Speaker 5 (05:42):
Old soult cafe top left button. Bar bam, he got

game for the Minnesota Vikings. Some things first and foremost,
so we're scattered right now. This is tentacle related terrorism
that is taking place right before your very ears and
your very eyes. Here about flow wild wings. Austin Harper,
(06:02):
where are you stand up? Young man?
Speaker 4 (06:05):
Oh wow?
Speaker 5 (06:06):
Austin Harper from Apple Valley is celebrating his thirteenth birthdays
and gentlemen, happy.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Birthday, little brother.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
At least we can do is give you a Shirton
RDO my comp your wings if you're really nice to him,
your wings are on me.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Birthday boy. There we go.
Speaker 5 (06:22):
Here are some things for which we are looking with
the Minnesota Vikings this weekend against the New York Giants.
I'm going to begin it with an early Christmas gift
or a couple that I would like delivered to a
couple of Minnesota Vikings. First and foremost would be cornerback
Byron Murphy Junior. All right, maybe old Jackson Dart will
(06:44):
gift him his first interception of the year. Now Byron
has gone eighteen consecutive without an interception. Wow, his career
long is nineteen consecutive from twenty twenty one to twenty
twenty three Arizona and the Minnesota Vikings. I'm quite positive
the young man does not want to match that record.
(07:05):
So hopefully Jackson Dark can gift him an interception. Hey,
if he only finishes with one, it's better than zero.
But Alec lewis with the Athletic. Theathletic dot Com, by
the way, you can gift athletic subscriptions.
Speaker 4 (07:19):
I do it every single year. I've done it twice
this year.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
It's inexpensive and the knowledge knowledge is king in the
world of sports for those who enjoy the athletic and
that would be all of us. Why do you think
Alec Bira Murphy Jr. Went from six interceptions last year
to zero this year?
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Yeah, it's a good question.
Speaker 6 (07:39):
I think part of it probably is the result of
this team playing much fewer snaps with the lead, and
so when you're not leading games as much, the opposing
team doesn't have to throw as much, which makes it
much more difficult to be in situations where an interception
is possible. I think Byron Murphy Junior last year he
(08:00):
had what five or six interceptions, and he would put
he kept all of the balls from the interceptions. He
put him atop his locker. It's kind of sad walking
by his locker this year. There's no there's no balls
up there. But I would say, you said it, Pa,
Jackson Dart this weekend. Jackson Dart plays football kind of
like a Red Bull mountain bike cliff jumper and watch.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
I mean, it's fun. But if you're a Giants fan,
I mean you are.
Speaker 6 (08:26):
I mean, this guy is in the concussion he's in
the medical tent weekly.
Speaker 5 (08:31):
Okay, but you know, with what Nordo has crafted for
the eleven o'clock with the Players of the Year and
Rookies of the Year to the stage with three to go, I.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
May he the Rookie of the is he?
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Well?
Speaker 5 (08:43):
I may or may not have put Jackson Dart in
that offensive Rookie of the Year because the the the
Ohio State receiver for.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Tampa Bay's come back to the pack. Yeah. Precipitously. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (08:54):
And I'm like looking at Offensive Player of the Year
and I'm like Jonathan Taylor only cow sixteen look at
all this last month and a half half when they're losing,
he's comeback. So it's a tricky talker coming up later.
But I really haven't watched Jackson's Dart that much this year.
I did watch him, see they they caught the imagination
of the nation for a couple of weeks with the
(09:15):
Dart scataboo thing, and they beat the Eagles, and that's
kind of where that's kind of where it stopped. But nevertheless,
Jackson Dart has seven rushing touchdowns. I know he's reckless,
but he has markedly more touchdowns than interceptions.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
I mean, the kid has a little something to him.
Speaker 6 (09:32):
He's athletic for sure, and they use him in the
quarterback run game like they will do design quarterback counter
run game.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
I mean, it's they try to tap into that.
Speaker 6 (09:41):
The thing for me is some of his runs this
year are scrambles where he's missing reads over the middle
of the field. So it's like, man, great seven yard scramble,
But had you just hit the guy on the crossler
over the middle, you wouldn't have put yourself in a
position to be injured potentially because you are scrambling. So
I think this is a massive, massive spot for Brian
(10:02):
Flora's defense, even without Jonathan Garnard and Josh Mattelis, who
are who are undergoing shoulder operations and.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
Will be done for the year.
Speaker 6 (10:10):
Like Brian Flores against Jackson Dart and Mike Kafka. I mean,
Brian Flores is probably in the in the offices up
there at TCO, like rubbing his hands together like this
could be the one a Bollacorp. Yeah, it's kind of
my feel in this game.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
But with Murphy from I mean, he had six last year,
the most by a corner since the ninety eight Vikings
and Jimmy Hitchcock, and it falls off to a zero
now now the I mean, you've had Van Ginkol out
certainly more than last year. Renard's been in and out,
Cashman at dramatically more sacks last year than this year.
I believe that that has to play into it, right.
Speaker 6 (10:47):
Yeah, the I mean again, I think trailing in games
more often than opposing teams have to throw less often
in less advantageous look.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
That's part of it.
Speaker 6 (10:55):
But then Byron Murphy, I'd also say his best spot
is when he can play in the slot. The problem
is this Vikings team doesn't have the cornerback depth to
where he can slide in there. He has to play
on the outside, which isn't his primary, most optimal position,
And so for a lot of reasons, I think that,
And there's also just turnover like luck. No one wants
(11:18):
to talk about tips and overthrows and kind of the
luck of that. So it's a combination for me, Yeah,
it does. It's a combination for for Byer Murphy to
go from six to zero. It's a combination of everything.
To me, I don't think he's been as just on
point this year, probably, but I also don't think he's
he's been a liability at all. And again, if he
(11:39):
gets an interception this weekend against Jackson Dart, the Red
Bull mountain biker cliff jumper, I'm not gonna be surprised
at all.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Well, there's been an interesting talker whether We had Pat
Leonard on New York Daily News as a Talking Ball podcast,
and he talked a bit about Dart. But there but
out in New York there's this conversation where he has
to protect himself, yeah, because he reckless. But on the
other end of it, part of the reason that he
was drafted where he was is because of his athleticism,
(12:07):
and that's even been kind of bandied about with Dart himself, like,
I mean, I don't know why. I mean, there's a
big reason that I'm here and I was drafted where
I was. It's because I do these things.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
With my legs.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
And so the Byron Murphy getting a pit conversation as
if the if the team is going to protect him
and make him be a true in the pocket QB
kind of like which game?
Speaker 4 (12:29):
Which game was it?
Speaker 2 (12:29):
When it almost felt like JJ McCarthy had this invisible
fence in the pocket. I can't remember which game that was.
Then was it Washington where he might have been a
sophomore year at Michigan. No, But but the idea was
he just wasn't getting out of the pocket, and he
took a ton of sacks in the process. And so
trying to figure out the responsible ways and the responsible
moments to run. And similarly with Dart, if you force
(12:52):
him to be in the pocket and just throw the ball.
