(01:01):
let's get to this. She's men, Miss Jack, your mayors,
what's the deal? Excuse me?

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Okay, there I am Okay. So I did tell you
guys about some unsung heroes that are fighting the LA fires.
Over seven hundred prisoners, incarcerated inmates are fighting these fires.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
Now.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
To join the program, inmates must have low security classification
eight years or less remaining on their sentence, no violent
crimes or escape history. And I'll tell you guys more
about how much they actually get paid. But somebody actually
interviewed these incarcerated firefighters.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Listen to this.

Speaker 5 (01:30):
Actually very thankful, like the little opportunity that I got,
you know, to get my record, big sponge, you know,
give me an opportunity or the strong foundation, you know,
so I can advance in life.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
And I have a future and not only me but
for my kids.

Speaker 6 (01:43):
So I got incarcerated, Sally, I didn't really not know
much about firefighting. So once I did become incarcerated, I
actually ended up liking it.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
So yeah, I can actually.

Speaker 6 (01:51):
See myself as a firefighter hopefully once after all, I'll
be going to the Venturi program, graduate.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
From there and then be on Macaw fire. Very cool.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
That's really dope. And like I said, there are some
of the unsung heroes now. It does say in a
twenty eighteen Time investigation, they found that incarcerated firefighters are
four times more likely to suffer injuries and eight times
more likely to be harmed by smoke and to breed
compared to professional fighters.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Or their front line with it. Right.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Yeah, but here's the thing, a lot of people are
calling for these inmate firefighters to get more pay because
right now they're making between five dollars and eighty cents
and ten dollars and twenty four cents per day plus
one dollar per hour during active emergencies. So there's this
kind of like gray lines, like Okay, they're they're incarcerated,
but they're putting their lives on the line to save

(02:38):
everybody else. They are the unsung heroes in this. And
if you guys haven't checked out the video on that video,
it's going to be up on our real night with
your LA Instagram. And that's all I got for the chiefs.

of days ago about there's a curfew going on right
now in LA from six am to four to four am.
I believe that's that's kind of the timeframe of that
that curfew. Anyway, So there were two There was a
man that was outside Bier in between the curfew hours.

(10:16):
He was a luter and he disguised himself as a
firefighter to raid a home in the Malibu area now
La County Sheriff Robert Luna said that the deputy stopped
the man and Robert Luna actually saw this man sitting
on a sitting on the sidewalk, and he thought he
was a firefighter, and he asked him if he was
okay because he was sitting down on the curve. He goes,
I didn't realize that we had him in handcuffs. We

(10:38):
were turning him over to LAPD because he was dressed
like a fireman and he was not one. He caught
burglarizing a home and this is basically the opposite of
what the curve you're supposed to do. So they arrested
him and he is going to serve some jail time.
This is the crime that could result in at least
a year in jail.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
There's a special place in hell for you when you
take advantage of tragedy.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
And that's where he's That's what the LAPD commissioner said.
He's also said he's like, we have people who will
go to all ends to exploit the victims of this tragedy.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
That's crazy.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
More than ten or more than one hundred thousand people
still remain evacuated from multiple disaster zone disaster zones. Because
of these fires, the count of people who have lost
their lives goes up to and run the twenties right now. So, honestly,
you're the biggest jackass if you take advantage of people
in a very vulnerable situation.

Inmates earned between five dollars and eighty cents, between between
five dollars and eighty cents and ten dollars and twenty
four cents per day plus one hour per one dollar
per hour during active emergencies. They're actually more likely to
