Speaker 1 (00:02):
Conde hour.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Norden for Pa it's a Friday feast and joining us
now didn't work out yesterday just based on scheduling, but
of course weekly guest from a fantasy pickup joint perspective,
Paul Charchi and at Paul Charchie and Vax in his
nuclear safe bunker in Utah side of some mountain or
(00:26):
special monument, etc.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Paul Charchie enjoins, Now, how you doing charge.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
At the pickup point? That's going back aways? Nice, nice
memory on that. Well done.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
No, I love the pickup joint.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
It was cool, little bar ambiance to the whole thing,
a little innuendo in the mix. It's it's always fun, man,
you know, it was fun last night, and it's it's
tough to maybe it's tough to find parallels, but it
was fun last night watching that Rams Niners game and
seeing a squad that is just a mash unit. Their
three top pass catching options out of the mix, and
(01:03):
you have a quarterback situation that is somewhat murky. Purdy
can he stay on the field. When he's been on
the field, he hasn't been great. But Mac Jones rolls
in there. He's got a bum knee and they still
find a way on the road. It took overtime, and
it took McVeigh taking a big swing there on the
fourth down at the end, but seeing a team overcome
(01:23):
injury via scheme, toughness and coaching, that was that was
pretty cool last night. Not to mention whether it's Kendrick
Bourne or it's Christian McCaffrey. There was definitely some feasting
from a fantasy perspective there too.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
Yes, there was and heartening for Viking fans that are
fretting over this offensive line that a team can be
completely depleted at one position and still have backup step
up and play well. And that's what we saw in
last with the wide receiver situation missing George Kittle, Brandon Ayuk,
Ricky piersoal Juan defense and here's fifth, six, seven string
(02:00):
guys that are that were making plays all night. And
mac Jones was downright Gallon. I gotta wonder if if
you are a Niners fan or you're somebody in the
front office, if you're having some second doubts about that quarter.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Of a billion dollars, Yeah, that you gave to Brock.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Purty, who's playing really at about the same level that
Mac Jones is playing right now.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Well, I just wonder too. I didn't get a chance.
It just didn't come up with Greenway.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
But it's one of those things like mac Jones probably
never in all Pro, probably never Hall of Fame, et cetera,
et cetera, down that line, right, I mean, whether you
know what's your level of greatness or the trajectory of
a mac Jones. But every time he got hit last night,
one of his own linemen that was probably partially responsible
for it, like mckivitzen company, they.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Turn around and they're like, is Mac dead?
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Like the way they were looked, how does he keep
hitting back up, limping his way into the huddle to
the next play went down? I think at least once
I remember they were in the red zone, he got
sacked maybe on a third down or hit on a
third down.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
And then there may have been one other time if
they had it.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Let's say, OT's not the mix, uh not not an issue?
Times on an issue he has to go back out there.
After what I saw, I think he's like ruptured at
a kidney, Like that's crazy, And I just wonder how
like what that does to an entire team like, yeah,
we know Mac Jones is and Josh Allen, but like,
this guy is giving almost literally it all on the field.
(03:31):
It was kind of It was impressive to see Mac
last night.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
It was, and I don't I don't think anybody could
disagree with that. He looked He looked great.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
And when you see when your quarterback is battling like
that and you know he's giving body parts on the field,
you know that. I think that rallies everybody to play
their best, and it was. It was a gutsy, gutsy performance.
Sometimes announcers will go overboard on that stuff and try
to create I don't know, drama where there isn't drama
and praise whether it's not deserted boy, it was there,
(04:04):
that was, it was. It was a It was a great,
great game from that probably the best game of Mac Jones' career.
And you know, even if the Rams had picked up
that last fourth and one and they had gone on
to win the game, I still like to think that
we'd be talking about Mac Jones right now and his
incredible performance.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
Me Sean McVay, he blew it on that last play call.
