Speaker 1 (00:08):
Our three Flying Vivie Twin Cities News Talk Am eleven
thirty one oh three five FM. Newly announced gubernatorial candidate
Lisa damonth just left the sixty five to one carpet
plus Next Day Install studios enjoyed that conversation. If you

(00:29):
missed it with a newly announced governor candidate, sure to
check out the podcast Devin and the Master Control Booth.
We'll have that up on the iHeartRadio app shortly after
the show is over today. Remember, if you haven't updated
the iHeartRadio app recently, what are you doing. It's going
to your apps, update them. I'm one of those individuals
that can't have the notifications. I've got to get everything clear,

(00:51):
and that includes in the app store when I have
to update the app. So update the app. They're always
making improvements to enhance your listening enjoyment, and be sure
to take advantage of the preset function on the on
the app as well. So let's do what we've been
doing all morning long. If you're just now joining the show,
let's give you a quick recap on why so many
people are freaking out about last night. You shouldn't be.

(01:13):
None of this is all that surprising. I understand the
concern that people that people have, and I'm concerned as
as well. But I also believe that everything happens for
a reason, and there are opportunities to be gained when
individuals decided to go and throw their support behind you know, communists,

(01:33):
which is essentially what happened yesterday and Zohron mom Donnie's
win for those that missed it earlier this morning.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
After all, the conventional wisdom would tell you that I
am far from the perfect candidate. I am young, despite
my best efforts to grow older. I am Muslim, I
am a democratic Socialists, and most damning of all, I

(02:08):
refuse to apologize for any of this.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
So this is how liberty dies.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
With some nurse applause.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
He could have said anything relating to that in the moment,
and they still would have cheered. I'm a Marxist. They
all would have cheered, I'm a Commie. They would have cheered.
You did have Democrats winning across the board, largely, you know,
sweeping largely as expected the races in New Jersey, Virginia,

(02:47):
New York City. The distance on some of these was
more so than what many people had predicted, but none
of it was all that surprising here in Minneapolis and
Saint Paul, one of the shake up ups co holy
Her being elected as Saint Paul mayor over Carter on
a second round of voting. In ranked choice of voting.

(03:07):
After the first round tally, Jacob Pry leads the Minneapolis
mayoral candidates. However, the tally on the second vote isn't
taking place apparently until later on this afternoon. This is
the ridiculousness of ranked to choice voting and the quick
recap on this. I did this at length in the
first hour because it's really confusing, and it's designed to

(03:28):
be confusing intentionally. This is why Democrats love ranked choice voting.
In Minneapolis, you can rank three different candidates. In Saint Paul,
you can rank as many as six. So you go
for the first ballot, and if the top vote getter
in terms of percentages doesn't get past fifty point one,

(03:54):
then they go to a second vote, wherein the bottom
least percent in terms of votes received candidate gets dropped.
When you have six, you have more to choose from,
and then they go to people's second choices. So omar
Fate would essentially have to absorb the remaining of the
votes for those individuals that ranked him second or third,

(04:18):
they would have to go to him over Jacob Fry
in order for him to win. If that happened, more
than likely, it would mean that Omar Fate would end
up winning the mayor's race in Minneapolis without having the
minority of the votes, which is what makes this so
abundantly stupid. Now, regarding the elections overall, Trumpet said that

(04:39):
Republicans didn't make as many gains as they did because
the shutdown is continuing. I think there's a part of that.
The Democrats tapped into the anger of their base. They
poured millions upon millions of dollars into these races, and
they're all very unique to their individual regions. I want
to share this with you. Senator Mark Wayne Mullen revealed

(05:02):
that Chuck Schumer was holding back room meetings demanding Democrat
senators wait until after the election to go and open
the government back up.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Senate Democrat that said, quote, we feel like now after
the No Kings rally, we are neck is simply in
a guillotine or guillotine, and now they got to wait
until after the election. That last week, Liz, I know
Dick Dick Durbin wanted to break with the Democrats and

(05:32):
reopen the government. Chuck Schumer, in a private meeting with
other Democrats Democrat senators, said that if you'll just wait
till after the election, I'll release the handcuffs. I added
the handcuff partment, basically on paraphrasing what he said. The
reason why is because they're afraid their base wouldn't show
up today in Virginia, New Jersey and in New York.
So it's been about politics. It's never been about policy.