But Murphy's gonna get one this weekend.
Speaker 5 (12:56):
Hey, Buffalo Wild Wings, Apple Valley, we have a very
important decision to make ladies and gentlemen, I need you
to listen closely.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Thank you Marathon, listen closely please.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
Is everybody here familiar with one of the better defensive
players in the history of Minnesota Vikings football.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
Chad Greenway?
Speaker 5 (13:18):
Now Chad Greenway on the field and off the field,
has not made many mistakes in his life?
Speaker 4 (13:23):
Can I get an amen? All?
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Right?
Speaker 4 (13:26):
Well, he made one this morning.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
He misread the text I said earlier this week saying
Buffalo Wild Wings Apple Valley today Buffalo Wild Wings, Roseville
on Christmas Eve.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
Yes, we oh, hey, you know where this is going.
Speaker 5 (13:40):
Don't turn this into Covenant Court, because we'll prosecute all
of you.
Speaker 4 (13:44):
It's six and eight radio, okay, and we feel it too.
So here's the deal.
Speaker 5 (13:49):
We're gonna give Chad the option here by by a
round of applause, they're gonna be there's gonna be a
decision to make. If you would like us to all
Chad Greenway and you hear him through the speakers at
about nine thirty three, make some noise. Here's the other option,
(14:11):
if you would like Chad Greenway to drive safely on
the treacherous roads that caught young Alec.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
This morning.
Speaker 5 (14:19):
You gotta be careful if you would like him to
bust booty to Buffalo Wild Wings Apple Valley and be
here at nine thirty five. Make some noise, Chad, we
know you're listening. See you soon five two radio at
nine thirty five. Come another another another early Christmas gift.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
What did you think to do that? It's just planned another.
Speaker 5 (14:49):
Early Christmas gift I would like delivered for the Minnesota
Vikings final road game New York Giants this Sunday at
noon KFA m Bira Murphy with an interception and snapping
that long scheme. But how about making it an operation
eighteen Sunday. Justin Jefferson all right, Now, forget the fact
(15:10):
that he hasn't had more than one hundred yards since
the team was in London. Forget the fact that he
hasn't had a touchdown in a month and change. Justin
Jefferson is four catches from the most of anybody in
their first six years in the history of the NFL.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
It was six, it was eight two weeks ago, and
it went to six.
Speaker 5 (15:32):
Now it's gone to four, and that would pass Jarvis Landry,
and that would put him in the history books for
the most catches of anybody in the history of the
NFL through six seasons. Operation eighteen is in the air,
and he also is one hundred and twelve yards receiving
yard shy of passing Randy Moss for the most receiving
(15:55):
yards of anybody through the first six years of their career.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Operation eighteen is in the air Sunday at noon. Well,
y'all think of that?
Speaker 6 (16:07):
Yeah, I mean I I look, this is a spot
too for Justin where the opportunity should be there. The
Giants play man coverage at the seventh highest rate in
the NFL. They love playing man coverage with Cordel Flott,
Paulson Adebo and Andrew Phillips.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
I'm not really sure why, but that's what they do. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (16:25):
So if that's what they do with Justin Jefferson, that's
what they do with Justin Jefferson. Sunday and JJ McCarthy
can be accurate, and those two can find a synergy
that I think everybody in this Buffalo Wild Wings Apple
Valley has been waiting for.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
Them to find.
Speaker 6 (16:40):
Then, you know, he could ill easily pass the full
reception mark and then the yardage mark is probably attainable
as well. I would not be surprised at Kevin O'Connell
in this Viking stat They know the history they want.
I mean, they know how how much Justin Jefferson has
provided behind the scenes this year from a leadership kind
of level headedness standpoint, So they will do everything in
(17:03):
their power to get him the ball. I wouldn't mind
a little flip on the first play of the game.
Just put him in motion and give him a little flip.
That's one catch, that's some yards.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Just do it. Why about the quick out for minus two,
I don't care. Just get him the ball at the
very beginning.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
I'll look out for minus two.
Speaker 5 (17:18):
Then he goes to one fourteen from Moss is supposed
to go the other way.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
It's supposed to go the right way.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
The wait if you hear Alex somebody just says, well,
you see those slants.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
Just do more of those.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Because there is a weird there's there's a relationship here
where Naylor has the night he does in some respects
because of the attention paid to Jefferson the tight ends
two weeks ago in the heavier personnel groups.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
There's a part of the reason that TJ.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Hawkinson found his way in Oliver finding his way justin.
Jefferson plays a role in that. So if somebody just said, well,
I'll come justin, Jefferson doesn't run those routes, what do
you think about those? Because again, what you're seeing and
it's good stuff from JJ McCarthy the last two. Yeah,
but we do have to remind ourselves in some ways
because we also see the forcing it to him. I
(18:03):
think it was second or third down before the fake
of all fakes, where he just there was no chance
Jefferson could get it. Later on one v one Bland
never turns around. Could have been a penalty actually, but
Jefferson had no chance. So part of Jefferson and what
he's doing right now kind of also opens the door
for the other stuff we're seeing and trying to get
him the ball. I don't think it's as easy as
(18:24):
just why don't you run that slant every time?
Speaker 6 (18:26):
No, And I mean I will say this offense doesn't
have a ton of slants in it, like that's been
a theme for multiple years. And part of I mean,
there's to be able to run a slant. First, the
guy has to be physical enough to get off press.
So that's part of it, and then you got to
have a quarterback to be able to put it on
the body on the break every single time. And when
you run slants there there's the likelihood of tips and
(18:48):
overthrows if you're not putting the ball where it needs
to be.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
So, you know, as easy as.
Speaker 6 (18:53):
It seems and looks, and at times I'm watching it,
I'm like, why can't they just get him a slant
like the Cowboys would with with George Pickens. It's definitely
they got a lot of those Sunday night.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
No they didn't.
Speaker 6 (19:04):
It's definitely on my mind. But I would say this,
like I for you know, Justin Jefferson had the ball
in the end zone. He dropped the ball in the
end zone, like that is a pass he has to catch.
He admitted that, yes, the ball came in a little hot,
but he has paid thirty five million a year for
balls to come in hot to.
Speaker 5 (19:21):
Be caught, So if it was paid twenty one million
a year, it would be acceptable.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
No, it wouldn't be acceptable.
Speaker 6 (19:26):
But I'm just saying, like that is at a pass
we all expect Justin to catch, and and look, I
just think, you know, one of the underrated aspects of
Justin and JJ and their connection. Justin Jefferson did not
really participate in training camp because.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
Of a hamstring injury. So that is a lot of time.
Speaker 6 (19:44):
Every day, five weeks of not being able to just
throw and catch and have a feel. And so there
are a lot of aspects to why the you know,
they haven't been as syncd up as everyone in here
would probably want them to be.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
But I don't you think we can be beyond the
camp thing now? Yeah, at this stage of the season
you would think, yeah, I mean, there are a lot
of reasons to think you would be shrouded. But no,
the other the other.
