Speaker 1 (00:00):
Fan.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
What's going on there, Alex? How you've been mister Alex?
Staylock things well? Happy birthday, Thank you brother. Alex, former
wild goalie is on this two week Wild Roading. The
team lost last night to the Kings four to two,
and it's great to have al joined the radio show
house TV Life. And did you buy a bunch of

(00:39):
suits for this two week TV run you're on?

Speaker 3 (00:43):
No, I did, as soon as I packed plenty of
jacket The issue was the shirts. And when you get
into the mess hall in these media rooms now, things
can get a little floppy. Kevin Gorg's kind of showing
me the ropes, the goods and the bags of these
mess halls. And I've had a mid trip stop to
pick up some new dress shirts, which was a must.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Okay, on a two week trip like this, our beloved
KG helping you through the as you say, mess halls,
and that's like Kevin, I mean, Kevin's going to make
sure you're all squared away. But the what do you
mean the mess halls? Like well, like we'll just describe that.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Oh, you get in the rink now post career and
you get into the media side of it. They got
a wonderful meal room set up for you. And yeah,
and Kevin, I think he's got him ranked one to
thirty two, and just so happened. Then we spent two
days in LA which is the top five mess hall

(01:42):
in the league, is what he referred it to. So
experience it with him and the likes of Joe O'Donnell
and the rest of the media crew are broadcast crew.
It's it's always an exciting time of day for those
in the media.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
What was it like for you, Al when when you
were in San Jose for the for the shootout loss
to the Sharks, Because I mean, you get you gave
them with Pavelski and Jumbo Joe and Logan Coutur and
so on. I mean you were a major, major part
of some pretty good teams there.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Yeah, I'd say more of a minor part with that group,
but I know it was fun to see still doing
a little radio work for them throughout the year. Uh
So you see a lot of familiar faces, especially now
down below. Like I said, in the media room, you're
run into a group of the guys that you're still
seeing throughout your on some trips and popping in with them.

(02:37):
So they were you know, you're getting ripped down there
just picking a side cut the cord. You hear a
lot of that, But it's always fun catching up with
the people in San Jose. They've been in their roles
for so long, and you know, when I was just
a young young kid essentially starting with development camps out there,

(02:58):
getting to meet uh, I mean a lot of those
people that are still there working to this day, says
a lot about that organization, and no, it's fun to
see that that team as well. It's come out of
the rebuild and start grabbing people's attention, especially with the
young maclin cell bringing the way he plays on a
nightly basis and now getting named a Team Canada as

(03:18):
a teenager. It's that the building in Santose is starting
to fill back up and it's exciting in the Bay
Area again to have a product that fans are looking
forward to watch.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Our mutual friend Kevin Gorg I mean, he's so by
far one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. You know,
I'm listening to your respond to that question, looking at
looking at Twitter slash x and like thirty seconds ago,
he puts this tweet out, Happy birthday, buddy, sixteen never
looked or sounded better fun hearing you with stay locked
three two this morning on the fan. Then this birthday picture.

(03:53):
It's unbelievable how quickly how he does this. So, Kevin,
I know you're listening, thank you very much for the
birthday wish and this picture and everything. Then that's really
really nice. I'm gonna like it right now so other
people can see.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
He is the greatest.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Uh, he's the best.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
He's so he's so passionate about everything and just just
just a genuine person, you know. I know he had
he had a great day on Sunday. We're fortunate enough
to stay in a nice hotel actually in Santa Monica
while we've been playing l A. So we leave here
today and flap Seattle. But these rooms have been multiple TVs.