(05:54):
It's been about holding the American people as leverage points,
regardless of the damage they caused to the livelihood of
these individuals. But elections are more important than the Dems
because why they know, their polls is at the very
bottom than it's ever been for the Democrat Party.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Again, that was Senator Mullen on Fox News yesterday. Trump
did say yesterday that the SNAP benefits would not be
distributed until Congress ends the federal government shutdown. So it
will be interesting to see and we have more to
talk about with SNAP here in just a moment on
Twin Cities News talking. It will be interesting that we'll
see what the Democrats do because right now, keeping the

(06:33):
government shutdown is not going to benefit them in any way.
There's no other deadlines or major events coming up to
go and focus on. That being said, they also don't
really have an argument to go and open the back
up right now, seeing that there is evidence that the
shutdown may have benefited them over elections that were more
than likely going to go that way anyways. For me,

(06:56):
all of it underscores what I've been saying on the
show all along, and that is moving forward, there is
no bargaining with Democrats, especially when you look at what
happened in New York City, the fact that they elected
Jay Jones contributing to the assassination culture that exists in
this country. Democrats just didn't even care that he threatened
the lives of political opponents. And on top of that,
this is an example of your base Democrat voter that

(07:20):
Republican candidates are up against Justice.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
Chow from Ian Prairie Man, You guys just continue to
insult Democrats and soult the voters like, we didn't know
who we voted for while we're.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Vote for this person, Why did you vote for Trump?

Speaker 5 (07:33):
Oh? He gave me a stupid red hat in fud Mago.
Yes that sounds get with a program and you guys
ventured puts ham it, live with it.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Those were all elections that were going to go to Democrats,
and in New York City it was Democrats running against Democrats.
But that's what you're up against in terms of your
Democrat voter, which is why there's no reason to engage
with them. There's no to assume any Democrats are ever
going to go and cross over to vote for a Republican.
So go with that mentality heading into next year's election

(08:08):
and focus on generating excitement for the base for an
election where Trump is not going to be on the ballot,
and get as many people voting who can vote as
Republicans as possible from the local level all the way
up to the national races. That needs to be the
singular focus, because you're not going to reason with individuals

(08:30):
like Phil from Eden Prairie follow the show. Phil is
a perfect representation of the average Democrat voter. It's ridiculous,
it's nonsensical, it's hypocritical. There's nothing critical in terms of
the commentary at all. It's just that us versus them.
I voted for Trump because I want secure borders. I

(08:52):
voted for Trump because I want to rein in some
of the waste that's taking place in DC. I voted
for Trump to take care of the fact that the
Democrats went and allowed millions upon millions of individuals to
break the law entering this country and are desperate to
go and turn them into future Democrat voters. I voted
for Trump so that he could do everything in his

(09:14):
power to rid schools of dangerous DEI and critical race theory.
The list goes on and on and on, and just
to add a finer point on Phil's ridiculous assertion there,
I don't even have a red Trump hat. Might is
white and gold. Just want to point that out. A
few more points on the mayoral race. And then speaking

(09:36):
of Snap, are we looking at a new fraud scandal
that's about to erupt over Snap benefits in Minnesota? That
may be the case. Representative Pam Altendorf has discovered a
rather interesting anomaly relating to the Snap benefits and the

(09:59):
increase over the course of the past few years. I'll
bring you details and we'll talk with Liz Collin from
ALFA News when she joins me this morning at eight
thirty here on Twin Cities News Talk at AM eleven
thirty and one on three five FM.