Speaker 4 (20:10):
The Christmas season. I apologize no you mentioned this, Nordo,
but on trial.
Speaker 6 (20:14):
Defenses defend him with multiple bodies, and so to be
able to beat those coverages from a passing game standpoint,
you have to have a bespoke kind of game plan,
route structure, strategy, And to have a bespoke structure, it
often requires a quarterback with the wherewithal of what that
stuff looks like.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
And JJ is still young.
Speaker 6 (20:36):
As much as he has shown immense growth over the
last two weeks two weeks, he's still young, and so
I just think it's part of the evolution within this thing.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
That which is why I.
Speaker 6 (20:46):
Won't be surprised if we see it this weekend, because
of just more time together with JJ McCarthy this weekend
and and correlating either correlating what we know, what we see,
or what we hear with where he is in his progression.
Speaker 5 (21:03):
There was a throw last night Matthew Stafford made to
Puka Nakua center of the field between the hash marks.
It might have been Seattle in a Tampa two with
the linebacker drops, hybrid floaters might have been hybrid floaters
all over the place, and you had linebacker guy dropping
and the pass went right over him between split safeties
(21:27):
and Nakua caught it on the run, coming left to
right between the hash marks. The point being here, as
we all take in the maturation of this young quarterback,
there are steps that are taken every single week. One
step for which I'm looking through the final three beginning
this weekend is attacking the middle of the field and
(21:52):
just having like one, maybe two passes like we referenced
from last night from Stafford to Pukua Nakua the field.
Speaker 6 (22:00):
Yeah, I mean there was the throw that JJ McCarthy
made in Arlington to TJ Hockinson kind of on a
seam ball and that was I mean one of the
best throws of JJ McCarthy's young career without question, to
kind of get the ball a little bit up and
down into that window deep down the field. So you
mentioning that PA is one hundred percent true, Like this
(22:22):
Vikings offense, so much of what it's been built on
through the first three years of Kevin O'Connell being here
was in breakers toward the middle of the field, crossers
kind of over the middle.
Speaker 4 (22:33):
Of the field.
Speaker 6 (22:34):
Like that's where they love to attack, and that's where
you can create yards after catch if you get the
ball in stride over the middle. And so yeah, over
the last three weeks, how much is JJ targeting those
areas and when he is targeting those areas, how accurate
is he being on those throws?
Speaker 4 (22:51):
That is gonna be huge, Uh, you know, thing to watch.
Speaker 6 (22:54):
I will say this though, just to be very clear,
JJ McCarthy's pocket presence decisiveness, that stuff has taken a
massive leap the last two weeks. Like in the pocket,
he's not climbing violent violently, he looks comfortable, he gets
small and even the pre snap operation looks very composed,
very under control, and so I mean it looks kind
(23:16):
of like the preseason game against the Raiders his first year,
and and the trajectory that I think we all probably
expected him to take from that. Like that's what it
started to feel a little bit like to me. And
it's not a surprise given how long it's been since
he's really played in games. So it's been great to
see and continuing it against this defense, which has two
(23:37):
really talented guys, three really talented guys in the front
Abdual Carter, Dexter Lawrence, and Brian Burns.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Is gonna be critical. Something's up with Dexter. He only
has a half sacked. Yeah, are you kidding?
Speaker 4 (23:49):
It's it's weird that they started every game.
Speaker 6 (23:52):
Yeah, the numbers are weird, but he's getting double teamed
at the highest rate of any defender in the NFL
per Next Gen.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
Stats, and that might help Burns and Carter. It's it definitely,
And Carter is.
Speaker 6 (24:05):
Who knew when you take a first round ed rusher,
you want it to look like how Carter looks like.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
I mean, this guy he's gotten there earlier in the year.
Now where's he at. It's like Sam last night. Sam
got there in a pressure field moment last night.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
Good for Sam.
Speaker 5 (24:21):
Abdul Carter tore it up last game, but that really
was the coronation of a season. From what I understand,
that's been a little frustrating for those in the Giants covenant.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
We got some meeting terrorism. Yeah, I got some sleeping
terrorism at the facility.
Speaker 6 (24:36):
Off the field, and it found like yeah, yeah, I
mean the nap room. You've seen the Vikings nap room.
I mean they got it right next to the locker room.
You could take the best nap of all time in
there anyway. Abdul Carter, Yeah, they'll line them up on
the edge, then they'll move him and go head up
on the center and so, and they'll move him and
go head up on the left guard and so. Like
(24:57):
Abdul Carter's just you know his versatile, yeah is and
Brian Burns can do the same thing. So for JJ,
like I think this week, it is run the football
and early downs is the worst run The Giants have
the worst run defense in the NFL, So you should
be able to run the football and early downs put
yourself in advantageous third down spots and then JJ McCarthy
(25:19):
hopefully can just you know, add and continue the progression
that he's had over the last two weeks.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
That has been really great to see.
Speaker 6 (25:27):
Frankly, and I think about it even from JJ mentally,
like I can't say enough about to be able to
navigate what he's navigated this year on the field, off
the field, injury wise, criticism, all of that, and he's
still twenty two years old. To see him this late
in the year, have the two games that he's had,
specifically last week on Sunday Night Football, it's it's pretty impressive.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
Well, it's one of those things too, like I'm rooting
for him because he's the tenth overall selection of my
favorite football team. And I feel like over the course
of this there was no room for sympathy or at
the mid stream, right because we had a roster that's
built to win now and we're gonna go to the
playoffs and what the hell's up with the kid QB.
But this is I mean, all of those things stacked
against him.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
You know.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
It's like I wanted a different quarterback in the draft,
so I almost as a Vikings fan, am willing myself
for this kid to fail almost to validate my pre
draft opinion from two years ago. I feel that a
bit actually with Sam Darnold as well, now that he's gone,
people kind of rooting for him to fail to prove
that that was the right decision.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
Feels like that.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
But with McCarthy, it's almost like raising kids, where a
couple of weeks ago he just was saying one word
and now he's making a sentence out of the whole thing.
This growth trajectory in just two games, and there's bad defenses,
there's a ton of variables that play into it. But
as somebody that we need this franchise QB to work out,
we want this to be a w We want this
(26:49):
kid to lead this offense for the next decade plus
and to see not just little baby steps, but truly
in two games, almost an entirely different quarterback.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
He's manufactured three touchdowns in each of those games. Uh.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
The kid making those not just steps but massive leaps
in some cases has been remarkable, really.
Speaker 6 (27:07):
And it's interesting because you see the you see the
growth in real time on these Sundays. But then like
I'm standing out there at practice yesterday and I don't
know if this per I haven't talked to anybody, but
in the in kind of the warm up portion, they're
running special teams on the field, but JJ McCarthy's warming up.
He's throwing these deep balls down the left side line
to Justin Jefferson as part of the warm up, which
(27:28):
I would have to think is a bit of a
you know, we're trying to get the synergy right between
these two.
Speaker 4 (27:34):
Kevin O'Connor may see that.
