Speaker 2 (00:19):
Who am I supposed to want my Hoosiers to play
in the next round of the College Football turn All?
Because it's they play the winner of tonight's game, which
matches Oklahoma hosting the Crimson Tide. So what's the better
matchup for the Hoosiers. That's a good question. No, I
(00:41):
don't really know either.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Man.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Oh, Columbus very good, defensively correct. Yes, yep, they're head coaches.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
You can draw a direct line of Venables their head coach,
of when he left Clemson to when they've started to
kind of struggle and I say struggling quotations. They were
in the playoff a year ago, but not be like
the number one to Clemson that we know, man, is
Alabama more of a brand at this point? Alabama did
not play well in the SEC Championship game. They were
a little wobbly coming down the stretch. So did Calin
(01:12):
de boor write the ship. Are there Michigan distractions with him?
He claims that there are none. Only time will tell.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Davy.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
I don't know, but it's no matter what of the
Rose Bull, it's going to be two big brands, Alabama
and Oklahoma and Indiana, those historical powerhouses. That's what we've
come to, Alabama College football and Indiana University exactly overall team.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
That's what's all about. Okay, So that's tonight. That's there's
three games tomorrow, three first round games tomorrow. Is that correct? Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:42):
Miareing A and m Tulane, Ole Miss and James Madison
at Oregon. I still think there's time for you to
get to the Rose Bul you do, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
I still think you should figure that out. All right, Well,
we'll see what we can do. Grab Bozich, guys, get
an Airbnb. Well he's got I think he's got. He's
still ailing too much. Everybody's getting old, you know. So
he's got knee, no ankle issues.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
If Gerby's brother, if they could break Randy's if they
could take a hammer to Randy's knee to get him
to the Super Bowl in Dallas fifteen years ago, wrong,
Bozitch could get to the Rose Bowl, we got some
breaking news.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
You're no, I'm trying to get re you know, to
the Texas. It it locks you out of the system
and you got to go through the verification code system again.
It's bizarre. I suppose we should start with the Wild.
We better because I know that already the pregame tweet
about guests didn't mention the Wild, and already Falldness was bitter.
(02:41):
It's it's bizarre.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Well, is he, by the way, is he making himself
available for Beyond the Pond this week?
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Because last week on the right, he wasn't even on there.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
The day after the biggest trade in franchise history, he
was nowhere to be found.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
So I didn't even know how he could possibly live
with himself on that regard.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
In all seriousness, I mean, he thinks thrown out a
couple of tweets at us is going to make up
for the fact that literally how long has he been
doing Beyond the Pond? How many boring, just dreadful wild
shows I had to sit through and make us listen.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
To, and then pretending that the team was about to
hear something.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
It's important and the day that the franchise, what's The
opposite of burning to the ground is rising from the ashes,
the metaphorical ashes. Even though they've been playing well the
day that they make a franchise changing move. It's Halvey,
and I love Halvey. We all love Halvey. Shermantown, we
love them. But come on, man, as you would say,
come on man. So we got it done again last night.
(03:32):
You're telling me we keep losing people, but it doesn't matter. Yeah,
and you know what, the standards, the standard they're they're
kind of mucking their way through it. They're down one zero,
and Heinze essentially calls everybody the carpet and says, we're
drawing a line in the sand right now, boys, this
is not what we're going to do tonight in Columbus
against Dean Everison, we got to be better. He didn't
like the compete level. The only time we hear compete
(03:54):
level is in hockey. Hey, we do hear it a lot.
Even though there's no question you could say it in basketball,
you could stay in football. Our compete level wasn't very good,
but they figured it out. Boldy and caprice Off each
had a goal and a couple assists. We kept throwing
in empty netters. Valstad was pretty solid again, twenty seven
saves and the Wild win again another two points. And
(04:16):
now it's a big weekend, right, It's a big, big
weekend with Edmonton on the horizon. Its gonna be fun,
should be pretty cool. We are now third in the
entire league in points. In fact, I think the three
highest point total teams are all in our division. They
are we're third with forty seven forty seven. We are
eighteen three.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
And two in our last twenty three games. That's that's
very good. I mean that, and it's exactly why. On
today tonight's edition of Enough Set regular time on Fox
nine nine thirty, we give the Minnesota Wild their due
for the first time in the history of Enough Set,
we lead the program with Minnesota Wild high. I think
(04:56):
that's an accurate state. I think it is.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
Actually yeah, and alas ever happened before, and we had
to fight. We have to fight for it. It was
they were trying to move some things around. You has
kg eyes and a star in our stars in her eyes.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
I don't know. It's bizarre. It's newsroom group think.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
It is.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
That's that's a good way.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
They all get excited, yes, and then you assume what
we have to lead with that. No, we do not
need to lead with Kevin Garnett. And I'm you're talking
to a child of the nineties here, correct. So if
anybody would have said, yeah, let's do it, it's guardsy.
But the Wild was the no brainer. And hopefully we
continue leading with them because that means that they're playing very,
very well.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
So that's the deal. You can hear the.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
Game against can we can we actually dream of both
the winter teams playing into May?
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Can you imagine what that would be? We've never we've
never had it. That's we've never had it. We've actually
had to work in eight through April and May because
we haven't had all that built in program. But think
about how little we've really had to work the last
two years with just one team getting us into June
basically right Memorial Day weekend. It's been the Wolves.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
We've been able to, you know, just hit on all
of our fun guests and the guys that we love
to talk to the men and women we love to
talk to you about basketball.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Imagine if we were able to do that with hockey too. Tremendous.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
Yeah, we'd have to go to seven. Probably we have
garn weekly. We would, if not even more often than that,
we'd have Russo daily. That's what we do during the postseason,
usually pretty close, so that that's what we know there.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
The Wolves.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Speaking of the Wolves are back in action tonight, a
game you can hear right here on the fan. Somebody
tweeted at us that Sham said Aunt is in I
didn't see him.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Tell me about it.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
Maybe he said it on NBA today or whatever the
show is that he's going to be on on ESPN.
But Anthony Edwards, after missing the last handful of games
with his injury, has been upgraded officially to questionable.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Usually when that.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
Happens, when you're upgraded to questionable, you're going when you're
downgraded to questionable late, like Jalen Clark has been with
this illness that he's got.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
We'll see about him. By the way, does Darius Garland
interest check? Cavaliers are in free sale. A lot of
people say there their backboards too small, They're gonna have
to trace somebody in Garland would be the odd man out.
I gotta think about that. You have to think about
it too. He's not I used to like him a lot.
Now I'm not so sure I like him as much. Well,
And this is where I got to be honest with
the audience. I'm not locked in on league pass with
(07:15):
the Calves very often, that's right. And I know that
they've been good. They were the number one seed last year.