That's uh.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
Matthew Stafford was on fire the most. The easiest way
I think that can pick up it's it's easy to
say it now that it failed, but the easiest way
to pick up that yard and half I think would
have been to spread your wide out four wide and
maybe defense figure out who they're.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Going to cover and you know, go go hit Book
and Ko if you need to. It's yeah, it was.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
It was an odd play call when the when the
Niners pass defense was reeling at the end.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
What you know, fantasy, I'm just kind of going to
sprinkle it in as we go here, but but just
kind of has me thinking, like my favorite team, the
offensive line, I'm still trying to get to know who
some of these guys are.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
It's it's just been tough and and you see that
and you know that, but from a.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Fantasy perspective, it's kind of been that way too, where
you know, Poka Nakua probably would go number one in
drafts for the most part. Now, justin Jefferson, people still
hoping that they that they you know, and technically not
buying low six or seven a first round pick, and
you're waiting to see how this QB thing shakes out.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
But the injuries, like I see McLaurin. I don't think
he's even making the trip this weekend.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Like some big timers, some big timers across the board
are hurt, and then you have guys like AJ Brown
who you bought high on and their quarterback never throws
it to him. So it's just how weird has it
been this fantasy season? Really grinding in and trying to
find the Kendrick Bournes of the world.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
Yeah, we you know, we usually we spend so much
time talking about how wide receivers are typically the safest positions.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Yeah, this year's been tricky.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
There's been a lot of dud wide receivers out there,
and maybe none bigger than AJ Brown, who you just reference.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Get this, he said, one good game.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
His other three games, he's been Fantasy receiver seventy, Fantasy
receiver ninety seven, and Fantasy receiver one hundred.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
He's he's languishing because the Eagles just don't pass.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
They're throwing the fewest passes in the league, which is
not that uncommon them for them, but usually AJ Brown
gets fed anyway. Only fifty one percent of his passes
Nordo have been deemed catchable by PFF, so he's getting
some targets, but then they're not quigh quality targets and
he's not able to make a catch.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
He's frustrated. There's whispers that.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
There's a fractured a fractured personality rift between Jalen Hurts
and AJ Brown and you hope that's not the case.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
And to make everything worse, here comes Denver.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
They lead the NFL in pass pressure and on the
back end they've got Patrick sartannem Andley Moss.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
This is a it's a brutal matchup. It's very tricky.
He's not for a J. Brown to get right this weekend?
Speaker 5 (07:05):
Would it?
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Would it be if if you were to pick one
guy like the human guillotine, who is just I mean,
if if you're within ten feet of him, you're getting
your head chopped off?
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Is it AJ Brown?
Speaker 5 (07:16):
At this point?
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Is has there been anybody that maybe is more underwhelming?
One other guy Ohn, Yeah, one other guy that's close.
AJ Brown has appeared in the top ten most chopped
player list in Gaillotean Leagues three of four weeks, and
so has one other player, Dereck Henry.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Oh, Derek Well, all those fumbles, Rick Henry, Yeah, the.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
Fumble Well you're getting negative too on the fumbles, but
that isn't even the whole story really, I don't think.
I mean a lot of it with Derrick Henry. Also
is he's just not running very well right now, Derek Henry.
I don't know if you saw this tweet, Dereck Henry,
you want to guess some broken tackles he's got through
four games, Dereck Henry.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Through four games, I'll say like seven or eight.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
He has four.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
There are seventy six NFL players with more broken tackles
than Derick Henry is accumulated in four full games. It's
you know, I'm not saying it's a career for Derek Henry,
so I don't want to be that guy. But the
way he has looked so far has has been tentative.
(08:28):
Teams are punching the ball out, He's only running for
a little over three yards per carry.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
I mean it's right now.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
You know, this Ravens team that's got a million injuries,
it's all bad for Dereck Henry at the moment.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
So do you do you potentially buy back in on
him because of the Lamar situation? Though?
Speaker 1 (08:48):
I mean, does that give you does that give you.
I mean, I don't know what the end. He hasn't
been a guy.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
That's fumbled or been non productive for long stretches mostly
his entire career.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
And things are weird with the Ravens as you may,
But I mean.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Do you potentially buy back in like if we got
some balky Hammy situations with h with with Lamar, then
maybe that lends to leaning on King Henry.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Yeah, I just think taking Lamar off the field doesn't
help anybody. Cooper Rush is not a plus for anybody
in that offense, and that includes Derick Henry because now
your defense can really play to stop Henry, make Cooper
Rush beat you throwing to orshot Bateman, and that is
you know, if that's a chance most teams are going
to take.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
So I don't I don't think that's going to help here.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
And I think if you drafted Derrick Henry, Henry, you
you I you know, you probably have to take your
lumps because his value is a little low right now.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
But you know you might want to see what it
will what it would cost to get out of that
if you want to the other part that's that's hurt
Henry a bit.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
Ravens are just losing every game, and so end of
game they're going to Justice Hill in the fourth quarter
because they're they've fallen behind so much they need their
pass catching back in and that's.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Just as Hill.
Speaker 6 (09:56):
What uh?
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Mixing fantasy with reality?