(04:31):
I know he's at his his laptop up, he's got
horses going on his laptop. He's got one football game
on one TV, another football game on the other, and yeah,
it's been a great trip for him.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
What so what what what are you guys going to
do in Seattle? For basically me, I thought it was
like near it's almost like three days. It's like two
days and change. Up in Seattle, you gonna stop by
the Seahawks facility and, uh, maybe say hello to Sam,
the man who used to be on the fan used to.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Be there, was talk and potentially going to a cracking
game tonight. Joe O'Donnell brought that up on the bus.
They got the Bruins this evening. We get in up
there about two thirty three o'clock. So that's the decision.
I'm sure we'll talk about once we get on the
bus her and head to the airport. But Seattle facility, No,
it's probably tight, right They're probably keeping that tight right now,

(05:18):
and that would be a ton of fun to be
able to get up in there and see what's cooking.
I watched your coaches interview. It's kind of a fun
team to root for right now. And yeah, it's he
seems like a really cool dude, and players are playing
hard for him this time of year. But yeah, perhaps
maybe a take in a couple periods of a hockey game,

(05:42):
watch a cracking team that you know the while we're
playing in a couple of days, and you think back
to the game that recently was played out there that
they had been stun put on Zucarello and at the time,
the Wild started that game with eleven forwards and went
down to ten, and it was kind of hard to
answer the best well in that game. But we'll see
if there's any carryover in the game the while get

(06:05):
the come back into Seattle and see if there's any
follow up to that hit.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
What What do you like about doing hockey analysis on TV?

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Well, you're still involved in the game. I love watching
the game. Even when I'm at home with the kids,
I always seem to have a game on. Whether it's
a Wild, there's somewhere around the league, and there's still
some people that you know I played with that are
in the league, so it's fun watching them, but just
being around it. But being around the people talk about

(06:37):
like in the media room, seeing people down there or
up top of the press box. You know guys my
age that are starting to enter post career, and whether
it's the media side or they get into the hockey
ops side, you run into faces that you know might
have been a few years since you've seen them, and
just to catch up and see what route guys are
going post playing career. And it seems like every night

(06:59):
there's a couple of people you run into in a press
box that you never thought you'd see up there. That
part's enjoyable, but the actual on game part, and you know,
for a goal, you see the game so differently, and
we're always in the back of the play and the
play always happens in front of you for the most part,
and you know, nights you're not in there, you get
the best seat in the house, which I know you've
joked about before when doing Box in the Box you

(07:20):
always zoomed in on the bench on the far right
corner and took that picture and said, here's your spot
for tonight.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
The best.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
But yeah, the goal, I mean, you see so many
successful like Darreon Pang does so well, Brian Bouchet does
a great job. I think just goaltenders ability for how
they saw the game and they see a little bit
different than a player, and nights you're not playing, you
really get to take it in And yeah, I think
that's helped. And learning every night with Anthony and getting

(07:51):
help from Ryan Carter and pointers from guys that you
know have been doing it for a while has been
a huge help as well.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Do you wish the LAPAN to let you talk more
I always love that one. I'm playing with you.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
There's there's times I got Yeah. I mean it's it's
tough because you tag some stuff during game right and
you want to get to it, you really want to
show a certain play, a skill play, and then something
else happened. The penalty gets called, their goal gets scored,
and it's hard to get back to what you want
to show. And you know, it's learning that side of
it as well, and it's kind of the game within

(08:25):
the game is you.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Know, what what happened last night? For those who were
fast asleep when the game began, like close to ten o'clock, Hornfields,
what what happened?

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Yeah, I say it's seven thirty started puck finding jobs
like seven forty, which is nine forty back home. It's
hard for the viewers to stay up. No, I mean
it was a game that the Wild we're in and
starting to take control of the second period, and they
got two quick goals in the second and you know,
Kevin Field and Andre Kuzmanco started to show off some

(08:55):
of their skill and you know, if you all, anytime
he's playing against the Wild, feels like he has that
better urge to put a point or two up on
the board, while I had the ability to clib back
in Spurgeon scores to get it tight and and then
it turns back into a two goal game. But it
seemed like that was the scene both games and in LA.
It was a constant chase and a constant trying to

(09:17):
keep up with the Kings scoring. They were the ability
to do that in game one and got it to
overtime and into a shootout, but Game two just fell short.
That ran out of gas. And you know, it's a
tough team. It's a big, physical, heavy LA Kings team
and they don't give up a ton of scoring chances.
And I think the one thing in the while last
night they hadn't ended up with six power plays to