They're not They're not playing at that level at all
lat year.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
It's hard. It's hard to sustain that kind of stuff.
So I have to think about that a little bit.
I would have to as well. But the champs are
in town. They are coming off a game last night,
the Oklahoma City Thunder. Schedule loss for the schedule loss tonight,
but they don't do schedule losses.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
They tend tonight.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
They are immune from schedule losses. And you know they're
going to have something give win last night. I believe
they did some question Yeah, let me so.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
They're only so. They got two losses for the year now.
The second loss was for the Cup in.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
The semi finalemifinal a Cup game against San Antonio David.
They beat the Clippers by twenty one last night in
the form of mess.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Well, yeah, they checked the Clippers. The standings up.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
I can in one click check the Los Angeles Clippers. Yeah,
record right, now six and twenty one, six and twenty one,
they've lost five in a row.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Some people were picking to make a run in the
Western Conference because they're the LA Yeah Clippers, and they've
got Harden and Kawhi, and for most people that's enough,
it's enough. But the Clippers have been this year.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
No one has gotten more press the last seven years, undeservedly,
seldom the Clippers.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Nobody.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
It's just a fact, and they they get They kicked
Paul George out. How's that working out now? That was
supposed to fix all the chemistry? I think they won
a couples.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
The guy they that left them for Miami, he averaged
over twenty points a game for them last year, and
they tried to replace him with Arizona guy who's for
the season, who was with Phoenix last year, Bradley Beal.
Bradley Beal. That was the big move they made. And Beale,
of course was a disaster and then injured and he
shut down. He's done for the rest of the season.
What a shame? Get Why can't I think of the
(08:59):
AI you keep going?
Speaker 4 (09:00):
Speaking of being shut down for the season, Christian darisaw is,
what's the difference that's a question that I'll wow, I mean,
come on, it's not very nice and he had a
serious injury, so I'm not being too critical, but it's
kind of the thing we've been talking about for months,
what's up with derisag you're gonna play as he's not
gonna play. It's a big saga and hopefully and you
(09:20):
can even I think Guessling talked about it accurately, and
Seaffert kind of said the same thing on Tuesday that
you know, Koc, how did he how did he phrase
it the way that chaos is phrasing if you translate
chaos into English? Is he better figure this out next year?
Like that's that's my interpretation of it. Kaos said, it's
(09:43):
quote his personal belief end quote that Deisaw will be
able to resume a normal practice and playing routine next season.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Here's the quote from Koc. Get your Bengo card out.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
This was a collaborative decision based upon where we're at
in the season, from the standpoint of Christian's workload and
what these next games and days are going to look
like for our team. We thought this was the best
decision for Christian in the short term, but at the
same time. I think a lot of this can be
a projection on a really positive outlook for twenty twenty six.
So Daris saw is out, we know Grenard is out,
we know Mattellus is out. Norman Powell, Oh yeah, Norman Powell.
(10:16):
Good player, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Yeah, and it had been really good player for Miami
and the Clippers. Is that they've made some curious decisions.
And of course somebody was asking when the investigation is
going to and on the Kawhi Kawai and Darskit deal.
My guess is that still a ways off, but who knows.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
Yeah, they've got the gambling investigation to worry about. They're
working on expansion. There's a lot of things going on there.
You go, there's your top five at five.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Lovel is going to join in about ten to fifteen minutes,
or soph you have questions or him hit the bratch
on Bryant Cafe and the in box six four six
eight six, that's six four six eighty six. You know
where love is going? Tomorrow? No, I think it's tomorrow.
All is that? Don't tell me it's a good tease?
Is it intriguing? It is intriguing?
Speaker 4 (11:00):
Oh, all right, let's leave with them. Let's cut for
five thirty. We'll let him unveil it. We are sending
him off. We are we are tonight because he is
going somewhere tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Interesting that, I'm sure.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
And let's just say, you're gonna want to know if
he's packing enough underwear.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Huh, that's intriguing. I know nothing about this, but we'll
find out in about fifteen minutes.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Don't go worry.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
I'm worried about our boy, Richard Patino. He had his
first I think it was his first conference game of
the year. The next question, this is hot versus Creighton
duff here.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
Yeah, I went back and watched his press conference after
you told me about the game. Not highly ranked Creton
at this point.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
In fact, I think Richard was favored. Where is he now?
He is not in New Mexico anymore. He's at Xavier
and they lost by more than forty at home. At home.
I give our Patino a full pelf first post game,
he if you ever, if you've ever wanted a head
(12:20):
coach after his team got slaughtered, to take not only
full responsibility, but to repeatedly say, we were you know, humiliated,
we were awful, We were not It was not even close.
There wasn't anything close about it. There was nothing redeeming
about anything we did. He did that, like I think
(12:41):
I watched the whole interview. I think he must have
done it like nine times. He did it pretty much throughout,
So I hope he recovers. On the other side of that,
they're not very good Xavier. Yeah, they're not great. They
beat Cincinnati, which is a big game for them. Yeah,
because it's the crosstown rivalry thing. I don't think they
are outstanding in year zero. Yeah, well, well it, but
(13:05):
I still don't think you expect to lose by forty
at home. No, by any means. I think it was
like forty two. I know are calleven forty one, So
we'll keep an eye on rich Pertina.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
It was funny because the Dean Blevins, one of the
Dean Blevins there, tried to, you know, pump the tires
of one of the players that I think came off
the bench. Yeah, had fourteen points, and Richard was like, well,
there are no positives from tonight.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
There are no positives.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
So I get what you're saying, there are no positives,
but yeah, we need him to keep progressing.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
You know. I'd asked you during the top five at five,
if you're an Indiana fan, who are you rooting for
tonight the game between Oklahoma and Alabama, because the winner
of that game will face Indiana and the Rose Bowl
in the second round of the tournament. And you didn't
really have an answer. I asked Bose, it's the same
question our number one, who's your fan? And he said,
(13:56):
I think Alabama. It's the only way to shut up
the SEC. He's buzz This is one of those individuals
who's just hired of the CC talk. So that's I
guess that's where his vote is. So, well, Oklahoma's in
the SEC, now are they? Yeah, Oh that's a good point.
Well then what I'm pretty sure? Well it is it
because the Alabama blue blood is maybe that historic? Yeah,
(14:20):
and historical. Maybe that's the part of it. KSGP dot
com and I'd gotten a couple of texts about this.
A Metro transit bus apparently involved in a shooting in
North Minneapolis this afternoon. A five I win It's news
photographer captured a bus and a bus shelter, both behind
crime scene tape at forty third and pen also an
(14:44):
apparent bullet hole in the buses window.
