Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good to be back in the covenant, Holy Cow.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
That was a long journey abroad and we welcome you
to the full strength edition of nine to Noon at
KF A N. Good to be back in that glove,
coving that love covenant off a Minnesota Vikings victory at
wonderful Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Wonderful Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
I was thinking yesterday that now having called three games
at Tottenham Hotspur graciously by the Minnesota Vikings and four kfam's,
it truly is kind of a home away from home.
It's you know, you know where to go, you know
people's names that you've seen before at.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Certain security entrances.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
I didn't get a chance to be in line next
to a security line next to famed Harry Caine this
year and not know who he was, then be introduced
to him and then be like whoa, hey, I know
who you are. It was different on the sideline. No
Woody Harrelson, no Harry Kane. But plenty of festivities from
Tottenham Hotspury. Very very now I've probably said this before,
(01:06):
nor have you been there. Just a very well designed, beautiful,
detail oriented stadium. Yeah, whether it's on or off the pitch,
it's just a wonderful, wonderful stadium man, and good morning.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Good morning.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
No, it's it's it's so interesting when when you go
to some of the soccer stadiums you have the difference
between equity history it's aging a bit, that's that's one
side of the spectrum, and then this first class sporting
facility in some ways as americanized as it gets.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Right, Like you were up in Dublin.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
You're hearing about locker rooms, everything smaller, and they built
for Elijah Williams, Tottenham is and uh and what they
put together there is absolutely first rate. And the Vikings
it's it's kind of becoming a home away from home,
especially if you keep getting dubs at tottena two.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Hours of a bus rides in a nine hour flight
across the Atlantic.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Later and here we are.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Here we are with nine segments to talk out this
three and two record. Then the texts from Florio wondering
why I haven't read Big Shield and unfurl a festive
weekend rap courtesy of Hoffman Cooling and Heating. Because things
heated up late for the Minnesota Vikings and they ran
(02:29):
down a pesky underdog in the shape of the Cleveland
Browns on a starting a Sunday that ended up being
upset Leyden. I mean, whether it's Tennessee going to Arizona
and winning, then cap the day with Drake May, cap
the day with Drake May, cap the day with Drake
May going to Buffalo and beating the bills.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 2 (02:50):
I mean I forgot that game was taking three two
taking place because the time difference is just so wonky.
Where if you want to watch a game like that,
it's like one fifteen in the morning. But then we
lost Wi Fi on the flight across the Atlantic. Your
surely gets into settings. Now I have applications on something
called a doc jumping out of me in animated fashion
(03:12):
like it's early Halloween.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
And oh, there it is.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Hey, there it is the message the message application icon. Boom,
there it is. So after all of that, here we are.
We're back home at FM one hundred point three kfa
in and it's great to be here with a main man,
mad producer. After things heated up late and the pesky underdog,
the Browns. We're fixing to put an l on the
(03:36):
Minnesota Vikings, who were only favored by three and a
half It's not like they were supposed to win the
game by a wide, wide margin. But nevertheless, they got
the money, they got to the Winter Circle, and truly
that's all that matters. Into the bye week locker room
drive by starting with Carson Wentz and Justin Jefferson our
next segment, and speaking of surging late to victory, the
(04:00):
champs were run down by some bucking Broncos and are
undefeated no more.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Broncos go without a huddle. Knicks rolls to his right,
stops throws, pass, pun have anyone with the catch, dive
for the goal line touchdown. Denver and the Broncos are
going for two here oo. This would be the first
two point conversion of the year. Oom play fake Knick
rolls to his right, cos.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Above the in zone. Frightlin has it. Two point conversion
is done.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Hey, the Broncos in front eighteen to.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Seventeen weekend wrap Hoffman cooling and heating, hoffmannheating dot nep.
Denver went to the den of the champion and outscored
seid Birds eighteen zero over the final thirteen minutes of
the game and improved to three and two. Meanwhile, the
Philadelphia Eagles are trying to become the first team to
(04:57):
go back to back in the NFC East and twenty years,
two decades, maybe two decades plus. Well, then Birds fell
to four and one Minnesota hooks the Philadelphia Eagles out
of the bye week. That's a week from two weeks
from yesterday, a week from this upcoming Sunday and at
the palatial purple paradise known as US Bank Stadium. Weekend
(05:19):
wrapping has us a bit gob smacked with this one.
The vaunted Baltimore Ravens are one and four.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
DJ hands out the Chubb through a sea white side
hat of twenty the fifteenth ten five.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Chub rock and roll.
Speaker 5 (05:35):
Touchdown Houston, Nick Chubb to the house.
Speaker 6 (05:39):
It was all made possible by the block of his
Xavier Hutchinson. He cleared out a linebacker I think it
was Buchanic and just bodied him up, moved him, shielded him,
and it was an easy read for Chub.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Then it was just.
Speaker 6 (05:58):
Escape outside and turn on the after burners.
Speaker 7 (06:02):
C J.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Stroud, quarterback for the Texan Texans, had absolutely his best
game in a couple of years. My man went for
four touchdowns and zero picks and just chewed up high
key one of the game's worst defenses in the Baltimore Ravens,
who also were without Lamar Jackson. Back to the NFC, Well, well,
(06:25):
lookye here the Saints found the winner circle.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Two receivers for darks.