Speaker 6 (27:36):
Maybe they did, but Kevin O'Connell was over there talking
to Justin, but like in front of Justin and and
Jad's having to throw the ball up and over Kevin
to Justin, and I'm thinking, like, is this a coaching
like strategy to get the ball to get him to
throw the ball up and over?
Speaker 4 (27:54):
But he was talking to Justin probably like about schemes.
Speaker 6 (27:57):
But I was like, Kevin is purposeful enough to want
the coaching point or to enhance JJ having to throw
the ball up and over even on a Thursday afternoon
in the winter, snowstorm, whatever the heck was going on
yesterday with the weather, that's just kind of how it is.
But no, it's been You're right, Nordo, it's been cool.
To see and Pa said it attacking over the mill
of field. If JJ McCarthy can do that over these
(28:19):
last three games, next step that would go even further
to cementing just the growth arc that we've obviously seen
the last two week.
Speaker 5 (28:28):

Oh yeah, it's good ice. They got this autophil sensor
that can just put this cat ice. There's there's there's
levels to ice really well. Yeah, I mean it's the
density of it. It's like levels of poaching. You got
Mike Kafka and then you got no offense. But it
no but like they're still rattled from the drive here. No,
but some ice is better than other ice. So this
has mcday level ice. Okay, Mike McDonald's level ice saw
(29:39):
last night. Right, No, it's critical. I'm telling you it's
a that's a critical component and it is right and
you go into Steves and you ask about it that

segments each and every weekday nine to noon. Steve's Appliances
dot Com. We eagerly are awaiting the arrival of the
game changer for five to two Radio Chad Greenway, he
should be here shortly, can just quickly and closing here?
Can you imagine what Chad felt like when when he
(30:32):
like pulled off Snelling and he gets by the mall, like, hey,
a lot of cars at the mall, Christmas Seas and
stuff like that, rolls up to Buffalo Wild Wings and
it's crickets and nobody's there. He called me three times
and I'm trying to figure out why there's nobody back
at the radio station.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
I got him calling me, text me.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
He said he went to Roseville, and I'd say we
handled it well, even all the moguls in the opening.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
Segment, nobody's sitting here.
Speaker 6 (30:57):
When I've had any idea of the level of stress
going on, found I was.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
I mean to watch you guys navigate that within the
come up out.
Speaker 5 (31:06):
Nordo has professional pride with the sound of KFA N
and nine to No. Sure so, given he's the producer
and he operates everything behind the scenes on the weekdays,
even if he's here on a Friday and something happens,
somebody messes up or something happens. He's gonna take, you know,
kind of take that personally because he cares about the sound.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
Of nine to nowers.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
Now that the problem is, though, is that the program
director is back at the station on the board right now,
so I can't say right everything that I wanted to
say about about how the open went.
Speaker 5 (31:36):
When we return a complete analysis and breakdown of the
Minnesota Moving Company, each and every offensive lineman from where
they started in high school, through college and subsequently their
National Football League careers. Uh, this is the Friday Football
(31:57):
Happy Birthday my man Austin Harper right in front of us.
Round the applause for him again. Alex Lewis Nordo on
Paul Allen, that's j dub Nick. Madden Street Team is

to the Friday Football Feast at Buffalo Wild Wings Apple
Valley and the setlist is courtesy of timber Tech and

M one hundred point three k f A N your

(33:15):
we have a we have a major major announcement here momentarily,
but first we want to we want to wish Boogie
Bob a happy birthday.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
Where are you, Boogie Bob? Happy birthday?
Speaker 1 (33:28):
Brother.
Speaker 5 (33:28):
Also at that table is a man named Joe who
who drove truck for many, many years in super reliable fashion. Joe,
put your hand in the air. Today's first day of retirement,
ladies and gentlemen, and he's spending it at the Friday
football fees.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
Let's go.
Speaker 5 (33:47):
And there's also a young man named Jacob Cassi who
wanted to be here today, but he couldn't be here today,
so he's listening right now. Jacob, sorry you couldn't join
us for a jam packed feast. Very energetic, too great Doug.
Great people here today, but Jacob maybe next time. Right now,
the major announcement, Ladies and gentlemen, Chad Greenway found Apple Valley,
(34:10):
Wrong Way? Greenway on the fan? How about feel When
you pulled into the Roseville Buffalo Wild Wings Roseville parking
lot and it was cricket, See, it was.
Speaker 4 (34:21):
Just me and I pulled in.
Speaker 7 (34:22):
I said, well, this is wrong, that's for sure. Looked
at my text back from you and I was like, oh,
that's that's on Thursday. Today, that is Wednesday, So yeah,
it is where it is. Beautiful drive this morning. Yeah,
not a lot of traffic. Have you ever driven that
the the Roseville to Apple Valley? Never taken that trip before? Right,
it was creative through downtown. We'll see to two weeks
(34:44):
go by the airport. Airport was buzzing around this morning
looking good at home. Deepo off seventy seven is always busy,
trafficking and out.
Speaker 4 (34:51):
You get to appreciate by we even dipped south of
the river.
Speaker 5 (34:57):
It's like a fleet farm off thirty five W. You're
heading south to ask, yeah, and you'll you look off
to the east, or if you're heading north, you look
to your right and that fleet farm pat parking lot
it's always jammed.
Speaker 4 (35:08):
Always jammed up. Uh, but yeah, it is what it is.
Speaker 7 (35:10):
You know, I had a wide open Friday, kids are
at school, nothing to do, you know, put some stock
and stuffers together for the kids today, so you know
it's easy.
Speaker 5 (35:18):
Yeah, Well, wouldn't you given young Madden is off to
become a Kentucky Wildcat next year, wouldn't you? I mean
this is primo time to perfect the crossover.
Speaker 4 (35:28):
It is well Absolutely, this is exactly what we're going
to be doing this next next weeks.
Speaker 5 (35:32):
You set up the delay and the shoulders and everything
left to right, then back to left.
Speaker 4 (35:37):
Let's work right to left, back to right.
Speaker 7 (35:39):
Yeah, a little head fake, give them something to give
them something to think about over here to come back
to the other side.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
Yeah, that's what we do. I don't know, I don't
know where that went, but I'm with him.
Speaker 5 (35:51):
Daughter is going to be in the w NB. I
know you start on that at age six of the breaks.
You know what I'm saying, Alec, I understand you have
a question for the game.
Speaker 4 (36:00):
Yeah, I've been wanting to ask you this. Philip Rivers
makes a guy think, right, how about death? That makes
a guy think?
Speaker 5 (36:07):
It's a little different doing what you Oh, I mean,
it's he takes contact or hopes to avoid it. You
you lay the contact, which at I mean, how old
are you forty one, forty two, forty two? That's gotta
be tough.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
Yeah, you kind of hear that, you kind of stand
up to kind of get one of these.
Speaker 7 (36:23):
Yeah, one of those, you know, like I can probably
give you ten to fifteen, you know, But yeah, I
mean the different Absolutely, I could first of all, twenty
eight in great shape, ready to go, been lifting lifting heavyweights.