Speaker 5 (14:48):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
There have been some reports elsewhere that up up to
three people had been shot in that case, but I
don't think any of that is yet confirmed. If we
get any new information on a story that's sounds extremely troubling,
will attempt to pass that along to you. Bratchewan Bryant
(15:09):
cafean text line is open for Lavelle will join us
next segment at six four six eight six. Where were
we here? Clippers of the Nebraska Cornhuskers of the NBA.
That's an interesting analogy. There might be some truth to that.
(15:31):
The question again is apparently they've already turned down a
bunch of offers for James Harden, which is interesting, which
is interesting in itself. He's ancient, he's dangerous, but I
like this version of him a lot more than the
previous in that he's become a much more healing distributor.
Can you imagine Can you imagine having Harden on the
(15:53):
wing just nailing threes? We don't have anybody can nail
threes like that, Not like that, buddy, Right, there's just
a problem. Yeah, And he's weird in the playoffs, he's weird.
He's you know, he's his track record in the playoffs
as skilled a player as he obviously is not very good,
but he he's reached a point in his career. What
(16:14):
I like about him is he's far more interested willing
to be a facilitator than he once was. That's the thing,
but I have that's another one that I would really
have to be convinced. Yes, I'd have to do a
lot of insighting, and I don't even know if there's
a practical way to get them even if he wanted
to get him if.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
He wanted to get in right, that would scare me
a little bit. I gotta be honest. Now, however, if
you're asking him to be just kind of that shooter
and get to the line a million times a game,
which is good at much to my chagrin, and you're
not counting on him leading the charge, maybe man, i'd
(16:53):
have to know his contract. How long we'd have to
put up with it, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
I never say never with Tim Conley because he's surprises
so many times before, so I don't need old takes
exposed on this one, like when they trade for him
in two weeks that I've just buried the guy.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Well, last night was another one of those good night
nights where old takes could be exposed within like eight
or nine minutes because the football game, Yeah, Donald went
from very good to awful to decent to redeeming down
the stretch where you could you could you could write
whatever you wanted on him, pro or con Sam Darnold
(17:28):
right now. I do think his opposite number outplayed him,
if you go start to finish in that game. But
it was a lot more of a mixed bag and
it ended very well for him as opposed to what
had taken place earlier. Call back to earlier discussion about
the Vikings woeful inability to make the playoffs two straight
(17:51):
years basically since far the far since well, it was
pre far and then back and then far right it
was t Jack the year before. Believe Yeah, that's a
long time Denny Green playoff games. How many differ quarterbacks
of Denny have startering He demonstrated quarterback experience was even
more important than grooming Ponder and McCarthy type qbs. Well,
(18:12):
yes and no. I mean you could argue that Denny
might have had an even greater coaching record here if
he had been able to settle on one quarterback. Now,
ultimately he did with Dante and then Dante got hurt
ask but and he had some defensive issues that also
led to his dismissal. But the truth is he was
(18:35):
And that's where you gotta be careful saying, well, if
you've got a lot of quarterback changes, you can't do it.
Denny did it with a lot of different quarterbacks, right,
I mean he had the first year we made the playoffs.
Is the two quarterbacks were rich Gannon and our guy
Sean Salisbury. Were they not? Sounds right?
Speaker 3 (18:51):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (18:52):
So he and he ends up obviously starting one season
with Brad Johnson, he gets hurt, and in ninety eight
then Randall Cunningham emerged, Right, he becomes the guy who
was the quarterback. Wasn't Jeff George the starter one of
the years we made it and got killed by the Rams.
So the fact is Danny was a good enough coach
(19:14):
that even with musical chairs at quarterback, he still was
able to make it in consecutive years pretty regularly, in
a way that nobody on the Vikings, no coach on
the Vikings, have been able to match ever since. Right,
It's just true. Now the league's different. I get a
lot of things are different, but that's just the fact.
All right, we'll find out what Lavelle's up to. Guards
He says he's got an interesting assignment he's leaving for tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Jalen Clark, by the way out tonight against Oklahoma sticks out.
That has been updated about twenty minutes ten. Nothing new
other than questionable. He is questionable. Okay, I still I'm
guessing he'll probably play.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Let's do this, let's pause and chat with lavel on
a number of different subjects. He's next, Lavelle e Neil
(20:14):
the third. Did you take the SAT heading into college?
I did? I don't think. I think I ended up
taking the ACT. I might have taken both, I don't know.
I bring it up because somebody on X claims that
the SAT reading section has changed a bit, that it
(20:36):
might not be quite as challenging as it once was. Example.
This is from an official college board practice exam that
allegedly would help prepare you for the style of questions
and level of questions on the SAT. You ready see
(20:57):
if you can to answer this one correctly. The following
text is from David Barclay Moore's twenty twenty two novel
holler of the fireflies. The narrator has just arrived at
summer camp, which is far away from his home. This
and here's the quote. This place was different than I
(21:18):
thought it would be. I'd never been somewhere like this before.
I did feel scared but also excited. That's the quote.
Now here's the question. According to the text, how does
the narrator feel about being at summer camp. A he
feels overjoyed. B he feels peaceful. C he feels both
(21:40):
scared and excited. D he feels both angry and jealous.
What's your answer?
Speaker 5 (21:47):
Interesting?
Speaker 2 (21:47):
What's your answer? What's the correct answer?
Speaker 3 (21:49):
ABC or D?
Speaker 2 (21:52):
The answer is yes, No, the answer is C LOVELL.
But I mean, how obvious this is? So the text is,
I'd never been someone like this before. I did feel
scared but also excited. And no, I know that I
know that it's unbelievable. And the answers are he feels overjoyed,
feels peaceful, he feels both scared and excited. Is this
where we're at? That were that literal that we have
(22:15):
so little faith in testing our kids are incoming college freshmen,
that we make the answers that easy. That seems a
bit problematic to me.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
Well, I gotta admit here, I can't remember the questions
there on my SAT. I do remember being sick for
two weeks before the exam, so I wasn't fully prepared
for it. But I got through it, Okay, I know,
I know I got at least four figures, so, but
I can't remember how difficult it was, or how hard
the reading part was, or all the other questions. So
(22:49):
I would imagine those tests would change through over the years.
I wouldn't expect the same test they've tried it out
when I was, you know, seventeen eighteen years old to
be the same now that I'm sick. So, but it's interesting.
It's interesting how they arrive at some of these decisions
as to what should be on these tests, And how
do you measure the mental agilogy of the person taking
(23:13):
a test?