Speaker 5 (06:31):
Right, two to his left, say spring five fires it
picked off, picked off by the Saints.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
Glad the kidstry at the forty five and he goes
to celebrate. The first one ended a drive at the five.
That one he just left and ended that drive for
the Giants. How about five turnovers and bunches?
Speaker 7 (06:54):
Baby wow?
Speaker 2 (06:56):
First win of the year for whodach whodack, first win
of the year for who'd at? Which threw it back
to the eighties? Well, throwback game to the eighties, and
there has nothing to do with uniforms or the fleur
de lys. They threw it back to the eighties with touchdowns,
including one to Rashid Shaheed for eighty seven yards and
(07:17):
a fumble recovery touchdown by safety Jordan Holden from eighty
six out big Blue, cough that thing up five times,
the box said five times, And turns out the Jackson
Dart pandemonium was short lived.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
PJ.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Fleck joins the Covenant around ten forty five and sadly
the news out of Columbus was not great.
Speaker 8 (07:40):
Takes a handoff, fakes a reverse pitch, looks to throw, pulls,
the trigger goes deep down the right side, wide open, tight,
and the end zone score forty four yards.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Through the air.
Speaker 8 (07:48):
Julian's saying to carneal Tate, who got behind corner?
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Zekwan Bryant, Wow, that's a kick in the old momentum.
Purdue is here Saturday and is winless on the road,
while Pj's team the go First are three to zero
at home and aim to turn that brown upside down.
Golden Gophers hockey split with Michigan Tech to start the
season and give it up for Rico Blasi and his
(08:13):
Saint Thomas Tommy's that hockey team beat Saint Cloud State
and Saint Thomas is ranked nineteenth in the country.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Well done, Tommy Nation.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
That's the weekend wrap provided by Hoffman Cooling and Heating
and Hoffmannheating dot Net.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Can I offer one additional nugget? Please do the Hoffman
Heating and Cooling weekend raps better than a coven and cleanup.
It's one of the most insane ways that you could
potentially fumble a game, lose a game. Whatever happened with
the Cards yesterday, disastrous down in two.
Speaker 8 (08:46):
On the cardinal twenty yard line, down nine, Blake Clockett seven.
As they break the huddle, two receivers right, two to
the left, Blake Clockett two. It's at one snap Toward
drops back to throw, steps up in trouble. Far Aside
keeps the play alive, throws.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
Left side, picked off, hit the five yard line by rabbit.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
And he buffles the ball into the end.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
Zone and it's recovered by Tennessee and it's a touchdown
for the Titans, recovered by Tyler Lockett. Oh my goodness,
Taylor Demerson picked it off, tried to get up and
run with it, and he coughed it up and the
Titans score a touchdown. And it's twenty one to eighteen
with four thirty nine to go.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
So they went from being up twenty one six in
the fourth. Yeah, Imari de Mercado has what is a
absolute runaway seventy some yard touchdown, does the classic flip
the ball away bit and like the one inch line
for a fumble out of the end zone, could have
gone up twenty eight to six and then cam Ward
(09:51):
throws a pick, dude fumbles it, finds his way to
the end zone. Tyler Lockett. They would eventually kick a
game winning field goal. Unbelievable way to lose a game,
maybe one of the most embarrassing losses in that franchise's history.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
I wouldn't be surprised to take that leap, or I
wouldn't be shocked if that leap taken. We're to be accurate,
because it's very interesting what you just said. What we
heard in that call was that the Cardinals or Titans
radio network.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
That sounded like Pash, I think it was hard.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
That's what I thought, well, because when you know when
you're on a nine hour, three minute flight with moderate
to severe chop over the Atlantic before you lose internet,
I mean, I think I probably watched that highlight three times.
I think I looked at every box score four times,
tried to figure out how to get my apps on
my doc to stop jumping out of me because I
(10:43):
hit a bad button.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Old people do that.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
But what Dave Pash said, playing into what you said
about the shocking nature of the upset, despite this league
being an upset laid in the league, the Ravens are
one in four New England went to Buffalo and won
a football gamer. You're getting me, it's it's Demercatto was
the one who intercepted it, right.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
Demercatto was the running back who fumbled it away. Let
me let me try and find those Okay, so the
bird who intercepted it. The first thing when when we
were on a bus from the tarmac to Twin Cities
Orthopedics Performance Center to get our suitcases and stuff, is
I watched that highlight with you know, somebody deeply rooted
(11:25):
within the Covenant, and the first thing they said was
you got.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
To go and it's like four minutes left. You got
to go down there. You know, you can't intercept it
and think you're going to run and be the hero.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
I think it was Daydreon Taylor Demerson was the name
of the picker, and the picker as I was told,
you have to go down there. That's that's putting valor
as the better part of discretion. Okay, I understand, But
I mean if my man throws it to me and
I got an open lane and I see the ends,
(11:57):
I'm probably running. And it has nothing to do with
selfishness or lacking self awareness or yes, yes, it does
involve not being completely.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
In tune with game situation and clock and score.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Sure, it's kind of like the you know, when so
and so runs up the middle or runs outside, he's
inside the five to the three to the two, No
go down right, make them music. Yeah, you're right, But
unless that's talked about, and unless you know those are
the mandated rules, then it's you've heard me say it before. Sadly,
(12:32):
sometimes human nature gets to win two. So yeah, if
he intercepts it and goes down the upset does not happen.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Well, it's it's an inexplicable fumble. He's out of control
as he's catching it, rolling to the ground, but he
wasn't touched. How about your.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Guy who kicked it? You Yeah, that's a complete al.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Alberson running a loose thirties kicking the football, who brought the.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Clydesdales onto the field?