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Whether it's Dustin Jefferson, Jordan Addison gets his reps back
last week, Jordan Mason not as efficient against the Steelers
as he was against the Bengals. Now this Browns team
comes rolling in. So whether it's fantasy, whether it's reality,
what do we got ahead of us on Sunday morning? Man,
this looks daunting.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
First team to two wins.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
Well that's what I was I was joking about two
years ago.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
You remember that Vegas game, man, the three nothing thriller
I do in the seven h two, And this has
the vibe sadly, injuries and everything included to be one
of those types of games. I really hope it isn't,
and I'm trying to change my face on it. It's
just this one's going to be a grinder, man, It
is going.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
To be a grinder big time.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
Let me, I'm nervous about the center position, especially, Allow
me to take you back Nordo two week seventeen twenty
two against Green Bay.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Do you happen to remember that game week seventeen? Okay,
so it's it's at Lambeau and yep.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
Let me see.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
I don't remember the particulars of that game, all.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
Right, Unfortunately I do. Vikings around their backup center, Austin Schlatman.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
You'll remember how slopmanoman, Yeah, I pronounce his name.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
It was I believe it was a Schlopman.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Yes, yeah, a Slopman.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
Austin Schlopman already the backup it's right at the beginning
of the game.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
He gets hurt.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Now we're on third string guy who's never played center,
Chris Reid, and we end up having three fumbled snaps
between him and Kirk Cousins, and it's never a game.
The Vikings offense can never get anything going because they
can't they can barely execute a snap.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
Final score was forty one.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
To seventeen, and most of the vikings seventeen points came
in garbage time at.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
The very end of the fourth quarter. So I'm a
little bit nervous.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Now, No, Ryan Kelly, your backup centers out and now
we're going to be starting somebody. TVD probably Blake Brandell,
who has never started.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
A game at center correct, correct, Yes, yes, that's that
to me.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Is a is a is a significant level. That is
a bowel loosening level of existential dread right.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
There, Mary, what do you think?
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Well, you just hit me because earlier in the earlier
in the show, I brought it up with with Greenway
in particular because that was his finals year twenty sixteen
where Teddy goes down, Bradford comes in, you start five
to zero, and the O line injuries from khalil Uh.
We brought in Jake Long he tears his achilles at FedEx.
We had Joe Berger and Zach keran Rashad Hill. I mean,
(12:47):
the list of O linemen was just it was a
mile long. But now I'm remembering in that Packers game though.
That was the game where Darnell Savage had to pick
six and Brian O'Neil tore his achilles at Lambeau trying
to run back to catch Darnell Savage. And now now
you got me. My head is completely spinning with the
(13:07):
old line ls with an extra ll in it. Yes,
it gives me pausing. And Joe Hubert himself, I think
he started like twenty ish games at over this final
two years in college at guard Hubert in the mixed school.
People are still trying to sell me that that justin
school looked better on the right side in the second
half against the Packers after O'Neill went down again than
(13:29):
he did on the left side the first two games.
And yeah, this defensive front, and but I'm just curious
does it help it all? That is something we brought
up a few times this week, the idea that instead
of losing Kelly and O'Neill midstream, there is it's somewhat
of a silver line and if you can find one,
the idea that you've gotten a ton of reps this
week with this particular group, and really now it's on
(13:52):
it's on Ko to to find a way to make
that work, whether it's it's handcuffing in an Oliver or
a Hawkinson to a tackle, whichever side Miles Garrett's on,
and really just trying to find some hope in or
prayer efficiency in the run game. Like again, yes the
fear in the trepidation is there, but you're just kind
(14:12):
of hoping again trying to beat Pollyanna on it. Just
the idea that working with the same group all week
might lend to some execution on Sundays. It's scary, though,
Man's it's an awful situation healthwise.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
So did you share any of my second guessing that
Quasi did not make a move for Cam Robinson. All
it cost was flipping a sixth rounder into a seventh
rounder to get Cam Robinson. And not that Cam Robinson
is very.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
Good, because he is just a guy at backle but that.
Speaker 4 (14:43):
Could have been a depth move for somebody who already
knows your offense and would have cost us a sixth
to a.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Seventh or maybe or maybe would have to gone to
fifth to a sixth.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
But I mean the price was so low and you
could have had utility tackle that could have helped you
in a time like this.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
And I when I saw the trade go down, it
was like, man, couldn't we have done that? What do
you think? Was that a missed opportunity?