Speaker 6 (10:10):
Good morning, and I love your show, your.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
Radio back to that six five one carpets plus hold
the next day Installs studios. This is Twin Cities News Talk.
Hey Yeah, eleven thirty FM one O three point five
on the free iHeartRadio app. No, it seems like Bill

(10:33):
Oh the show just groups himself.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Harot Tim Walls talking about the stupid red hat.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
The same remark with Tim Walls, me, think of how
easy it would be to be a damn Republican. Oh
what should I wear today? This stupid freaking red hat?
What should I say today? I don't know. Just make
sure it's cruel. Who do we listen to that guy? Oh,
the fella in the White House. Yeah, listen to him
and that will be fine.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
Now he's talking about flags, you're gonna have flag burning
or whatever, because he knows there's a hell of a
lot of flags with his picture.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
On it that are going to get burned. There are.
They have what's called a Trump derangement problem. Have you
heard about that problem? I think I've ever addressed that,
but I always thought it was a weird line from walls.
What what flags have Trump's face on them? I mean,
it's not a think t shirts. What happened in Butler, Pennsylvania,
but not flags. That doesn't really matter. Twin Cities News

(11:29):
Talk Am eleven thirty one oh three five FM from
the sixty five to one Carpet Next Day Install studios.
As we continue our post mortem on last night's elections.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
Gotten you have a good point about the voters coming
to the polls this election. You mentioned a lot of
things that why you voted for Trump. Well, a lot
of souls things are happening. So a lot of Republicans,
a lot of conservatives aren't motivated to get to the
polls because it's going our way. However, the left is

(12:00):
losing left right, of course, they're going to be motivated
to get the polls to hold on to some semblance
of their crappy party.

Speaker 5 (12:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
No, you're absolutely right, Absolutely right. I'll add this to
the list of reasons why I voted for Trump. Here's
Caroline Levitt yesterday during the White House Press briefing.

Speaker 7 (12:17):
And optimistic that the Supreme Court is going to do
the right thing. The importance of this case cannot be overstated.
The president must have the emergency authority to utilize tariffs.
Look at what President Trump has been able to do
with the leverage and the power of tariffs. He's been
able to sign peace deals all over the world and
end global conflicts and literally save lives. He's been able

(12:39):
to bring in trillions of dollars of investments into our country.
In fact, this year alone, we are going to cut
the deficit by six hundred billion dollars, namely because of
the President's effective use of tariffs. And the President strongly
believes that economic security is a matter of national security

(13:00):
and tariffs have a lot to do with that. And
this case is not just about President Trump. It's about
the use of this emergency authorization for tariffs for future
presidents and administrations to come. And we're confident and hopeful
that the Supreme Court will do.

Speaker 8 (13:13):
The right thing.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
So no one won a majority of votes. Just really quick,
We're going to talk with a Liz Collin from Alpha
News on a couple of different issues, including the former
Minneapolis police officer To Tao being released from prison on Monday,
but no One winning the majority of votes in the
mayoral race, delaying the final result until more tabulation is
completed under the city's rank choice voting system. I don't

(13:38):
know why this is taking so long. I don't trust it,
but it is what it is. First round of voting
unofficially Jacob Fry forty two percent, Fate thirty two, Duayne
Davis fourteen, Jazz Hampton ten, So Hampton gets removed. They
retabulate based off of the other choices. The candidates with

(13:58):
the fewest votes eliminated. Voter second choices then apportioned. The
process continues until a candidate has a majority or until
the furthest left Democrat is elected. University of Minnesota student
To Bailey will just leave it at Bailey, a global

(14:22):
political science major, Nicky Town resident, ranked Fry first on
his ballots because of the mayor's approach to crime. Okay
Taylor's dual citizen us and UK hates that people can
to enjoy his home city of London because of crime.
He doesn't want to see the same thing before Minneapolis.

