Speaker 1 (00:02):
Time now for Fantasy Football Weekly from iHeartRadio, your weekly
source for the nation's best fantasy speculation and advice.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Now along with the guys.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
From guiantine leagues dot com, here's your host, Paul Chargian.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Welcome point. Pre addition of Fantasy Football Weekly.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
I am Paul Charchi and my co hosts today are
Scott Fish and Matt Harrison. Hey, hey, guys, great to
be here.

Speaker 5 (00:30):
How's it going.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
What's up? Charge of Fish? Let's go Week two? Let's go.
It's week two.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
Uh might be the last one for my Guanoting League
team with Jacorey Krossky Merritt and Austin Eckler in the
starting lineup. Oh boy, that is gonna be tricky. But hey,
maybe you're in the same spot. We're here to help
you navigate some tough waters. Jayden, maybe you started, Jayden Reid.
If you've got a difficult situation, we are here to help.

(01:00):
We're gonna go through all of the matchups, letter grades
on all the players who matter, will answer three tough questions.
We'll give you nine players upon whom you can take
a chance, and premature speculation. I think we crushed premature
speculation last week. Well, we'll talk about some of the
players you can pick up now that everybody else is
going to be trying to pick up next week. That's

(01:20):
gonna be great and we can dive right into well, okay,
well I mentioned Austin Eckler. I think this might be
a career for Austin Eckler. Amazing career. One of the
greatest undrafted running backs in NFL history.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
If that is the case, tip of the hat.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
For Austin Eckler on a fantastic career and one of
the most vocal proponents of fantasy football among players.

Speaker 5 (01:46):
Yep, yep. He's a really nice guy.

Speaker 6 (01:49):
I got to meet and hang out with him a
little bit in Vegas during s FB Live Vegas or
the same weekend of Vegas. That's that's where he's based
in the offseason. Really really nice guy, doing really good
stuff out there.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
Yeah, and a lot of charity work as well. We
love Austin Eckler, And you know, I hope it's not
the beginning of the end, but usually the Achilles injury
pretty devastating for an older player. Hopefully it doesn't work
out that way. Let's go to our first matchup. Scott
it's Buffalo taking on the Jets. These were two of
the best offenses in Week one, Now facing off against

(02:23):
each other, let's start on the Buffalo side.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
No concerns here For Josh Allen, I assume.

Speaker 6 (02:28):
No, no, that's that's an automatic A. He's been matchup
proof for years. Let's keep moving his wide receiver stell.
I do have C grades on two of them, Kean
Coleman and shik Kahiel Shakir. I'm gonna leave Josh Palmer
on the bench. I don't know if I trust it yet.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (02:44):
Where Kean Coleman is concerned, he gets Sas Gardner, who
for the first time in his career last week shadowed
a wide receiver.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
Yes, how about that, he didn't stay on the side.

Speaker 6 (02:56):
Yeah, he shadowed dk Mtcalffin on all twenty nine under
route allowed one cow yards metcalf went to avoid him
in the slot and got seventy two of his eighty
three yards of the slot avoided.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
So just a se grade on Keon Coleman.

Speaker 6 (03:14):
Hopefully he can move around and avoid Sauce Gardner to
a degree, but he'll probably get peppered with the decent
amount of targets in a high powered offense, so a
C grade there and a grade on Khalil Shakir. The
Jets have been torched in the slot the last year
and a half or so. Michael Carter too used to
be there. He's still their slot guy, but for two

(03:35):
years he was lights out. Last year and in Week
one he's he's a fifty grade PFF type slot receiver.
He has not been good for over a year now.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
He was lit up.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
It's that's that is a great way to put it.
So I'm giving Khalil Shakir, who also had nine targets
in that in that game last week against the Ravens,
I'm giving him a C grade. Dalton Kincaid's gonna get
the B grade here. He got an end zone target,
scored four catches. Decent game. Dawson Knox is questionable for

(04:10):
this game if he doesn't go even more work. Potentially,
the Jets were fifth worst against tight ends last week,
allowing eight for fifty three and a score to tight ends.
Last year they allowed a tight end to score and
for their last final five, so this is trending from
last year on the New York Jets. I'm sorry, James Cook,
I almost left out James Cook. B grade for James Cook.

(04:31):
The last three lead backs to end the year against
the Jets averaged one hundred and one yards, and all
three of them scored last week. Obviously, Jalen Warren scored
as well. You kind of have to combine the three
if you want to get what Cooks can get, which
is they combined the three Steelers running backs, you got
eighty yards. James Cook gets everything for the Buffalo Bills.
In fact, I believe Ray Davis had two touches and

(04:51):
nobody else had any touches. James Cook has had that
hamstring injury, but he's practiced in full with it, so
I have no concerns about him lining up.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Up and playing.

Speaker 6 (05:00):
I got a B grade on him. Over to the
New York Jets side, I'm thrown an A grade on
Justin Fields. I feel like he can do similar to
what Lamar Jackson did last week, which was two hundred
passing yards two scores and seventy and a score rushing.
So two and two passing, seventy in a score rushing.
Maybe he's Lamar Jackson light. Maybe it's not as much

(05:21):
of a shootout as that game was, but even on
the light side. That's still probably an A grade or
a low end A.

Speaker 5 (05:31):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (05:32):
And game script should also be in fields favor, as
I expect the Bills to get in front of the Jets,
unlike the Ravens, where the Bills were where the Ravens
were trailing, or where the Ravens were ahead. The only
wide receiver grade I have is Garrett Well, Garrett Wilson,
he was gonna get. He gets a ton of targets.
We've talked about last week how he's a target hog
in that offense ever since he's been there. He's got

(05:53):
his college teammate throwing him the ball now, and he
gets a shadow coverage from Christian Benford who shadowed him
last year. You know what Wilson did in that shadow
coverage last year? Why do tell eight for one hundred
and seven and a touchdown? Wow? So I'm not too
worried about that shadow coverage. Breese Hall is the only
running back that's getting a B grade for me here.

(06:15):
He's he was really a belcow Allen only got twenty snaps,
only a couple touches. Defensive tackle Ed Oliver is going
to be out in the middle for the Bills with
that ankle injury, so he's going to have even more
room to work. Don't expect one hundred and fifty plus
yards and nine nine yards per carry. That's a ridiculous amount.
But the Bills did allow Derrick Henry to run all

(06:37):
over them, and they were sixth worst against backs a
year ago.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
So I have a B grade on Breeze Hall.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
All right. I thought Breeshall looked really good.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
You know, the whole Jets offense looked better than anybody expected,
I think.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
But seeing Breeze Hall run like he did a few
years ago.

Speaker 6 (06:51):
Yeah, that was That was his high total since late
twenty twenty three.

Speaker 7 (06:57):
Wow, somebody would have highlighted Brice Hall and Garrett Wilson
in their peacock off statements earlier in this preseason.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Oh wait, hold dun, that was you.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
And there you go, do man a peacock and you
know I I would I.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Should take the anti peacock.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
We have eating We have an eating crow sounder somewhere,
but that I was very very nervous right there. That
is that is the sound of me eating crow on
this Jets offense at least through one week.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
That's it.

Speaker 6 (07:26):
I think you can save the crow eating until after
the ETN comes up, too, though, I think we all cant.

Speaker 5 (07:32):
We're all going to.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
Get another guy, another guy who look pretty darn good.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Seattle takes on Pittsburgh Matt the Seattle running game. Oh boy,
this has turned epically thorny right here, as Seattle has
got what appears to be an almost dead even fifty
to fifty deadlock between Zach Sharbonay and Kenneth Walker.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Yeah, it's pretty awkward here.

Speaker 7 (07:56):
Sharboney got fifty nine percent of the snaps, Walker got
the other forty one percent, and touches were thirteen to
twelve in favor of Walker, and strangely, Walker got all
the passing work, but Charboney got the inside the five
carry and scored a touchdown. I think we like both
of these runners as a show, and it's clear that
the Seahawks do too, So I think we're probably just

(08:17):
looking at the dreaded fifty to fifty split here, considering
the Jets were very committed to the ground game against
the Steelers last week and it worked to the tune
of twenty nine total touches one hundred and seventy two
total yards in a score. I think we can fire
up either running back with a C grade here. If
they can cobble together fourteen touches, they'll probably have seaworthy
numbers here.

Speaker 6 (08:40):
Only someone in the preseason would have said Charboneau would
overtake Kenneth Walker all adjacent.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
Oh we do we come out here olden season for Yeah,
Jackson Smith and Jigba and Sam Darnold.

Speaker 7 (08:57):
I'm gonna lump the passing game together and talk about
them as a hole. JSN was targeted on fifty seven
percent of the routes he ran last week. He had
a fifth nine percent target share and an a dot
of a pretty robust thirteen point six yards. Very Now,
if Sam Darnold just threw thirty times a game and
JSN kept to that pace, he'd have three hundred and

(09:19):
one targets a year. And the all time NFL record
for targets in a year was Marvin Harrison Senior in
two thousand and two with two hundred and five targets.
So he'd smashed that by one hundred targets. Basically, that
might not happen, Yeah, probably not. All three of Cooper
cut Cups targets came when he ran from the slot,
and five of Jsn's came from the slot. So the

(09:41):
Steelers played matchups last week and they started having Jalen
Ramsey shadow Garrett Wilson.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Late in the game.

Speaker 7 (09:46):
He had a couple of big plays, but he followed
Garrett Wilson into the slot. Darius Slay and Joey Porter
Junior are the other corners, and they're not what they
used to be. Porter and Slay neither of them had
a great game, and Porter's dealing with a hamstring injury
and he might not go. So with Darnold's track record
in Seattle being only twenty three passes a game, i

(10:06):
gotta put him on the bench. But I'll give jsn
an a grade as he might get all twenty three
passes sent its direction only trusted target cup Tory Horton,
and the rest of the passing game is on the bench.
On the Steelers side, I'll start with Jalen Warren.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
He gets a C in this one.

Speaker 7 (10:26):
Thirty three yards after contact last week with three forced misstackles.
That's pretty good. Warren looked fine, even though his offensive
line didn't do him any favors. He also added two
catches for twenty two yards in a receiving score, and
Kenneth Gainwell was involved a little too much for everybody's liking,
with ten touches that was only three fewer than Warren's thirteen.
The matchup is good enough, though, as the Niners backs

(10:48):
combined for one hundred and two on the ground in
one oh nine through the air last week. But we're
gonna talk a little bit more about this backfield a
bit later in the show. As for the passing game,
I don't want to chase water falls. Aaron Rodgers gets
a C grade off of his four touchdown performance last week.
I still thought he looked like a forty two year
old with his pocket mobility.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
Last week.

