Speaker 1 (00:04):
Tip out the Wolves home opener and this Sunday with
Meat Sauce joined Sauce at Kieran's Irish Pub from three
to five pm for a Sunday Bucket slam.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
What's the name of the place again, Enjoy.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Specials on Kona and michelob Ultra buckets and register for
your chance to win sign Timberwolves prizes. Full details available
at cafan dot com cubord calendar.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
What time will that bean?

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Three to five pm? Hey, what's Sunday at the place?
Huron's Irish Pub? Kieran's Irish camfan dot com cuburt calendar.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
The legendary meat Sauce will be there. You'll laugh your
face off. The is so funny you can hardly wait.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Oh, I'm busy between three and five.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
On Sunday, Yes, I'd be very busy watching football.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
No playing golf, no welf No well oh yeah, Vikings,
the Lions. The Vikings will be correct. They're playing Thursday night.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
The Lions have a bye, so there's no games at
uh will be of interest to me, So why will
play golf? The legendary one is here among frozen. It
was a winnable game against the Philadelphia. The Vikings were
within striking distance pretty much the entire game, but too little,

(01:17):
too late, a number of blunders by your guy Carson Wentz,
and then the defense they allowed a quarterback to put
up a perfect quarterback rating. And I know that I
had some pushback from listeners yesterday that somebody had some
metric that said it was fourteen something, or that the

(01:39):
Vikings had the best defensive performance of any team in
the league.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
I don't know. I look at what happened.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
And during Sunday's game, that's what by some max out
the window, that's.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
What I would say, because when they really needed to
make a stop, they could not, and they had a
third and nine late in the game, and somehow is
a raj let I don't remember who it was, one
of their wideouts get loose on the outside and that
was basically game set match AJ Brown Vikings lose twenty
twenty two. They fall to three and three green Bay wins,

(02:14):
Chicago wins, Detroit wins. Minnesota finds themselves at the bottom
of the division with a five hundred record. Green Bay
in first for one and one, Detroit five and two,
the Bears four and two, Vikings three and three. The
head coach just held his weekly news conference and announced
they McCarthy went through drills today at the TCO Performance
Center practice facility. They didn't get a good feel for

(02:37):
They don't think he's quite ready to play. So your guy,
Carson Wentz will get another start against the Chargers on
Thursday night.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Yeah, and that's surprised. I think the biggest issue right
now is what's going on on defense or what's not
going on in their defense. I mean, the quarterback players
speaks for itself. We can go go through all the
mechanics and the machinations of that, but the Vikings have
not had a turnover forced a turnover in three straight games.
They've never what I've read and the different sources saying

(03:08):
they've never gone four games without getting forcing a turnover.
That means never. So that continues to be a huge
issue for this team. And the number of times that they,
you know, have given up big plays on fourth down,
even starting with the opening drive against against Philadelphia, Barkley
had a couple of nice runs really for the only
time of the game. They shut him down pretty well,

(03:30):
but it was a fourth and four in the thirty
seven and hurts hit aj Brown and he beat Metallis
no rush, no rush, Dallas Turnament was trying to get
at him, didn't get close to him, didn't affect his
throwing motion. That's exactly the kind of stuff that's been
happening time and time again. And I don't know why
that is. I don't know what's happened to Brian Flor's defense.

(03:51):
They got healthier, they got another missing Van Ginkle, but
you know every team has got the injuries.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Was starting four guys in the secondary that were not
were starting this correct. You know what they're calling their defense,
not Legion of Doom, but Legion of whom?

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Yeah, well, can I get a room shot for that?
That's pretty good?

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yeah, well I stole, but they have not.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
You know, they had a couple of sacks, but they
weren't like turning point types. But that the inability when
you're gonna lose a turnover battle week after week. You're
shocking that they've won three games.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Honestly, Mike Rant told me his father told him one time,
on the sides games are big, big plays and turnovers.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
That's what my old buddies got studiball Us.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
So we gave them a bunch of big plays and
we didn't force any turnovers and we turned it over.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
To That's so with all the discussion about all the
handwringing about the quarterback situation, and yes, uh went through
that for the first interception, I mean, Brandale got trucked
over the middle by Jalen Carter and he just you know,
he threw the ball away and it was obviously a
poor decision and uh his returned for a touchdown. But
you know, they had pressure right up the middle. That's
exactly what I'm saying with the Vikings haven't been doing.

(04:58):
I don't remember Jalen Hurts situation like that where Hargrave
or Allen or someone was was bull rushing someone and
Hurts had to hurriedly throw the ball away. So that's
a concern. I mean that that's continuing to be a concern,
and we'll be you know again on Thursday night whether
they're gonna have to come up with more exotic blitz packages.

(05:19):
Hopefully Van Ginkle will return out into your KOC address
him at all and today, and I know he talked
about Aaron Jones, and that would be really nice to
have a guy who's the number one running back at
least give them another option in the backfield. But you
know they just you know, they don't have the look.
Obviously have a team that you know they can hang around,
but that's the NFL. But you got to make plays.