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Echoes stick to the sky sport wire and splashing on X. Okay,
and stop kicking the oblong eye object.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
I think grand scheme. You want you want a player
to be empowered with his instincts. There's a similar, even
more egregious situation would be if he had caught it
in the end zone.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
It's the classic, like you got a Neil for the touchback.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
But then once in a while somebody thinks that they're
Patrick Peterson. Yeah, but see Caleb stopped at the six
or something. But Caleb Johnson was on a buy so
therefore they didn't really have to worry about the Caleb
Johnson's of the world messing things up with end zone
related plays and whether should I stay or should I
go now? So in the end, it's again one of
(13:32):
the most egregious losses that Via highlights the combination of
the fumble at the goal line. Our guy Jonathan Gannon,
by the way, just let de Mercado have it on
the sideline. Yeah, de Mercado's he's kind of leaning. He's
being consoled by an old lineman. It was number seventy maybe,
and Gannon came up to him and just dressed him down.
(13:55):
One hundred and sixty decibels on the sideline. Pretty ugly
in Arizona for them right now, for the.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Whole world to see. Thanks for the addition the audible
the one A for the weekend rap provided by Hoffman
Cooling and Heating Hoffmanheating dot Net Quality Company quality staff
owner Scott Hendrix loves himself some purple, so he had
to be enthralled with the four point win over Cleveland
yesterday out London Way, and we fade the music and
(14:22):
fire up nine to noon because here's the deal. Fire
off some talkbacks for the Covenant. Talkbacks for the Covenant.
You know what to do. You all are elite football mind,
so go ahead and create the subject matter if you
are so inclined, or maybe a playoff this slash these
the A topic with the Minnesota Vikings victory was the
(14:43):
makeshift Minnesota Moving Company and yes wentz Addison, Jefferson Hawkinson.
They were their best when their best was required. But
in all my years calling games for this team, never
I witnessed the fortitude and results provided by a bevy
(15:06):
of Moving company part timers.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
You know they into the game.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
The Vikings had had twelve different offensive line combinations through
four games. Well that ended up being thirteen when darisaw
leaves on the snap count and Rouse goes to right
tackle in school goes over the left. So they've used
thirteen different offensive line combinations through five games, which is
absolutely absurd. Major major credit goes to somebody I know
(15:35):
that you like a lot from our interviews at the
facility at the TCOPC. You know we major credit goes
to offensive line coach Chris Cooper and assistant Keith Carter.
Now last week, you know, when there really wasn't much
to do, I sat on a berm at Hanbury Manor
and watched more practice than I have in years, And
(15:57):
generally I would I would hunker down, I would find
a spot adjacent to where the offensive line was executing
its toil. Watching Cooper and Carter work with Joe Huber,
Blake Brandell justin School and Walter Rouse, it was mesmerizing
because you kind of knew that they're putting the pedal
to the metal here because these guys are not only
going to play, They're going to play a lot, and
(16:18):
they're very important unless you want to go into the
by two and three and drill after drill after drill
after drill, getting those guys ready for this rough and
tumble Browns front seven. Then Darisaw departs as part of
the recovery plan and Walter Rouse hits what right tackle
with School switching to left and all that while contesting
(16:40):
Miles Garrett, who, along with Aiden Hutchinson, absolutely absolutely make
up best in show when it comes to the overall
nature of pass rushers, Miles Garrett, Miles Garrett's unbelievable. I mean,
you watch back some of these replays and like stuff
up to the game.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Oh strong and so fast and so smart.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Brandell was playing center again in a game for the
first time in his football career maybe life at any level.
And Huber was undrafted and outside of a penalty. Get this,
Joe Huber undrafted Wisconsin. Now there was a penalty they
probably could do without rather late, but he outplayed Mason Graham,
(17:23):
the fifth overall pick in the twenty twenty five draft. Yeah,
I know what I said, go back and watch it.
I had nine hours to watch it, and he did.
Cooper and Carter work so diligently this week with Walter Rouse.
There were times because Darisaw did he was a he
was a d n PA did not practice Wednesday and Thursday,
(17:46):
but it was the rest bit part of the recovery plan.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
So nothing to see here, so to speak.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
And Cooper and Carter, the offensive line coaches, worked so
diligently this week with Walter Rouse, there were times I
wonder if he was like starting and there was a
problem nobody was talking about left guard Joe Huber making
his first start. He came up huge on two of
the game's biggest plays. On the late hit to Jefferson,
(18:12):
he held his ground so Wentz had a clean lane of vision,
and on the game winner to Addison, he got to
Miles Garrett just in time to shove him out of
the way so the Vikings could win the game because
Garrett was fixing to run around somebody and then hubert
last ditch effort boom pushed him. Wentz Addison, Wentz make that.