Speaker 7 (11:09):
He looked slow, he looked like he didn't want to
get hit, and the Seahawks were one of the few
teams in the league with multiple interceptions last week. I
kind of liked their corner trio of Devin Witherspoon, Tarik Wolan,
and Josh job Although Witherspoon is nursing an injury and
is probably their most consistent corner. He usually mans the slot, though,
so he'll see Kelvin Austin. If Witherspoon gets ruled out,

(11:33):
I'd move Austin up to a C grade.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
But as of now he's on the bench.

Speaker 7 (11:37):
But I'm given a big A grade to Dk Metcalf
in the revenge game. If anyone knows these Seattle corners,
it's Metcalf who figures to match up mostly with Tarik
Wollan on the outside. Woolan allowed three catches for seventy
three yards in a score last week on only four targets,
and correct me if I'm wrong, But Rogers seems like
a guy who likes the revenge and might help his

(12:01):
teammate achieve.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
A big box score in this one.

Speaker 7 (12:05):
Lastly, I'll throw a C grade on John U Johanu.
The Seahawks allowed two tight end touchdowns last week, and
Arthur Smith loves John H. Smith mostly because they have
the same last name and they hung out together in
Tennessee for.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Years and Atlanta for a little while.

Speaker 7 (12:22):
Last week, John Whu had six Aaron Rodgers targets, caught
five of them for fifteen yards, but most importantly a score.
Firemuth only saw three targets. I think John who has
overtaken Friarmuth as the tight end to have in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
I thought Aaron Rodgers played pretty well. You know.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
Yeah, mobility is not his strong suit at this stage,
but I thought he threw well, saw the field, accurate passes.
So yeah, we'll see how that. We'll see how that
plays out. I'm more optimistic about Rogers than you are.
Cleveland takes on Baltimore now for this game. Script suggests
Cleveland's gonna have to pass a lot in this one.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
And I like Joe Flackle.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
We threw forty five times last week, forty five and
we could get similar usage here. The Ravens secondary is
it's talented, but Josh Allen just threw for four hundred
yards and two touchdowns against them, So through sheer volume,
Joe Flacco a B grade in this one. And I
like one of his receivers a lot better than the other,

(13:19):
and it's Cedric Tillman.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
He might be the best receiver on the team. He's
still available in a ton of leagues. Cedric Tillman.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
He ran as many routes and saw as many targets
as Jerry Judy did. And the Ravens cornerbacks play sides,
and anytime Tillman's on the left, he's going to get
to see Jay r Alexander who was awful in his
debut for Baltimore last week. He ranked as the second
worst cornerback in Week one by Pro Football Focus. Oh hoo,

(13:47):
boy gave up a thirty two yard gain in his coverage.
Cedric Tillman, B grade. Boys, go over to the other
side of the of the field where you'll find Jerry Judy. Now, sadly,
you can't talk about Jerry Judy without talking about drops
he led the NFL. Do you guys want to guess,
Scott Matt how many drops Jerry Judy had last year?

Speaker 7 (14:10):
I just said it was league leading twelve. I'll go
thirteen prices right style. Twenty one drops last year by
Jerry Judy. He had two last week.

Speaker 4 (14:24):
One resulted in an interception that probably changed the probably
changed the outcome of the game. So there's that now,
Judy also can we'll be running against Jayry Alexander sometimes
and so he's still playable here. When he's not on
jay Ere's side, it'll be Nate Wigganside, who's not bad,
but he allowed six of seven passes in his coverage

(14:44):
to be completed. Jerry Judy see great, So let's go
to David Joku and Harold Fannon the tight ends. Fannin
splashed in a huge way in his first NFL game.
The two of them combined for ten targets one hundred yards.
Fannin got sorry fifteen targets, ten catches. Fannin had nine targets,

(15:04):
and Joku had six. All the other metrics usage metrics
were very close to each other, and I worry about
them cannibalizing each other. But I've got C grades on
both in Joku and Harold Fannon because Baltimore allowed the
second most fantasy points the tight ends last week ninety
seven total yards and a touchdown. The running game, I
do not like Dylan Samson loved the fact that he

(15:25):
had twenty opportunities in his first start and twelve rushes
eight targets. But they'll get Okay, another quiz time for
Scott and Matt. Dylan Samson's average distance of throw on
passes to Dylan Samson. Let's take guesses. Scott, you want
to go first at a dot?

Speaker 6 (15:44):
For Dylan Samson, I really, I don't even have a
I don't even have a clue on this.

Speaker 5 (15:52):
Three yards, five yards, okay, five yards, Matt.

Speaker 7 (15:55):
I'll go negative one point five negative three and a
half yards average distance a throw to Dylan Samson.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
You can't really recut at any points on eight so
eight yards per catch though.

Speaker 6 (16:11):
Yeah it was good. I was gonna say, that's why
he had what what do you have? Twenty four yards
on eight catches?

Speaker 3 (16:19):
Sixty four yards?

Speaker 5 (16:20):
That's what it was.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
His rushing was bad last week for Dylan Samson and
his ten point underdogs. I worried that there's not gonna
be much rushing to had here. I considered Dylan Samson
a PPR C only and Jerome Ford completely shut down
last week. Baltimore sides a lot easier. Lamar Jackson, Derreck
Henry obvious a grades Zay Flowers with a rare volume
game last week, and that's always been what's held Zay

(16:44):
Flowers back to didn't get the ball enough. But and
last week baltimorely through the ball nineteen times. I mean
so amazing that day Flowers got as much work as
he did. His Flowers got half of the nineteen passes
and he finished with one hundred and forty three yards,
so much better than the rest of the receis on
that team. Browns did, though, just drop the hammer on
Jamar Chase, which I can't imagine they're going to be

(17:06):
able to do again here. But I've still got a
B grade on Jay Flowers. He'll get some extra reps
from the slot he can avoid Denzel Ward, find easier
targets like cornerback Miles Harden who's only seen eleven targets
in his NFL career. Zay Flowers with a nice opportunity.
And the only other Raven to talk about is Mark
Andrews disaster last week and Isaiah likely is practicing and

(17:30):
probably plays in this game.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
Yeah, so this is this is really tough.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
I The good news is Andrews was on the field
for seventy five percent of the snaps, but that was
without likely And the bad news is the Ravens just
don't pass that much.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
So basically his touchdown dependent for Mark Andrews.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
The Browns did give up a touchdown to Noah Fen
last week, and Andrews scored in both Cleveland matchups last year.
So there's your ray of hope and a C grade
on Mark Andrews, but there is a ton of risk
with him that way. All right, let's take a break,
would we come back, take a chance on me. Nine
players that are not normally in your starting lineup.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
But should be this week. Find out who they are.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
Would we come back to Fantasy Football Weekly. Take a

(19:19):
chance on me nine players you would not normally start.
Many of these players available on the waiver wire.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
Maybe have injury issues.

Speaker 4 (19:27):
Maybe you did not draft perfectly and you need to
find some help. We're gonna give you three quarterbacks, three
running backs, and three receivers, beginning at the quarterback position.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
And Scott Fish who you got?

Speaker 5 (19:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (19:39):
Or maybe you picked this guy up last week when
he was your art Take a chance on me a
player and he didn't work out, he's still on your bench.

Speaker 5 (19:45):
I'm gonna tell.

Speaker 6 (19:46):
You put to a tunge i looa to a turn
the ball back into your lineup this week.

Speaker 5 (19:53):
I know it's really bold.

Speaker 6 (19:54):
It's tough to do after what he did last week,
but he gets a new England defense that just allowed
three hundred and sixty two yards to Ginos to Gino
Smith and Christian Gonzalez is gonna miss this game. Mike
McDaniel will want to bounce back at home for Miami.
The Patriots allowed pass plays of twenty plus yards nine

(20:14):
times last week.

Speaker 5 (20:15):
Nine times nine passing.

Speaker 6 (20:18):
Plays over twenty yards carry Myers for going down in
nineteen yards to make sure nine times. Two had three
hundred plus yards in three of his final five last
last year. And the Dolphins also always seemed to play
better at home versus New England.

Speaker 5 (20:32):
So put two back in there. I know it's bold,
but you should do it.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
That goes back to the Belichick era right there. Dolphins
always played Belichick harder than anybody expected.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
Matt, you're taking chance on me quarterback.

Speaker 7 (20:43):
I've got Mac Jones because brock Party was downgraded to
doubtful with a turf toe variant injury and reports say
that he's going to probably miss a few weeks. Center
Michael mccorkyl Jones, who I totally forgot, started eight games
last year for the painful games. Yes, what's good about
Mac Jones. He's generally pretty accurate. He's been slightly above

(21:04):
sixty five percent completion percentage on his career. What's better,
This is the best situation offensively Mack has ever been
a part of.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
And it's not even close.

Speaker 7 (21:13):
Kyle Shanahan system with Christian McCaffrey, a pretty decent O line,
a handful of above average receivers and a soft landing
spot against the Saints. Six of the last seven quarterbacks
who face the Saints have thrown at least two touchdown
passes a game. Wow, and in those seven games, the
Saints only registered two total interceptions.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
I like your contrarian angle.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
I am going with the aforementioned Gino Smith taking on
the Chargers. Scott told you about the three hundred sixty
two yards last week, second only to Josh Allen, and
Vegas suddenly has got like a plethora of publausible receivers
even with brock Bauers not expected to play a lot
of options.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
The chargers rebuilt secondary.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
Looks out out the middle of the pack to me,
and I love the individual matchups for Kobe Myers and
Trey Tucker, and I'm gonna tell you about those later
in the show. The Chargers have shut out just one
of their last eleven opposing quarterbacks. Gino Smith's gonna get
you at least one and probably more touchdowns this week.
Let's go to the running back position, Scott, who you got.

Speaker 6 (22:17):
I'm going with Trey Benson, and it's not because I
think he's truly gonna really work into James Connor's workload.
I watched that game. He got one play in the
first quarter spelling Connor. He got a couple on the
next drive, spelling Connor basically no yards. He had that
huge fifty two yarder, and then after that he had
one series in the fourth where he was like three

(22:40):
carries for eight yards. It's not like he's taking over
that role, like a splitting of the job, but he
does spell Connor. Now he's taken all of Amaro Dermarcado
Amar de Marcado's passing snaps from last year, so he's
playing in the passing game and the Cardinals are almost
touchdown favorites here. There should be a good amount of
workload for him to not just spell Connor, but maybe

(23:02):
play at the end of the game where he was
successful last year.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
I always have a lost spelling Connor. Yeah, r E
R R. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (23:11):
It's really tough. One end, two ends, three ends. I mean,
you know, it could go could go any direction again too,
Like that's Connor Connor on our like a like a joke.
We we do need a piratey addition a Fantasy Football weekly.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Matt, You're take a chance to be running back I've.

Speaker 7 (23:29):
Got Nick Chubb versus the Buccaneers.

Speaker 3 (23:35):
That worked out pretty well.