(09:38):
LA's won, and looking back on a game, I think
the power plays one thing they wish maybe clicked a
little bit better. You get that many opportunities got to
make a team pay in the National Hockey League, and
they had really brief five on three. But with that
being said, so far three one and two on a
road trip, you look at some of the teams are
going through right now, and anytime you come to the

(09:58):
West and you go through this Pacific Division, you know,
and to stop and Vegas and you look at you're
at this point of the trip, you have this many points,
I think you'd say you're pretty happy with where you're at.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah, I would agree for sure, with last night being
the first regulation loss of all of them. Alex Taylock,
former NHL goalie, including with the Minnesota Wild, South Saint
Paul High School Lutha Bulldogs hockey and analyzing Wild games
on television on this two week road trip, nice enough
to join nine to noon and you mentioned the power
play opportunities. Heartsy scored on a power play late to

(10:33):
make it interesting. You and Ryan have been pretty good
friends for years, havn't you. I know, you've got a
lot of respect for him.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
Yeah, hearts, he's great. He's uh, you know, he's a
smart veteran hockey player. Like the goal he got last
night's so crafty. And he's the guy that can play
up and down your lineup. And you're seeing that right now.
There's nights he's playing with caprisab and Zucarello, and then
there's nights he's playing with taras Anko and Henne Srilza
and you can play them all the way at the top.

(11:01):
You can playing depth, pat kills penalties. He's on your
power play. But no, he's one of those school guys
too as well in the locker room and he's always
down for whatever the guys want to do on a
road trip like this, And no, he's uh. He's definitely
a guy you want on your side and you want
in your locker room, especially during the important time of

(11:22):
the year once you get in the playoffs. He saw
how he stepped his game up in playoffs and he
becomes a different player. I don't want to call him,
you know, a Brad Marshall, because there was only one
of those in the league. But you get in a
seven game playoff series and by the end of the series,
I think he'll ask a lot of players who they're
glad they don't have to see anymore. And I think
Ryan Hartman will be on the top of that list.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Rumor has it, Alex stay Lock, you have a list
of Wild Wild players nicknames and if the if that
rumor is accurate, please hit me with some players and
let's see if I can nail them. For instance, Ryan Hartman,
it was easy to nail Heartsey uh Brock, Fair Fabes, like,
what what hit me? With some tricky ones?

Speaker 3 (12:07):
And I and I and I don't know if these
are fully concerned. I mean, I'm looking through the roster
right now.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Okay, so just give me their real name. Let me
see if I can get the nickname.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
Well, I'm not giving you the real name.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Oh I gotta get Oh, I see, you're gonna give
me the nick Okay, so you said pitter correct, yeap,
pitter pitter wild nickname pillock? Oh, Pittlick, bet a boy?
Well done, Nordo Pilick, you say, okay, who knew? What's next?

Speaker 4 (12:36):
Well, I mean, these these nicknames aren't going to exactly
be scientific here.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
So yeah, but I forgot Pittlick was on the team.
I was.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
I actually said it, questioning if he was on the
team as well.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
This is actually this is actually your bit oo, my bit, Yeah,
your bet so because you like the Heinzy, I mean,
you know.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
And Finchy Hinze and Finchy and stay Loxy. Okay, give
me give me another one. Joe Joe Joe Hanson.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
Yeah, well donegel.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
Who Bogo Bogo Agosian? Yes? Great, well this is this
all now? Nordo snuggled up next to his Mike. This
is kind of like your name is your buzzer. We'll
start from zero's going.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
Now, well, we all know Quinnisota. That's a good one.
I don't know if he's fully endorsed that yet, but
there's sure companies that already have that.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
Right, Quinnesota is the bomb. Whoever? It's easy, but I
mean it's practical, it's effective. Go ahead, go Nichols Nichols.
Oh yeah, is that five five? Do we have a
fifty five? Paul Damien Hunt? No, Nichols, Nichols Nichols, Oh

(13:51):
my god, yeah, five five?