Speaker 4 (36:35):
One hit, It's over. It's over. It's absolutely over.
Speaker 5 (36:39):
That's what they said about Rivers at age forty four
when he went on that seven step drop and just fell.
I mean it looks like he trying to get out
of bed last week. Honestly at two four and five
thirty in the morning.
Speaker 4 (36:52):
Now he just he just fell.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
I mean, its like, well, he's slipping in my yard,
like just doing some work on a little.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
Did line over for Phil? No, it wasn't. And he
came back and he was game.
Speaker 7 (37:03):
You know what though it makes everybody thinks like, yeah,
I could probably give you five to ten, right, I
mean it's been eight years.
Speaker 4 (37:09):
No, I'm definitely out. I don't want to hit anybody.
Speaker 7 (37:11):
You go on the sidelines these days and you see
these old linemen, I'm like, how did I even do
that for so long? And get off of these blocks,
especially when they hold all the time, you know, the
old lineman.
Speaker 4 (37:19):
It's uh, but it was fun to see his approach
was his approach was great.
Speaker 7 (37:24):
Yeah, and he played well against the team, you know,
best team at the end of seed right now by
the way.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
So yeah, it was a big time playing.
Speaker 7 (37:31):
And again, keep it simple, play simple, give him easy throws,
let him get his feet set underneath him.
Speaker 4 (37:36):
He's always had the arm talent. You took Phil to
the house, didn't you.
Speaker 7 (37:38):
Oh yeah, absolutely, yeah, without without question. Oh yeah, play
that back?
Speaker 4 (37:43):
Can we play? We had the audio up for that, and.
Speaker 5 (37:46):
He's lose and Philip Rivers is h O F bound right, Yes, okay,
so is Eli Manning. I believe Eli Manning, you know,
probably will get into the Hall of Fame. Yes, well,
when we return, you want to talk about somebody who
owned Eli Manning. Chad Greenway had a lot of success
against Eli and the New York Giants. We'll get into
the Vikings and the Giants in the final road game
(38:09):
this year, plus much more from Buffalo Wild Wings, Apple Valley.
This is the Friday Football be right back. Hey, where's
(38:44):
Bruce Clawson? Happy birthday, Bruce Clawson from all of us
here at the Friday Football Fees.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
I'm beginning to watch. I don't know any of them.
Speaker 5 (38:54):
With the exception of radio relationships, but I'm beginning to
wonder if people really are celebrating birthdays or they just
are like Billy, Johnny, Christy, Suzi, Tamika Antwin.
Speaker 4 (39:05):
Gather around the radio.
Speaker 5 (39:06):
Daddy's name is gonna be said by God's cartoon character,
the one with three chins.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
Well maybe you know, if green if Greenway hadn't showed up,
we could have just started a line and everyone gets
a shout out, yeahh for just a little holiday shout.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
Out, yeah, filler.
Speaker 5 (39:20):
Well that's more four and ten radio, yes, okay, six
and eight radio.
Speaker 4 (39:25):
Not that a little different, all right.
Speaker 5 (39:28):
Chad Greenway finished his National Football League career five and
two against the New York Giants.
Speaker 4 (39:34):
Man you played the Giants a lot during your career.
Speaker 5 (39:36):
NFC East team started out three and zero against them,
and in fact, Chad Greenway's first defensive touchdown came from
the arm of Eli Manning in two thousand and seven
at what used.
Speaker 4 (39:49):
To be known as the Meadowlands.
Speaker 5 (39:52):
It was the second interception for Chad in as many
weeks in what kind of like JJ McCarthy was his
rookie year, but it really was the second year, and
fifty two radio was was brilliant back then. Thirty seven
yards to the house, by the way, The Vikings crushed
the Giants that day, at the metal lens. They had
three defensive touchdowns Eli Manning through five interceptions. The same
(40:17):
Giants team that went out won the Super Bowl that year.
Are you kidding, man?
Speaker 7 (40:20):
Yeah, that was one of those games where you just
things were going your way, the balls bouncing your way.
Speaker 4 (40:24):
I'm not sure what Eli was doing.
Speaker 7 (40:26):
I think at one point he threw back to back
pick six, as I believe, And it was one of
those games where the things were going your way and
it was great, and all of a sudden, you know,
you you have your season end. You then watch the
playoffs and you watch a team that you demolish go
win the Super Bowl and get a ring, and you're
just like how and he just shows you. A quarterback
(40:46):
gets hot, they get on the road, they get their
running game going. At that time, they had a defensive
was playing well and things. It's just the same idea
you want for your own team is just get in
the game every year and give yourself a chance. Right
And that's a frustration part from me with this team
this season is because if you get right at the
right time, this is a team that clearly can play
against and beat anybody. Based off what we saw going
(41:08):
into the season at times this year.
Speaker 5 (41:10):
Okay, well what you just said, just get in and
see what happens with Kansas City or Philadelphia or certain
teams certain years New England back in the day, that
ain't the case, that's the case this year. I mean
it props to Sam Darnold for handling the game and
the end of the game the way he did last
night after the interception by the goal line nearly a
(41:32):
pick six. I mean it was typical Sam in pressure
related situations, absolutely crumbly, But props to Sam. He pushed
through it and and and he had a throw to
and I'm glad Alec tweeted about it too, And I
agree with Alan.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
One of the most one of the most impressive throws
right well, I mean a al Michaels and Herb Street.
Speaker 5 (41:51):
You know, they they you know, they got things that
they got to get to and stuff like that. But
I think that was the throw where you're like, it
didn't get due credit. Yeah, oh, I agree. I mean
it was left Cooper right right, sideline leading Cooper uwain't
as fast as he used to be, So I mean
that's a whole adventure in its own right.
Speaker 4 (42:08):
All the sideline play.
Speaker 5 (42:09):
Yeah, Hooper Cup, Jordy Nelson, Chris Carter esk on the
sideline when you give him the opportunity, so like Sam
pushing through that. They may be the one seed, but
they get the Niners the last game of the year,
and if the forty nine Ers keep winning and they
beat them the last week, I think the Niners get
the one seed. Stafford is still a complete handful. The
(42:30):
Eagles Man, the Philadelphia Eagles, I mean, pity the fool
that says they have no chance when they get to
the postseason and then they all start liking each other.
Speaker 4 (42:39):
Then you get to the AFC.
Speaker 5 (42:41):
If a second year quarterback who sixty five seventy percent
of games has you scratching your head, and then the
final thirty five to thirty percent with Bo Nicks, it's like,
holy cal John Elway, who this guy's unbelievable in the
fourth quarter. That's probably going to be your one seed.
This sucker is why open this year.
Speaker 7 (43:00):
Yeah, I think it's gonna be one of the better
playoffs just scenarios we've seen in this new system with
having seven and only one getting to buy because I
just think you can have so many good matchups we'm
talking about good football weekends.
Speaker 4 (43:11):
This is a good football weekend with your.
Speaker 7 (43:12):
College and pro a lot of good matchups that matter
to affect teams in playoffs. Wild Card weekend first round
was a call what'll we call it now, divisional round
or whatever it is?