Speaker 7 (23:36):
Let's sell it the fact that the Bucks defense gave
up one hundred and forty eight total yards and a
score to the Falcons running back tandem last week. But Matt,
that was bijon and Nick Chubb is old and slow,
not so fat, and actually Nick Chubb may still be fast.
Nick Chubb was fourth in PFF's Elusive rating last week

(24:00):
and created a league high five forced misstackles on all
that attempts to play well of the Texans is shaky
at best. So in order to keep the Bucks on
their toes, they're probably gonna need to run the ball
a lot in this one. So I'll fire up some
Nick Chubb. I was gonna give him a B grade
this week, a double B grade.

Speaker 4 (24:18):
I hope you're right, because Nick Chubb, it's great to
see Nick Chubb running well again like he did last week.
Why the Texans offensive line is gonna be missing their
starting center?

Speaker 3 (24:28):
That worries me in this game? And it is.

Speaker 4 (24:30):
It is a good Bucks run defense, but still I'm
kind of listening a little bit to what you're saying
there on Chubb. I'm going with through Andre Stevenson going
up against Miami, which is part of it. In Week one,
Stevenson had double the snaps of Trayvon Henderson, had two
more carries and even had three targets. I think a
lot of people thought once Henderson got there, Stevenson wouldn't
get three targets all year. He got him in Week one,

(24:53):
and surprisingly Stevenson had twice as many snaps in long
down and distance. So really every situation Stevenson was on
the field now, it only ended up totally twenty seven
yards last week. So I you know, I'm putting lipstick
on a pig a little bit, But here comes Miami.

Speaker 3 (25:09):
That is your pig.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
Is Miami Dolphins ranked thirty first in tackling by Pro
Football Focus in week number one, and the Colts just
ram the ball forty times against the Dolphins, one hundred
and fifty six rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns against Miami.
All right, let's go to our wide receivers, Scott and

(25:32):
or tight ends Scott.

Speaker 6 (25:34):
Yeah good, I'm glad you added that, because I'm taking
the tight end in Brenton's strange tight end for the
Jacksonville Jaguars. It's getting hard not to recognize the four
for fifty nine he had last week and all this
he had three or four really decent days when Evan
Ingram missed time last year. He's really starting to feel
like a matchup play and this is a good matchup.

(25:54):
Last week, the Browns tight ends went ten catches for
one hundred yards on the Bengals, and a year ago
the be were the worst team against tight ends out
allowing the most receptions, second most scords, and third most yards.
It clearly carried over into this year. Good matchup for
Brenton Strange.

Speaker 4 (26:12):
You talk, man, I'm moving Brenton Strange up my rankings
right now. I like the sound of that. Matt, You'll
take a chance on your receiver.

Speaker 7 (26:19):
It's Wandale Robinson, the wide receiver for the Giants. He's
playing against the Dallas Cowboys this week. It's worth noting
he was limited in practiced this week with an ankle injury,
but did participate Thursday and Friday, So he's only rostered
on twenty six percent of sleeper leagues right now, and
listen to these numbers. Malik Neighbors was targeted thirteen times
last week. Wandale was targeted eight and the rest of

(26:41):
the wide receivers combined from one target right. So it's
Wandale who led their Giants in receptions last week with
six too. He's clearly the second option in that offense,
and that offense needs to get going. By the way,
he plays the slot most of the time. Cowboys slot
corner Deron Bland, he's out, somebody's gonna take a spot.

(27:03):
Guess who it is? Ready Stewart, who is a guy
I totally did not make up Ready Stewart. He's a
second year player on his third NFL team with a
total of eleven snaps in his career.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
Wow, this is a great I love this angle. That
is a that is a nice play receptions, especially Wandell
Robinson could be sitting on eight an eight reception game.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
I love that. Nice job.

Speaker 4 (27:30):
I am going with Chargers wide receiver Quinn Johnson.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
I know, like Johnson, where were you know? Where was
this last week?

Speaker 4 (27:36):
Which is totally fair, by the way, where was this
last week? But he had such a promising Week one
He ran as many or more snaps and routes as
Lad McConkie and Keenan Allen and get this, no drops
no drops in a whole game for Quentin Johnson. Johnston
already has notched two end zone targets in the first week,

(27:57):
scored twice, and Las vegas rebuilt secondary looks like hot garbage. Matt,
this one is for you. The Raiders best ranked cornerback,
best ranked cornerback. Somebody called Kayu blue Kelly.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
You made that.

Speaker 6 (28:15):
Now up for sure it isn't. He isn't because I
mentioned him last week on the show.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
I know the cornerbacks are not real people.

Speaker 4 (28:25):
Yes, Now, to be clear, Kyu Blue Kelly is not
two people and there's no verbs involved in that. That
is all one person's name. The three starting Pro Football
Focus ranked cornerbacks for Las Vegas ranked thirty seventh, eighty eighth,
and one hundred and ninth. So Quentin Johnston is our
final I need a take shirt that says cornerbacks aren't real.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
You made that up. You made that up. Let's work
in one more matchup.

Speaker 4 (28:53):
Jacksonville taking on Cincinnati Scott for the Jaguars. A pretty
inauspicious start, and I'm really into in, uh your thoughts
about the running game.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
Now the tank Bigsby's gone, I.

Speaker 5 (29:05):
Mean we can start there.

Speaker 6 (29:06):
I have a B grade on s travesty An even
with El Bigsby. He I mean there were come on,
there were rumors of trading Bigsby ETN for a while,
and then it was Biggsby for a while, and it
turned out.

Speaker 5 (29:17):
To be bigs Uh.

Speaker 6 (29:19):
Etn led all run led all running backs in rushing
yards over expectation per attempt last week and second in
yards per carry behind Derreck, Henry h Lequent Allen and
base Shall. Teuton are going to get a slight bump,
but really like Allen's the password guy and Touton's more
of the runner, and they're really just small, tiny backup roles.

(29:39):
We all kind of really missed that He's he looks
a lot like that same running back that was RB
three in twenty twenty three. Yes, and maybe him beat
on the injury report for almost every game last year
was legitimately a factor. So so now we know he
pops up at an injury report later this year, we
know that he has bail.

Speaker 5 (29:59):
Bail.

Speaker 4 (30:00):
Yeah, ETN went with when Etn's cooking, he just glides.
You know, the speed is there when he you know,
when he is playing well, which hasn't been often, he
does look like a difference maker in that offense, and
I can understand why he was the workhorse.

Speaker 5 (30:14):
Back yeah last year.

Speaker 6 (30:16):
Last year, the at the end of the last year,
his the etn's opponent. The Bengals allowed a decent amount
of not just Russian work, but receiving yards to backs
over the second half ETN can receive the ball. In
Week one, they only allowed two yards per carry twenty
one for forty. So I'm only giving ETN the B
grade here just because the matchup. It seems like they're

(30:38):
pretty good last week, and there was you know, middle
of the pack last year. In the passing game, I
have a C grade on Trevor Lawrence, who threw for
less than two hundred yards last week, But the Bengals
just gave up two hundred and ninety to Joe Flacco
and ended the year last year with six multi score
games in their final eight. They were sixth worst against

(30:58):
fantasy quarterbacks over their last eight games as well, including
this year, the Bengals only blitzed on four percent of
their plays as well, so Lawrence should have a little
bit of time back there, not to mention the game
script of them falling behind the Bengals is very is
a very likely play that he'll need to pass. So
I have an A grade on Brian Thomas Junior, who
I know had a terrible week last week. He saved

(31:21):
you with the rug in touchdown, but even stud wide
receivers have duds, and he still had seven targets. Lawrence
only had four completions over fifteen yards. I'm sure he'll
look deeper a little bit more this this week. Both
Tillman and Judy against the Bengal team last week had
decent games and it's one of the highest overrunners of
the week. Brian Thomas will get Cam Taylor Britt, who

(31:44):
allowed a one to fifteen point nine passer rating against
last year and this year is ranked one hundred and
sixth of one hundred and thirteen quarterbacks so far through
one game. Though it's just one game, let's keep an
eye on that. I have a C grade on Travis Hunter.
Six of his eight targets were inside five feet. It's

(32:04):
similar similar to your Dylan Sampson's said, Yes, he was.
He was playing mostly slot, which we know he can
play outside. He can go outside, but he was playing
mostly slot and it was designed quick slants. To him
most of that, Like, that's a lot of what he saw,
So that's why he only had thirty three yards on
six catches. Hard to be productive there. We've seen Deantay
Johnson and Juju Smith Schuster be productive with that kind

(32:27):
of role. But I expect his role to expand. Not
a true slot guy, so I think his role will expand.
C grade there. He should get some volume and Brenton
Strache was might take a chance on me player. So
over on the Cincinnati side, I have an A grade
on Joe Burrow. I know it wasn't as great last week,
but we're one yeard. Yes, yeah, we're one We're one

(32:51):
year removed from the Jaguars being the worst pass d
in almost every category and allowing by four by far
the most twenty plus yard explosive plays. I think Cincinnati
can take advantage of that. Burrow had eight multi score
games in his last nine games to end the year
last year. He'll bounce back. So I got an A
grade on Jamar Chase as well. Interesting note on Jamar

(33:13):
Chase last week, the lowest amount of average separation per
target in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (33:17):
Wow, Jamar Chase.

Speaker 6 (33:19):
That's last never I know not getting separation, but I
expect that to rebound as well. He gets Tyson Campbell,
who's thirty third among cornerbacks on PFF, but he had
a one oh seven pass rating last year, so that
thirty third might be a one week variation of him.
T Higgins is getting a B grade. They're the only

(33:39):
wide receivers that even got a target for the Bengals
last year, so they should get a lot of volume
if Burrows numbers tick up, So a B grade for
t Higgins. He's got a tougher match up against Jerry
and Jones, who had a thirty four point two coverage
grade last week.

Speaker 5 (33:52):
No offense on the bench. I don't think I need
to go over it.

Speaker 6 (33:55):
But even though he scored the touchdown, the other two
tight nds out snapped him and got more red zone.
He just got the touchdown. And Chase Brown churches Chase Brown.

Speaker 5 (34:05):
Can I call that you?

Speaker 3 (34:07):
Ken?

Speaker 4 (34:07):
Absolutely hell. I'm very happy to be associated with Chase Brown.

Speaker 6 (34:11):
No other running back hatdoch for the Bengals. How to carry?
Panthers running backs went over one hundred and a score
in this matchup last week. Eight of the final ten
that lead backs against the Jags. Eight of the final
ten went for one hundred plus and scored twelve times.
What's a lot of volume from lead backs going against
the Jaguars. So I have an a grade on Chase Brown.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
He is my number four ranked running back for this week.
When we come back, we've got another block of matchups
for you with Brock Purty out. Which forty nine ers
can you trust to keep Piersoll in a second consecutive game,
Dwon Jennings dragging a limb behind him and a shoulder.