(05:42):
You have to make something happen. And until that defense
can make something happen and give I don't care whose
quarterback he at that point, a short field and an
opportunity to cash in, you're gonna end up losing close
games like this and that's where they are. They can't
get a turnover, and that that me is the biggest
problem with this team right now. There are.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
There's a lot of.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
The Natives are restless on the branch On Bryant Cavan
text line.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
This one says, whoops.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
This one says, clearly they're second guessing how good this
kid QB is and they aren't willing to put him
on the field. It's concerning that even a quarterback whisper
or KOs is afraid to play him unless everything is lined.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Up for him. Saying is that and I'm not finding
JJ m We saw JJ McCarthy the beginning of this
year because he had one good quarter, but afraid to
play him. So in other words, he won't play. Probably
we from he he's going to shut him down for
the rest of the season. That doesn't make any sense

(06:55):
at all. I mean, he's gonna have to have to
get his reps. He's gonna have to get his This
is why they drafted him. And he's going to be
a work in progress. We knew that from the beginning.
But he's got to. So if you put him out
there now and he's got to you know, he's not
one hundred percent. People seem to know better than the
training staff and everything that there somehow want Carson Wentz

(07:15):
in there more than JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
That's it's commonest footwork excuses bs. Is he building a robot?
His footwork isn't quite right? When is his footwork going
to be right? I don't know if it's you know,
it's something he's working. Listen, I brought O'Connell's not working
with Wentz on his footwork. I thought he was the
quarterback whisper. Why is he getting more on of Wentz?
I think the organization is failing. Carson Wentz more than Carson.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
Went Right is failing there. You like to fall back
on that.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Well, isn't that what the head coach himself said.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
He said, unterbacks, young quarterback thirty No, no, no, no, no,
he's thirty two. Number one. He was referring to young quarterbacks,
first second year quarterbacks. If you recall, I don't know
if you've ever heard the quoted now, but that's exactly
what he was referring to. You're you're misquoting him. It
was it was early. It was young quarterbacks, not guys

(08:07):
been around the league six years. You know, the young
players that that get get an opportunity to play and
they don't perform. You know, justin fields is how many
years into it now he's finally getting pinched, and you know,
because the Jets are the worst organization in the history
of the NFL. NFL and uh, they just.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
They got in the history.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
They've got a big game World How many World Championship
is the Vikings?

Speaker 4 (08:30):
Okay, go go common, I'm not going to play your game.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Well, but no, but you said they have been since then,
they have how many?

Speaker 4 (08:38):
How many playoff games they've been in?

Speaker 3 (08:40):
How many they were back to back AFC Championship games
with Sanchez?

Speaker 4 (08:44):
Yeah it was a wild but yeah, well, I mean
I'm just saying right now that it doesn't matter. I'm
not going to get in that whole discussion. But look
at the NFL, is is a is a grind every week.
Your team is to me, and I I said, I apologize.
I didn't expect to be this good. They're gonna they're
the best team in the NFC.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
They are.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
Yes, the Lions are the best team. And I think
along with right now, if you're gonna ask me for
a Super Bowl I would have to say it would
be destright against tennis team. I think Kansas City will
probably for the year. He said that Troy was going
to go backwards. I know, I I you were. Do
you listen, you guys listen. I just literally said, I apologize.

(09:25):
I was. I was, no, I don't listen after you really, guys,
don't listen.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
I think it's gonna be the Vikings and the Falcons
and after that after.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
That, no, I mean, I mean, look, look at the
truck and hit. It's rough spots. But I watched that
game again last night, and that team, they're.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
The best running back in pro football. They have one
of the best offensive lines in pro football.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
They now they replaced a couple of those guys.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
One of the best wide receivers is one of the
best tight ends. And Jared Goff is so good, he's
very I remember the Lions they got him, I got
I defended and everybody.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
He's not well, and we.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Saw it Tampa Bay. I think more than any other
team so far, they were able to put some pressure
on Golfing and like any quarterback, get in his face,
he's going to throw the ball off for grabs. Interception
he did, but he's still you know, he's not a runner.
He's not a guy that's going to be that evasive.
He can run when he has he does. But I
just think the Lions are clearly the best team right.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
All this is going to do is make Justin Jefferson
want to find a new team. And I don't blame him.