(14:44):
At Bryant Square Park in Uptown, Madeline twenty six, a
nurse at m Health Fairview, said that her health insurance
costs have gone up in the past year and voted
for fate without ranking other candidates in hopes of improving
affordabil It all ties to big business, says Madeline CEOs,

(15:07):
with a lot of money not trickling down to people
that are actually in the hospital workings. So clueless, what
does she expect that Fonte is going to do about
that very issue. He doesn't have that kind of power.
That's not how this works. But this is what motivates

(15:27):
individuals to go and vote for Democrats. Look at all
this free stuff. Here's all these problems. If you elect me,
I will be concerned about them too. I can't fix them,
but I'll be concerned about them with you. Here's all
this free stuff i'll give you. Well, can you actually
give me that free stuff? I don't know. We'll find
out once you elect me into office. It's very akin

(15:48):
to Pelosi, and we have to pass it before we
see what's in it. So there was a bit of
good news. Katie Cashman, who was endorsed by leftist actor
Jane Fonda, lost. Oh, I guess we answered the question
of whether or not Jane Funda's endorsement still carry some weight.
Most young people wouldn't even know Jane Funda is Elizabeth Schaeffer,

(16:09):
who is much more pragmatic focused on hiring more cops
and clearing encampments, did win. That being said, all for
candidates who were endorsed by the Democrats, Socialists of America
won their elections in the Minneapolis City Council. So let's
not all get too excited. Liz Colin from Alpha News
we'll join us next. We'll get to your talk back

(16:30):
of the day, and then we will talk about potential
snap fraud here in Minnesota. Is this going to be
the next big fraud scandal? I'll give you what I
know coming up on Twin Cities News Talk Am eleven
thirty and one three five FM Radio. What's your smart speaker?

(16:51):
Have we ever seen Zoharon, Mom, Donnie and Jimmy Kimmel
in the same room together? They look just like each other,
the same ideologies too. Twin Cities News Talk. John Justice
from the six five to one Carpet Next Day Install
Studios speaking of New York City. Before we talk with

(17:13):
Liz Colin from Alpha News, we do need to get
to your talkback of the day, brought to you by
Mini Leaf, M I N N E l e A
F dot Com.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
I'm leave him today.

Speaker 8 (17:33):
Oh, it's gonna get good. It's gonna get really good
before it gets bad, and then it'll get good again.
Cheer up, have a great day.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
That is your talkback of the Day, brought to you
by Mini Leaf and minieleaf dot Com Liz Colin from Alphinews.
It joins us longtime No talk listz.

Speaker 8 (17:57):
Good morning, Good morning, John, Good to talk to you again.
I don't want it to get worse.

Speaker 6 (18:03):
I don't know. Can we just have things get better?

Speaker 1 (18:08):
I know, I know. It's interesting. I've had a lot
of conversations as of late, obviously with what's been going
on in Minneapolis and the attitude by some individuals who
shall go nameless of you know, that's six one half
a dozen. The other relating to who who ends up
pulling this out between Jacob Fry and Omar Fat and

(18:31):
as as I've been describing it this morning, is it
the jog towards you know, economic you know and more
crime or is it the sprint And there's some that
feel like we should sprint there in order to get
the change. And I see it. I'm still sort of
too much of an optimist. I guessed, and I guess
and don't want Fote to end up winning this. Do

(18:51):
you think he's going to What are you? What are
your what are your people telling? Liz Colin from ALF News, Yeah.

Speaker 6 (18:57):
All of my people do. I have actual people. I'm
waiting for them.

Speaker 8 (19:03):
But no, we've been just talking about it in the newsroom.
I mean, it seems like there's obviously still a chance.
And again, this is the design of the rank choice voting, right,
and they did kind of go in with this plan
on how to rank. It's if we didn't see Jacob
Fry and then the number one slot in the beginning,
that could signal that Omar Ftay still.

Speaker 6 (19:25):
You know, has the votes to take over.

Speaker 8 (19:27):
I think maybe we'll know today, but it's something they
could even drag on until tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
It's ridiculous.

Speaker 6 (19:34):
So we shall see.