Speaker 3 (34:51):
What are you going to do with your forty nine ers?
Find out when we come back to Fantasy Football Weekly.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
Welcome back Football.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
Weekly, Paul Chearchy and Scott Fish, Matt Harrison with you.
Let's get you another block of matchups beginning in San Francisco. No,
brock Purty, Mac Jones will be your starter, and he was, Matt,
he was your take a chance on me quarterback.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
So which of your his receiving options do you like
in this game?

Speaker 7 (35:39):
I mean his best receiving options probably Christian McCaffrey, who had.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
Ten target any, two Russian.

Speaker 7 (35:44):
Attempts, thirty two touches last week. He had a perfect
Fantasy Life utilization score of one hundred, so he's an
obvious A grade. With George Kittle out for at least
four weeks, some of flecked to Jake Tanjas as an option,
as he did have a touchdown last week in relief
of Kittle, but as my eleventh grade social studies teacher,
mister Soderholm would say, well, I wouldn't. I'm not going

(36:10):
with Ton. Just too many variables with a.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
Backup quarterback and a backup.

Speaker 7 (36:14):
Tight end, and the Saints have only allowed two tight
end touchdowns in their last eighteen games, so I don't
like that. I'll throw a C grade on both Ricky
Pearsall and Juwan Jennings. Pearsall looked like wide receiver one
last week with seven targets four catches in one oh eight,
and a handful of teams actually dropped Juwan Jennings after
only two catches for sixteen yards in Week one and

(36:34):
a questionable tag, but CHARGE will tell you that that
is a big mistake. Jennings will match up with slot
corner Alante Taylor, who played nearly every coverage snap for
the Saints last year and had a one hundred and
seventeen point nine passer rating. In his coverage and a
thirty five point four miserable PFF grade. Pearsall does flex

(36:56):
into the slot as well as San fran moves their
receivers all over the formation, but C grades are there
because there's some risk that McCaffrey just runs away with
everything in the passing game and the running game. On
the Saints side, I got three guys I feel like
you can start first, Juwan Jennings, who got a whopping
ninety seven score on Fantasy Life's Utilization Mentor. He was

(37:17):
on the field for all but one snap, He ran
a route on all but one pass play, and was
targeted on twenty three percent of his routes and had
thirty percent of the Saints' air yards, which tight ends
don't normally do. And this is a team with Olave
and Rashis Shaheed and Brandon Cooks. So I'm giving Juwan
Johnson an A grade. The Niner shutout the Seahawks tight

(37:39):
ends last week, hey Lan House tight ends last year,
Laporta McBride, Kraft McBride again, and John U. John who
all had pretty decent days against San Francisco.

Speaker 6 (37:51):
Triplett's been talking about Juwan Johnson for years in New Orleans,
saying they really want to get him involved.

Speaker 3 (37:56):
Yeah, I talked about them all preseason this.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
I mean.

Speaker 5 (38:02):
The last like three years. He's like, but he can't
stay healthy.

Speaker 7 (38:05):
Well, the reports of the death of Chris o'lave have
been greatly exaggerated. He saw thirteen targets last week and
thirty three percent of the air yard, so Spencer Ratler
was looking at two options, Johnson and Olave, which sounds
more like a skin a stringent than a pair of receivers.
It seems like the Faith would try to attack a

(38:25):
slot corner Upton Stout, which is also on tap right
now at my local proof. Olave ran most of the
slot routes against the Saints. For the Saints wide receivers
last week, he should be on Stout the most, and
the outside corners Diamador Lenore and Ronardo Green they're both

(38:46):
above average. So it's a B grade for Olave and
bench grades for Shaheed and Cooks and Spencer Rattler. And
finally it's Alvin Kamara whose death might not have been exaggerated.
He did get a touchdown last week, but only saw
thirteen total touches and he averaged twenty one touches per
game last year. Now, it's only a one game sample,

(39:06):
but he only saw that little work twice in games
last year. But the old man might still have it.
He ranked third amongst running backs last week in PFF's
Elusive Rating, and San Francisco's run d is okay at best.
And we're actually quite bad last year allowing the most
rushing touchdowns in the league to opposing backs. I'm gonna
give Kamara B grade here. Let's call week one of Fluke,

(39:28):
and if a Saints running back is gonna get a touchdown,
it's probably Alvin.

Speaker 4 (39:33):
The Bears take on the Lions, and I want to
start with Roma Doonsay, who led the team in snaps, routes,
runs and targets, and Ben Jonson giving that kid every
opportunity to break out in his sophomore season, and it
could happen here. In the offseason, the Lions brought into
lead cornerback DJ Reid, and we talked about this earlier,
how Sauce Gardner always played one side and Read always

(39:54):
played the other side, and then they had Sauce for
the Jets ended up shadowing. DJ Reid played both sides
of the field and got roasted last week. Gave up
four or five passes completions in his coverage. I like
Roma Dunze with a B grade here, Still like DJ
Moore and all the weird ways he was used on
Monday Night against the Vikings. He took snaps at every

(40:16):
receiver position plus three snaps in the backfield as a
running back. By the way, he might be the team's
best running back. DJ Moore used downfield eighteen yards per target.

Speaker 3 (40:27):
Like that too.

Speaker 4 (40:28):
I've got a B grade on him as well. And
if I like those two guys, I must like Caleb Williams.
He gave you the scrambling, so that was super helpful.
Fifty eight rushing yards and a rushing touchdown finished as
running back nine thanks to that. The passing still obviously
a work in process, but still I like the matchup
enough where Williams is startable.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
I've got a C grade on him.

Speaker 6 (40:49):
Williams, Yeah, I do number one in off target throws
last week for the in the NFL. What Yeah, highest
percentage of target throws.

Speaker 3 (41:01):
That does not surprise me honestly watching that game.

Speaker 4 (41:04):
I don't know if that counts as a number one
ranking or a number thirty two ranking, but yes, uh
Cola Comet, olamedes A Kaias, Colson Love and Luthen Burden
not on the field enough to matter, and the running
game DeAndre Swift was bad. That running game never came together.
The Lions run defense great last week. They held Josh
Jacobs to three point four yards per carry, and they

(41:26):
were good last year too, only one one hundred yard
rusher all last season despite all the defensive injuries they had.
I can only get you to a C on DeAndre Swift,
and I don't even like that. But nobody else, no
other running back got to carry, so we'll take him
a C grade. On the Detroit side, I'm on ross
Aint Brown with a bounce back game coming. He was
very quiet week one, but it looks like Chicago's excellent

(41:49):
slot corner Kyler Gordon is going to miss the game
and Saint Brown is going to be pelted with targets
out of the slot. I love him with an A
grade here. Jamiir Gibbs also obvious A grade. Some of
the the other guys are a little trickier, but I
still like him in a bounce back spot, including Sam Laporta.
Chicago was basically unchallenged to tight end last week by
TJ Hockinson and the Vikings. TJ only had four short targets.

(42:12):
Laporta is going to see more balls than that. Laport
ranked fourth among all tight ends and utilizations score in
Week one, and he accounted for twenty percent of the
team's targets and air yards. So I like Laporta in
a bounce back for a Bee. Jamison Williams on the
field all game last week, and you'll see a lot
of star cornerback Jalen Johnson, who should return now. Williams

(42:34):
had a gigantic game last time these teams met in
Week sixteen, one hundred and forty three yards in a score.
But this is a tough matchup and Williams has always
been an all or nothing fantasy provider.

Speaker 3 (42:46):
I've got a B grade on him here.

Speaker 4 (42:47):
But there is a risk reward scenario for him and
staying with the passing game for Jared Goff, I'd like
him more if the if Jalen Johnson were gonna miss,
But with Jalen Johnson back, I still like GoF Oh hey,
he's my quarterback nineteen this week startable with a C grade, even.

Speaker 3 (43:04):
Though well, okay, I'm gonna move him to a B
grade site.

Speaker 4 (43:07):
I do have an A and a B on his
two starting receivers, and I do like Laporta, so I'm
gonna move on golf up to here to a B grade. Lastly,
David Montgomery bad game last week, but this was a
bad Bears run defense last year, and they couldn't stop
Minnesota's power runner Jordan Mason, who had a really nice game.
And Monty hammered the Bears in his one matchup against

(43:29):
Chicago last year twenty two carries. So here's the Bears.
They've allowed the most rushing touchdowns last year. We'll give
David Montgomery another bounce back player with a B grade, Scott.

Speaker 3 (43:40):
This is gonna be a tight window. I don't know.
I don't think we can sneak in one more matchup,
Probably not in our remaining time. I don't think. I
don't think we can quite get there. No, I don't
think so either. Let's see.

Speaker 5 (43:54):
Yeah, yeah, let's.

Speaker 3 (43:56):
Talk about fantasy life for one moment.

Speaker 4 (43:58):
If you want some of the best content and tools
you can and possibly a get in fantasy football, fantasy
life dot com, including the Utilization score, which we refer
to on this program all the time. The utilization score
wraps up how well used a player was in his offense,
and it looks.

Speaker 3 (44:15):
At all the metrics rounded into one score. Yeah, it's great.

Speaker 5 (44:20):
It's become a tap.

Speaker 3 (44:22):
My fantasylife dot com.

Speaker 4 (44:25):
When we come back three Tough Questions, you can play
along see if you can go three and zero against
our panel of experts Scott Fish and Matt Harrison as
we answer some of the thornius questions facing fantasy football managers.
When we come back for our number two, a Fantasy
Football Weekly. Welcome back Fantasy Football Weekly, Our number two.

(45:11):
I am Paul Charchie and my co host are Scott
Fish and Matt Harrison.

Speaker 3 (45:15):
You can follow us on x at Paul Charchian, Scottfish
is at Scottfish.

Speaker 4 (45:19):
Twenty four, Matt Harrison at Explosive Output. You know, we
used to have explosive output all the time on this show, Matt.
Now we never seem to have explosive output anymore. Is
nobody you just get me instead? Just you just plain
old Matt.

Speaker 3 (45:34):
That's all.

Speaker 5 (45:35):
We love Matt.

Speaker 3 (45:36):
We do love Matt, and we love the explosive output.

Speaker 4 (45:39):
And maybe we're going to get some out of the
players we're going to talk about, but it doesn't look
like it's this guy.

Speaker 3 (45:43):
For question number one.

Speaker 2 (45:45):
Tough question number one, what's.

Speaker 4 (45:48):
The appropriate level of concern for Kansas City running back
Isaiah Pacheco?

Speaker 3 (45:52):
Is it none? Is it some?

Speaker 4 (45:54):
Or is it a bowel loosening level of existential dread?
For this one, we begin with Scott Fish.

Speaker 6 (46:00):
Yeah, it's it's some and you could you could make
a case and talk me in to blow it. It
doesn't seem like Andy Reid has a lot of faith
in any of the running backs being a lead dog,
especially Pachecko at this point. The upside is he played
fifty one percent of the snaps to Hunt's thirty eight percent.
He played the red zone role, he got the loan
red zone target, he ran more routes, he was the

(46:21):
two minute guy. He he had many of the facets
he was in there. But uh, that that is quite
a split there, So I'm gonna go with some some.