Speaker 4 (43:22):
Off car week Still still welcome weekend.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
Super wid Yeah, the extra team because of the night.
Speaker 7 (43:30):
But to me, that's going to be the best weekend
in football, maybe potentially in history, based off the matchups,
because I think every game. I love to see what
Vegas is gonna do, because it's gonna be to me,
there's gonna be a lot of coin toss games, a
lot of one and a half pointers, last few pointers.
Speaker 5 (43:42):
And after my sixtieth birthday, I think we should bring
the feast without the radio show.
Speaker 4 (43:46):
To the Las Vegas. That's a great plan. US four.
Speaker 5 (43:49):
You pay for it, you don't pay for it. Banker
Tim pays for it. Will be popping tax.
Speaker 7 (43:53):
Yeah, absolutely, Baker, Hey, Banker Tim and I can just
split it, you know, we can get something.
Speaker 4 (43:57):
We can get something off striple cheaper. Hey. Yeah, yeah,
Vegas is it's expensive. You going to your room from
the outside. You have a lot of deals get a
lot of deals.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
See when you own seven banks, you have two women,
you have one two women, one in each arm.
Speaker 4 (44:11):
It's just the way it goes.
Speaker 7 (44:13):
Yeah, I get to my dad was a farmer, Like
why can we be a bank or dad like this,
think about this on the day. But he was elite
with the teams. He was completely different level. Yips starts
a top little loose to squeeze that thing through.
Speaker 2 (44:26):
It is a it is a chip chair and chance postseason,
it's it's it's adding up to be that. What have
you thought about the Bears from Afar? I mean, what
an odd year this is going to be where you're
effectively flipping this whole operation on its head. The Kiddies,
I'm talking to Kitties fan guy that shows up here
feeling his pain with the old line and all the injuries.
Speaker 4 (44:44):
And Michael Parsons that Michael Parsons a great point.
Speaker 7 (44:48):
I think the Lions things bit is the funniest to
me because they were they were in the bottom for
so long.
Speaker 4 (44:52):
Now they've had these years of like, hey, this is
a lot of fun. Look at us now and.
Speaker 7 (44:56):
Again like this is just a situation where the NFL
is the ultimate I mean, these teams are gonna come
back around and be good again, and then all of
a sudden, like get yourself in the tournament and give
yourself a chance, Eli Manning O seven. You get a
quarterback that gets hot at the right time, a play
call that gets hot.
Speaker 4 (45:11):
At the right time.
Speaker 7 (45:12):
It's just like a goalie in the NHL, Like you
want those guys in the playoffs now the bears to me,
like when you started the season and we go there
and win that game the way we did, looking like
a really good win by the way, right now, what
you see though as a coach, that truly changed an
organization in my opinion. You have a quarterback. Yeah, I
think he just stops the radio show when he wants to.
Speaker 4 (45:31):
To, He walks up. He just does what he wants.
Speaker 5 (45:33):
The banker does. What's gonna leave early? It's five hundred
dollars per person.
Speaker 4 (45:37):
Yea, or just just lowder the mortgag, just lord of
the interest rate, just like a week, you know, let
us come in and get a couple of loans, get
some free money.
Speaker 2 (45:44):
I feel you're working some side that I'm not going
to be included in. Oh my lord the best. But
I think you see you see it.
Speaker 7 (45:50):
You see a head coach and how he impacted the
Lions and his that organization. It mattered when he left.
Now all of a sudden, he goes to Chicago with
this new toy at quarterback. Who's a who's a Who's
a creature.
Speaker 4 (46:01):
He'd be hard Williams.
Speaker 7 (46:03):
Yeah, and you now and you now see how a
quarter how a coach can impact an organization. And I
think what he's done is impressive and and and they're
a team to be to deal with, quite honestly, and
I'm it's gonna be nope. I mean, the only thing
worse than a Packer fan is a Bear fan. I
miss be honest right, My my in laws are Eagles fans.
Speaker 4 (46:24):
They're the top. I mean, they're we don't even talk
about them. But my in laws are Bears fans.
Speaker 2 (46:28):
You know.
Speaker 7 (46:28):
The whole crew from back in the Jenny's Way is
they're Bears fans that capist the clan.
Speaker 4 (46:32):
We don't want them to have anything nice. We want
to keep them down as long as we can. Amen,
what have you thought of watching JJ in the last
two weeks?
Speaker 7 (46:39):
Yeah, yeah, I mean it's you know, I was thinking
about this because it was games in Dallas, and you
tell the story all the time about me, about young
Chad two thousand and seven, and you're out there, you're
warming up, You're going crazy. Your mind's going a million
miles an hour. He did next one ten. I'm warming
up before the game. I'm going a million miles an
hour because that's how my brain operates. And JJ to
me is very similar to to just the mindset that
(47:01):
I had. I think he has a linebacker type of
mindset playing quarterback, and I also think he's playing fast,
constantly up in his break. So to go down to
Dallas in that environment and go win that football game,
no matter how it looked. He didn't put up these crazy,
gaudy numbers, but he went down there and won the
football game says a lot. You can talk about the defenses,
you can talk about all that crap. It's the NFL.
You're winning games. You're two and zero. Can you put
(47:22):
three of those together? Can the game start to slow
down for him at the end of the day, That's
all that's gonna matter. The game can start to slow down,
he can start to make that put air put air
out of the ball, you know, to JJ, in practice,
Can we do that now in a game?
Speaker 4 (47:35):
You know, like can we miss?
Speaker 7 (47:36):
Can we can we hit those that were just missing
by you know, six inches eight inches the one that
JJ has to catch the ends and you talked about,
but a couple of crossing rocks that were just missed
just high like just settle down, take a breath, Yeah,
make the play.
Speaker 4 (47:48):
But think about the game. Slow down.
Speaker 5 (47:49):
No, I haven't thought about that. I mean honestly, And
this is gonna sound like a wise cracking one liner.
We're a month removed with JJ McCarthy from doing a
Josh Freeman impression on Monday Night football.
Speaker 4 (47:59):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (48:00):
Now we're saying, hey, eighty ninety percent of them are
where they should be.
Speaker 2 (48:04):
They're on the run. Just tighten up with a couple
more that that actually is a big ten yards is
now one yard. The fact that you went Josh Freeman
this morning, like I was having a really good day.
I made the drive from Roseville to Apple Valley. Still
have a good positive mindset.
Speaker 5 (48:19):
There's a lady in Row one at US Bank Stadium
who had her nose broken by a football flying end
of the stand.
Speaker 2 (48:25):
Well, wasn't wasn't there a Freeman Primetime game against the Giants,
and we're both in New York.
Speaker 4 (48:30):
We're zero and six or one teams or whatever it is.
Broke my wrist in that game, and I'm doing with
the risk for ten weeks the rest of that season.
Speaker 2 (48:39):
Ten weeks Josh Freeman practice. Josh Freeman tried to bring
a python on the team flights. Yes, he because he
had a snake collection. He had the first off. He
couldn't bring his python. How do you play rap? Broke
his neck?
