G I wonder why.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
So under this executive order you heard a little bit
there in the story from Fox nine. But in this
executive order, city departments are required to do the following. Okay,
just to recap identify all city owned or city control
parking lots, parking ramps, vacant lots, or garages that could
be used for staging civil immigration enforcement operations post clear
(30:29):
signage stating the space may not be used by any
government entity for these purposes. This property is owned and
or controlled by the City of Minneapolis. The City of
Minneapolis does not authorize this property to be used, and
it may not be used by any federal, state, or
local government entity or personnel as a staging area, processing location,
operations base, or any other similar use of civil immigration
(30:52):
enforcement operations?
Speaker 3 (30:54):
Are we in the upside down? I know that the
stranger that.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
We'd binge watched the first part of Stranger Things of
season five and really like we're in.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
The upside down?
Speaker 2 (31:04):
You have a city that is I know this is
part of the course when it comes to immigration sanctuary policies.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
I get it, But.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
How ludicrous this is needs to be pointed out. Federal
law enforcement conducting lawful business and they're being prevented from
using parking structures. How much money is it going to
cost to produce all this signage? And thanks for continuing,
Jacob Fry to bring awareness to this particular issue, basically
(31:35):
broadcasting that there are a lot of illegal aliens in
the City of Minneapolis and we don't want ICE to
come and take them away. You must immediately report any
violation of the Executive Order design an optimal signage template
for private property owners and leasers who wish to lawfully
(31:55):
restrict civil immigration enforcement activities in non public areas. The
Executektive Order builds on the City of Minneapolis Minneapolis's work
to make sure that Minneapolis is a welcoming place for all,
regardless of immigration status.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
Well, I don't think that it is.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
I'm an individual who is a legal citizen here in
the United States of America, and this doesn't seem very
welcoming to me because I'm concerned about individuals who are
here illegally that may want to go and conduct acts
of crime, you know, things like just pick whatever crime
you want to pick.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
The last portion of this.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
While the city cannot prevent ice from being in Minneapolis,
we will do everything in our power to keep our
community safe. The Minneapolis Police Department is here to protect everyone.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
If there is.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Illegal or dangerous conduct, MPD officers will respond to, assess,
and de escalate any situation that is a threat to
people or property, and ultimately maintain public safety. There is
a lot to unpack in the statement. None of this
makes sense, and all of it contradicts itself. We will
do everything in our power to keep community safe. You're
(33:09):
doing the exact opposite. Holding people accountable for breaking the
law is keeping the community safe. Everything that was in
this piece, in this executive order pushes back against that
MPD is here to protect everyone. I don't think you
are see previous commentary. If there is illegal or dangerous conduct. Well,
(33:30):
what about those that are here in the country illegally?
What are the odds, By the way, just throwing this
out there, I have no evidence, but what are the
odds that after almost losing the election to Omar Fate
(33:53):
in the mayor's race, what are the odds that Minneapolis
man baby mayor Mom Jean's Jacob frye of all of
this going on and the temporary protected status order. After
the City Journal article a few weeks back, what are
the odds that Fry reached out to Trump himself and
asked him to bring illegal alien enforcement here to Minneapolis.
(34:17):
I mean, can you just think about it for a second,
Think about the think about how and the reasons why
Jacob Fry almost lost the election to Omar fat and
why it would be beneficial for him in the future
to actually have individuals who are here illegally removed from Minneapolis.
(34:38):
So can you imagine, Hey, uh, hey, Trump's Fry just listen.
If you want to uh, if you want to come
into this, if you want to bring immigrations and customs
enforcement into the city, you know, go for it. But listen,
I'm gonna speak, I'm gonna speak bad about you. Okay,
when you do this, I may, you know, put forward
(35:01):
some dumb executive order measures to save face. In turn,
you know, go ahead and say bad things about me
as well, and then you know what, we can both
benefit and get what we want. You can appease and
please your base by enforcing the law, and I can
please my base by pushing back on your efforts. And
(35:24):
then we both benefit from removing illegal aliens from the community.
And I may, I may go and restrict I may
go and restrict the ability of Ice to park. But
don't worry. I'll I'll point you guys to plenty of
vacant lots and empty high rise buildings wherein we'll just
ignore those ones, and you can go and have Ice
(35:46):
stage there.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
And remember Trump, you can go ahead and just keep
us between between each other, and.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
Then you can go ahead and talk bad about me
as well. Frether, thank you.
Speaker 9 (35:55):
The mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Fry, is saying that he's
actually proud to have a law just smaly community in
the country and his.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
Police is a fool.
Speaker 22 (36:03):
Well, also have the largest Somalian Look at their nation.
Speaker 13 (36:08):
Look how bad the nation.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
It's not even a nation, it's just.
Speaker 22 (36:11):
A people walking around killing each other. Look, uh, these
Somalians have taken billions of dollars out of our country.
They've taken billions and billions of dollars. They have a representative,
Ilhan Omar, who they say married her brother as a fraud.