Speaker 4 (13:53):
There Nicholas on the team or is it Nichols? And
who is five five?

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Nicholas? Eelers?

Speaker 3 (14:01):
You Gonnay David, you're a check?

Speaker 2 (14:03):
You're a check? Is he fifty five?

Speaker 3 (14:05):
Onto it?

Speaker 1 (14:06):
You're onto?

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Well done on the five five? Over there? Boy, I
think Nordo might be letting me win because it's my birthday.
Give us some more.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
Anymore? I mean the rest. I think we're running into
your stereotypical you're going zuki zuki, moose sturmyro cabes. I
mean from there, if you can't get it, then.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
What do you say? What about what about Wally is
Wally is Walstead Wally?

Speaker 3 (14:36):
Yes, and I think so. And I'm only ten days
in so and you know what, you know what they
have now? You know what they have now is when
I never had when I was playing, and I wish
I don't know how this just started. But they have
a player's only bus after games, which is incredible and
I don't have that's been around. Yeah, So the one
bus leaving the rank is you know, the coaching staff, media, medical,

(14:59):
and equipment trainers, and the other bus is only players. Well,
I can't believe. And that is new to this league.
And that's that's one of the greatest thing ever after
a game winner loss, Yeah, get on a bus with
just just your team. That's that's a great, great decision.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
That sounds like a COVID thing, like, Hey, nobody's going
to be around the players or the coaches. Everybody's going
to wear masks as they shower. And before you get
on the bus, there's a bio reference trailer where you
need to get swapped. And when you get off the bus,
there's a bio reference trailer so you can get swapobbed in. Yeah,
swab in swab in case the drivers a little dicey,

(15:36):
so that one remember those days. What about so Gus's
boss is a Gus buss?

Speaker 4 (15:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Bus?

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Yeah, what about Garren?

Speaker 3 (15:53):
I don't know what they're calling right now, meat balls maybe, yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Think that might be right. I don't get this wagon bit.
Is this wagon thing just a fan or is it
like wild wide, like the team's a wagon. I don't
get the wagon bit, just that the team is a wagon.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
I think it's a hockey term for it. And then
all of a sudden you turn into a yeah to
Quinn Hughes and now everybody's saying it's a wagon. You
go on a heater kind of like they have and
the real deal.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
But Alex, what's the wagon? I mean, like, like, what
kind of I think it's just a slang term. But
what makes a wagon special?

Speaker 3 (16:25):
I don't know. Yeah, I guess, I mean, yeah, right,
it's slang.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Well, it sucks. I mean a wagon is required to
have somebody tell you, which means you need assistance for
your success. It's a good point. It's a wagon, I mean,
it's well, I don't want I don't want to call
it a truck like a fire truck with all I
mean you got all the sirens and the lights, and.

Speaker 4 (16:48):
I think we would go nuts trying to dig into
and actually define some of the slang terms and pop
culture words.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
They can't roll.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
Around calling Carill the thrill though, what do they call
number ninety seven?

Speaker 3 (17:02):
I think that might just be Carill. I don't know
I added thrill.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
He's so good he actually supersedes nicknames.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
He doesn't need nicknames.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
It's just yeah, it's just Carill.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
Anybody else that we're missing, that would be tough. Probably
not Bo was a good one.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
All right, Well, gotgo stumped.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
So how many more do you have on the road?

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Here?

Speaker 2 (17:23):
Feels like you've been gone for a year. Seattle? Who
you know? I know?

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Tell me about it. Yes, we end, and we end
with Seattle on Thursday. If we stayed the night there
and then return turn back Friday as a group with
the from the West Coast, and just as your body
gets adjusted to the times on out here will be
coming back and be back throwing off. But I know
it's been a good trip, other than the weather here
in California, and when we've been here it's been rainy

(17:48):
pretty much the whole time. We got one good day
yesterday of sunshine, but uh ben quite a bit of rain,
which for this time of year out here is is
pretty unique. Well you know that California.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
In case I forget to text you later, off our
texting the other day, just without without over selling where
the bones are buried. Just remember this. I was chatting
with so and so and so and so is looking
for this to happen, which would be beneficial to the
wild winning. Oh I happened to be chatting with so