Speaker 4 (48:50):
How do you play at the broken risk? For ten weeks?
Speaker 7 (48:52):
So I broke the end of my radius off and
it broke another bone in my wrist. So at practice
I would wear a splint and tape it. In the games,
I would just tape it really tight. And when I
break it off, do you I mean it's just gone?
Then it No, it floats until you stop, and then
it grows back together. But the fun part about that season,
we'll talk about that season is we end up firing
Leslie Frasier. Great human being, right, great mobo coach.
Speaker 4 (49:14):
That sucked.
Speaker 7 (49:15):
The next call I get from the Vikings after you
play through you know, ten weeks of broken wrist is hey,
we think we should take some of your money the
off season.
Speaker 4 (49:22):
Oh that's great.
Speaker 7 (49:23):
I love this was a lot of fun. I just
played through all this stuff. Rick unbelievable, unbelievable. I'm sure
he's listening today.
Speaker 4 (49:32):
He's in New York. Fourteen. Oh yeah, thirteen thirteen, Right,
did you hit him with a spree? Well, just trying
to feed my family.
Speaker 2 (49:39):
Just trying to feed my family. Hey, all right, burn
rates up here. Let's let's let's close with these final two.
Nordo first. Yeah, we were talking about this yesterday during
bikes fight, speaking of money. This time of year, team's
not going to playoffs. People are playing for pride, people
are playing for the next year, maybe the next contract,
et cetera. We get all that, but I mean, if
(49:59):
Josh I'll Oliver gets two touchdowns the final three, he
gets a two hundred and fifty thousand dollars incentive.
Speaker 4 (50:04):
Do players in the locker room know that these things
are where they are incentive wise?
Speaker 7 (50:09):
Yeah, you don't keep that thing quiet, that's at all,
not at all. I mean those things are talked about.
I mean hopefully those all these players know the incentives
they are baked into their contract, and you understand what
they're dealing with. The ones that always got me was
the playtime percentages, which I'm not sure if there's still
that still a deal in the NFL contracts I was
back in the day, Yeah, and that was always one
was like, why are you stubbing that dude out right
now when you know he needs like sixty five percent
(50:31):
of snaps and he's ron sixty four.
Speaker 5 (50:32):
Wait, in your last game against the Giants, when I
was going through these game logs, you had.
Speaker 4 (50:37):
Like thirty five. You're near the end, so it was caught.
We've talked about that, but it was like thirty five,
forty two, twenty seven, thirty five to two. Yeah, I'm like,
were you sitting on something? They put you on a two.
Speaker 7 (50:51):
But when your back starts to hurt right now you're
thirty two, that's because you're carrying the way to the
world and the team unbelievable. Got four kids at home
just trying to feed my family wreck and you get
two snaps. But the nice part was I had no
playtime minimum, no playtime for minimum, so you get you get.
Speaker 5 (51:07):
Tell me, yeah, this new wrestling bit you've assumed this year,
the Friday Football Feast is my favorite.
Speaker 4 (51:12):
Next this next two weeks.
Speaker 7 (51:13):
You're gonna pay me a lot of money, and I'm
gonna play two snaps and maybe seven the next week.
Why Anthony bar and Eric can just go out there
and run around. I'm like, yeah, I can get in
my head around that one. I'll align with that.
Speaker 4 (51:24):
I'm thirty three years old, I played nine years, played
every snap.
Speaker 2 (51:27):
Whatever it was was that the was that the Giants
game twenty sixteen, Primetime Odell Beckham Juniors.
Speaker 4 (51:32):
And yeah, I had to been Yeah, absolutely, yes.
Speaker 7 (51:38):
There was an Eric swoop moment later in the season.
That part I don't remember, but the rest of it
I do.
Speaker 5 (51:42):
I think, Okay, well then then prognosticate this and uh,
after practice and everything, Alan and I were chatting in
the locker room a little bit and nor Do and
I either that day or a couple of days previous,
we're talking about Eric Wilson.
Speaker 4 (51:56):
Remember our Eric Wilson. Yeah, it's fascinating. Miss his shirt off.
But but here's the D said you in the locker room.
This shirt was off. Jack has arms unbelievable. Can we
talk about that for just a second? Sure, go ahead,
go ahead, and rhapsodized body of man.
Speaker 7 (52:09):
Well, you just you get you you look, you look
around in the NFL locker room, and you realize that
all things are not created equal, correct, right?
Speaker 5 (52:17):
Adrian Peterson, Daniel Hunter, Orlando Woolridge. Okay, So, Eric Wilson
came into the game in twenty seventeen undrafted Cincinnati UH
his first His first deal was for three years. He
averaged five hundred and eighty eight thousand dollars a year.
That's a good income. That's that's before taxes. That's that's unbelievable.
(52:41):
His first signing bonus into the league ten grand. Okay
net So. Then he goes on a handful of one
year deals with the Vikings in green Bay, always around
one point one million, one point three million. Green Bay
topped him out last year at one three and change.
The quasi train rolled in and it's like, here's the deal.
(53:03):
We're gonna double that for a year, make it two six.
But you're not calling anybody else. And then Eric Wilson
came here fifteen tackles for lost five and a half sacks.
They backed off on him on special teams a little
bit simply because it's like you can't play every single play.
I mean, he's a machine. So now at age thirty
one into his tenth year. Next year, Alec and I
(53:24):
were talking about this. I couldn't figure it out.
Speaker 4 (53:26):
I don't know. I can't remember if you did.
Speaker 5 (53:28):
Like, what kind of a deal is he sitting on
at age thirty one into his tenth year? Is he
going to take a one year deal from somebody for
like five six, seven million something like that.
Speaker 7 (53:40):
I don't know what the number is because I'm not
following the NFL contracts. I just know that he deserves
whatever he gets. Yeah, And I love a guy who
just goes through there. I can't remember the guy's name
when you started talking about this Buffalo Bills and have
been a really good rush end for the Bills, was
a special team or his whole career and being an
All Pro and Harry Hull or Lorenzo Alexander Lorenzo al Yeah,
and he played for Washington seven and you guys Sunday
(54:03):
Night football, played both ways and slew me away because
he was the h back in a defensive lineman and
led him in special teams tackles.
Speaker 4 (54:11):
The year Sean Taylor died and Greg Williams, I'm all
over wound up. Yeah, good, good, memory, good poll.
Speaker 7 (54:16):
And but you take a guy who is a special
teams player his whole career basically, and you give him
an opportunity.
Speaker 4 (54:22):
He's always been a probably a great player.
Speaker 7 (54:23):
Right now he gets an opportunity and matches his preparation
and he goes out there and just makes these plays.
He's always are on the ball, and he's he's getting
sacks and we're loving him, right and now you're you're
sitting on a I mean, what do you pay that guy?
Speaker 4 (54:34):
Well, you want to you want him to be here
because you don't want another you don't want another gap
to have to full. That's all next year. And I
think if you can, you go like, is he a
five million a year guy? That's six? Yea and I
were talking about it is it?