Speaker 8 (19:35):
But I honestly feel like we've been on a sprint
these last five years. I don't know, I'm a slow
runner anyway, But.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Yeah, well, I know often news covered I mean this
week alone, let's talk a little bit about this before
we move on to some other stories from Alpha News.
But you know, we had three deadly shooting in as
many days, and this doesn't even include what I was
covering on Friday with the individual that was shot when
somebody was trying to break into his car in front

(20:02):
of his business, right or is that included in this
as well? Are these new.

Speaker 8 (20:06):
Yeah, yeah, that does include it. But there are three
homicides in four days. It is crazy, but we wanted
to take kind of a deep dive of where we
are for the year.

Speaker 6 (20:16):
But so, yeah, we have that.

Speaker 8 (20:17):
Horrific shooting that takes place at the workplace right on
a Thursday morning, a guy interrupting somebody rifling through his car.
He's shot and killed. Then you have the Dinky Town
incident and it sounds like there was a U student
sort of caught in the crossfire and injured in that,
but that was a fatal as well for another young man.

(20:38):
And then the juveniles and that was a Sunday and
that killed one of them, and that a juvenile was
arrested as well.

Speaker 6 (20:47):
So that's three in four days.

Speaker 8 (20:49):
And then it looks like now as of as of now,
it's fifty five homicides in Minneapolis this year.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
But you know, you have a local.

Speaker 8 (21:00):
Media that sais hey, but you know they had sixty
six at this time last year. Well, the real number
to look at is pre George Floyd, and that is
when they had thirty seven homicides through the same period.
So I guess this is now just acceptable to basically
have twice as many people murdered in Minneapolis the world
that we live in, because this is the right side

(21:21):
of history that we told, you know, we were told
that we'd be living in john So and.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
There weren't you know, there weren't good options to really
go and turn things around. I know that people are
trying to look at one one bright spot with that
one council candidate that seemed to be concerned with crime
that beat out the one who typically aligned with the
DSA members, But all of the DSA members got re elected.
So yeah, it looks like we're facing we're facing status quo. Unfortunately.

Speaker 6 (21:49):
Yeah, unfortunate is right.

Speaker 8 (21:52):
But well, we have a lot of election results and
larger stories being posted this morning on ELpH News, including the.

Speaker 6 (22:00):
Un races, school board races. There were some bright.

Speaker 8 (22:03):
Spots there, so we'll continue to have election results there
at alfinows dot org.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
So former Minneapolis police officer Toutao was expected to be
released from prison on Monday. Was he released is he
back home now with his family.

Speaker 6 (22:17):
Yeah, she was really great.

Speaker 8 (22:18):
I was able to speak with him yesterday on the phone.

Speaker 6 (22:23):
You know, even talking to him, I said, it's a
stupid question.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
How are you?

Speaker 6 (22:26):
I don't you know? Where do we? Where do we
start here? But yes, he's he's back home with his family.

Speaker 8 (22:32):
Released on Monday from a federal facility in Kentucky. Just
remind your listeners, he was given many more months than
the then Alexander King and Thomas Lane because he recited
Bible verses and didn't show remorse, and Judge Peter K.
Hill did not like that and basically gave him an

(22:53):
extra year in prison due to that, which which occurred
at his sentencing. So we've been speaking with him and
following the case all of the fall of Minneapolis dot Com.
I don't really know what's next for him. He's on parole,
just like these other guys, are a lifelong felon, and

(23:13):
he though sounds like he's, you know, wanting to fight
and we shall see. You know, we need drastic changes
in leadership in Minnesota. That's probably no secret to any
of your smart listeners either. If anything were to change
to grant these guys a pardon or do something about
their sentences.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Yeah, I was looking at looking at the story Liz
from Alpha News and the quote from him. I've missed birthdays, Christmas.
I don't even know how tall they are anymore, he
said of his children. And difficult to miss parts of
the childhood and never get it back, all because people
want to get promotions, publicity and uh and make money.
And I just I can't even fathom what it must

(23:53):
have been like when he had the additional months placed
on his sentence after k Hill went and did that.
It's still every time, every time we bring it up,
and you bring it up, Liz, I just I just
shake my head. It's just it's it's unbelievable that that happened,
and yet it and yet it did.