Speaker 2 (23:14):
Just lovely, how excited are you at the prospect of
the region or the Gary Indiana Bears coming to Northwest
Indiana just as soon as they can build a new,
state of the art, multi billion dollar facility.
Speaker 5 (23:39):
Well, the justin the Giants playing New Jersey right, correct,
They're both there teams. This is just taking a crazy twist.
The Bears have done this thing backwards. It's not all
Kevin Warrensbaal. I think the timing of this is weird,
right when you know the Bears are, you know, playing
good football and now about to play the Packers in
(24:00):
like a huge game tomorrow. But I bet I'm guessing
Warren Warren's butt hurt, man. He is butt hurt because
he announced everybody he would have shovels in the ground
on the new stadium before the end of twenty twenty five,
and here we are head into the final week of
twenty twenty five and there's no deal done. So I
think he's that. I don't think he cares about the
timing of the message right now. He just wants to
(24:21):
try to get as much leverage as possible. This is
the old This is the old playbook, man, the old
playbooks for getting a new stadium, you know, put pressure
on lawmakers, find someone to possibly sell the team too,
like the Poe Edge deal with Don Beaver and threaten
to move the team like the police will only be contracted.
(24:41):
But he's out of he's out of players after this one.
But I'm gonna just go back to the beginning it's
all his fault because the Bears purchased all that land
in Arlington Park and he wanted to put the stadium there,
but they bought the damn the damn property without figuring
out what the taxes were going to be on it.
So now they've been trying to get negotiations on how
they're going to be taxed and they've been going nowhere.
(25:03):
Then they asked for two billion dollars in infrastructure costs,
and you know, Illinois that plush for cash right now,
I think they had a different to their picture fromant
a couple of years ago to make them me you know,
I think that the Chicago's broke. I think the Chicago
PUBU school system operating in a deaf and said there's
no money to I think they're still paying off the
(25:24):
renovation of the current stadium, you know. So I for
the Bears to do this and the way they've done it,
they've just taken this step after the midstep, and Warren
is that to come in in a challenging situation, but
he's made a challenging situation even worse. I know, I'm
not ready for them to go to Northwest Indiana, although
that stadium would be probably ten to fifteen minutes from
(25:45):
where I grew up at because my parents regularly went
over the border into northwest Indiana to buy cigarettes because
they were cheaper in Illinois.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
That that stadium would be about five minutes from where
I grew up at. And I know this, I know
if I give us my ideas on available land at
a very cheap price, just to one side of the
Gary National Bank, it's wide open, baby. The rest of
downtown Gary pretty much doesn't exist, and you could clear
(26:13):
all that out and build an unbelievable structure, build other
things around it. It'd be wonderful. And in truth, is
that really that much further away than Arlington Heights from
downtown Chicago. It's just we think of it differently because
it's a different state.
Speaker 5 (26:29):
You're right, you're right. The people from the north northwest
suburbs will be upset, but the people from the south
suburb would love it. People in create Olympia Fields, reached
in Park, you know, Thortin, all those people would love
Palot Heights. They all love that scenario because they could
just take two ninety four around going to Indiana and
you're there, so and the crazy part is Indiana is
(26:52):
willing to do this. All the rhetoric I've seen from
their end is we're ready to bend over backwards and
to move heaven and or make this happen. So stay
tuned here. I still think there's gonna be a way
that a public private partnership will be formed and the
Bears will be playing in the state of Illinois at least,
I'm crossing my fingers of that.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
All right, Guard he tells me, you're leaving on an
assignment tomorrow. I'm very curious about this, and he mentioned
something about packing lots of underwear as well. So what
am I missing here? What have I not heard about?
Speaker 5 (27:27):
It's not an assignment, It's called vacation. So yeah, I'm
shoving off tomorrow. I'm going to We're going on a
cruise for the first time ever. So we're finding that.
We're flying down to Miami and then we're shoving off
Sunday on a on a weak cruise. So I'm going
to check out the Caribbean area, a little bit of
Saint Thomas, a little bit of Saint Martin, and a
(27:50):
stop in Nassau, Bahamas, and then come back. So timon
Coon be better given the current situation with the weather.
It is five degrees yeah during the afternoon here. I
think it's up to ten now, which is a major improvement.
But no, this end of the year, instead of doing Christmas,
we decide to nice to do a cruise. What it's like.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
This will be your first cruise ever.
Speaker 5 (28:11):
First cruise ever, So I don't know what to expect.
I don't know if I should be scheduling day excursions
every per every when we stop at a port. Should
I just go, you know, sightseeing every day, every chance
to get to get off the boat or just hang
out on the boat. I did make sure there's a
cigar in lounge with DRIs and and people will take
a cruise as told me, go to the game shows.
(28:33):
They're hilarious. The meals would be great, get the drink package.
So I've got some good advice.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Usually it's been literally decades since iboned on a cruise,
But what I do remember then, and I think this
still applies, is that most of them have just an
obscene amount of food available to you at each meal,
and it is not unusual to gain twenty to twenty
five pounds on your average cruise.
Speaker 5 (29:03):
Which is scary because I probably need to lose twenty
and twenty five pounds before I gained it. So and
I'm I am going on his cruise on empty stomach,
so I can sample a little bit of everything. Yeah,
and see what see what the boat has to offer
here man. So I'm looking forward to it, you know,
and it should be a good experience. And who knows
(29:23):
if I like. If I like it, I'll probably schedule
another one before I get off the boat for next year.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Did you get a I'm not. I mean, I'm doubting
you got a lunany style. Like when he goes on
a cruise, he gets like a four bedroom bungalow, well
above water with butler, with a butler, and like two balconies,
you know, two linies looking out on the ocean. Are
you above water or are you blow? Do you know
(29:50):
how much money did you try to save?
Speaker 5 (29:53):
I'm above water. I have a balcony. I know that.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
Good for you.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
Yeah, So let's seem they're staying across the hall. So
I think she has a balcony, So she does, so, yeah,
we're ready to go. Yeah, so we have we're above water,
so I'll be looking out over the over the Gulf,
over the ocean, and taking in all the sites. Man,
so I already checked. Now you know the temperature every
(30:19):
day is going to be basically eighty four during the
day and seventy seven at night.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
Will you be hitting Jamaica?
Speaker 5 (30:25):
No, We're not hitting Jamaica this time, not one of
the stops.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
All right, Well, that that's tomorrow, flying out.
Speaker 5 (30:32):
Tomorrow, leaving tomorrow. It's gonna be a challenge because as
soon as I land. We landed in Miami in about
five thirty and then I got to find a place
to watch the Bears Packers game, and then we're spending
Tomorrow night in Miami and then we're hitting getting on
the boat Sunday afternoon.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
We have the latest rating surveys. I saw they very specialized,
and I think our numbers are very good among cruise participants.