Speaker 4 (46:31):
All right, Matt, what's the appropriate level of concern for
Kansas City running back Isaiah Pachecko?

Speaker 3 (46:36):
None? Some, or blowed?

Speaker 7 (46:39):
It's that poop again, charg It's blowed. God stole a
lot of my talking points. But both had five carries
in this game. That's not good Uck and the undead
corpse of Kareem Hunt is the guy stealing carries from
Isaiah Pachecko. By the way, Hunt was on the field
for all the short down and distance snaps and eighty
three percent of the long.

Speaker 3 (46:59):
Down and distance snaps.

Speaker 7 (47:01):
I'll tell you about a Chiefs runner I like a
little bit more later though.

Speaker 4 (47:05):
All right, Uh, for this one, I'm I'm trying not
to overreact to one week.

Speaker 3 (47:10):
It's tempting, though, I believe.

Speaker 4 (47:12):
The correct answer is going to be some because Kareem
Hunt is just not good. I mean, it's sooner or later,
the best running back's got to get more work.

Speaker 3 (47:20):
And at the goal line. I still think it's gonna
be Pacheco.

Speaker 4 (47:24):
My big worry about Pacheco, it's less Kareem Hunt and
more that this team trades for a running back and
just finds a whole new running back here. Imagine what
Kenneth Walker would do in the Elves backfield.

Speaker 5 (47:37):
Amara or a second take Bigsby trade.

Speaker 3 (47:43):
Now perfect. I would love that. All right, let's go
to our second question.

Speaker 2 (47:49):
Tough question number two.

Speaker 4 (47:51):
It's possible that Miami wide receiver Tyreek Hill has cooked.

Speaker 3 (47:55):
Should fantasy managers work to obtain Jalen Waddle? Matt, what
do you.

Speaker 7 (48:00):
Think fantasy managers should not try to get Jalen Wattle?
In fact, fantasy managers should sell whatever Dolphins they can.
And I kind of hope the Dolphins sell devon a
Chan to the Chiefs because I think he's the only
guy you can really roster right now. And I know
fish like Tua is take a chance at me quarterback.
The stink of death is all over this Dolphins team.

(48:22):
They've been caught in a fishing net. It's gross. And
you're confident with Zach Wilson getting snaps supporting a wide
receiver because it's not if to it gets hurt, it's when.
So you're Zach Wilson and Jalen Wattle? No thanks, all right, Scott?

Speaker 4 (48:39):
With Tyreek Hill looking potentially cooked, should fantasy managers try
to obtain Jalen Wattle?

Speaker 2 (48:45):
For on mine?

Speaker 6 (48:47):
I feel very much the same way Matt does for
this season and for many of the matchups for the
Dolphins coming up, that this team just is a little
bit gross right now. Will they find their way back?

Speaker 5 (48:59):
Tyreek Hill.

Speaker 6 (49:00):
Well, he's still leading targets, leading basically every other category
over waddle Ye has his shoulder injury. Like, I'm not
even completely buying that Tyreek Hill is completely cooked, and
whatever that offense produces, it's still gonna have to split
between Hill and Wattle and h Chan, et cetera. And
it might not be splitting a very large pie. So

(49:20):
I'm gonna go with no.

Speaker 3 (49:22):
I'm afraid the answer is no.

Speaker 4 (49:23):
I thought that maybe this would be a by situation
for Wattle, because I do think he'lls cook.

Speaker 3 (49:28):
Get this. Hill's last thirty yard game, this gain.

Speaker 4 (49:31):
This is Keep in mind there's a guy known for
explosive output, big big plays right downfield, the Lasers going
to Tyreek Hill.

Speaker 3 (49:41):
His last thirty yard gain was over one year ago,
Week one of last year.

Speaker 6 (49:49):
Just a note, he did have two really deep targets
in this one, one not caught and one was I
believe intercepted in the called back or just straight up intercepted.
He had two deep shots, but did so.

Speaker 4 (50:02):
At least I tried. At least I tried a couple
of times. Side note. Also, you know when you are
the subject of a domestic violence investigation that could be
weighing on you too and I this whole thing, or
I think Matt summed it up nicely. We're just we're
mostly we're just out on Dolphins. I don't think there
is a bilo here.

Speaker 2 (50:20):
Tough question Number three Should you.

Speaker 4 (50:23):
Drop Pittsburgh rookie runner Caleb Johnson Scott only the two
snaps one carry negative two yards for Caleb Johnson in
the opener.

Speaker 6 (50:35):
I think you might be able to in the short
term and maybe look at him later in the season,
and maybe it just never pans out. But sure, yes,
Arthur Smith has had a very long history of not
trusting rookies gain will actually let in snaps and targets
and routes run and reception about that. At best, you're
hoping that Caleb Johnson can be like demonstrably better than

(50:58):
both of them and get a get a huge role.
But guess what, Bijon freaking Robinson couldn't even do that
in Atlanta in an Arthur Smith the offense, he's still
split it with Tyler Algier, and so I think it's
sure you could probably drop him and try to get
him back later if you really wanted to.

Speaker 5 (51:14):
If there's something but I doubt it.

Speaker 3 (51:17):
I'm mat how can we drop rookie runner Caleb Johnson.
Not yet, but I'm nervous.

Speaker 7 (51:22):
I actually did look up how Arthur Smith was treating
rookie running backs and he actually gave Tyler Algier and
Bijon a pretty big run, both of them at the
very start of their rookie campaigns. But the issue here
is Jalen Warren averaged three point four yards per carry
and Kenneth Gainwell averaged two point seven yards per carrie
last week, and that's.

Speaker 3 (51:42):
Not going to cut it.

Speaker 7 (51:43):
I think the primary reason for concern for Caleb is
he's not regarded as a good pass blocker and his
quarterback is ninety four years old, and he never had
the pass block in Iowa because they haven't discovered passing
the football in Iowa City yet. So Jalen Warren two
pass block grade for Pro Football Focus, that's horrible. Gainwell

(52:06):
only managed a forty five grade last year for Pro
Football Focus on pass blocking.

Speaker 3 (52:10):
That's also bad.

Speaker 7 (52:12):
So if Caleb can beat out either one of those
two guys in pass blocking, I think he'll start getting
more time on the field because he's a better runner
than both of those guys.

Speaker 4 (52:21):
Cooler heads always say it's week one, don't panic after
just one week in a small sample size. I'm generally
on the side of panic. This is going back many
many years on this show. We've had this debate in
week two, many many times. If you are slow to act,
if you are going to wait for more and more
data points one, you can't even trade Caleb Johnson anymore

(52:42):
if he keeps going this way. I mean, right now,
there's at least optimism I could trade to Matt right now,
or you could be picking up somebody else who helps
your roster. We're going to give you all the players
that we're going to give him premature speculation. I would
rather have on my roster than Caleb Johnson. I'm going
to wait around for Arthur Smith to get his senses
back in him Bjohn Robinson. It took ten weeks before

(53:06):
Bjohn Robinson was more of a workhorse back for Arthur Smith.
He was being shuttled in, as Matt mentioned, on a
part time basis, and that was the guy who was
the eighth player taken in his draft. So we are
out on Caleb Johnson.

Speaker 3 (53:20):
I'm moving on.

Speaker 4 (53:22):
Let's go back to our matchups, beginning with New England
taking on Miami. Earlier in the show, I told you
Weremandre Stevenson was might take a chance on me running back.
What about his backfield mate Traveon Henderson Scott.

Speaker 5 (53:33):
Yeah, I have a starting grade on him too. I
have a C grade.

Speaker 6 (53:35):
Despite less work, as you clearly laid out, he's still
got more targets and he was much more efficient even
with his rushing touches. He averaged over five yards per
Carrie caught six balls.

Speaker 3 (53:48):
Look good.

Speaker 6 (53:48):
And if his down day is twenty seven rushing yards
twenty four receiving yards but a double digit ppr da
because of all the catches, what's he going to do
in a matchup like this? As you said earlier, this
is a This is a matchup where they allowed forty
running back touches just the week Frire Trevion Henderson should
get some of that and he should be pretty pretty
efficient with that. In relief, I should have made him

(54:10):
by take a chance. I'd be players so we could Yes, yeah,
running backs into the passing game. I have a C
grade on Drake May. Miami posted the highest blitz rate
last week, which may cause Drake May to get out
of the pocket a little more. He didn't really do
that in Week one, despite a huge game allowed to
Daniel Jones by the Dolphins. Two of those were rushing

(54:34):
touchdowns and they were second best against fantasy quarterbacks last year.
But the second half had a bunch of multi score games.
So hopefully may can get near that three hundred dollars
three hundred yards and potentially get some rushing on the ground.

Speaker 5 (54:47):
C grade there, you.

Speaker 6 (54:49):
Could talk me into a little higher. I have a
B grade on charges boy kaishawan boody oh, I love it.
Top twenty air yards last week, led the team in routes,
run targets, tied in catches, and a bunch of other
wide receiver categories.

Speaker 1 (55:06):
He led it.

Speaker 6 (55:07):
He's he's been limited with his shoulder injury, but he's
off the injury port.

Speaker 5 (55:10):
He's gonna go.

Speaker 6 (55:11):
Gets a matchup against Rozuel Douglas, who was one of
the better corners in the NFL for for three years
and then he really tailed off. A fifty three PFF
grade and one hundred plus passerwating against over the last
year and a game.

Speaker 4 (55:27):
Rasoul Douglas was a street free agent two weeks ago.

Speaker 3 (55:30):
That's the state of Rasul Douglas right now.

Speaker 6 (55:33):
And way, I do have a bench grade on Tomorrio Douglas.
The seven targets was amazing last week, but he had
two catches negative two yards and a score. Somehow with
seven targets he had negative two yards in a score.

Speaker 5 (55:50):
Unbelievable.

Speaker 6 (55:52):
Yeah, unbelievable. Charge looked up. He thinks it's the only
time that's happened in NFL history. Seven targets negative two yards.

Speaker 3 (55:58):
We don't think.

Speaker 4 (56:00):
Yeah, we don't think anybody's ever had seven targets less
than negative two yards and scored a touchdown in the
history of the NFL.

Speaker 3 (56:05):
Amazing stat line.

Speaker 6 (56:07):
Unreal c grade on Stefan Diggs, who caught six of
his seventy targets, six of his seven targets for fifty
plus yards in a double digit day. He didn't have
any red zone targets, but he only played twenty nine
snaps as they eased him in at least I hope
it's easy. I don't even understand why you only played
twenty nine snaps. But he got a lot of work

(56:27):
when he was in. He's going to see Jack Jones
this week, who had one hundred and seventeen pass rating
against last year and allowed eight scores in his coverage
last year.

Speaker 5 (56:35):
Ooh, that's a lot. That's bad. Oh.

