Speaker 1 (00:00):
I wonder you know, let's bring up our special guest,
Jonathan Gernard. Are you a fan of a coffee? Are
you a coffee connoisseur? Somebody who likes to have a
I don't know, a large chocolate mocha with extra whipped
cream or something like that.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
I unfortunately am not a big coffee drinker. My wife kids,
so like I'm more usually like trying to grab it
for But yeah, like I wish I was because it
looks so good when everybody else keeps it.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
So, you know, I don't know if we're allowed to,
you know, ask you this question now, but you're on
the phone with us, so I'm hoping that means you
are on track to be on the field this week
in Green Bay? Am I allowed to ask you that?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
And so? Am? I? Right? Well, you kind of already
asked without me giving permissions, So I mean, you know,
I'm always just transparent as possible, but I really say
I will We'll see.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Okay, just know that, sir. Do you get a real
Christmas tree or a fake one?

Speaker 2 (00:51):
We're getting a fake one. I've had one, a real
one in the past. We had this year. We're going take.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Okay, see He's right, it's so much more convenience.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
It's less maintenance, less stress the guy worry about.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
It's definitely less maintenance for sure. But I mean, I
think ultimately you got to do a lot of got
decorated at that stuff. So I guess you can't run
from the maintenance actually period of a tree. But yeah,
I mean the smell. I honestly personally like the smell
of a true, a real tree, but as you know,
it's like you have to do a lot of more
other stuff with it, so a fake one will definitely
get the job done. This shit.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
So all of your friends and family from the South
do they do they ask you about what Minnesota winters
and Minnesota Christmases specifically are like, because it's kind of
the best part about growing up in an area that
has a lot of snow.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
It's the Christmas season is the best part.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
I think that's the only thing everybody asked me about it.
Sometimes they forget I even play football, like, like what's
the weather? Like I'm like, well, I don't mentally have
to deal with it all the time, just because we'll
play inside. But you know, I have a couple of
break ones that will come up here and try to
test it out there on like it's just not that bad.
It's not that bad. And then even just two weeks
ago when it suddenly dropped down to the twenties all

(01:58):
of a sudden, when it was a shocker that everybody
has my family up and they were like, yeah, this
is what it's like in early November, you know, end
of October. I can only imagine. Just don't be like
come January, you know, things like that in February.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Nor dog.

Speaker 5 (02:11):
We all want to see you on the field. We
didn't love to see you standing on the sidelines. But
what did go into the decision to wear a black
leather vest as your sideline outfit for Saturday.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
I'm assuming it was leather. That's how it looked that.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
It was really no thought to it. I've always warned,
like I even wear that type of solid cut off
jacket like here in the facility when I'm just regular
training and doing every day to day extupt with the team,
So nothing really went into I used to wear that
as well before I warm up before every game is
well too, so I didn't know it was it was
that much of a talk. But yeah, I just threw

(02:48):
something on us in my locker.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Have people brought it up to you.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
No, never, like that's never. I mean the only thing.
Chaos probably said something to me probably last year about it,
solely because I cut the sleeves off of it, and
it was like, listen, just trying to show off, you
want to But outside of that, now, I've never had
any other complexity. Anything says you look sharp, you look sharp,
thank you, thank you, thank you, thank look I didn't

(03:13):
try to.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Hey, I know it's looking backwards.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
And again, you didn't even play in the game, but
you've played against him in the past. What We've had
a lot of people in the last handful of days
talk about how hard Caleb Williams is to bring down.
Though again, I know you were on the sidelines, but
what is it about Caleb that makes him so elusive?
What should you be aiming for when you're trying to
tackle him?

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Honestly him? I mean it's it's he's kind of a
shorter bill, but he's not a short guy, so it's like,
you know, target is a little bit like minimized from
a guy who's a little bit taller. But he's elusive. Man,
I think when you're running full speed upfield at somebody
and then he's a stationary target he can use or
a minimumgainst you. I think a lot of people forget that.
It's like you'll be bringing him down and he just

(03:54):
want to spin out of everything of your If you
wrap him up, he wants to just kind of switch
the ball, so to thinking about a lot. You know,
you also want to tee off on this guy, t
off on quarterbacks in general, but there's no way to
do it. So all that's going through your mind. But
you can't hit him too hard. You can't, you know,
you got to hit him in a certain area. So
most times I'm trying to go for the ball, which
is March times why I kind of missed it a
little bit. But I'm going for the ball because I