(18:23):
and so before the game, and what just happened was
explained to me this way. Laid it out perfectly, and
it happened from a schematic standpoint. You know what I mean?
How much man, take the take the access you have,
use it, share it with us on TV. All right,
I love it. So that's that's what I was talking

(18:43):
about the other day when I forgot to text you back.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
All right, I forgot to text you back, is right?
All right, we'll have a good birthday.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
I will. But you but you were so you were
so emotional when you were texting a texting. I know
that you got a lot of bit to you, so
maybe eighty percent of it was bit. But like with
hit Man and CJ. Ham stepping away from the game.
Your your texting was dripping with emotion. Man, Holy cow.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
Well you could hear it in your call as you
wrapped up your shawl, you could start you can almost
sense you were getting choked up. And well, I couldn't
see what was going on the field. We didn't have
the TV, so I was listening to the radio call
and then you know, everybody that came on it was.
It was an emotional end to you know, a run
that those two here in Minnesota have been u mm hm,
you know a huge part of and you know it's

(19:30):
uh always unfortunately going through it myself when it comes
to an end, you know what it feels like. And
for those guys, you know how emotional how they played
and how they you know, treated this profession, how fortunate
they were at yep, thanks for it to come to
an end in Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Yeah, I mean, and when you when you pay attention
to detail and you do it the way those guys
did it, which not everybody does in all of the
core four pro sports that includes the NHL, NBA, MLB,
and NFL, not everybody, but he puts in that kind
of time is a zero when it comes to the
off the ice or off the field problemometer where you

(20:08):
gotta worry about him a little bit. I mean, they're
zero's with that, and they're really really good at what
they do. Those guys, they're they're the assaults of the
earth man. They're both the genuine article. They're they're hard
to come across. So I could understand what you were
saying the other day. Man, all right, so we'll get
you on TV. We'll get you on TV Thursday, where
we're gonna listen to you call half the first period

(20:28):
and then we're gonna have to go. We're gonna have
to put Joe and Tom Reid on the surround sound
for a little bit to satisfy Abbott and like, like
if I were if I were Bursach or in your
role in like the NFL, would be like and he's
out of bounds after a six yard game, it's second
and four. Paul I was chatting with Kevin before the

(20:48):
game and he said, when it comes to running to
the right side from the left, hash, if you're able
to do this, he thinks it could be beneficial to
getting the running game going, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
A leading up to a game. All right, See, I
appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
Talk to him, see you man, Alex Staylock goaltending immortality
is the state of Minnesota, goes assalter the earth to
what an unbelievably kind So he's he's person.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
He's kicking butt. Does that make him a wagon you seeing?
Is he becoming? Yeah, because it's the potential to become
an analytical wagon.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
He's a wagon because you know, Anthony Lapanta still is
required to pull him along a little bit because Alex
is so new, so Anthony never lets him talk. And
then when it looks like Staylock's going to have a
long bridge to set something o, then Anthony will say, well, actually,
here's the reality. And then I'll lean back from my

(21:45):
TV and say, well, hold on, everybody be quiet in
this room. I've been waiting now sixty years to learn
the reality. Mead, the reality is coming. No, get me
some some papyrus and like something that'll be permanent and
it'll stand the test of time. Alex is naturally gifted

(22:06):
at this job. But likewise, for Ryan Carter wes Walls,
they're both naturally gifted. Carter's naturally gifted with the personality
is just so big Wes's personality is not super big
like stay Lock and or Carter, But if you listen
closely to what the captain is saying when he dissects

(22:26):
a play, I only cowt. Wes is one of my
favorite analysts the Wild have ever had. I really really
enjoy how he calls the game. So we're blessed to
have them in this market. Alex is doing it on
this trip. We'll have them on.