So I'm going to ask our audience six four six
eighty six give us your top five cruise tips that
might apply to Lavelle and that he might find useful
(31:10):
as he prepares for his first cruise. Meantime, while we're
waiting for some of those replies to go in, do
you have one already guarding No, I'm just wondering, what
if this is one of those cruises gone wrong and
Lavell ends up on like the Today Show, you know,
talking about how we're stuck in the Bahamas. There was
something going on, or you'd be a great correspondent, Levell.
If something goes wrong. I'm not hoping the plumbing system
(31:32):
doesn't work right, right, some sort of a virus runs
through the entire boat, So we're le virus that happened.
Speaker 5 (31:40):
Was a virus ran through a boat and it wouldn't
let it dock, and it was.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
A stomach virus. Bathrooms, the toilets were backing up. It
was not good, Lavo, it was not good.
Speaker 5 (31:52):
There was about the sanitation on the boat of this
size with all these people on it, So where's its
waist going and how did they get rid of it?
I've been wondering about that. As the day's approach, you
a reporter go find out.
Speaker 4 (32:04):
You didn't have to find out some journalists how many
how many people can be on this boat?
Speaker 2 (32:07):
Is this one of these mega cruisers or there's like
twenty five thousand people?
Speaker 5 (32:11):
Is that it's not small, but it's not the biggest
one either. World Caribbean symphony of the seeds, which isn't it,
Which isn't the smallest boat. It's definitely not as largest.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
Okay that that pretty much will work.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
I'm guessing a few thousand.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
So congratulations. I think you've written one Maya culpa wild
column correct since the big trade and since the team
has surged. Is this real? I mean, do you think
this team? I think we mentioned they've got right now
the third and greatest number of points in the entire league.
(32:50):
They have been ridiculous the last twenty three games, eighteen
to three and two. Is this sustainable?
Speaker 5 (32:58):
Well, the fact that they're when that's for about six
or seven guys banged up, it's really impressive. And they've
had to get run out. They've had to they've had
a UH, they've had to burn the UH, the the
airfare to the Iowa UH bringing guys up to fill
in the rest of the bench and make sure they
got enough healthy bodies to throw out there. And they've
(33:21):
still been winning. You know. Quintin Hughes has been really
sharp upon his return. UH Boting and Caprice off maybe
one of the better one two punches of the NHL.
The goldtending continues to be strong. I had they had
the NFL game up on one TV last night in
a wild up in the other game, and it saw
them fall behind. Dean Evans has been one nothing. It's like, oh,
(33:43):
just where it ends. This is where it ends. And
then I think they came back and scored, and then
they took a lead, and then Columbs can make a tide, right,
I think that was the order of scoring, and then
you know they've got to they got I think an
x U jammed home applause, and they really never look back.
I mean, they're doing everything well. You know, they're taking
(34:04):
advantage of the power play, they're they're playing good defense,
definitely getting good goaltending, and they're getting enough from the
filling guy to keep this thing going. So just imagine
what it's like when you know, Jake Milton gets back
in the fray and Zucarello. You know, Zucker getting healthy
in November was one of the reasons why they started
(34:24):
playing better. And even though he's out for this time,
they've been able to operate at a high level. When
he gets back, you know, and start cooking up with
with the caprice off and learning to play with Hughes.
He could look even better man, So they're rolling. I
do expect Billy g to make one more move. I
think there's gona be one more move he's gonna gonna
(34:46):
make before the deadline in the coming weeks. I know
the man is infatuated. Would have him size and skill.
It seems like when a while do make the postseason,
they never they're never they're always a smaller team, They're
never big enough. I think he'll probably find a guy
with size of can play and provide some score. But
we'll see.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
Here's by the tips are coming in fast and furious
on preparing you for your the cruise that you will
begin over the weekend. Bigger ships produce and average of
over twelve thousand gallons of urine a day. Twelve thousand
gallons of urine a day, another texter writes, as a
(35:27):
coast Guard veteran, I can confirm once you get twenty
five miles off shore, the waste gets pumped into the ocean.
Matt is shocking in from what's got to Rosemount. My
wife and I are big cruise fans, and in recent
years they've cut back in the dining room food. But
if there's something there, he wants more of they always
serve the same food at the buffy buffet. Bring hand sanitizer,
(35:54):
oh good one, Bring portable safe for phone and a wallet,
get share early, don't eat at the dining schedule, eat
at grab and go and get the drink packages as well,
and do plenty of trivia. Uh. This will be enough.
This will be an upbeat message to you.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Dan.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
Will you tell level that on average one to two
people die on a cruise each time one goes out.
I wondered if someone was going to say this and
then they have to keep them down below deck in
a refrigerator. I hope he does die, but there's probably
going to be some old people that do anyway, something
to keep in mind. Thanks. That's Sehn checking in from Well,
(36:39):
just trying to trying to prepare them.
Speaker 5 (36:42):
Did you hear the story about three weeks ago in
your post about the guy who had to drink package
on a World Caribbean cruise and had thirty three drinks,
went Bellugerate, tried to break it to like lines your room.
They tried to, they had, They tried to sedatum, but
the combination of the alcohol and is the days and
ended up killing him.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
Did I miss that strue. Don't be that guy. Maybe
cut that in half.
Speaker 5 (37:05):
Yeah, I'm not gonna do. I'm not gonna do thirty
three drinks on the drink.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
I'm looking at the portable.
Speaker 5 (37:14):
These rooms will come with like little mini things.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
I doubt it. I guess it's possible. That's probably an
extra two thousand dollars though, what the hell bill afterwards?
Speaker 5 (37:27):
I'm about to run out to have to go to
Target tonight.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Get me safe at Target. Just keep it in your pocket.
You'll be fine. I don't know, man, there's pickpockets all
over some of these cruise lines. This ship looks awesome.
Take the stairs and eat and drink all you want.
Stairs is a good idea. Stay away from the elevators.
You can move faster. Has Lavel watched Poop Cruise on Netflix.
There's a show called poop Cruise on Netflix. Is that true?
(37:54):
I think it is?
Speaker 5 (37:55):
Yeah, no way, look that one up. Just nowhere a
poop cruise show in coming. I'll watch it today because
I do have Netflix.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
A couple of people are saying the cruise ships do
have safes, so I don't know if they meet in
each room.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
I assume they do. Yeah, I have seen this show.
All right, I haven't seen the show, but I've seen
it on Netflix.
Speaker 3 (38:14):
Poop Cruise.
Speaker 4 (38:14):
Yes, it chronicles the infamous twenty thirteen what's your Cruise
Line level?