Speaker 1 (15:09):
It potentially is.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
I've just been I mean the way that this thing
was talked about. So you invest the cash you do
into Ryan Kelly, and sadly, with the concussions and such,
I mean, he might have bigger issues to worry about.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Long term than short term health. Will Fries returning from injury.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
A year, you know, he was out I think maybe
hurt week five, missed the rest of the season. You
spend a ton of cash on him to come in,
and I was kind of sold a little bit higher,
maybe I feel like on Justin's school and what he
might look like as that depth move that you're talking about. Now,
Cam Robinson was available because Cam Robinson has been nothing
(15:49):
short of dreadful and therefore we might even see him
this weekend against the Browns, although that's still kind of
up in the air. They have their own O line
issues to worry about, so maybe we see Cam. Maybe
we don't not necessarily mad about it per se. But
but now in hindsight, from from my standpoint personally, yes,
it was not something that I like. Man, maybe we
(16:09):
go and get a Cam Robinson. Uh, as much as
we've really in some ways been underwhelmed by the guys
that we invested a ton in in this offseason, and
we're kind of bearing out the fruit of Okay, so
measured spending spree by the general manager, we're getting a
bunch of guys maybe at a value, right Jonathan Allen
coming off of injury. Javon Hargrave coming off injury. We
(16:32):
talked about, I mean, Ryan Kelly and Fries both injury
laid in a year ago, and you get a little
value on them. But the optimism is is that they'll
bounce back their veterans, they'll stay healthy. And now we're
now we're kind of eating that a little bit. And uh,
it's it's it's an awful situation. And you'd hope that
that there's a plan in terms of maybe adding a
(16:52):
body to the mix and uh, or at least if
is it just getting into the bye week alive and
and praying that one of these guys come uphealthy and
that Fries figures it out that this and and they
have more money than they have in the last couple
of years as well from a flexibility standpoint under and
and so that's definitely not an issue. It's it's it's
(17:14):
an awful situation for for the GM right now to
figure out probably an unexpected position. They didn't see themselves
watching everybody fall like Domino's like this, but but yeah,
the time to act is now. And uh and yeah,
maybe maybe in hindsight, I guess, Yeah, Cam Robinson coming
back knowing the offense, and and it feels like on
(17:35):
the surface, I think he, you know, man v man
probably maybe a better option than uh than justin school.
I don't know what his experience is on the right
side of the line, but all the same, Well, I
just looked.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
I just looked at Campton's basically never played the right side.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
So I think that's that is.
Speaker 5 (17:52):
So that's it.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
That's significant, and that's something I should have factored in
before I started blabbing that he you know, he would
not necessarily be he'd be playing his first app on
the right side line. He's always been left side, and
he's always been left tackle. And that's the one spot
where we don't think we need the Vikings do not
need necessarily need help. Right now, let me ask you this,
speaking we're talking about this offensive line. Last week, TJ
(18:13):
Hockinson blocked twice as often as he had in the
previous three weeks, in part because presumably offensive line.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Do you think he's going to be spending this game
at the line of scrimmage trying to help handle Miles Garrett.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Well, he's not spending time catching balls out in pass routes.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Why not just block.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
I mean, there was a moment and I love TJ.
I root for TJ. Vikings ended up I think kicking
a field goal in this spot, but they're nearing the
red zone, and in fairness, Carson kind of throws it
against the grain of where TJ's going towards the boundary.
We were traveling right to left on our TV screens
kegs and egg style, and TJ just straight up drops
(18:53):
this freaking ball. And it's one of those things where, Okay,
how do you evaluate TJ's production when the kid QB
can get it to him? Because he's taken six sacks
and then Carson comes in, he's under siege against the Steelers,
and so you know, and and TJ kind of has
been finding his way into the mix offensively a bit,
but overall a complete non factor. And and it was
(19:15):
good to see him blocking, And it was good to
see him finding productivity there because I've just been utterly
disappointed with him as a pass catching option. And so
in a game like this, the way we're talking with
this mash unit Minnesota Moving Company, I absolutely want to
see him on the line blocking. I need Josh Oliver
there too, And and and maybe there's you know, you're
(19:36):
bringing in, You're you're going, you know, maybe unbalanced with
an extra fat body in there, another old ligneman. You're
you're doing something to keep Carson Wentz alive over the
course of sixty minutes in this game.