Speaker 4 (22:39):
We'll have Wes on again come NCAA tournament time, right,
and we'll double up hockey and hoops. I think with
the captain, that'll be a great spot.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
Yep. Then you get kg Man. I mean with the
way they're doing the road pre and post game shows
like in the stands or by the stands and on
the road, it's just very very good this presentation they're
putting out. Any get me to say a bad word
about Kevin Gore, period, he's one of my longtime best friends.
The elevator, well, yeah, he's not a wagon. I'd rather

(23:07):
be an elevator than a wagon. At least eventually I
get to go up and I don't need somebody to
pull me. I got God's cables to do it. And
pull me up eleven thirty two back after the Marsers APA.

Speaker 5 (23:24):
This is Steve down in Kansas City, And even though
I live seven hours away, have listened to you on
nine to noon ever since you went onto iHeart, So
I love the iHeart app able to listen to you
down here each and every day and love hearing you
call the Viking Games.

Speaker 2 (23:38):
You are the absolute best. Whatever hall of fame.

Speaker 6 (23:41):
There is out there for the broadcasters, you'll be in
them all when you're done, and you'll be on the
Viking's Ring of Honor. I'm sure you've done it so
long and so well. You celebrate your day and we
will celebrate you, my brother. Love you and have a
great day.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Oh I love you too. I put the headphones on
a little late. Who was that Steve in Kansas City?
By the way, I just state, Steve, tremendous words for
the host. Can you lend whatever broadcasting your communication equipment
you have and produce that talkback with yeah to our
former Friday Feast co host in Utah. Yeah, it wasn't
that nice? How good was that? How deep and rich?

(24:14):
And yeah it sounded so smooth? Man, it was a wagon.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
We'll play one more and then I got a would
flow go.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Bit for you.

Speaker 7 (24:21):
You're center, Jefferson to the right, Nailer to the left,
Addison slot right, Corey Cove, and Chris Hanty on the
other side playing the edge, waiting to jump pa for
his supple sides.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
He takes a snap, looks right.

Speaker 7 (24:34):
Looks left over the middle to Nordal for a first down.
A cold blooded connection by the birthday boy.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
Well done, young man, happy six zero. Welcome back to
this spot. Splot young man. That's nice man. It's my birthday,
so I get to do this ready. Yep, Cove left,
Halverson who's also selling a birthday slot left outside of
that seahawk with sauce outside of him. It's second and
three out of the backfield. Here comes juice Box. They

(25:00):
canned off to. Juice Box fires over the middle. Does
the quarterback caught by stink Stink of a great move
that is loose inside the thirty There goes Stink to
the ten to five touchdown. That's the only time I'll
call you stink. That's fine, that stink has no wagon
to it. See this is why we're nine and eight.

Speaker 4 (25:21):
You were talking about moments rising to good money that's
the worst call you've ever had, of all the great
moments you've ever had.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
Okay, it's my birthday, you can't say that. That's very true.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
Few teams in the NFLPA as we entered the offseason
are looking at tougher circumstances moving forward. Then a team
that we saw just a year ago. Here it is
the games on the line against the Arizona Cardinals. Three
receivers left, one right, fourth and ten for Kyler Murray

(25:53):
facing a five man rush.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
Kyler back to pass, throws right and dead. Yeahven Hass
won the game, and it's a high five for the
Minnesota Vikings. They won five consecutive games the finals, four,
twenty three, twenty two.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
Minnesota, Man, I shouldn't have played that.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
What happened?

Speaker 4 (26:20):
Didn't that five game win streak sound a lot cooler
that this year's five game win streak?

Speaker 2 (26:24):
Yeah, I mean it's like yesterday. It's it's I mean,
are we happy they won five in a row? Yes? Sure.
We adore and enjoy and have a lot of respect
for our tuesdays with Kevin O'Connell. Yeah, I mean our lot.
I mean the head coach of the team, man, the
former Coach of the Year gives us twenty five to
thirty five minutes every Tuesday to talk about anything.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
Sweet, So we missed those, and I happen to enjoy
Brian Flores Company quite a bit so, but yesterday was
just not the right time to be like five in
a row, four KO five in a row, four KO
five in a row, four B flow five in a
row for B flow just wasn't right. I couldn't. It's
when you said the way this season's ending, like this