(18:37):
Addison goes from the outhouse to the penthouse, and the
Minnesota Vikings go to the winner circle. Thirteen different offensive
line combinations through five games. It's for me. It's unheard
of talkbacks after drive bys. Get on in here, family,
It's the free iHeartRadio app. Three to two, It's the
free iHeart Audio app. And yes, there are plenty of
(18:57):
knits to pick with the turn and penalties and Addison
getting bench for a quarter, and we are here to
smash on those two. Addison went from the outhouse to
the penthouse. But that indeed doesn't mean all were enthralled
with what led head coach Kevin O'Connell to bench him
for the first quarter, said Justin Jefferson after the game, quote,
(19:20):
it's a difficult situation. I definitely have my words with Jaa.
It's just all about growing up and just being part
of the team and knowing the stakes, knowing that he's
a valuable part of this team. It's more about the
team and more about just us as a whole, not
focusing individually on ja So that had some leadership qualities
(19:47):
to it for number eighteen, Justin Jefferson eighteen bona fide leader.
Well done and by the way, well done Kevin O'Connell.
You know there are those who would not see the
forest for the trees and would have started Addison because
he's good and they desperately needed a win. And there
are those who would have jettisoned the Darrosol recovery plan
(20:11):
and kept him in the game or maybe put him
back in the game because he's good and they desperately
needed the victory. But O'Connell stuck to that plan and
showed the team I'm not afraid to bench one of
the most pivotal players, Addison became a bit dodgy, and
O'Connell was anything but cheeky with his feelings about the situation,
(20:34):
and that.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
Was kind of eye opening yesterday night.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Right, all right, talked backs in thirty or so bike
spites later, PJ Fleck around ten forty five, preceded by
the Analyst and followed by young Parker, who's all a
twitter over the Purple Victory. Next our patented locker room
drive bys, and we start with quarterback Carson Wentz roll
(20:58):
into Justin Jefferson and then chat with four members of
the Makeshift Minnesota Moving Company.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Thank you timber Tech for the nine to.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Noon What's on deck and thank all of you for
listening to nine to noon, which is return to full
strength always were that's debatable. Drive buys are next, but
right now, ord' got some money to give away and
good morning.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
Good morning the Fan and two men in a junk
truck want to give you a shot to win some
bonus box with the National Cash Contest. All you got
to do go to kfan dot com and enter the
keyword credit for your shot at winning. That's KFA dot
com and the keyword is credit.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
The drive bys after victories and some losses. I'll walk
around to the locker room, well the makeshift contraption that
goes into my phone, hoping that the connection to the
bottom of the phone doesn't become wonky. So nineteen minutes
of drive bys are not jettisoned. That was not the
case yesterday. Everything was intact, including quarterback Carson Wentz where
(22:06):
we started with him. Walked up on Carson and said,
you know, Kevin O'Connell has been known to say, give
us your best when your best is required, and Carson
and the Makeshift Minnesota Moving Company did that.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
And here's Carson's response.
Speaker 9 (22:24):
Good team win. Honestly, the way guys were resilient, next
man up mentality just continues up front. Those guys fought
their tails off and just to finished way we did.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
It was awesome and I'm.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Really glad you said that with the Makeshift Minnesota Moving
Company because you start with three starters down, Derosol's on
a pitch count, so now you stick to that school
flips Rouse comes in and you win the game.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
How about those guys. It's unbelievable.
Speaker 9 (22:46):
I mean, how many people can switch sides playing tackle
in the middle of a game. Let alone going against
arguably the best in the world on the other side
of the ball in Miles Garrett. So hats off to Justin,
hats off to Hubert stepping in today, Walt coming in.
Guys played their tails off and when mad at the
most guys stepped.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
Up last one brother and your your playmakers came through
at the end. I mean you had to get it there.
But this guy right here, Jordan Addison walks off on him.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
TJ.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Howkinson with some huge catches and Jefferson over one hundred yards. Man,
I'm just so blessed to play with guys like that.
Speaker 9 (23:15):
It's unbelievable, unbelievable. This crew is special. Makes my life
easy's just giving them chances to make plays. We miss
him today, definitely wants them back. I can be better too,
but those guys are special. That's an elite group. And
glad we got it done the way we did. Congratulations,
But thanks Pa, God bless God bless. Carson Wentz, quarterback
for the Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Vikings as the as the Vikings beat the Cleveland Browns
right at the wire, justin quick drive by real quick,
more than one hundred yards today got to the right
of you Jordan Addison walks off.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Hockinson made some big catches late.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
But seriously, the a topic here man is what I
call the Minnesota moving company, the offensive line.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
It was a makeshift moving company.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Three fists down, then darrisa on the pitch count and
school to flip during the game and Rolfs comes in
and you guys win.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
How about those guys?
Speaker 10 (24:05):
Kudos to them. Definitely, a big big shout out to them,
you know, without them and without their relentlessness and you
know they're they're eager to fight and not really you know,
you know, hang their heir versus the adversity, especially with
a group you know like that with Cleveland, Uh is
they start everything. They're the start up the train and
(24:26):
uh they make everything go. So definitely, you know, a
big big shout out to the olone.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
And justin, I don't want to slow you down. Last
one here man.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
We got jets with us and you know we we
either saw it practice or heard all week. Hey, you know,
Cleveland's got this nice front seven Miles Garrett and Miles
really good.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
But they like to play a lot of man, which
they did.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Because my take was like, if you're gonna think you're
gonna single eighteen three, eighty seven and or one the
entire game. Eventually they're gonna get you. And they stuck
to it. You go over one hundred to move the chains,
they stuck to it. So I guess credit to them
for doing what they do. But but you ended up
with a big game to that.