Speaker 4 (19:47):
You know, I'm with you, And I wonder how much
Hopkinson will end up seeing versus Josh Oliver And if
this really.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
Just turns into this turns into game with your tight ends, are.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
They just they have to they have to stay in line. Yeah,
got to stay blocking. And I think I think that
I think that makes some sense. And even with that,
I think the right answer here is quick first read
passing from from Carson Wentz. Let's let's not spend a
lot of time hoping that this offensive line can keep
it together against a very good defense.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
I think this is first reread I can read out,
you know, two and a half seconds.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Max.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
Let's I'll take short stuff and just try to pick
apart the the Browns second level and see what you
can do with Just get the ball into to JJ's hands,
get the ball to Addison. Let's see what happens and
if they can be make amend miss and go go
make a big play.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
That's that to me, is is what I want to
what I want to see from this passing game.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
It is just quick rhythm passing and let's not let's
not let's not risk Miles Garrett turning in a turning
into Hall of Fame performers here and we're sent in
a jersey off the canton.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Well, yeah, let the athletes work. I will say this though.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
The reason that I feel I still feel very confident
if you can be, I guess in the Vikings winning
this weekend.
Speaker 5 (21:11):
Man.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
I love Flores against Dylan Gabriel. I mean, I you know,
I've seen highlights of Gabriel in college and such, and
I know they got they got that Judkins cat who's
been very productive, not necessarily always explosive per se, but
you like some of the statistics and the numbers you
can read on lines. I love Flores against this against
this group other than Jerry Judy. I know they got
(21:33):
Harold Fan and Junior. Your guy, wasn't he a bowling
green guy or something? You or Miami Ohio may you
loved Harold Fan and Junior, and so does Deefanski.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
They bring him all over the place.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
He's h back, he's out and uh he's blocking online,
He's off and running through the slot like they got
him doing everything.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
I just love Flores against this group.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Yeah I do too. I'm not a huge Dylan Gabriel
fan in terms of an NFL arm. He doesn't have.
He doesn't have a big arm. It's a lot of short,
gentle passes. And what what that'll do for Brian Flores
is in addition to he's gonna he's gonna put.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
Dylan Gabriel's brain in a blunder in pre snap, He's
gonna give him all kinds of bad reads, which is
going to be great.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
I can't wait to see how that plays itself out.
But also because.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
Dylan Gabriel doesn't have a big arm, I I believe
that means Brian Flores doesn't have to put as many
defensive assets into deep balls and outside, you know, near
the near sidelines. Because Gabriel is not and should not
be throwing deep outs. That's that is just not that's
not what he can pull off. Those balls are gonna
(22:41):
float and turn into trouble. So knowing Dylan Gabriel is
going to be trying to do first reads avoid a
good Viking pass rush. It's it's gonna be a lot
of dump off stuff, and I I want to see
Flores be able to take advantage of that. Let's get
let's get our defenders up within five six yards of
line of scrimmage. Let's take away the easy stuff from
Gave for Gabriel and make him have to go through progressions,
(23:06):
force him to make reads. That's it's going to be
a bad spot for Dylan Gabriel. Quinn Shunt Judkins might
touch the ball thirty times in this game.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Yeah, it doesn't that, and that's what it lends to be.
I mean, you know, I'm not in Vegas, You're you're
right next door. I mean, maybe you jump down and
you can place a wager on the under the underwhelming
nature of this game, Like it feels like a ten
to six type of game, doesn't it.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
Thirty six is the over under of this game. It's
the lowest number of the Vikings have been associated within
twenty years.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
And honestly, I.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
Don't know how these teams get to thirty six without
a defensive or special team to touchdown because I just don't.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
I just don't see the offensive productivity coming here from
either team. I mean just everything, backup quarterbacks, great defenses.
I don't know where the points would come from to
even get you to.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
A modest thirty six points. And I don't have to
go all the way to Vegas. I only have to
go to Misskeed. I'm only I'm only about an hour
and an hour and change from miss Quit, Nevada.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
That's not bad.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
You're you're still loving Utah, right, No no buyers, no
buyers or movers remorse.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
I mean you're still digging it out there.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
I miss my friends, I missed the I missed the
froud football feest.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
I miss you.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
It's you know that I miss those things a lot.
But Utah's kick ass. It's it's pretty awesome here, honestly.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Like you're you're gonna you're gonna get off this and
dial down, power down, and you're just gonna walk out
and you're just going to see majestic nature, right, I mean,
that's what that's what we're talking about here.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
Yeah, pretty much.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
It's Uh, it's you know, I still to I'm prepping
Fantasy Football Weekly. That'll be my remain between now and
uh and when we record Fantasy Football Weekly, which of
course you can hear on the fans Saturday mornings or
via the iHeartRadio app Fantasy Football Weekly. So we'll be
picking away at that, but I'll be up on I'll
be up on the porch overlooking the Masis with Zion
in the background, and it's all gonna be very peaceful
(25:00):
and warm, and it's going to be very nice.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
Thank you for asking.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
No, that's amazing. Thanks for the time that you give
me on Fridays. Thanks for the Thursday bits as well.