Speaker 2 (38:21):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (38:21):
This was a Carnival Triumph cruise ship disaster where an
engine fire left over four thousand passengers stranded a sea
without power, leading to overflowing toilets, dwindling supplies, and chaotic conditions,
turning the luxury vacation into a nightmare vacation.
Speaker 5 (38:39):
Ooh, her Carnival is like the Walmart of cruise line,
so that what happens, there's a lot of Walmart.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
There's nothing wrong with Walmart, a lot of condescension. Also,
avoid the pools on the ship. They're almost always being
drained and refilled because some adults don't know how to
hold their liquor.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
Man, you know that's the thing. I'm not a pool guy.
I don't swim. I mean, I mean my assistants pregnent
lya out by the pool. I mean I mean chill
with her for a little bit. But once again, I'm
gonna be looking for the level that has the cigar
smoking area on it most of these days. That's where
I got to pack some more cigars.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
You obviously make you know, stops. You gotta make sure
you don't go to the limit on getting back. You
got to builder to get back on the boat. They
can't mess with that because then you got all kinds
of problems.
Speaker 5 (39:35):
No, you're right, but you got to explore.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
You got to be able to explore some of the ports.
All right.
Speaker 5 (39:42):
I guess want to see if I can make it
round the boat once and see all the Apparently there's
an ice rink going to the levels of this boat.
I'm trying to figure out that one.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
An ice rink. Yeah, this is this is an interesting
is that in Wonderland? Go ahead, that's okay, interesting observation.
He's checking in as Triple T from the Hood in Minneapolis.
He says he's got some tips. If the boat goes down,
hog the lifeboat for yourself, and don't let anyone else
(40:12):
come in. Never tip anyone they don't deserve it. But
sure to prepare for a possible life for dek situation,
and learn how to drive the cruise ship just in
case the captain cannot How do you prepare? That's Triple
T from the Hood in Minneapolis.
Speaker 5 (40:32):
Oh my god, he thinking about all the worst things
that can happen on a cruise ship, and why I
want to hog the life wrap. That would be a
lonely existence. I gotta say some people with me. I
got family with me and gotta look after it. Kick
them out of the boat.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
You've got a lot of responsibilities, don't you. You're right
about that. God, I missed that movie. What a great film.
I can't play all thirty so I'm just gonna keep
doing it. The shows in the theater each night are
also typically top notch, very well done. We all enjoy
going every night. So they usually have maybe a you know,
I don't know, comedy act. They might have some motion
pictures or a combination of both. I don't know what
(41:09):
there's like.
Speaker 5 (41:09):
There's like shows and stuff that you can go to.
I guess there's a formal there's a night where there's
like a big gala. What you' sposted like dress up
for And I may mistake and mentioned it to my sister.
Next thing, you know, you know, she's ordering a dress
and so I'm like, really, so now I'm packing like
a sport coat and slax, and I'm like, I really
don't want to get dressed up to go on the boat.
You know, I just want to wear you know, shorts
(41:31):
and a couple of time me bahamas shirts and and
my sunglasses and just kind of chill out, you know.
Speaker 4 (41:37):
Yeah, Rose and her husband were dressed up for the
occasion too, and that didn't turn out very well.
Speaker 3 (41:40):
It's very good point.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
There is there a casino on your ship, I assume
that you'll partake what there is. There's got to be right, there's.
Speaker 5 (41:49):
More than one, I believe, Yeah, Larry mind, I will
definitely pay a visit.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
I'm sure more than one. I'm guessing. Mandela guys checked in.
Speaker 5 (41:59):
He was was wait for Larry.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
He wants to know if you've heard about the cruise
where they ran out of food and the passengers turned
to cannibalism.
Speaker 5 (42:07):
That's not true. That's not true. That was the same
cruise that he wouldn't allow the dock because everybody was sick.
Speaker 2 (42:17):
That's too goo great, that's too good. That's outstanding.
Speaker 4 (42:20):
They really they have a lot of shows, ice skating shows.
Speaker 3 (42:23):
I believe that.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
Yeah, you're right about those places are These cruises are
big time now.
Speaker 5 (42:27):
And I got to say when in twenty eighteen, when
I went and covered the Twins when they played Cleveland
and San Juan. When I was driving around downtown San
Juan and Joe passed a shipyard that had doxs for
these cruise line liners, and I'm looking at these boats, going,
these are the biggest things I've ever seen in my life,
you know, they're like floating cities. Well, I can't believe,
(42:49):
like an aircraft carrier could be much bigger than that,
you know, so it's really remarkable. I'd love to see
the engine room. Yeah, for one hundred and fifty bucks,
they'll take you behind the scenes and for a tour,
which I'm not going to pay for, but I am
kind of curious to see how this thing moves, how
easy it is to navigate.
Speaker 2 (43:05):
I think it was literally four decades ago that I
went on the only cruise in my life, and that's
a long time ago where the ships I'm assuming were
nowhere near as fancy and sophisticated as they are now.
And I loved it. I had a great I enjoyed
the hell out of every every aspect of it, you know,
the stops you made, and this was a Caribbean cruise
(43:27):
as well, so and as I mentioned. I doubt the
cruise ships are anywhere near as good as they are now.
The concern is what we talked about. I mean, if
you just have the bad luck of being on a
cruise where something goes incredibly wrong, then it could obviously
because of the nature of being out in the water
(43:48):
and being stranded, it could turn into the nightmare of
your life. But what are the odds. I mean, there's
there's all kinds of The cruise industry was hurting for
a while, right and then I think, yeah, with a vengeance,
hasn't it yea after novel.
Speaker 4 (44:00):
They have a zipline that's included in your in your fair,
so no reservations required.
Speaker 2 (44:05):
You can just go on the zip.
Speaker 4 (44:06):
Line novel zipline nine nine stories up.
Speaker 5 (44:10):
You can sure a weight limit.
Speaker 4 (44:12):
No, they'll test it. They'll test it. They've got pickleball
Latin dance class.
Speaker 5 (44:18):
I hate that noise.
Speaker 4 (44:20):
Well, I hope your room's not by it. I'm looking
at some balconies that are right by the pickleball courts.
Speaker 5 (44:25):
Why I'll be worried about that. I'm like, my is
like ten, so I don't know what that means or.
Speaker 2 (44:35):
Not what Before we go, let's have one serious answer
to the I guess you could say the the baton
being moved, I guess exchange from one pole act to another.
What it means if anything about the future of your
(44:56):
favorite baseball team under the pole ats, I think it.
Speaker 5 (44:59):
Was, well, if the key's being ripped away from one
pole atic.