Speaker 10 (25:02):
Yeah, man, I mean we we said it this whole
entire year. You know, we have so many different weapons
and so many different playmakers out there on that field. Uh,
we just need to give it to them and let
us work and do everything else on his own. So,
you know, a big shout out to the old line,
big shout out to you know, Carson for even facing
that adversity, getting hurt in the first half and still
(25:23):
coming back and finishing the job. So uh, it was
just a relentless win. And uh really, you know, kudos
to this whole team for keeping our head up and
not really you know, hanging out here, you know, which
you know, it's countless times we've been through this, but
it's just over and over again that we're we're facing
adversity and we're still attacking the head on.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Justin God bless you man. Enjoy some downtime, okay, And
I got to say, man, you and I have done
a lot of these drive bys. This is the first
free chain Justin Jefferson I've ever seen.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
I mean, those things are beautiful. Man, you want one? No,
I want to.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
I appreciate you, but I'll take the victory today. Thank you, Agen,
love brother, much love Justin Jefferson at A. I had
a big, big game today and Jordan Addison caught the
uh the game when he touched down. Let's walk around
with these uh with these drive bys and where we're
gonna go here? Walk over here real quick, he will.
(26:16):
How you doing up? Just quick drive by from your announcer? So,
I mean the offensive line as I gos the A
topic today, man, I mean you're down three fifths all right,
So you've started every game, you know, but then you
tell us when like, uh, like School, he's right tackle
flips over the left because darrisol is on the pitch count.
How difficult is that to like change positions like into
(26:39):
the fourth quarter. Uh?
Speaker 11 (26:40):
Yeah, it's super tough and it takes a lot of
you know, mental toughness too, And for School to be
able to do that and play at a really high
level is speaks a lot about you know, his preparation
and just his character and his you know, willingness to do
anything to help the team. So just hots off to
him for doing a great job no matter what he's
asked to do and doing it at a high level.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Two and uh and you know calling the games on
the radio forever, I've called the offensive line in the
Minnesota Moving company was the makeshift moving company today. The
guy that you're right, Blake Brandell, never played center in
a National Football League game. You leave with the money,
you get all the pounds. The guy to your left
is justin school. You got Joe Huber, rookie from Wisconsin.
And then we talked about Rouse and and stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
I mean, what an effort by you guys.
Speaker 11 (27:20):
Yeah, I think it starts with Blake step being at
center and a guy that is super smart's super tough
and willing to do whatever it takes to help the team,
and like it's not easy to step in there and
never having done before in a game, and he played
super well.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
I'm so pumped for Blake.
Speaker 11 (27:35):
We'd already talked about justin flipping from both sides, but
having such a deep group and it helps Walter can
come in there do a good job, knows what we're
supposed to do. And then awesome for Joe, you know,
undrafted guy who's able to, who just had a great
camp to prepare it every single day, super hard, just
keeps getting better and from me on his first start,
you know this quick in his career. He's just gonna
keep a sending and he's gonna be, you know, continue
(27:56):
to develop into a great player.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
Man.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
I know you went through a lot in the off
season of recovering from injury and it's great having you
here and to enjoy your downtime.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
Okay, thank you, appreciate it well.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
Frize starting right guard for the Minnesota Vikings. Justin we
call these drive bys. We just hit people just with
a couple of celebratory questions. But you tell us what
it's like, all right. I mean you started a right tackle,
you flip over the left into the fourth quarter. That
was part of the plan. Deris saw on the pitch count.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
What is that like?
Speaker 2 (28:26):
You know when you probably practice at multiple spots during
the course of the week. But I mean this is
Miles Garrett and a super well respected front seven.
Speaker 12 (28:33):
Yeah, I think It's just part of the job. I mean,
they do a good job getting us reps all around
at different spots, and so credit to the coaching staff
for making sure all of us are always prepared for
whatever role that is asked of us. And it just
comes down to reps. And so gotten plenty of reps
with Joe throughout training camp and then throughout the weeks
throughout the season, and then the last couple of weeks
gotten them with spot Will as well, and so just
(28:55):
kind of get keeping that continuity and the more reps
we can get with each of the guys helps school.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Final one here and you know you you you joined
the team from the Buccaneers. Okay, you started games before
in the NFL, but I mean, enjoy your downtime here, man.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
I mean you had to miss a game. I think
it was a concussion.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
And you've played left tackle, you've played right tackle, you
played right tackle, flipped the left tackle during the game.
Had you ever changed positions like that during a game?
Speaker 12 (29:21):
Not in that not like with that game being that close.
I had done it later in a game when the
game had gotten out of control, trying to take like
veteran guys out. I'd moved, but not in that point
with the game being close like that before.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
I appreciate you man, enjoy your downtime. Thank you. I
appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Justin school, right right tackle and left tackle, the Blake,
the Minnesota Moving Company, the Makeshift moving Company.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
That's my a topic.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
I mean, Carson, like O'Connell, always says, be your best
when your best is required.
Speaker 6 (29:49):
He was.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
Jordan sits out the first quarter. He was at his
best when it was required. He wins the game.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Reiker hits the extra point, Jefferson over one hundred. I mean, okay,
so they're a lot of but it's that offensive line.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
Man.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
You came into it with three fists of the starters down.
You're playing center for the first time in the NFL.
When's the last time you played center?