Hopefully we're able to do this. Whether it's next week,
I don't know what the buy schedule, bye week schedule
looks like, but whether it's Thursday, y oh, you do.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
Well, well, I know this.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
I'm in all day Friday, so I will be hosting
what's the Friday Football fees next Friday?
Speaker 1 (25:24):
Oh that's sweet.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
So I mean it's going to be absolute buffet of
fantasy bits and football conversation.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
Correct, correct, Yep, we'll be talking.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
About I don't know what you talking about. Hopefully hopefully
all win and you know that would helpful. We'll start
looking at an increasingly difficult schedule. What we should be
doing coming out of the bye What are the expectations
for JJ McCarthy. We'll be looking at playoffs, you know,
playoff scenarios already, good bad teams.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
There's tons of tons of great stuff to talk about
next Friday.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
No, that's sweet, looking forward to hearing that and looking
forward to our chats when they occur. Have an awesome
weekend and we'll listen for Fantasy Football Weekly. You record
it and then we'll hear it tomorrow's that's gonna be awesome.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
That sounds great. Thanks my friend talculator.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
Yep, thank you.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
That's Paul Charchie in and at Paul Charchi and viax
whether it's Fantasy Football Weekly, you heard it. During the
bye week. Next week he's going to be hosting the
Friday Football Feast. Both PA and I will be elsewhere
and just hopefully when you're having those conversations a week
from now, Like you said, teams three and two into
the bye team has a chance to get healthier. What's
(26:34):
up with JJ McCarthy looking for positive nuggets there as
he turned the page to Eagles week following the bye,
final couple of segments. Next, it's Nordo win for PA

Doctor Pa Friday feast of sorts if you will pa
over in London. You heard him chatting with Mark Wilfe,
co owner president Minnesota Vikings Wide Receivers coach Keenan McCardell earlier.
Also taking place earlier, head coach Kevin O'Connell addressing the media.
Shorty segment, but let's listen to a bit of the
head coaches presser from earlier today.
Speaker 6 (27:24):
All right, good afternoon, Just finished up our Friday practice.
I thought the folks here did a heck of a
job with the with the surface and we had a
little moisture out there, but team got a full day
of work and it was some good work. As we
get ready to play the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, it's
been a good week here so far, and hoping to
(27:46):
wrap it up here and just wanted to once again
take the opportunity to thank everybody here at Hanbury and
and all the people with the league and absolutely our
staff with the vikings for the multi kount of week
trip that they've put together for just giving you an
update on some game statuses. Donovan Jackson, Ryan Kelly, Michael Jurgens,
JJ McCarthy, Brian O'Neill, and Andrew Van Ginkel will be
(28:10):
ruled out, and then Tyler Batty, c J Ham and
Ben Eurosik will be questionable for the game. All three
of those guys, we're able to get some work or
really in Tyler and CJ's chance, they're they're healthy, and
we'll see what it looks like for the forty eight
to get those guys up and going. And then Ben
(28:31):
Eurosik was able to get some limited work in today
and is progressing and feeling pretty good.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
So we'll see how the group looks this weekend.
Speaker 6 (28:41):
Whoever, Yeah, I got a lot of confidence, uh, you know,
and in the group that we're going to put out there,
and they've had a good week so they're ready to go.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
Yep. It's you know, Wednesday, Thursday.
Speaker 6 (28:59):
Friday, we're out there, you know, very similar structure to
what we would normally have and outside of you know,
practicing where we're living.
Speaker 5 (29:08):
It's been, Uh, it's been very much the same as you.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Suppose.
Speaker 6 (29:14):
They even first, how you not let's play Brady when
you would play.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Since with how would you be? Was fuming the prize?
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Something that's helped you as a coach England see people
at some of the actors.
Speaker 6 (29:30):
Yeah, you know, it's it's a it's a unique part
of my football journey, specifically my first coaching.
Speaker 5 (29:37):
Job, and it really as a player.
Speaker 6 (29:40):
I had spent a lot of time with Mike Petton
when he was the defensive coordinator as the of the
New York Jets, and I was still a player, oddly enough,
being told I should think about coaching even when I
was a player, which isn't always the best thing, uh
to hear.
Speaker 5 (29:53):
And then pet takes a.