(04:17):
feel like that's like the most that's what we're all tasting after.
But it's like a lot of ways you have to
get to them. You can't do certain things. So I
feel like that's the most effective way to try to
get the balls working in the past. But you know,
definitely have a little difficulties this year. But it kind
of goes for all quarterbacks. Just this new age of
guys who you know, they become the best athletes whenever
you're running full speed at them. So all I can

(04:38):
say is to get multiple people around him to that
way once he breaks the first one, and the next
guys right there. So that was kind of the planning
a little bit. Yesterday. Obviously broke a couple and made
some plays, but that won't be the first normalize because
we've seen him do that against everybody else who it
just isn't us. When we kind of had him in
the first game of the year, we're like, man, this kid,
is is it really him? Like? Or is it is
it us? Where are we better? You know, messing up

(04:59):
on tackling. But we see like literally he went from
the most sacked quarterback to with I think now the
second or third least sack quarterback. And that's literally so
because of his escapability. It's not about anything of his
his pocket being clean or anything like that. He sold
just making some Whodini he plays and hats off to
him and it's been working. So just gotta be better

(05:19):
out and and put more hats to the ball to
get him done.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Dallas Turner played really well on Saturday. Seven tackles, five pressures.
He had a sack. What did you see in him
from the sidelines that you really liked?

Speaker 2 (05:31):
It was really good. It was aggressive, decisive, He was
confidently going to that game. He definitely understood the game plan.
So it was a good opportunity. He knew going into
the week out I probably wouldn't be able to make
a run for it, So it was it was mainly
on him. You see, he had the most nasty tat
off season, and I think he had the did really
really well opportunity to meet on the ball and that
he left out there. A couple of players I know

(05:52):
he left the he told you he left the sack out.
They left the interception almost out there as well. But
just in totality, man, he was a physical he excuse me,
you did his job. Man. We're all just proud of
how you just stepped in and played it. We already
knew that was gonna happen. It's just a matter of
just getting those reps. So Dallas is an amazing job
for me. I think it's I'm contine to just carry
that on obviously going into this week as well, and

(06:14):
we're gonna be right there every step of the ways
to continue to coach them up, but definitely was Dame
proud of DC at.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
Height play Jonathan Gernard again as our guests, and this
week talking about being called out side. We're getting really lucky.
We're going to Green Band. It's gonna be fifty one
and sunny on Sunday. How do you feel about playing
in that stadium? And no, exactly they're calling fifty one
and sunny on Sunday. How do you feel about going
on that stadium? What are you thinking about with Jordan
loving that team?

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Man, it's another division ripple. I think it's gonna be
one of those nail bodis again. You know, same thing
I said about anybody else. They don't like us, we
don't like them. The rectors go out the window. As
we know, we're just fighting. It's obviously for that spot.
It's bragging rights, and y'all know how this division goes.
So this game means a lot and going into hostin territory.
They're playing good ball right now, so I know we

(06:59):
got a good plan vote for them. But I'm excited, man,
Like you just mentioned, they blessed us the good bless
us with its good weather because we got put with
Green Bay later on during the year. That's my first
time being in Green Bay and the kind of quote
unquote colder time. But obviously just mentioned it's gonna be
the fifties, but it's gonna be a good challenge. Man.
I'm super super excited just so that we can get
another opportunity to get the taste out of my mouth

(07:21):
and obviously just continue to go one to know. So
that's that's the big mindset, and we ain't gona switch
one up, but we just know it's gonna be a
dogs like.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Again, if you can't answer this, that's fine. I don't
know what you're allowed to say. But if we can
go back a couple of weeks when we saw you
on the ground when your shoulder got hurt, it looked
really bad and all of us that are fans of
yours like that cannot be good. It looked like it
was a serious, serious injury. Obviously, it sounds like you've
avoided that. But in that moment, were you concerned that
it was over, that it was that your season was
on the line, that the injury was that bad.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Yeah, I mean it hurt like the mother. So honestly,
in that moment, I was just like, man, we just
got to figure out what it is and get to
it and get to work. But I know the staff
we have, man, especially whenever they were just talking to
me and telling me what's going on, that I know
that I was going to be back eventually, and I
know that was I avoided what it could have been.
I was seeing you all saw that as well. So

(08:11):
it definitely hurt like hill, But at the end of
the day, that's part of the game, and I think
what a good plan is rehaving everything else, I'll be
back stronger than ever so doing really well, so that
it's encouraging. So I'm excited to see what with the
next couple of days.

Speaker 5 (08:25):
Bring for sure.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
All right, hopefully you get helped healthy. Hopefully we see
you on Sunday against the Packers. Thanks man, appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Jonathan. As always