Speaker 6 (56:38):
By the way, he also had some disparaging words about
not being scared of digs this week, So I feel
like that's the kind of locker room thing Diggs would
take take to heart.

Speaker 3 (56:48):
He could take that personally for sure.

Speaker 5 (56:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (56:50):
Absolutely over two Hunter Henry C grade Miami just gave
up seventy six yards to Tyler Warren. Truly felt like
it should have been more. Honestly, watching that game, that
target volume from last year just didn't go away. And
I'm not worried about the target volume that Henry had
last year. It's still there, that twenty percent target rate.
Not worried about Waller on the Miami side to a

(57:12):
tech Tuga aloa is my take a chance on me player.
I got C grades on both Hill and Waddle, but
I wouldn't I wouldn't be said, I wouldn't say anything
if you benched him. I get it. But Tyreek Hill,
he Pats are going to be without Christian Gonzaz, which
is good for Hill. Who's gonna get Alex Austin played
six games last year, allowed one hundred rating against, and

(57:33):
he's a four to six guy. I don't think he
can quite keep up with the Cheetah. Jalen Wattle gets
a tougher matchup in Carlton Davis, who was PFF's twenty
first ranked quarter last year. Unlike unlike last year where
Waddle and Hill got everything in Week one, they both
played under two thirds of the snaps. All the rest,
all the rest of the wide receivers do nothing in
that room, so it's basically it's basically two guys. They're

(57:56):
gonna get all the work. So I got Sea grades
there and Devon a Chan gets a grade ten touches
to Gordon's three last week. Gordon really didn't do anything,
but he looked okay, he didn't even look good with
those three, honestly, but fifty six and fifty six yards
and two scores against New England last year with TUA
and New England held genty down last week, and they're
really controlled that line of scrimmage. So the best I

(58:17):
can get to is a B grade and you hope
for a lot of a lot of pass game work.

Speaker 4 (58:21):
Makes sense, Matt, Let's go over to the Giants taking
on Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (58:24):
Russell Wilson looked bad last week.

Speaker 4 (58:27):
You know what's bad when after week one your coach
has to give you the dreaded vote of confidence after
the game and reassert that yes, you're going to be
the starter. Do you have any hope for Russell Wilson
in this passing game this week, in which should be
an easy matchup with Dallas.

Speaker 7 (58:41):
I mean I do have some hope for the passing
game as Wandelle Robinson was might take a chance on
me receiver. And I still have Molik Neighbors in an
A grade because in two matchups against the Cowboys last
year he had twenty receptions. So is there something as
a volume A grade because I think Melik Neighbors gets
that I wouldn't start Russell Wilson though, and I don't
think many will. But I will point out a Scott

(59:02):
Fish nugget that I found. Maybe that's a fish dick. Yes,
Wilson led.

Speaker 2 (59:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (59:09):
Wilson led the league last week with eight pass attempts
inside the ten, but only went one for eight on
those passes for negative two yards. That cements my bench grade,
along with the fact that Andrew Thomas is nursing a
foot injury and has been downgraded to doubtful and offensive
linemen I have reason to believe need feet. I can

(59:33):
barely limp to a C grade on Tyrone Tracy. He
got twelve touches as a running back in a game
last week where the game script quickly shifted out a
favor for the running game, but was still in the
field for seventy four percent of the snaps, and I
think we can call that a volume C.

Speaker 3 (59:48):
The Cowboys did.

Speaker 7 (59:49):
Allow four point zero yards per carry last week, but
that was the Saquon Barkley. But it feels like the
Giants have to commit to the run game as much
as possible to even things out. But Tracy needs to
do more than two point four yards per carry, and
there's no other Giants to start on the Dallas side.
Ceedee Lamb has ten days to think about the couple

(01:00:09):
of drops that may not have cost Dallas the game
in the opener, He's gonna be angry, and I think
he gets an A grade here. Dak looks super poised
last week, and I'll fire him up with a B grade.
The Giants do have a good defensive line, and I
think the pressure they'll put on the Cowboys may result
in shorter and intermediate routes last week or this week.
Dak has only topped three hundred yards once in his

(01:00:31):
last five meetings with the Giants, and those defensive lines
were not as good as this one. But I like
what I saw to Dak last week, so a B
seems fair against a line that's gonna put some pressure
on him. George Pickens only saw four targets last week,
mostly stays on the perimeter, so he'll match up with
Cordale Flott and Paulson Adabo, who are not guys.

Speaker 3 (01:00:52):
I made up those two.

Speaker 7 (01:00:53):
Mostly did a decent job keeping Terry McLaurin in check
last week, so I'll start Pickins with A. But it's
a risky C, kind of like the Drake passage, you know,
the most dangerous ocean worldly done Antarctica on the tip
of South America. But now I'm now realizing that we
should use the Drake passage for matchups when we have

(01:01:16):
risky C. Start wide receivers, all right. Finally, the running
game in Dallas. Javante had eighteen opportunities last week.

Speaker 3 (01:01:25):
That was huge.

Speaker 7 (01:01:25):
Miles Sanders had four and he ripped off a big
run and later fumbled the ball, So we could definitely
only start Javante, who had seventy seven percent of the
running back snaps. And it's a pretty legitimate B grade
for him too, and I think I'd be giving him more.
I didn't think i'd be giving him a B this year.
I thought I'd be giving him more Drake passages this year.

(01:01:46):
So the Commanders were able to rack up one hundred
and sixty four total running back yards last week plus
a score, and Jacory krossky Merritt was able to ding
this d at eight point two yards per carry. So
Javonte's a B and I feel pretty confident about it.

Speaker 4 (01:02:03):
When we come back to Fantasy Football Weekly, A J.
Brown does he bounce back against a good chief secondary
find out after a very disappointing Week one whether or
not you can rely on him for fantasy points when
we return.

Speaker 3 (01:02:52):
Welcome back to Fantasy Football Weekly.

Speaker 4 (01:02:54):
Another big block of matchups for you, beginning with Philadelphia
taking on Kansas City. There's some Eagles I love in
this one. Jalen Hurts in Saquon Barkley. Obvious A grades
even though this is a good Chiefs defense. But let's
talk AJ Brown. This is a squeaky wheel alert, a
Scott Fish special. Brown had a dud game in Week one,

(01:03:16):
and he has dud games every year, like two or three,
just dud games. What happens the next week they pound
the ball to AJ Brown? He averages The week after
he has seen two or fewer catches, he averages eight
and a half targets, five catches, seventy five yards and
half a touchdown. Kansas City has been a good pass

(01:03:37):
defense in prior years, but justin Herbert just lit up.
I like AJ Brown at an A grade here as well.
DeVonta Smith comes into the B grade. Last week all
three of the Chargers wide receivers posted Fantasy relevant games
against the Chiefs and in the Super Bowl when these
teams met. Really, I guess just two games ago, Smith
posted sixty eight yards and a touchdown in that one.

Speaker 3 (01:04:00):
He is a B grade.

Speaker 4 (01:04:01):
Dallas Goddard is out with the sprain knee, and I
would not pivot to Grant Calcaterra unless you absolutely have to.

Speaker 3 (01:04:07):
He is on the bench.

Speaker 4 (01:04:08):
Let's go over to Kansas City, where we start with
Hollywood Brown coming off a sixteen touch game last week,
target game last week. Xavier Worthy not expected to play
in this one. He's doubtful more targets coming to Hollywood
Brown and the Eagles. Cornerback of Dori Jackson in his
first game with his new team brutal last week, giving

(01:04:29):
up more coverage yards than any player one hundred and
three yards all by himself. Hollywood Brown a solid B
grade start. Juju Smith Schuster at a C level if
you want the same five catches fifty five yards he
had last week. He does have a punishing matchup in
the slot against Cooper dejen but he also ran outside
for half of his half of his receptions last year,

(01:04:52):
so Jude's got a chance to also get some of
that Adorri Jackson action as well. Travis Kelce, you'd think that,
like last week with Worthy knocked out early and Rahi
Rice suspended, the whole passing offense and go through him.
Did not go that way last week, only targeted three times.
He only had two catches in the Super Bowl matchup.
As well, The Eagles were an elite tight end defense

(01:05:15):
last year and the Cowboys did nothing in the opener,
So I guess I just I don't love Kelsey here,
and I've only got.

Speaker 3 (01:05:20):
A C grade on Travis Kelcey.

Speaker 4 (01:05:23):
Patrick Mahomes looked all right in Week one, but we
just we're still not seeing the downfield passing we've been
asking for for two years out of Mahomes. Everybody thought
it would start to come together here that has not happened.
He's lost his top two receiving options. And on the
Eagles defensive side, I thought Dak Prescott actually played pretty
well against them, although it only totaled one hundred and

(01:05:45):
eighty eight yards and no scores in the opener. I've
got Mahomes of just a sea grade as well. And
then the running game, which we discussed earlier. Isaiah Pacheco
very worried about him based on what we saw in
Week one, and I've got a bench grade on him
against one of the last year's best run defense. Now,
Javonte Williams look good against the Eagles in the opener
on Thursday night, but I don't. I think the Eagles

(01:06:08):
get back to being a very tough run defense, and
the checko only the five carries last week. Let's move
on to our next matchup, that is the Rams taking
on Tennessee Scott Puka Okua picked up right where he
left off last week.

Speaker 6 (01:06:23):
He really did every time he gets at least sixty
percent of the snaps. He's basically a matchup proof stud.
So I have an A grade on him. I have
a B grade on Devonte Adams, who's gonna get Lagerius Snead,
who played limited snaps but didn't allow a single catch
on his limited snaps last week as he gets eased
in coming back from that ACL tear. When Sneid isn't in,
Adams is gonna get Jarvis Brownlee, who is PFF's forty

(01:06:46):
six rand corner and we got one ninety eight pass
rating allowed last year. Adams did catch four of his
eight for fifty one yards, played sixty eight percent perimeter.
He was on the perimeter most of the time with
Pooka on the inside. Of course, there, Matthew Stafford, I'm
giving a C grade too. The Titans allowed multiple scores
in twelve games last year. They kept the yards really

(01:07:07):
low fewest passing yards allowed to passers last year. Continued
that with boon Nicks only getting one hundred and eighty
in Week one, but Stafford profiles closer to a lot
of the guys who had multiple scores last year, and
he has better weapons, so I'm giving him a C
grade here. Kyron Williams gets an A grade saw all
but one carry for the Rams, So so much for
that spelling him thing they kept talking about. He has

(01:07:29):
scored twenty five. He's scored in twenty five of his
thirty two games as a starter, thirty two touchdowns twenty
five of the thirty two games he started. Dovins and
Harvey in this matchup last week went for one hundred
and thirty seven in a score, but Kyron gets it.
Also a grade on the Titans Sea side. I can
only muster one C grade because of cam Ward and

(01:07:51):
that and that passing, you know, barely over one hundred
yards passing and a tough matchup against the Rams front
seven that's going to get to him. I know you
might want to start Ridley or elk Iamin ar manor
who I like later in the season, but it's not
the place here. Tony Pollard's the only one with a grade.