She tries to deny it now, but you can't really
(36:33):
deny it because you know it just happened. She shouldn't
be allowed to be a congresswoman. And I'm sure people
are looking at that, and she should be thrown the
hell out of our country and most of those people.
But they have destroyed Minnesota. Okay, Minnesota, you have an
incompetent governor.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
You have a crooked governor.
Speaker 22 (36:49):
He's crooked as hell, but he's incompetent.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
Waltz.
Speaker 22 (36:55):
He should be ashamed. That beautiful land, that beautiful state.
Speaker 8 (36:59):
It's a hell right now.
Speaker 23 (37:02):
I'm no legal expert, but I thought there was something
regarding preemption as far as the FEDS and state local
government where they could use state or local property without
the approval of that jurisdiction.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
But maybe I'm wrong.
Speaker 23 (37:19):
Regardless, if a private business owner, say somebody owns a
parking garage or a lot or something like that, and
wants to allow ICE to use it.
Speaker 3 (37:28):
You think the city's going to retaliate. Johnny brought up
a very good point.
Speaker 24 (37:33):
How much is it going to cost for all these
signs to be made to notify ICE a federal agency,
but they can't be here it was going to make
those signs. Is there going to be a kickback or
we're going to determine that there's fraud with that signage
that was going to be made. All these questions. I
want answers to have a good day.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
So Minneapolis City council Member Jamal Osmond, you might remember
him recently from being carjacked. Okay, so let me start here.
This is from Tuesday. So this was after it was
announced that ICE would be starting operations here in Minneapolis.
And this is City Council Member Jamal Osmond.
Speaker 25 (38:13):
Our community has lived through fear in the past, and
we are not gonna let us divide that. We're going
to stay informed, we're gonna stay safe, and we're gonna
support each other. We will continue to working our partners
on the ground so residents know their rights, they know
(38:36):
where it turned for help, and we know that Minneapolis
will not abandon One of the things I do want
to say, and obviously everyone knows that our president is racist, senaphobic, Islamophobic,
and we are gonna fight that America has a history
(39:01):
of fighting.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
So that was Jamal Osmon Tuesday, and then, according to
this article from Channel five, the Minneapolis City council member
Jamal Osmon is inviting President Donald Trump to the city
to better understand the Somali community.
Speaker 3 (39:16):
Why would you do that?
Speaker 2 (39:17):
You just called them a racist, Islamophobic, xenophobic, horrible, awful person,
but you want him to better understand the community. It's
awfully odd, said he made the invitation during a press
conference yesterday. Osma said his daughters have asked him why us,
adding that no children should feel unsafe because of their skin,
(39:40):
of religion, or of the language of their grandparents.
Speaker 5 (39:44):
Listen.
Speaker 2 (39:44):
If I were Osmond, I'd tell them, well, look, listen,
words can't harm you, and if you're legal, then the
government can't harm you either.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
Senior law enforcement officials.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
Tell NBC News that this operation isn't specificicarly targeting some
all the immigrants and their families, but that they may
be arresting some who have alleged violated violated immigration laws.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
And again I'll add that.
Speaker 2 (40:15):
Why would you go and invite Trump not only after
the comments on Tuesday, but then inviting Trump going on
CNN and making these comments, which is exactly what City
council Member Jamal Osmond did yesterday.
Speaker 19 (40:29):
Growth in this state, they have contributed a lot to
the city INNSA and the City of Minneapolis.
Speaker 21 (40:36):
AH.
Speaker 19 (40:37):
And yes, folks have done, uh, you know, horrible things,
and people have committed crimes, but we should not be
pointing the entire community in one brush and being single
about as follow Americans. There's a justice, there's a of
(41:00):
due process, and I believe those folks have been dealt
with by the state leaders. But now President Donald Trump
singling out and attacking one group of people, and Ice
being on our streets and asking people documentation, it feels
like we are in nineteen thirties, nineteen forties in Germany.
(41:25):
I never thought there would be a time where I
will tell my community to carry their passport around because
you look like Somali, you be you might be stopped
by Ice.
Speaker 3 (41:35):
Hey listen. If that's the case, then prove it.
Speaker 2 (41:38):
Prove that the individuals are being randomly stopped and asked
for papers doing nothing with my fingers again, it's all
feelings and emotions with no substance or without evidence of
these accusations of people being stopped on the street, being
asked for id or legal citizens being kidnapped. You can't
deny the fraud facts. You can't deny the lawful upholding
(42:00):
of the law. Also, have you noticed the absence so
far of Governor Tim Walls weighing in on this immigration
enforcement in the state.
Speaker 3 (42:08):
So far, his silence is rather telling.
Speaker 2 (42:12):
All right, coming up, DHS freezes new home community based
care licenses for two years as applications explode. But what's
interesting about this is the question that's being proposed by
many now in light of this news that broke yesterday,
and that is whether or not Minnesota's record breaking eighteen
(42:32):
billion dollars surplus from twenty twenty three was actually stolen
by fraudsters through the very new home and community based
care licenses in which the applications have exploded that two
hundred and eighty three percent.
Speaker 3 (42:47):
It's all coming up on Twin Cities News Talk