Speaker 1 (30:08):
Period. I've never played center in a game. That was
my first go around, believe it or not.
Speaker 13 (30:12):
Yeah, So just scout team, you know, practice and uh,
you know, trying to work on the craft and make
it so I was ready whenever I was needed.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
So so what was that like?
Speaker 2 (30:22):
I mean, because you know, like you said, you've done
it a lot in practice, training camp and stuff like that,
but you know this is against a super well respected
front seven that Michigan rookie Mason Graham, you know, taking
fifth overall, Malie Collins, like eleventh year man, he's a load.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
Holy cow. What was it like today?
Speaker 13 (30:39):
I think what it came down to was leaning on
the guys to the left and right of me. And
I think that's what we all kind of did, you know,
played as a unit, played together Ko preach staying connected
this week as a team, and I think we did that,
and we especially did that as an offensive line, and
you know, just trusted each.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
Other and uh, you know, no one quit. It was
it was.
Speaker 13 (30:57):
It was an awesome game, super emotional and uh, we're
all really really proud of each other.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
Lastly, you've been around a while now, so I mean
you've been in practice and seeing cam Akers throw before
he was five of eight for ninety seven yards of
Florida State. O'Connell's always been infatuated with his arm all
the way back to the Rams days. To finally get
that call out of the wildcat and then he hits Oliver.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
How great was that? That was? That was awesome?
Speaker 13 (31:21):
And you know, we it was game planned and I
had a ton of a ton of faith in Can
making the throw. But you know, we had two polers
and so I'm pulling around and I think it was
Spud right next to me, and just seeing Jo kind
of just oh, he's out there, and I see the
ball go over a head.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
I'm like, no way, it worked. So that was awesome.
Speaker 13 (31:39):
And props to Cam, Props to Jo, props to everybody,
Props to the coaches.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
It was awesome.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
Hey, man, I know you guys are on the grind
day to day and it's human nature to like look
at mistakes and try to correct them instead of thinking
about accomplishments. Enjoy yourself during the off time, man, because
that wasn't easy what you accomplished today. You I mean,
you had your training camp as a guard was fantastic
and you were the center today. So enjoy some downtime
and congratulations you bet.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
I appreciate it. Thank you, Lake Brandell.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
He was the center today for the Minnesota Vikings, victorious
in dramatic fashion over the Cleveland Browns. Carson Wentz HiT's
Jordan Addison at the end of the game to win
the game. But the A topic from yours truly is
the Minnesota Moving Company and the way it performed Donovan
(32:26):
drive by real quick. I know you didn't play, but
my a topic for this game is what I call
the Minnesota moving Company. I've called it for all twenty
four years I've called games the offensive line. It was
a makeshift moving company. Today, you're super tough. You play
through that risk knowing you had surgery and on the
horizon so hopefully you're back right after the buyer somewhere
around there. But the guys in your room, how about
(32:48):
the way they stepped up today?
Speaker 14 (32:49):
Yeah, no, that was huge, you know, having a room
full of guys who are ready to go in a
moment's notice, and not just go, but flip from left
to right. I think people don't understand how hard that is,
flipping from right to left or right or left to right,
because that's usually flipping your brain of what every play
is called, and that's different techniques. There's different muscle groups
firing off on one edge, so props off to like
(33:10):
school Blake, of course, and then Walter flipping sides doing
different positions because that's very difficult, and they did at
a very high level. And Joe filling in and he
bawled his ass off today and so it's it's it's
just a testament to our room.
Speaker 6 (33:25):
Man.
Speaker 14 (33:26):
You know, there's adversary everywhere, and you can you know,
coach O'Connell always says, you can find the excuses everywhere.
But our job is to protect. Our job is to
you know, move the line of scrimmage. And I feel
like everyone in our room has that type of mindset.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
You You ended up with four fifths of that starting
offensive line down. It was the twelfth different offensive line
combination into the game thirteenth. When you start moving people around,
and if the moving company doesn't come through today, you
guys don't win the game. So that's your room, ma'am,
and you guys should be very proud of what you did.
Enjoy your downtime. Okay, thank you Donovan Jackson, rookie for
(33:57):
the Minnesota Vikings. Let's let's roll over here. I'm a
look at this, Look at this? Hey, how about him
right there, sir?
Speaker 1 (34:04):
Po Ryan Ryan, Holy cow.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
I mean you've heard me say this to you after
games before, like Chicago. All right, that last punt you
had with the hangtime and everything. I came up to
you not doing a drive by, and I'm like, they
needed that like they needed to breathe seventy seven. That's
the longest in the history of the team. Man, Has
anything changed during the course.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
Of the week.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
You've always been good, But like I think I was
talking to Dolman, the assistant special teams coach, and he's like,
you know, you know, we're doing different things with Ryan
on Friday closer to the game, stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
It seems to be helping. Yeah.
Speaker 15 (34:39):
I mean, this whole offseason and leading up to this week,
I've just really focused on my drop in my line
and just being more consistent punter and fixing up some
of those struggles that I've had in the past couple
of years.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
Ryan right punter for the Vikings with a drive by
final one. Enjoy the downtime. I mean, it's only five games,
but it's training camp and OTAs and everything, and you know,
I was just chatting with Blake Brandell about this where
you guys and coaches are so dialed into fixing and
looking at things that aren't right and let's get them right.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
Well, you know, this is time to smell the roses
a little bit. Man.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
I mean, you're having a terrific season so far, and
without that offensive line today, four fifths of the starters down.