(27:07):
is stupid, and you were mad and upset, and then
I got mad. Now all of a sudden, I'm looking
at what I crafted for the radio show before the
drive bys, I'm like changing it and everything because I'm
pissed off. Yeah, I just it hit me yesterday. I'm like, damn, man,
I mean, that's the beauty. That's one of the real
treats of God choosing. We get to do these jobs

(27:29):
because if we are frustrated in a way, specifically me,
where I could talk it out, like I can talk
out the therapeutic davenportal love because I'm like, hey man, yeah,
I mean, if there's even one person out there remembering that.
Late July all through August. I was like, call me
to the carpet on this. If it doesn't happen, I

(27:49):
expect the team to make the postseason unless ABC and
D happen and all of those are amazingly debilitating. See that.
But things are so convoluted with this wagon. It gets
so convoluted because some of the things I said that
would get me to back off said take happened. Yeah,

(28:10):
but I'm still not. I I still got pissed off
where I'm like, no, no, no, what we saw through
the five and a pharaoh, stop the DuVernay kick, Just
stop the Duvernate return and everything's fine. Yeah, I'm glad
we got it out. We did indeed a wagon and
that's where we are.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
It's nine in eight radio not go to the playoffs,
Arizona Cardinals having gone to the playoffs maybe in four
seasons something like that where they just got blitzkrigged by
the Rams who were in route two Super Bowl, so
that'll have been twenty twenty.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
One, would flow go.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
So we both have kind of stated our routes in
terms of what's next for the defensive coordinator. Whether it
be here, I still believe that that is favored, But
if he was going to go somewhere else, you know,
you're talking about the seven oh two. I've been thinking
about Pittsburgh. If that ever became an opportunity, we shall see.
But just a chance to look at these cards. Man
Jonathan Gannon, he went fifteen and thirty six over his

(29:05):
three years there, prior to defensive coordinator for the Eagles
and prior to that years before. He's slamming the glass
in the assistant coaches booth next to our voxbox Minneapolis
miracle style as DIGSI walked off on the Saints, but
now he's looking for new work. Cards were three and fourteen,
started two and zhero and then lost fourteen in their
final fifteen games.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Would flow go well?

Speaker 4 (29:28):
The first day on the job, pa He and monte
Asenfurt the GM of the Cardinals. They got to get
up to speed on this Kyler conundrum. So this is
courtesy of Pelisero. Murray and his contract were from the
prior regime. There's no easy exit. Pelisero says. Murray's dow
thirty six point eight fully guaranteed this next year, with
another nineteen and a half set to become guaranteed. If

(29:50):
he's on the roster March fifteenth, So it feels like
it's not if it's when and how that they're going
to move on from Kyler Murray. So would flow go?
Team needs a QB. So the Murray can under him
is probably at the top of that list.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
Okay, McCarthy can run, but he's not a running quarterback.
Right the the trucking of Keyshawn Nixon, you know that
that that got a little loud during the game broadcast
with with Lieber and Ursage and and I don't know, man,
maybe because I have a twenty two year old kid.
It's like you can tell them don't do that, and

(30:23):
they're going to do it. You can tell them don't
gritty at Dallas and they're going to quarter gritty and
all that. Eventually that that will if you think it's
an issue, now you know it's there's a there's a
fine line between letting somebody be themselves yet somebody not
embarrassing themselves. The nine thing embarrassed JJ McCarthy. Yeah, that's

(30:43):
why I hated it, and I think that's why O'Connell
hated it, because it's like, you put that out there,
ma'am and you're gonna get veterans around the league who
are like, oh, really, it's that easy. You can be
one team one time like this and you get to
do that. Everybody gets to love it. Nah, don't make
a mistake, because I'm an not I'm gonna nine year
ass for the next five years. So that's why stuff
like that is dumb. But when it comes to the

(31:04):
quarterback situation that you brought up and Kyler a, I would, well,
the money situation eliminates Kyler from potential veteran here unless
you do some kind of trade and get them to
take a fair amount of it. But I mean, Kyler
barely has the desire to be a starting quarterback. What
the heck s like like he's gonna want to be

(31:26):
a backup correct, So so so yeah, I looked at
that a little bit yesterday.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Too.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Low hanging fruit here with Gannon is is I know
Kevin likes him a lot. I can't say whether if
Flow goes somewhere like to Vegas to become the head coach,
I can't say that he immediately would move on Gannon
to become the defensive coordinator here because there are some
people inside the Covenant like defensive backs coach Deronte Jones.