Speaker 5 (01:08:08):
A C grade.

Speaker 6 (01:08:09):
He played eighty nine percent of the snaps, eighteen of
twenty carries, thirty one of thirty four pass plays. His
backups only had six snaps.

Speaker 5 (01:08:18):
That's it.

Speaker 6 (01:08:19):
Wow, Yeah, just six naps. It's a tougher matchup, but
we just saw Nick Chubb go for four plus yards
of carry in this He's gonna get my patented, trademarked
volume c here.

Speaker 3 (01:08:30):
Alright, I love it.

Speaker 4 (01:08:33):
Matt Denver takes on Indianapolis bo Nicks with a dud
game in the opener. Do you expect him to bounce
back against Indianapolis Colts?

Speaker 7 (01:08:42):
I do. His issue last week was his average depth
of target was only six point four yards downfield, sixth
lowest in the league, and his yards per attempt was
only four point four. Only cam Ward was worse than
Week one, and the Colts defense held to almost completely
in check last week. But I don't know if I
believe it. I'm gonna throw a be great on Nicks
because I don't think I can believe in that Colts defense,

(01:09:03):
even though I think it seems like a run heavy
week for the Broncos. Here, Courtland Sutton's the only receiver
I think you can start with confidence, and that includes
Evan Ingram for me. Sutton targeted nine times last week,
hauled in the only nine touchdown pass, and led the
team in receptions and yards be grade for Sutton, He's
clearly the favorite, but I'll leave Mims Franklin all on

(01:09:26):
the bench. I just need to see the Broncos consistently
support more than one receiver in fantasy before I start
a lot of these games. As for the running back
site believe you can start both JK. Dobbins and R. J. Harvey,
or as I like to call them, R JK. Hobbins,
who is a character from the series. He's only had

(01:09:46):
six carries this is Harvey and one target, but had
seventy grounds on the seventy ground yards, mostly off that
big run last week. Dobbin saw eighteen touches and the
rushing touchdown was on the field for over half the snaps.
The cold this defense gave up a pretty decent day
to Devon a Chan before they stopped using him. He
had almost eight yards per carry and they gave up

(01:10:07):
on the run. So I'll give a bea to Dobbins
a sea to Harvey, but I think Harvey's gonna eat
into that workload sooner or later. On the Colt side,
I'll stick with the running game and Jonathan Taylor, who
had a little bit of a mixed bag last week
twenty one touches, twenty seven yards through the air, three catches,
but man, the worst part was Danny Dimes kept stealing

(01:10:29):
his touchdown runs. Obviously, Danny Dimes is the new Jalen
Hurts were pretty stoked against the run last year. But
last back to top one hundred rushing yards on the
Broncos was Jonathan Taylor in Week fifteen of last season.

Speaker 3 (01:10:43):
So a B grade here.

Speaker 7 (01:10:45):
I mentioned Danny Dimes, who had two rushing scores on
seven carries, also had two hundred and seventy two passing
yards in a score as well. If only in the
preseason someone mentioned Daniel Jones as the handcuff that mattered
most to you.

Speaker 3 (01:10:57):
Oh that was me.

Speaker 7 (01:11:00):
Now, the Broncos defense is a completely different animal than
the Dolphins. In fact, their players are picking up the
number two. So I guess I guess I should say
most casual fantasy players. They're picking up Daniel Jones as
the number two quarterback in fantasy and blindly plugging them
into their lineup. That's wrong bench him this week. Outside

(01:11:21):
of those two, there were two big games the Broncos
gave up last year to yolo quarterbacks Joe Burrow and
Jameis Winston, and outside of that, they averaged only two
hundred three passing yards and less than a passing score
per game.

Speaker 3 (01:11:34):
So I got Daniel Jones on the bench.

Speaker 7 (01:11:36):
I got Michael Pittman on the bench as well, because
he's gonna match up with Patrick Sartan, who shadows the
team's best perimeter wide receiver, and that's Pittman. If you
are in a league that requires you to start one
cults wide receiver every game, I'd go Josh Downs, who
runs most of his routes.

Speaker 5 (01:11:52):
From the slot and are crazy.

Speaker 3 (01:11:54):
Yeah, they are weird.

Speaker 7 (01:11:55):
The slot cornerback Jakwan McMillan is the path of least resistance.
But I'd still prefer Downs on the bench. But if
there's a Colts receiver I would start. It's rookie Tyler
Warren at tight end. Came in with a Week one
utilization score of ninety one, which was sixth best, targeted
on thirty eight percent of the routes last week. Last year,
the Broncos did struggle with high volume tight ends. Five

(01:12:18):
different tight ends that saw at least ten targets.

Speaker 3 (01:12:20):
Last year.

Speaker 7 (01:12:21):
They averaged eight catches sixty seven yards and nearly a
touchdown per game, so a B grade on Warren.

Speaker 3 (01:12:29):
All right, we will take a break.

Speaker 4 (01:12:31):
When we come back to Fantasy Football Weekly, another set
of matchups before.

Speaker 3 (01:12:35):
You, plus premature speculation.

Speaker 4 (01:12:38):
Find out which players you should pick up now that
will be coveted next week and already on your roster.
Premature speculation coming up next. When we returned to Fantasy
Football Weekly, final segment Fantasy Football Weekly, Paul Charchi and

(01:13:20):
Scott Fish Matt Harrison with you as we do every
week at this time, a segment we call premature speculation,
where we give you three players to pick up now
that everybody else can be trying to pick up next week,
but they're already on your team.

Speaker 3 (01:13:36):
We begin with Scott Fish.

Speaker 6 (01:13:38):
Yeah, I'm gonna go with kumanong guy. And it's not
as much of my loong guy who I didn't really
draft much in the off season. It's more about how
bad DeAndre Swift looks. He was fifth worse than rushing
yards over expectation per attempt, just over three yards per carry.
He didn't even break a single tackle last week.

Speaker 3 (01:13:57):
He didn't even break that.

Speaker 6 (01:13:59):
Yeah, I can't imagine that. Ben Johnson is gonna love
that for very much longer. He talked about liking Monong
Guy in the in the preseason, and he's also talked
about gating Manoguy more involved going forward. So maybe a
stash just on the fact that the backs in front
of him, Roshawn Johnson and DeAndre Swift are probably not
the backs that Ben Johnson wants leading that team.

Speaker 3 (01:14:21):
All right, Matt, you're a premature speculation player. I've got
a running back too. It's Breshard Smith of the Chiefs.

Speaker 7 (01:14:27):
We talked about concerns with Isaiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt,
and Breshard Smith is the only other Chiefs runner who
got snaps last week.

Speaker 3 (01:14:33):
Well, he didn't get a target or a kerry.

Speaker 7 (01:14:34):
He was on the field for eight snaps and then
he ran six pass routes while he was out there.
And Thorne Eistrom talked him up about his Senior Bowl performance,
saying that he was making linebackers and safeties look silly
when they tried to cover him out of the backfield.
I think he's the best passing option and it's not close,
and he's gonna have a game very soon where he
gets like five catches and one of them is a
long one, and everyone will spend all their fab on him.

Speaker 4 (01:14:56):
So I can see it all right, Kansas City running
back Shard Smith, I'm cheating. I'm going back to back
with the guy it gave you last week because nobody listened.
Kayshawn Boody rostered in one percent of ESPN leagues.

Speaker 3 (01:15:12):
One percent, that's it.

Speaker 4 (01:15:14):
So it turns out now that we have a data
point from this year, he led the Patriots in snaps,
targets and routes run ahead of Stefan Diggs and Pop Douglas.

Speaker 3 (01:15:26):
Kaishaan Boody.

Speaker 4 (01:15:27):
Going back to last year, He's had three games out
of his last four, with over ninety five receiving yards
and touchdowns in two of the last four games. So
I'm going back to Kaishon Boody so you guys keep
actually start picking him up. Premature speculation player. Let's go
to our first and next of four matchups, beginning with

(01:15:49):
the Chargers at Las Vegas. This is the Monday Night game,
one of two Monday Night games. We start with Lad
McConkie and Keenan Allen, both a grades coming off great
games against a far better opponent last week.

Speaker 3 (01:15:59):
Kansas.

Speaker 4 (01:16:00):
The Raiders overhauled their secondary in the offseason, and they
looked bad. Both of Lad mccacki and Keenan Allen run
from the slot a lot where they get to match
up against cornerback Darnay Holmes, who gave up seventy three
yards and ranked his Pro Football Focus's worst fourth worst
cornerback in the league last year. Quinton Johnston was might
take a chance on me wide receiver. And if I

(01:16:23):
like those guys a lot, I gotta like Justin Herbert,
who comes in with an A grade. I thought it
looked great to see him last week. He's finally looking healthy.

Speaker 3 (01:16:32):
He's not bang up.

Speaker 4 (01:16:33):
He's got a much easier assignment this week against Las Vegas,
who struggled to stop Drake May and the opener. I
like all his receivers A grade for Justin air Bear.
Omario Hampton got almost all the work last week. I
thought he looked pretty good. He might turn out to
be very limited on horizontally moving plays. He's really good

(01:16:55):
north south arder. What I didn't like about Omar and
Hampton if you can turn him outside or if they
have designed stretch plays. Hampton takes tackles for losses in
those scenarios.

Speaker 5 (01:17:05):
Shades of Isaiah Crowell.

Speaker 4 (01:17:08):
Now that could be. That's an interesting one. Latavious Murray
had that problem. The Raiders run defense dominated the Patriots
and the opener. They held the Patriots runners to just
three yards per carry. The Chargers run blocking is way better,
though I think Hampton fares better here, gets plenty of work.
A B grade on Omari and Hampton and Nazie Harris
only eleven snaps last week. He's gonna have to get

(01:17:29):
more playing time before we can consider putting him into
our starting lineups. Let's go over to Las Vegas, where
Ashton Genty a quiet debut. It was held by a
short touchdown that masked some bummer metrics for Ashton Genty
that I did not think we'd be talking about right now.
Two yards per carry, a long run of just nine yards,
and an offensive line that gave Genty negative three yards

(01:17:54):
before contact. He was getting hit behind the line of
scrimmage on average last week. No room to run for Genty.
The Chargers run defense basically untested by Kansas City last
year but finished seventh in Pro Football Focus is run
defense grades.

Speaker 3 (01:18:10):
I've only got to be on Ashton genty.

Speaker 4 (01:18:12):
After the offensive line woes and a slow start last week,
Let's go to the passing game. Brock Bowers did not
practice Friday. His status for this game on Monday Night unclear.
If you've got Brock Bowers, go get Michael Mayer. And
if you don't have Brock Bowers, go block the person
who's got Brock Bowers by picking up Mayer. If you're

(01:18:35):
playing against Bowers, that's a defensive savvy move. And if
you want to double down on that move the another
Monday Night tight end to Tyler Conklin, you can pick
him up too.