You guys probably don't win.
Speaker 15 (35:20):
Yeah, you know, I gotta give credit to coach dg
hat Get. I get great snaps from depot. I have
two terrific runners and ty Felton and Tavi or Thomas,
and you know, it makes my job a lot easier
when I have those guys around me.
Speaker 1 (35:34):
Does it feel weird leaving London not throwing a pass?
A little bit? A little bit?
Speaker 15 (35:39):
I was kind of hoping that they would call it,
but you.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
Know, got a.
Speaker 15 (35:43):
I'm grateful for the win and I'm just glad that
I was able to perform.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Tell Ashley and to your parents, I say, hello, congratulations
on the victory.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
God bless you guys. All right, you too, Thank you.
Ryan right a seventy seven yard boomer.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
That's the longest not only for him, but in the
history of Minnesota Viking football, and uh it definitely played
into a victory in come from behind a fashion for
the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 1 (36:09):
Today. These are drive bys nine to noon.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
Let's roll over here to one of my favorites, LEVI
drive by.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
What do you think the you know.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
The the a topic for me today? Okay, I mean you.
You had another tackle for loss. Uh tyree on right
here Ingram Dawkins had his first NFL sack. Ip got
back there for a sack. My a topic from this win.
And Wentz and Jefferson and Addison and Hawkinson came up
big late. But the Minnesota moving company the offensive line.
(36:39):
Think about it, man, you're you're down four guys. Darosol's
on a pitch count. School has to go from right
to left in the fourth quarter of a close game.
How about that old line.
Speaker 16 (36:47):
Oh my goodness, it's insane. That togetherness is awesome. Brother,
It's awesome to see. Yes, sir, love it.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
What was it like playing against Hawaii teller in that
offensive line?
Speaker 16 (36:56):
They were good, They were good. You know, a bunch
of respect for them. They worked us, We worked them, man,
and uh, we just got to come back, focus on
our techniques, some fundamentals, what we could do right and
get back after it.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Oh my man, God bless you and your family. Enjoy
your downtime, okay, and.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
We'll see you soon. It's sir, Love you dog, love
you too.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
Levi Drake Rodriguez and that that was part of a
key part of a Minnesota Vikings victory today, Eric, this
will this will be beautiful with a drive by because
we started it by talking to your mom and now
I get it. Yeah, yeah, I threw. I threw on
the k Fan pregame show for a second.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
She was great.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Uh, but it's my a topic from this game, man,
and I know you play defense.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
Is the offensive line? Are you kidding me?
Speaker 2 (37:40):
I mean, three fifths of the starters down Deosol's on
the pitch count school has to go from right to
left tackling you guys win the game? What are you
the Minnesota Moving company man? The offensive line? I mean,
how about that effort?
Speaker 1 (37:51):
Yeah? Man, it's impressive.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Man.
Speaker 7 (37:52):
Shout out to those guys regardless of the situation, being
ready to go and going out there and doing their
thing whatever it takes for us to get the win. Man.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
I'm proud of our guys. I'm proud of our team.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
It was great talking to your mom before the game too,
because we were harkening a little bit for like forty
five second conversation on the radio about when you came
into the league undrafted from Cincinnati here and then now
you're back here and she she loves that you played
for the Minnesota Vikings, and I can tell that you
do too.
Speaker 7 (38:18):
Yeah, dude, I love it. I love it man. It's
a family. I've always had love for it since the
day I got here. And glad to be here, man,
glad to get a heart fought win in London after
you know, a long trip into the bie week.
Speaker 1 (38:31):
I enjoy your downtime, Okay, I appreciate that, man.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
Eric Wilson last is part of the drive bys. When
nine to Noon continues, we'll roll with some talkbacks and
maybe Carson Wentz will be part of the conversation. He
went nine for nine on the game winning touchdown drive,
including the final three to a beleaguered Jordan Addison.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
Thank you, Bizmar. We'll be right back, BA.
Speaker 12 (38:54):
Coach O'Connell has been asked a couple different ways who's
going to be starting.
Speaker 1 (38:58):
Coming out of the bye. What do you make out of.
Speaker 12 (39:01):
His responses so far, which have not been definitive?
Speaker 2 (39:05):
Well, I have not heard his responses. I mean I've
heard some, but I haven't heard any of late.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
I think the paraphrase version coming out yesterday is it
was the side step. I'm just happy we got the win, right.
That was kind of where we're into the by gotta
get healthy. I'm just happy we got the win, right, Okay,
I mean he's kind of the feel yesterday.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
It, you know, I think I think it requires.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
A fair amount of unpacking that I don't think we
have time for in this segment, simply because you got
to think about it's it plays into seeing forest for trees, okay,
and think about some things that transpired yesterday. So if
the Minnesota Vikings lose yesterday, is the season over? No.
(39:52):
I mean they still can get the by, rattle off wins,
get healthy, make the playoffs. But but they the kind
of a desperate feel to needing that victory yesterday.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
So a desperate time.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
The cliche would go, desperate times call for desperate measures.
And I'm telling you simply because I just know a
lot of people around the league. Not everybody would have
sat Addison in that first quarter for missing a walkthrough.