Speaker 6 (54:46):
Is it?
Speaker 4 (54:46):
I bet one closer to eight or nine.
Speaker 7 (54:48):
Pay that man two years, fourteen million, let's walk away
and give him high five.
Speaker 2 (54:51):
It's that type of deal, similar to what Mittellis got
what three and three and thirty six?
Speaker 4 (54:55):
I mean, yeah, but he's five years.
Speaker 7 (54:57):
Yeah no, no, no, no, no, I'm not saying I
kid play against what you say three thirty six.
Speaker 4 (55:02):
I could give him one more year be it.
Speaker 2 (55:04):
That kind of jump up, though, is what we're gonna see.
To the extent that I think he's gonna make eightish
million dollars a year, I.
Speaker 7 (55:09):
Think like that he should the two fok at his
production based off of where he's aligned and paid.
Speaker 2 (55:14):
And there's part of this with leverage. I mean, you
can appreciate the fact that Ivan Pace. It's not like
Ivan Pace doesn't deserve to be in the league anymore.
But Ivan Pace is not showing you that we could
just simply move on from Eric Wilson and it's just
good times with with number zero again.
Speaker 5 (55:29):
But what an elite call that was, because Lorenzo Alexander
is is commissarate to to Eric Wilson. It's less it's
less money because the less money was available then. But
like he started in two thousand and five, Lorenzo Alexander
and his first deal was for nine hundred and forty
thousand dollars, all right, and then it basically stayed around there.
(55:51):
Then he went to a series of one year, one
two millions. Then he got to Buffalo Man and the
whole thing came together. Like you said, his final two
years he made six million and three point seven million dollars.
Speaker 7 (56:03):
Yes, that's a good comparion. Yeah, I think And you
think back to that that first year of a million dollars.
Basically you're talking, you know, you're you're making a league minimum,
which at that point was three thirty five or three
fifty or something whatever the math works out to be.
So that's what That's what Wilson was on his first deal.
You go and get an opportunity with a coach that
has seen you work and see you grind and say hey.
Speaker 4 (56:23):
This kid can play.
Speaker 7 (56:24):
And and I think that you know what you talk
about like and we talked about this dive and pace
is that ivid. Pace was around the football making a
lot of plays. Now, his start of the season was
not maybe what we thought it could be. An opportunity
was given.
Speaker 4 (56:37):
He never played on defense anymore. Wilson was given opportunity.
And that's just the game. And all of a sudden,
Wilson comes in has earned it.
Speaker 7 (56:44):
And like I always thought about this from a contract standpoint,
is is you get paid based on what you've done,
not to me, what you're projected to do.
Speaker 4 (56:52):
Right now, you can look at that both ways.
Speaker 7 (56:54):
Right, we're gonna pay you fourteen million dollars over two
because we know you're gonna do this.
Speaker 4 (56:57):
Well, no, you're paying me that because of what I
just did. Yeah, so like he's earned it. Pay him.
You have so many guys out.
Speaker 7 (57:03):
There that are getting money that don't earn it and
deserve it. He's a great locker room guy, he's a
great person. He's a guy you want. He's a guy
you want your organization, and you appreciate.
Speaker 4 (57:11):
His job him too. Yeah, I mean good lord.
Speaker 5 (57:13):
And and like Jalen Naylor is going to be unrestricted, Uh,
Jalen Redman helped me with this e ERFA what.
Speaker 4 (57:21):
What's that mean? What's theation? But what's it mean?
Speaker 1 (57:24):
Though?
Speaker 6 (57:24):
Exclusive restriction, exclusive rights, free agency? Oh, the Vikings could
hypothetically offer him a one year minimum deal, which does
not seem fair with what Jalen Deudman has done this year,
and it makes nine under grand. So it's I that's
a tough situation. Been trying to work on it a
little bit. It's a it's an interesting one, right, but
they got those guys as free agents.
Speaker 4 (57:44):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (57:44):
So therefore now you're thinking about Wilson, that's actually one
that that I was just a huge one after the season,
here's the deal bro one and seven. Yeah, okay, and
if you can go find two and twelve and a
half two and fourteen?
Speaker 7 (57:54):
What just but with this now with the Redmond deal, though,
I think this is a good will opportunity for the
Vikings a step and say hey, we're gonna do this.
Speaker 4 (58:01):
We want you to sign it because we're working towards this. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (58:04):
And an agent understands when you're working with different organizations
of who's who's full of it and who's not. And
I think in this situation, how the Vikings have operated
their business is they know if they say something, they're
gonna most likely do it and or at least try
to do it or work to do it.
Speaker 4 (58:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (58:19):
And I think that's something where you say, listen, we
don't we know what this kid's doing and has done
and is going to do. Let's build that goodwill for
a deal that's gonna come during the season next year
or the year after going into free agency.
Speaker 4 (58:29):
You're playing fast. Yeah, thank you very much for there
is that car time. You know I had time to
think about it, do you?
Speaker 2 (58:34):
So?
Speaker 5 (58:34):
Does this mean Wednesday for the Christmas Eve feast you're
gonna go to Apple Valley and then get to rose
Ville at nine thirty five.
Speaker 7 (58:40):
I just want to see this thing in reverse. Yeah,
we've got a five day feast turn around. Yeah a
short wait. Yeah, I gotta hydrate. Yeah, I know, not
about it. Schedule is the schedule.
Speaker 5 (58:50):
Guys, you're so discombobulated now because of this drive here.
I've told you, I told we talked about the Christmas
Eve Feast of Moroccer Room.
Speaker 4 (58:57):
I don't remember that. I was. I was focused on
trying to come up with the Eric Wilson contrac rob.
It'll be okay. They always come back.
Speaker 3 (59:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (59:05):
What I'm most excited about is these last three is
this momentum we're building with the two. We just had
best ever with the feast or the team both all right,
but because we're playing fast. The team's playing fast. You know,
we're playing the fish in here. We're making we're making plays. Hey,
we'll see you guys on Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (59:20):
Anything with Great Duck and Great Duck Speer.
Speaker 7 (59:23):
It's the holiday season. If you're not going out to
buy Gray Duck, you're doing it wrong. I mean, it's
a Minnesota product. You're in Minnesota, it's cold. Your team's
either winning or losing best. We can solve both problems.
Speaker 4 (59:33):
Thank you. We still got the hoodies.
Speaker 7 (59:34):
Hoodies, hurdies are hot. Go on the website. You have website,
look at us now.
Speaker 4 (59:38):
Hey Keig Greenway. Ladies and gentlemen.
Speaker 2 (59:41):
If you ain't gonna see him for the Christmas Eve feast,
wish you merry Christmas. As he leaves with Alex Lewis
from the Athletic in Noordo from nine to noon.
Speaker 5 (59:49):
I'm Paul Allen. This is the Friday Football Feast of
Buffalo Wild Wings, Apple Valley. We have a fantasy component
to our radio show each and every Friday. It has
a charitable tie to it. It's called I Hop in
honor of Paul, and we will unfurl that when we
return to Cape