Speaker 6 (29:54):
Chance and gives me an opportunity to coach the quarterbacks,
and one of the quarterbacks in that room was Josh McCown,
who's now my quarterback coach here and does a tremendous job.
Speaker 5 (30:02):
But I learned so much that year, learned.
Speaker 6 (30:05):
Basically that fast tracking of what you think you would
be as a coach, and had to coach a room
and play a role on a staff and try to
help a team as best you can, even maybe with
limited experience.
Speaker 5 (30:16):
You're always learning on.
Speaker 6 (30:18):
The job and kind of learning that you know, trade
of figured out this which is unique and important to coaching.
Obviously the time around Tom Brady kind of started it all.
And it wasn't just Tom, it was coach Belichick, Josh McDaniels,
a whole bunch of really really unique special players on
that team that really, you know, everywhere I looked there
could be something to absorb and see that would help
(30:41):
not only in the president of my football journey, but
you know where I've ended up going with it in
the in the coaching space. And then Sean McVay is,
although I'm about ten months older than him, he is
one of my mentors and one of my very good
friends that has taught me so much about, you know,
being being yourself and being authentic as a head coach
(31:01):
and then trying to lead from a certain category that's
you know, built around integrity and how you treat people
and how you communicate with people you know, and and
and just getting the most out of players and really
all the relationships that you form when you get this
job said us maybe down in the home to Europe,
(31:22):
it's a little bit like stomach can Yeah. Well, I'm
probably the wrong guy to ask, just because I tend
to be, you know, pretty attached to where we're staying.
Speaker 5 (31:32):
And and and and what we have going on.
Speaker 6 (31:34):
But my highlight has just been seeing, uh, you know,
the players when we were in Dublin. You see them
when we got down the walkthrough on Saturday. You see
guys go out and you know, go around town and
and all them coming back with souvenirs and things, and
and kind of making the most of that trip.
Speaker 5 (31:52):
And then having been here, you.
Speaker 6 (31:54):
Know twice before, uh, playing in Tottenham here twice in
our first three years, this is our third time. Guys
kind of know what to expect. But at the same time,
they've really looked forward to the time together, whether it's
you go in the meal room at night, and you know,
normally when we're back home, you know, it can be
a pretty scarce crowd in there of just coaches and
some folks there for dinner. We got you know, every
(32:16):
every chair taken, and just the energy and the and
the vibes in the room. Although we're coming off not
winning a game. You wouldn't know it just by how
these guys work, how they have kind of committed to
bonding together.
Speaker 5 (32:28):
And I do view this in this day and age.
Speaker 6 (32:30):
We stay, you know, we have an unbelievable training camp
set up at our home facility.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
Our fans are right there.
Speaker 6 (32:36):
We have a wonderful place to stay every night, right
across the street.
Speaker 5 (32:40):
So this is a little different.
Speaker 6 (32:41):
This does kind of feel like true camp in a
lot of ways, but it happens to be in a
critical point in the season as we head into our
buy after this game, coach.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
All the little season and if you went a little swimming.
Speaker 5 (32:55):
And record right where you initiate, yea.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
Out of the teams feel like close any.
Speaker 6 (33:07):
Chinese Yeah, you know, I you know, I'm very fortunate
to have some players that kind of look at things
through a similar lenses I do, where you know, adversity
or challenges or obstacles are really just opportunities for growth
from a team standpoint, Where what can that mean to
you when you're able to overcome that some of those
(33:28):
things and find a way to win a game. We're
close to doing an in game last week. We didn't
do enough to get it done. And that would definitely
be the case with our other loss this year as well,
where we were you know, playing playing quite a few
guys in the offensive line and and and trying to
find a path to victory.
Speaker 5 (33:46):
We didn't do it in either one of those games.
Speaker 6 (33:47):
We did in our other two, and now we get
the fifth opportunity. But I'm a big believer if you're
you know, if you're if you're looking for obstacles and excuses.
Speaker 5 (33:58):
You're probably gonna find them.
Speaker 6 (33:59):
So why would we take the time and energy to
look And let's just focus on what we need to
focus on in the present. And uh, I think things
will work out for this team because of the type
of players and coaches we have, and and my confidence
level in the group is as high as it's ever been. Yeah,
I think he's gotten enough time now. It all goes
(34:20):
back to you know, that Thursday practice after JJ's you know,
high ankle spring where where he was able or really
when he had had his baby, and then the week
of preps, so he's really going on now his second
complete full week of preparation going into a start, and
just all those logs or logged reps are starting to
(34:40):
be where you can have some things to circle back on.