There could have been different forms of discipline. Darisaw was
doing a pretty good job against Miles Garrett, and when
(40:29):
he would flip to the right side, like on the
cam Akers pass, he sold that thing beautifully. Christian Darisaw
is a high end tackle in the National Football League.
But he also is on a recovery plan from multiple
knee injuries that were sustained less than a year ago.
So therefore, if the desperate, if the perceived desperate nature
(40:52):
of this perceived desperate time caused people to make desperate decisions,
then Addison does not get He gets disciplined, but it's
not missing time in the game, and the Darrosol recovery
plan probably is like what we're talking about here. He
looks great, feels great too, Let's just put him back
out there. You want to talk about commitment to a plan, right, you.
Speaker 3 (41:13):
Got to go ten plays eighty yards and you got
seventy one sitting there. You're like, nope, we have the
plan right, and you switch school over to the left.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
I got a lot of respect for that.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
That's commitment to the plan, win or lose, because it's
not thinking all of life. Everything is just going to
start and or stop right now with what's right in
front of us. It's their games and careers to be had.
So how does that tie into Wentz and or JJ McCarthy.
(41:43):
This is not speaking for the coach or the team
in any way. They're committed to JJ McCarthy as the
future of the franchise. Carson Wentz went nine of nine
on that beautiful game winning ten play touchdown where Hawkinson's,
you know, all of a sudden, open all night and
(42:04):
Jefferson is open all over the place, and so is
Jordan Addison came through like a high end offensive football
presentation despite four fifths of the makeshift moving company being
part of it, and they did their part two. So
that's where it stops for me, is is there's a
(42:24):
seeing the forest for the trees aspect to this decision.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
If there even is a decision to be made.
Speaker 2 (42:31):
That that that you've got to properly analyze the past
performances of the decision maker, right and and what you
know what he is apt to do in situations like that, now,
you know, I mean, I've said.
Speaker 1 (42:45):
It here and I've said it to some other people
that you know.
Speaker 2 (42:48):
With JJ McCarthy, you know, who's going to start practicing
I think some on the side this week and then
when full practice begins next week, I fully expect him
to practice. I was surprised you didn't practice Friday, but
it came up. Uh, it came up raining at the
Friday's practice and the uh uh, the the pitch, the pasture,
the makeshift field at Hanbury Manor was incredibly slippery, so
(43:11):
they did They didn't roll with JJ as in McCarthy
on that day. But he'll get back to practice. And
it's a forest for the trees type situation. But does
the forest have to be seen for the trees in
the first one out of the bye against Philadelphia?
Speaker 1 (43:29):
You know? So now what what? What?
Speaker 2 (43:30):
What else plays into it? Which offensive lineman are you
going to get back? Where's the Darsaw recovery plan? Now
that you're closer to a full year from this recovery.
I mean, is it full game for Christian now?
Speaker 1 (43:44):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (43:45):
You know the Ryan Kelly status, Well, he went to
i R, So you know you're going to have somebody
else playing center. Fries Friesees started every game. Jackson with
that wrist could be back in that Eagles game. So
that's where I have to stop, because they know more
about the offense, meshing with certain players and their play
(44:07):
style than I do. Because Wentz, you know what, all
these sacks that have been taken over. I think he
got sacked three times yesterday, but you know there was
a five in there.
Speaker 1 (44:19):
In one of these games.
Speaker 2 (44:20):
It was eighteen through four, eighteen through four, Holy cow,
eighteen through four, most in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (44:25):
Yeah, Dium.
Speaker 2 (44:27):
Well, with all due respect to somebody of whom I'm
quite fond, Carson Wentz, it's not all the offensive line
and running back protection's fault, right, Sometimes he moves the
wrong way, sometimes he holds it too long, just like
everybody else. Okay, well, where does McCarthy fall in that situation?
Behind what iteration of the moving company out of a buy?
(44:52):
Where you're going to have some more sweet plays to unferral.
I mean, let's get into this around the corner. I
want you to think about a favorite play. In fact,
somebody can fire a talkback off on this if you want,
because we'll make some talkbacks in during the course of
either Vike Vike's bits or maybe at the tail end
(45:14):
of the bursage conversation and so on. But if do
you have a favorite play from yesterday and people I
think will morph to well, dah the past Dadison front
right of the end zone won the game and it
was a cool play. That's not my favorite play, So
just mad producer and those in talkback nation think about
(45:35):
it for a second, because I want to share mine,
what was your favorite individual play from that game yesterday?
It could be it could be it could be Ryan
Wright seventy seven yard punt with Tavey R. Thomas and
ty Felton getting down there to touch it down like
the one.
Speaker 1 (45:50):
That might be mine, right.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
It could be. I loved it. It was big and
and so then what's the next layer to that? Well,
every training camp we have, I'm Seth Vernon of the
world here to push the punter. I mean, whether they're
from Australia or Portland State, there's somebody always here to
push this guy Oscar want Oscar and he keeps coming
(46:12):
through like I referenced in the drive by, and nobody
talked about it because it's, you know whatever. It's a
punt in the first game of the season, I think
the seventh punt. But that last punt he had it
Soldier Field, with the hangtime and everything. It helped win
the game, that punt yesterday, and there was a fumble
after it, but that helped win the game.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
But I got a.
Speaker 2 (46:35):
Favorite play that I want to share, and I want
to share why, and we will do all of that
and to introduce vikes bites around the corner.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
This is KFA