Speaker 2 (45:04):
So it sounds like you're right, yeah, yeah, Joe.
Speaker 5 (45:07):
Apparently Joe wasn't too happy about the change in the
leadership there, but it sounded like he got out voted
by the family on this one, so tom'son would take over.
You know, it's rather interesting now because it was twenty
four years ago I was covering the team and Tom
actually was an intern from Mais League Baseball in the
New York office because he had just graduated from Bostic
(45:29):
College and he was the intern, so I thought he
was gonna be the one that's gonna get involved in baseball,
but he ended up going in a different direction after
the internship was over, and Joe ended up being the
one who wanted to work in game day operations and
wanted to work with communications and work with social media
and run the radio station which didn't go well, and
kind of learned about baseball from the ground up. So
(45:51):
it's kind of interesting that now these roles are switching
so twenty four years later. So you know that Joe,
I mean Tom, he kept saying the right things well,
trying to re engage with the fans and get them
on their side again. But you know, the only way
you can do that is by winning. The only way
to win is to invest. And they're not gonna be
(46:12):
deep in efficient at the deep end of the fridge
at pool anytime soon. They gotta wait these guys to
take a step forward. I think the pair's gonna be
around one hundred and twenty million dollars by opening day,
and it probably be one hundred and twenty million dollars
in twenty twenty seven as well, if there's a twenty
twenty seven, because that's the year that there could be
a work stoppage. So this is gonna take a few
(46:34):
years to get it right. And as I wrote in
the paper, my thing is this, by the time, by
the time we get four to five years in this thing,
Baseball's gonna have a new CBA. They're gonna have some
sort of economic change. Either they're going to get a
salary cap, which may lead to armageddon for a year,
or at least a stronger butitary tax or maybe a
(46:55):
second apron like the NBA and try to fortel the spending.
They're gonna get more revenue sharing from local television revenues
and all these teams, and they're gonna bubble and stream
mb games or make money because they're jealous of the NBA,
because the NBA is getting seventy seven billions over the
next eleven years. So baseball's financial landscape is going to
be better, well, one way or another, and next three
(47:17):
to four years and franchise values are going to rise.
And I'm estimating that the Twins are gonna be worth
about three and a half to four billion dollars. And
you can't tell me that if someone offers that that
the family's gonna turn it down. Because the family was
the one that wanted to sell in the first place
before they changed their mind. So obviously they're considering this,
and obviously they're thinking of what could be going coming
(47:38):
down the pike here. Now what does that mean for
the fans? It stinks because there's no sign of them
pushing an a book, making a move or trying to
you know, when they have opportunity to win, to keep
adding on instead of going the other way, which they did,
you know, following the twenty twenty three postseason success. So
they sit twice twins twins, fans, And you've been here
(47:59):
a lot of things that you haven't didn't want to
hear over the last year and a half two years,
and there's gonna be some more short term pain here
before things get better.
Speaker 2 (48:08):
One last cruise question has come in Lovell. Have you
heard about the story of the cruise that was supposed
to be gone for only three hours but they got
stranded on an island for years. Are you familiar with
that particular cruise?
Speaker 5 (48:22):
No, what was the name of the ship? It was
called the Nina Pinto and Santa Maria.
Speaker 2 (48:26):
Which Gilligan's Islands?
Speaker 5 (48:30):
Yeah, I know, I know the Gilligan The Skippers. The
Professor Marianne.
Speaker 4 (48:35):
Ginger Lavelle is not gonna I don't think he's gonna mind.
Speaker 1 (48:39):
No.
Speaker 2 (48:39):
I don't think you'd mind either, would you, Ginger or Marianne.
Speaker 5 (48:43):
No. We've figured out a way to get the most
out of the coconuts weeken harvest, and hopefully it'll be
fishing opportunities in the ocean.
Speaker 2 (48:52):
That's too good in this this has been an all
time show and unusual. And lastly, Quinn Hughes poop, cruise, Ants, Shoes,
Wolves and five have a wonderful journey on the ocean.
Be safe, be sensible, be smart and uh and we'll
(49:17):
talk to you on the other end with we hope
breathless reviews of the time of your life.
Speaker 5 (49:23):
Are you guys working Friday after Christmas?
Speaker 2 (49:26):
I am not.
Speaker 4 (49:27):
Friday after Christmas is the rate ball, so we will
have that. Yeah, twenty six is yeah, it'll be on
in the afternoon here, so there's no.
Speaker 2 (49:34):
There's that on that day unfortunately.
Speaker 5 (49:37):
Okay, well two weeks for now then exactly it.
Speaker 2 (49:40):
That's when we actually I think two weeks from today
is what jan three, the second I'll be working that
you're working. I'm still off then and then I'm back
I think on sermons. But yeah, you can file a
live report. I can't wait after New.
Speaker 5 (49:53):
Year's Where are you going on the trip?
Speaker 1 (49:56):
Me?
Speaker 2 (49:56):
No, well no, I'm actually here Chicago for a little bit,
but then back here anyway, I'm just taking the rest
of the you know, just we can't take the vacation
with you. Lovel as you know.
Speaker 5 (50:07):
Yeah, I'll make sure. I'll make sure I work on
a daily diary, just like have some notes to prepare exactly. Yeah,
because you don't forget to school report when when I'm returning.
Speaker 2 (50:16):
Outstanding, Thanks man'd be good, have fun, all right, take
care Lavelle e Neil the third back in just a minute.
(50:37):
There was a good tip passed along via X for
lovel and I can speak to the importance of this,
even if the cruise I took was like I said,
like forty some years ago. And it's the idea of you,
as soon as you get on the ship, sign up
for your dinner table, if it's a situation in which
they assign those tables. Some boats are different than others. Sure,
(51:00):
And I made an unbelievable rookie mistake for which my
family come about my mom and dad at the time,
and my sisters never forgave me. I happened. I was
coming from Dallas. They were coming from O'Hare. So I
got to the ship first. Oh, I register. I mean,
I get on the ship, which is fine, but then
(51:21):
they say, would you like to sign up for meals?
And because you know, I thought I was a lot
smarter than I really was. I said okay, and I
basically almost let them assign me the table or they said,
how about table such and such? Not sure, you know,
because I didn't know what it meant. And guess what,
as my family found out, it was right next to
(51:44):
the kitchen the table I signed up for. They they
could tell I was a rookie, not prepared. I didn't
know what city I was in. So that's the advantage
of if you want to have a better location where
you're not dealing with waiters every fifteen seconds in out
of the kitchen, stay away from the kitchen.
Speaker 4 (52:02):
So that was why that was bad, because they had
to keep going back and forth.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
That was the at least the UH got it. That
was the story. Update on the Metro Transit story this again.