(31:55):
I would talk to Deronte immediately. I mean, first, that's
a decide of the Flores scheme that somebody who from
a back end standpoint the DBS knows what has to
happen upfront to protect the back and vice versa. But
Jonathan Gannon things don't work out like with somebody in
house here, then Jonathan Gannon would be a defensive coordinating

(32:18):
candidate here.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (32:19):
I think he's well respected as a DC, most certainly
now to the Cardinals. So they got a trade. They
got to trade Kyler middle of the packing cap space.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
And nobody trading for Kyler.

Speaker 4 (32:31):
If you can get him for almost nothing, I think
you can.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
How do you do that?

Speaker 4 (32:34):
Well, I think the conversation is going to be is
that you're taking the Cardinals out of the next two
and a half years of total and utter cap hell.
I mean it's the same. I mean we could talk
similarly about TUA. You put the price low enough, somebody's
going to take it, and you are going to free
yourself of financial destitution.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Right. But subsequently I would be taking it on with
a guy who I don't think is bested enough to
I don't think he wants to start necessarily, as all
Marriae to starting, and he might be a backup somewhere else.
It's the money piece is going to be hard to move. Yeah. Well,
like with Cousins, the Falcons have an out right now
before the fifth day of the league year that it

(33:12):
ain't great, but it's not debilitating. There ain't no outs
with two or Kyler.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
Well, the outs are is it's going to be significantly
reduced compensation and you may have to hold on to
ten or fifteen of that, but you are saving yourself
potentially fifty million in dead cap plus the liability in
this case of another twenty on the back end.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
I mean Arizona Arizona. I get Arizona s out of
it ninety eight percent.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
Well, well yeah, so, I just I don't look at
it any I mean, with the way these caps go,
with the way these teams operate, I don't think you
can say anybody's technically immovable, right we Shaan Watson might
be a movie on stage.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
But I'm just for my personal taste. If I'm running
a team and I need a quarterback there the last
I call.

Speaker 4 (33:53):
I definitely, But again, would flow go as we've been
talking about the Cardinals. Carla Kyler would be somebody that
they got to figure out.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
So, but the NFL over the years has been so
predictable with its flip from Gannon defensive minded. All right,
we got to go get an offensive guy. You know,
I'm saying Zimmer defensive minded. All right, let's go get O'Connell. Well,
they went to Arians.

Speaker 4 (34:17):
I mean, this will be They've had three head coaches
in the last eight seasons.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
Steve Wilkes got Arians before Gannon.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
No, it was Arians, and then Steve Wilkes for a
year and then Kingsbury for four.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
Offense three for Gannon. Yeah, offense, defense, Yeah, they'll hire offense.
Pete Carroll not really branded as an offensive or defensive guy.
He was a defensive coach here back in the nineties.
He's more of a CEO type that named Flores. So
I don't yeah, I don't really know which way they'd
look at it. In Vegas.

Speaker 4 (34:50):
All right, Well, Cardinals are an awful team. Flores likely
wouldn't go there.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
Yep. I think for me, the Las Vegas Raiders are.
That's that's the only answer. If he leaves as a
head coach, I've just kind of reduced the whole thing
to that, but there could be more openings, and I
just hope by the time Glacio Dova Menza and Kevin
O'Connell addressed the media Thursday, I'm just hoping that there's
like some movement or some finality with.

Speaker 4 (35:15):
This something, just anything between now and Thursday. What's going on?
What's up with the bits? We pause and we'll put
a rap on the show after that. Akut Agu, thanks