Speaker 8 (24:09):
Yeah, and he he talks candidly about you know, but
for Derek being born white, they'd all still be playing
police officers in Minneapolis. But he brings really some some
interesting perspective to all of this, and and uh, you know,
really has spoke spoken out since and I don't think,
you know, we would have known a lot of the
details that these guys weren't willing to just speak out.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
Let's talk about this one exclusive to Alpha News as
Saint Paul mother said that she was stunned to get
an email from a staff member at her daughter's school,
not about grades or even about her behavior, but how
the girl described a staff member's made up scenario of
two boys kissing. Talk about what transpired, and yet just

(24:56):
another blight on our on our education system and what
took place with this daughter and her mother.

Speaker 8 (25:05):
Yeah, I would applaud to these parents for coming forward
and sending us tips about what's happening in the classroom,
because I think many of us would would not know otherwise.
But this is just a bizarre So this happened at
Johnson High School in Saint Paul's. There's a social worker
teaching this woman's sixteen year old daughter and they're sending

(25:26):
up scenarios about relationships, and one of them is a
scenario of two men kissing, and this girl you have
to maybe basically labeled the scenario unhealthy or healthy. The
whole thing is just so strange that this is what's
happening in school, and this girl in turn labels this

(25:47):
unhealthy two men kissing, has a problem with this as
a young girl.

Speaker 6 (25:53):
And so instead of just moving on to the assignment.

Speaker 8 (25:57):
The social worker actually goes and writes a letter home
to basically say that she objected to this labeling and
that this girl is going to alienate her peers if
this is what she thinks about two men kissing, and
she really wants her to, you know, kind of do
well in life, and so send a letter home.

Speaker 6 (26:17):
Can you even imagine? Imagine?

Speaker 8 (26:19):
And this parent then pushes back as for some meetings
with staff and whatnot. This social worker now is no
longer working with her daughter. But then in turn, in
this meeting, there was another school official that basically made
a remark to this parent to say, oh, we actually
have a lot of extreme Christian views, extreme Christian views
in this school as well at Johnson High School. So

(26:42):
she talked to us about that. And this parent had
already gone through great lengths and you know, fill out
the paperwork you can opt out of LGBTQ content, which
takes some bravery sometimes from parents to do this and
just you know, opt your children out. And then they
had opted out anyway, and this took place, and it
resulted in a letter home because of what this this

(27:04):
girl said.

Speaker 6 (27:04):
But it was absolutely bizarre.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
Yeah, what was the social worker trying to accomplish with us. Anyways,
I'm looking at the story and you know, as you mentioned,
Liz Collins, students were expected to identify healthy and unhealthy
traits within the social scenario as part of a lesson
on consent in a relationship. Well, if you're asking their
opinion and you're gonna go with jazz for their opinion,
that's on you, a social worker, lady.

Speaker 6 (27:29):
I just yeah, and that's what this this mom said.

Speaker 8 (27:32):
She's like, why is this even you know, why is
this lesson being taught in the first place. I mean,
there would be a lot of ways of going. Yeah,
a lot a lot of questions, but yeah, you can
read all about that Elvin New's got ard.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
And just lastly, really quick, I know you took the
past few weeks off. You did go to Seapac though.

Speaker 8 (27:51):
It's only gone for two weeks. You make it seem
like I was just, uh, you know, you had asked
to talk.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
To Hank for a while political theater, Liz, It's been
you know, two weeks is a two week is a
long time. I'm just you know, I just I'm trying
to I try to embrace you know how quickly time flies,
and I'm trying to embrace it, and you know you
were missed.

Speaker 6 (28:10):
So I'm just trying to make you think about the
Burger review.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
Is that Well? I wasn't going to today you brought
it up, but I wanted to talk about your your
your wonderful Sea Pack of visit. Did you got to do?
Is was this in DC? Is that where this was
or someblace else? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (28:25):
Yeah it was.