It's according to KSTP dot com, three passengers on a
Metro Transit bus injured in a shooting North Minneapolis. As
authority search for a subject, I should say for a
suspect press conference, Metro Transit Interim police Chief Joseph Dotsith
(52:30):
said that shortly before three thirty pm, police responded to
thirty sixth Avenue North and penn Avenue North, where a
shooting occurred on a bus. Police arrived and the initial
scene found three victims, all passengers on board the bus.
Victims brought to the hospital. Two of them are believed
(52:51):
to have non threatened life threatening injury. The other victim
is in critical but stable condition. Actively looking for a
suspect as we speak for indication indicates that the suspect
got off the bus and shot into it, injuring the
three people one other. Can you find the follow up
sounder if we still have it? If not, it's no
big deal. This goes back to our discussion yesterday. Your
(53:21):
governor just doesn't get it. He just doesn't. There's no
varnish you could put on his words. I'll read you
the Star Tribune story filed at five point thirty nine
pm today. Governor Walls lashed out at federal prosecutors today
(53:43):
for proclaiming without evidence that the total amount of fraud
in Minnesota social services programs could top nine billion dollars
and speculating. Walls told reporters to extrapolate what that number
is for sensationalism or to make statements about it really
doesn't help us. He's referring to comments made by assistant
US Attorney Joe Thompson. Thompson said federal investigator have uncovered
(54:06):
what he called staggering, industrial scale fraud on a level
unmatched in the US, and he scored in Minnesota officials
for not doing more to protect the public's money. It
is swamping Minnesota and calling to question everything we know
about our state. I think it's fair to say that
our state has not done a good job of minding
these programs. The statements exposed tensions that have been simmering
(54:26):
for months between the governor, who's defending his leadership as
he runs for reelection, and the prosecutor, whos made himself
the face of the investigation into state run programs. Federal
officials are visibly frustrated with the state's failure to protect
taxpayer funds from fraudsters and for not moving quicker to
erect barriers to criminals bent on cheating the system. After
(54:47):
the Feeding our Future scandal erupted in twenty two, twenty
twenty two, that's the story in a nutshell. I don't
know how much extrapolating or projecting that Joe Thompson has done,
but let's be real clear about this. The US Attorney's
office has been far more credible than anybody at the
(55:09):
state level. And the governor can keep trying to change
the subject if he'd like to, if it's if it
works into his political interest is that's that's fine. He
can he can do whatever he wants to do. But
I think, Frankly, the more he fights back this way,
(55:30):
the more it's it sounds like he's trying to change
the subject, and in doing so, frankly, is only reminding it,
reminding every voter or every would be voter, of what
a failed job has looked like by the state of
Minnesota and by people in some cases who are part
of Obviously, he is, after all, the governor of the
(55:52):
of the state of Minnesota. I so it's it's confounding
to me exactly where he thinks he wins here, because
if all along he had been more willing to take
more responsibility and Frankly, had expressed, had articulated what needs
(56:17):
to be expressed by people in leadership about just how
embarrassing this these episodes are, how dangerous they are to
the welfare of the state. When all this money, as
we talked about yesterday, that's supposed to go to people
in need aren't getting near it, then maybe I would
I would give him the benefit of the doubt that
(56:40):
he's trying to make a larger point now on whether
some of these numbers are out of control or that
in this case, the US Attorney assistant the US Attorney
is attempting to do more projecting than is necessary. It's
it's like you're getting into procedural stuff that doesn't acknowledge
the scope of the fraud, even if it ends up
(57:03):
being five billion dollars less than the nine billion dollars
that are being projected here, right, I mean, did the
Titanic still go down? The ship went down? The ship
is going down here and again. You can pound your
chest trying to change the subject this way all you want,
(57:28):
but you're drowning in it, and you're not going to
drown any leg if you're drowned or drown so it
makes absolutely no sense. This office has been easily on
the basis of let's already talk about the number of
individuals that were successfully prosecuted or who pled guilty. This office,
(57:51):
whether it was Andy Lueger or Joe Thompson, they've nailed
this story. They have been the only successful watchdogs to
hold peace people accountable, and to expose or to reveal
all that has gone wrong at the state leadership level,
state leadership level regarding now what's up to? What is
it like? Fourteen different programs? So go ahead, wind away
(58:15):
on while this disease numbers are projected and it's political
grand standing. In the whole bit, the money's the money,
and the money has been stolen over and over again
at the expense. I'm assuming of every US tax I
should say Minnesota taxpayer out there. So have at it. Man,
You go after the only group, only organization that has
(58:38):
seemingly done its job, regardless of political concerns, to get
the bad guys and to hold the bad guys accountable.
I said it yesterday. I mean it. The decent thing
for the governor to do is to drop out of
the race and give another Democrat a chance to actually
save the party. S're represented by American pressure commercial grade
(58:58):
pressure washers since nineteen seventy five. It's the bumper to
bumper show rap. Thank you Levell who joined at to
five thirty. We had a very nice cruise conversation with him.
Ben Gestling at four thirty. Picks were at three thirty
enough said. You're hearing the music right now a regular
time on Fox nine tonight at nine thirty much later,
(59:18):
I think on the Plus fairly sportsy this week with
a little bit about the Rob Reiner tragedy as well
Wolves Thunder tonight in the fan pregame show will start
at eight point fifteen. We've got Vikings programming right after
we're done two minute warning and then Wild Weekly will
follow that. Moscow. I'm told we'll headline and lead off
(59:43):
Beyond the Pond tomorrow morning the World Junior Coach as well.
That is correct. One last thing from the Start Commune
story on walls firing back, here's a quote. What they
didn't tell you yesterday was is that June I was
given the authority to stop we stop payments on housing
stabilization providers in July turn the case over to law
(01:00:04):
enforcement to prosecute they didn't come in here and find
that they didn't come in here and stop payments. Gee,
I wonder why the radar might have been up for
the state to figure out that we might need to
be a little bit more careful stopping those payments. Do
any does they mean their right mind think that their
antenna would have been up if indeed the previous prosecutions
(01:00:26):
and embarrassments had not been revealed. He's I mean, I'll
tell you what, man, I will there be a democrat
or too has the kahones to say, man, you're not
helping the cause here at all. You've had two terms
long terms here. It might be time to give somebody
else a chance, because there's several people I think that
could walk in and do very well. So at godspeed
(01:00:49):
if that's the sword that the tim walls the governor
wants to fall on. But it's not a very persuasive
argument to me. It just comes off as a little
bit more desperate. Enjoy the weekend sermons Sunday morning at
nine