Speaker 3 (01:18:45):
Put the squeeze on that brock Bowers. Manager.

Speaker 4 (01:18:49):
Bowers comes in with a C grade if he is
able to play in this one because of the risk
of re injury. You know who I love in this game?
A Fantasy Football Weekly favorite. Jacoby Myers. Ten targets in
Week one, all ten catchuple passes. He'll see a lot
of cornerback tar heb Still that is a Matt Harrison

(01:19:09):
favorite right there.

Speaker 3 (01:19:10):
Oh, he's not real all he's not a real guy.

Speaker 6 (01:19:13):
Now I need to make a graphic of Jacoby Myers
holding produce. All I do is produce. Could he be
the distiller car Tarheb distill. I don't know, we'll have
to we'll work shop that he gave up five receptions
on five targets in his coverage last week. I love
Jacoby Myers here with a B grade considered an A

(01:19:34):
grade for him as well. Trey Tucker on the other side,
played ninety percent of the snaps opposite Jacoby Myers. He's
running the starters routes and he is a low volume,
high risk, high reward spot starter. And I've got a
C grade on him here. I like him in Best
ball formats. He'll also see tar Heeb steal the producer

(01:19:55):
as he is now called, but also some Dante Jackson,
who was awful last year. How bad was Dante Jackson
in his coverage, you might be asking. His Pro Football
Focus ranking was cornerback one hundred and ninety five, one
spot ahead of Kendallvildor. That means I've gotten a killdoor
Vindo wildor reference in congratulations to me.

Speaker 3 (01:20:17):
I'm feeling very good about that.

Speaker 4 (01:20:19):
Gino Smith was might take a chance on meet quarterback
in this game, and he comes in with a C grade.

Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
I could be talked into it be grade for him too, Scott.
Let's go to Carolina taking on Arizona.

Speaker 6 (01:20:31):
Yeah, I only have two starting grades for Carolina. I
have a bench on Bryce Young Cardinals' top ten against
the pass They held down Spencer Rattler last week, but
before that day, the six quarterbacks they faced the end
of last year all under two hundred and thirty five yards,
so he's on the bench. Tetero McMillan, unlike Ashton genty,
did everything we expected him to do, led the Panthers

(01:20:52):
and targets receptions yards twenty three percent, target share forty
percent of the air yards. He does get second round
rookie Will Johnson, who last week saw seven targets against him,
allowed thirty two yards, defended three passes, had an interception
called back, and he was PFF's second graded corner in

(01:21:14):
his rookie debut Holy cow ninety point three coverage grade.
He's also six foot two with the thirteen floor longest
arms in the class, so he might be able to
actually match up against tedtar ROAs. So I just have
a B grade there. Cuba Hubbard, I also have a
B grade. He was inefficient, but guess what he's still
got nineteen touches in a few grabs most weeks. If

(01:21:34):
you get that kind of volume, you're gonna get a
Serira B. The game script might be rough for Cubas rushing,
but he's going to get some pass game work if
they fall behind. It's a good sized volume. C volume
ced into a B. I'm gonna give him the B here.
Because Kamara Miller Devin neil All last week went for
four plus yards per clip. I think he's going to
get more more out of his work on the Arizona side.

(01:21:56):
I have a B grade on Caro. Kyler Murray allowed
multiple scores to their final five quarterbacks they faced last year,
to a total of sixteen scores in five games. Kyler's
a little bit more like them than he is like
Lawrence because he adds the rushing, so B grade for
Kyler Murray. James Connor gets an A grade. Despite Benson

(01:22:17):
taking a bunch of pass catching STAPs, Connor still got
five of the six running back targets. The lead back
has topped one hundred rushing yards in eight of the
last nine games against the Panthers. Leadbacks in that stretch,
averaging one hundred and seventy two total yards and a
coin flip for a score. So A grade on James
Connor and obviously Trey Benson I think gets some work

(01:22:40):
as might take a chance on me player. Trey McBride's
an easy A. We don't need to talk about that.
But Marvin Harrison a B grade. Harrison had half the
air yards, all the end zone targets. Harrison and McBride
had over eighty percent of the team's receiving yards. He's
gonna get Mike Jackson, who in Week one had a
seventy eight point three cover seventeenth ranked cornerback by Pro

(01:23:02):
Football Focus, but last year he had a one hre
and twenty four point nine passer rating against. So maybe
that was a little fools goal last week, but I'm
still giving Marvin Harrison the B grade.

Speaker 4 (01:23:13):
All right, Matt, let's go over to your final matchup,
and that's Tampa Bay taking on Houston on Monday night.

Speaker 7 (01:23:19):
Yeah, second Monday nighter. Here, I got Bucky Irving, who
seems pretty safe. I got a B grade on him.
I was nervous that his terrible pass blocking might have
kept him off the field on passing downs while Wurfs
was out, but he had seventy seven percent of the
RB snaps and four of the five running back targets
last week, and the Texans are pretty legit. But Kyron
managed to sixty nine total yards in a score, so

(01:23:39):
that seems like a pretty good comp for what Bucky
could do this week.

Speaker 3 (01:23:41):
I'll call it a bee.

Speaker 7 (01:23:43):
Baker Mayfield has thrown for multiple touchdown passes in seven
straight games, including last week at Atlanta.

Speaker 3 (01:23:49):
Amazing.

Speaker 7 (01:23:50):
In those last seven games, Baker has averaged four rushing
attempts for thirty yards on the ground. He's a ground
game helper. Six games. The Texan have only allowed six
total passing scores, but some good running days to the
only fleet of foot qbs they faced in that span.
So a b for Baker and it bumped up because
of his rushing prowess Mike.

Speaker 3 (01:24:11):
Evans and a Mecca Agbuca. It wasn't a fluke.

Speaker 7 (01:24:15):
Abuka was on the field and ran her out for
ninety seven percent of Baker's passes, with Evans at eighty
nine percent. Worth noting by the way Sterling Shepherd was
on the field. A Ton as well had six targets,
which was twenty two percent of his routes run if
you're desperate at wide receiver. Shepherd's not the worst guy,
but B grades to both Evans and Ebuka. But the
Texans a play a lot of zone coverage. The Rams

(01:24:38):
figured it out last week and picked it apart. Puka
and Adams combined for fourteen catches in one hundred and
eighty one yards. On the Texan side, Chubbs might take
a chance on me running back, and then there's only
really two other Texans you can start.

Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
C J.

Speaker 7 (01:24:51):
Stroud very disappointing week one on the stat sheet with
only one hundred and eighty eight yards and a pick,
but I'm holding out hope and I'll give him a
B grade as in bounce back because Michael Pennix was
able to get to two hunder ninety eight passing yards
last week with a similarly bad offensive line. They're on
their third string right tackle. I would hope that the
Texans line can do just enough to give Stroud some

(01:25:12):
time in this one, so be there. Nico Collins was
only targeted on seventeen percent of his routes in Week
one and twenty seven percent of his routes last year,
and I bet they have to figure that out real quick.
He was still in the field for eighty four percent
of his snaps despite Stroud throwing to everyone else last week.
I like Collins matchup against Zion mccollin and Jamel Dean,

(01:25:34):
but the Falcons kept a lot of things underneath against
Tampa last week, and I'm just I'm hopeful that it's
just a turnaround here for Nico so a B grade,
but I'm a bit nervous about this passing game because
they're throwing to everyone, including Xavier Hutchinson, Justin Watson, Jaden Higgins,
Jalen Noel, Dalton Schultz Cad Stover all had at least
two targets each.

Speaker 3 (01:25:55):
That's gross.

Speaker 7 (01:25:56):
However, had Stover did just hit ir So a sneaky
tie end Dalton Schultz if you need the brock Bauers
replacement on Monday Night. The tight ends were targeted nine
times last week, and that could be all Dalton Schultz
this week nine times.

Speaker 4 (01:26:11):
The Sunday nighter is Atlanta taking on Minnesota. I love
Drake London in this game. Fifteen targets last week, although
Drake Mooney coming back meet's probably a few less targets.
The Vikings secondary posted a PFF coverage rating thirty first
in the league last week. Now, fortunately for them, the
Bears misfired on open targets, but that may not happen here.

(01:26:32):
The Vikings are going to be without starting cornerback Jeff
Okuda and starting safety Harrison Smith in this game. That
and London's got a huge size advantage over the Viking
small corners. A great on Drake London, B great on
Darnell Mooney, a great dart throw with this banged up
Viking secondary, and Mooney put up six catches one hundred
and forty two yards when these teams met last year.

(01:26:56):
And if I like London Mooney, I like Pennix too.
By the way, I think it's a B grade on Mooney.
I've got a C grade on Pennis. Forty two passes
last week, a career high. The running game couldn't get
going last week, and they trusted Pennix to throw the ball.
It was only his fifth NFL start. And I do
think the Vikings defensive wizard Brian Flores will try to
mess with them a lot pre snap changes and a

(01:27:18):
lot of blitzing. But still these matchups are really positive
for his receivers. C grade on Pennix and of course
an A grade on Bijon Robinson. You don't need a
lot of detail on that, but a bounce back from
last week's two yards per carry, probably coming in six
catches one hundred yards last week. The Vikings did held
him in check mostly last year when they met, but

(01:27:39):
still he scored a touchdown lack in that game, and
we like him here too. Justin Jefferson obvious a grade
for the Vikings side, and none of the other wide
receivers are going to get bench are going to get
positive grades here. Adam Thielen was mostly unused last week,
just seventeen routes run did catch a two point conversion,
but we're not going to start him here.

Speaker 3 (01:27:58):
TJ.

Speaker 4 (01:27:58):
Hockinson surprised me with only four targets last week, and
I'm worried about his volume. When JJ McCarthy only throws
twenty one times despite a deeply negative gain script, I
don't know that Hockinson's gonna get a lot more use here.
And then Atlanta didn't give up any tight end receptions
last week at all.

Speaker 3 (01:28:16):
So Hockinson just a C grade and that brings us
to the running game for the Vikings.

Speaker 4 (01:28:21):
Jordan Mason clearly the better runner over Aaron Jones last week,
he had double the rushing attempts. He really needs a
goal line opportunity to materialize. Maybe happens, maybe a doesn't.
But the Falcons run defense shockingly good last week. Bucky
Irving held to just two point six yards per gary.

Speaker 3 (01:28:39):
He gets a C grade. Aaron Jones C grade in
PPR only.

Speaker 4 (01:28:43):
We saw that he's going to be much more of
a pass catcher than a runner last week, and I
think that continues here. Back to Irving scored by the
air last week, and maybe Aaron Jones can do two
in a row as a receiver.

Speaker 3 (01:28:56):
Thanks for listening, everybody.

Speaker 4 (01:28:57):
Fantasy Football Weekly will be back next week for a