That's not just what you did in Philly or LA
or Kansas City or India or any any of the
other spots he's been. It's now, you know, I remember
this rep from a couple thursdays ago.
Speaker 5 (34:53):
I you know, I didn't see this right, and here's why.
Speaker 6 (34:57):
And then the dialogue of with us to him of
how can we make this fit your eye and fit
your comfort level the absolute best way we can, And
that's how we're going to do it.
Speaker 5 (35:07):
And we've got the.
Speaker 6 (35:07):
Type of players that can adjust and incorporate those things
at the skill positions and along the offensive line that
helps Carson hopefully just continue to be comfortable. First and foremost,
it's not going to be comfortable for one snap playing
against this defense on Sunday. We know that one of
the best in football. But at the same time, if
the guys in the huddle do their jobs and we
(35:28):
just get simple execution done at a high level, I
think we're going to compete and have a chance against
these guys.
Speaker 5 (35:35):
And that's the way they've prepared and that's very much
what I'm looking forward to see on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
That's head coach Kevin O'Connell with the media from earlier
today and you heard it. The laundry list of injuries
is long questionable.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
With CJ.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Ham potentially making his way back, still feels like he
has a great chance to play, but the confidence he's
going to put it out there, whether it's what you
need to say or how he truly feels the ability
to get reps in with the same offen defensive line
group for the totality of the week and just find
one way or another to keep Carson, as he said, comfortable,
and by comfortable, I'm feeling like upright would be uh
(36:11):
would certainly be one of the eight topics for the
coach in this offense into this weekend. We'll put a
rap on a final segment around the corner is next
nine to noon. Final segment nine to noon, Nordo And
for PA, what a fun week that it's been. Thank
you for listening to nine to noon and just from
the land of no air conditioning and awful Wi Fi.
(36:31):
Just the trials and tribulations of connecting with Pa and
company overseas throughout the week building up to a game
that in some ways feels anti climactic. Earlier you know,
in some ways am I being doom and gloom in
the trying to predict how this game.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
Is going to go? You focus on what you know
is in front of you.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
You know, for instance, I got a text message from
from Chris talking about, you know, Kevin o'connelly you here
in that press conference, just what he can expect maybe
from some second or third string offensive linemen, and how
that's going to relate to the game, how the coach
needs to adjust.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
You know, in the end, with.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
Everything that we've been talking about, harping on lamenting in
some ways tough gaming, and you just sometimes you get
rogers in terms of how Aaron was able to so
efficiently pick us apart in Dublin last Sunday. What an
opportunity in the end where on Monday morning we can
(37:31):
be opening up happy times, I mean back on our
feet again type montage as a team that's three and
two into the break, three and two into the bye week,
with a chance to get a bit healthier, with a
chance to turn this thing around into albeit the toughest
part of the schedule, and the Eagles are going to
be right there, right out of the gates, waiting for
(37:52):
us right health of McCarthy. We're going to be curious
about that, and you know, hopefully getting out of London
alive with healthy bodies as well, which is what an
awesome opportunity.
Speaker 5 (38:03):
Could it be?
Speaker 1 (38:04):
Ugly?
Speaker 2 (38:04):
I believe you know this thing has to you know,
joking about it could be the worst game you've watched
since that Vegas game a couple of years ago, really
in particular early where you want to see Kevin O'Connell
and this team assert themselves. And we've talked about it
one hundred times. Just yeah, scoring first matters, yes, being
efficient earlier matters, playing with the lead, the ability to
(38:26):
establish the run, I get it. But just something just
rabbit out of hat and the trust that I hope
you have in the head coach to find an answer
where we are not chasing the Browns on Sunday, and
the opportunity that's in front of this team, ragtag offensive
line as it is. Can Dallas Turner step up in
an opportunity again without without without Van Ginkel. All of
(38:51):
that is in front of us right now. But the
ability to go into the bye week you should beat
the Browns. That's how bad this thing is. That's why
the rookie mid rounder is starting. They're offensively impotent at times,
and as defensively strong as they have been. This is
a team that they should beat Sunday afternoon, London time,
(39:13):
Sunday morning here a local time, and I think that's
how we need to focus on this. Vikings are going
to win this game, ugly, pretty whatever it is. Can't
wait to watch it. Thanks for hanging out with us
all week nine to noon. The program, or the ten
of Fitzgerald, i should say, is taking you by storm.
Speaker 1 (39:30):
Next, have a great afternoon, great weekend.
Speaker 5 (39:32):
It's the Fan.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
Bye bye.