Speaker 8 (28:26):
It was a great, great visit, really great opportunity. It
was a summit organized by Sea Pack, and you heard
a lot about Christian persecution all across the globe. Obviously
we know what's happening.

Speaker 6 (28:37):
In Nigeria, Syria. Sort of a lot of different speakers.

Speaker 8 (28:42):
I was kind of more on the domestic side talking
about anti Christian legislation that was seen in Minnesota. There
was quite a bit to talk about there. But was
able to meet with Sebastian Gorka, who's an advisor for
President Trump. President Trump, interestingly enough, is the very first
president to have a faith office. This was established in
his second presidency. And heard from Jenny Korn, who heads

(29:04):
up that office. That thought was, Hey, do you guys
just all get together and pray every day. There's there's
a lot to be praying about, but there's actually really
an effort by President Trump and his team to do
something about this Christian persecution, whether it is in other
countries or what we see, you know, in the US,
whether it's going after you know, pro life protests. We

(29:27):
saw that under the Biden administration, whatever happened after January sixth,
with the roundup of conservative many conservative Christians, et cetera.
So really a great opportunity and inspiring to see the
work being done on a global scale to protect Christians.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
Liz Colin from ALFA News, thank you so much for
spending some time with us. It's been so long since
you've been on the show, and it's nice to have you.

Speaker 6 (29:53):
I'm gonna be I'm gonna even back next week. You're
going back tomorrow, I mean about John.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
Have a great day, head on over to Alphainus, Todd
orch check it out. Thank you, Liz, we'll talk well,
hopefully not so much distance between the next time we talk.
Thank you so much for joining us.

Speaker 6 (30:10):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
All right, let's a couple things I want to wrap
up on. First off, just because I found it funny,
we're going to talk at link about the snap fraud.
I'm not going to bury it. I'll give you a
few of the details here, but really quick, this story
from Channel five. So construction on the Balloon Line extension
not expected to begin any sooner than twenty twenty seven.
Three point two billion dollar light rail project. Well what

(30:34):
did that get the taxpayers? You see, the county has
spent more than two hundred and six million in taxpayer
dollars already around the new line connecting Minneapolis to Brooklyn Park,
because you know you can't get there now right. In
addition to traditional outreach, public meetings, and social media posts,
Hennepin County also spent thousands of dollars on a dancing robot,

(31:00):
yoga classes, and a life size to puppet equipped with
a video camera to record people who look inside. Dan Sohler,
director of Transit and Mobility for Hennepin County, described the
spending as an effort to develop out of the box ideas,

(31:21):
but the contracts uncovered by Channel five are also prompting
new criticism of the mega project, already under intense scrutiny.
Here's an out of the box idea. You killed the project,
Just stop already just be done with it tomorrow on
the show an emerging fraud scandal, So us DA Secretary

(31:44):
Brook Rollins on the very first day, told every state
of her job, told every state to send their SNAP
data so they could make sure illegal immigrants aren't getting
benefits meant for American families. You had twenty nine states
that agreed stepped up, twenty one blue states refused to
share their SNAP data, and two states two states sued

(32:07):
the federal government for even asking. And guess what. In
the states that cooperated, they already uncovered massive amounts of
fraud now here. In Minnesota, one of the states that
did not offer up their data, Representative Pam Altendorf did
some digging and in that she found that Minnesota SNAP

(32:29):
issuances increased over the course of a few years one
hundred and seventy four percent. Meanwhile, the total recipients only
increased by twenty one percent and the state's population by
one point eight percent. As ak Kamara notes, and he'll
be in on Friday, how much of this is fraud?

(32:50):
Given that we've become the fraud capital in the United States,
nearing an estimated six billion, we'll cover more of this
coming up on tomorrow show. If you missed any portion
of today's show, check out the podcast that's available on
the iHeartRadio app. Thank you to Devin and the Master
Control Booth for joining us this morning. He'll be back
again tomorrow. Thank you for taking part in today's show.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