Speaker 4 (10:34):
I don't think that's a problem. Right now, Justin Jefferson
is doing quite well for himself and financially.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
But after a while, all the money and all the
diamond necklaces you wear world can't buy you happiness.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
There are wide receivers that are notorious. Most of them
are divas in terms of you know, get me the ball.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Steph wanted out a lot of guys want out.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Remember he wanted.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
All of that. Yeah, of course he didn't. He wanted
out of Buffalo.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Yeah, they all want out if they're not going to
get the ball and they're not going to win championship
in the ball.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
But he was.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
He was going to Addison. Every time all Wentz does
is throwing to Addison three out of it. It's like
it's like the Randy ratio except for Addison.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
No, they can't get the king zone, which is the
bigger problems. I mean, that's it's not so much between
the twenties. It's what happens when you get down in
the red zone. And that's again what the problem has
been with the Vikings. You can't get down the red
zone six times the kick five field goals and expect
to be a Super Bowl champion team like the Eagles.
So they do with not being able to chaos.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Kaos needs to listen to the fans. You don't want
to make an enemy of the fan base. We don't
want to watch onz. It's smoking mirrors. Young JJ isn't
helping enough to play the forty seven year old beat
up wins his I'm not buying it. They're all doubting
they're all about in the head coach, or doubting the
orders they should have on the Viking.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
They should have hired the guy they're coaching against playing
against on Thursday night. Remember when Jim Harboss sat down
and had a law long interview with the Vikings. I
wanted and Quacy and all the people over there at
Winter Parks sat down with Jim Harbaugh and he desperately want.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
We could have done right. We could resigned Sam Darnold
could have kept Danny Diamonds Dimes, well, Danny Rodgers, Danny
Dimes wanted.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
He would have. He would if he would have been
told you the starting quarterback.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
They weren't going to they weren't going to have it
that way, and started the first game of the season.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
You're right.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
So that's why Danny Dimes took a lot of money
and went to India.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
No, you're you're right. They didn't off from that, so
we left.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Had they said you're going to be the starting quarterback,
he would have stayed and he'd be throwing.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
Why would they have dimes for us? What I'm saying is.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
He's a young quarterback who here's what I'll tell you.

Speaker 4 (12:46):
So no Monday boarding quarterback.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Those organizations failed. The Giants failed Danny Dimes more than
Danny Dimes failed in New York football Giants.

Speaker 4 (12:54):
Well that again, that's does is Danny young enough? Does
he qualify? That's what New York teams have in common.
You know they failed quarterbacks more than any any other organizations.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
We failed Pastronaut, We failed him.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Hey got the game the other.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Day failed Sam Howell? Sam, we did? We failed him?
Oh well, Bright, We'll come back more to get to
with the roles in Tennebe. You got a keyword I think,

Pass common Man Program on Comedies. Tenneb Mark bows in
here as well. Here's another one says.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
Must be the worst ankle spraying in human history. Koc
knows JJ is a bust and won't play well.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
Is the sad doctor? High? Ankle sprains can take six
to eight weeks. I don't even remember him. Did he
leave the game with that ankle injury that was kind
of mysteriously just popped up the next day? Well, it happens.
The adrenaline keeps throwing and uh, the next day you
get hit with it.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
Okay, Sheldon, how are you a doctor?

Speaker 4 (14:28):
I'm just saying there's a history. You can look it up,
and I'm not suggesting that he couldn't try to play
through it. If he was Brett fav he probably would.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
How about this one.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
These are the same people who said McCarthy couldn't play
after the first two games of the season.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Common, I have to win draft him. Common, I have
to weigh in on this Vikings quarterback situation. I'll give
a non biased opinion because I'm a Buccaneers fan. Okay,
Vikings made a horrible decision letting Sam Mark Darnold walk.
They could have signed him to a three year deal
at Jay and let JJ McCarthy sit on the bench
and learn he still has two years on that rookie deal. Instead,
they thrust him into a starting position when he is

(15:04):
clearly not ready to start in the NFL. He's not
Jane McDaniels, he's not Caleb Williams, he's not Drake May.
It was a horrible decision by the organization one I
think deep down inside they know it.

Speaker 4 (15:17):
Had Jajon help me all be singing a difference, and
he was. He didn't practice all of last year. I
mean to say that they made a horrible decision is insane.
He may very well end up being a bust that
maybe I've said this over and over again, you're not

(15:38):
gonna You can't tell by now.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
You can't.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
You can't make that observation by saying, oh, man, this
guy let Michigan National championship, et cetera, et cetera. Harball love.
Everybody loves his his mindset about how he can play.
You know, those guys, all those guys you mentioned, got
a chance to play last year and go through some
tough times. McCarthy hasn't been there yet now Because of that,

(16:01):
the Vikings could have made the decision to say, you
know what, because JJ didn't get a chance to even
practice last year, we should be better off by by
going with a veteran this year and let JJ kind
of get learn the ropes. They had that opportunity to
make that decision. It's an it's an absolute given to
make that, to make that claim to say, you know what,

(16:23):
they should have stuck with Danny Dimes or given Sam
Darnald what he did over the course of the season
until the Detroit game, when he just had both hands
around his throat.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Well, everybody has a bad game, they do.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
I watched them last night, uh, and he had exactly
that type of game. He made some great throws, really
great throws, and other ones you kind of go, oh,
my goodness, I remember that, Sam Darnald. But Seattle's off
to a great start. But you could have made that
decision based on that. The Vikings decided to go a different,
different route, and they have to live with that decision.
But it's not because JJ McCarthy can't play right now.

(16:59):
And you know, listen, the Lions are on a bye week,
and if by based on what koc just said that
he's making improvements well, based on all that he has
to start against Detroit, I don't see there's any you know,
any way that he doesn't. And going into Detroit, how
good do you think that's going to look? With the
Lions coming off of bye and that team playing with

(17:22):
Aiden Hutchinson pack of lunch, It's going to be a tough,
tough afternoon for the kid. But I think you gotta
play him. You gotta let him play. What are you
going to do?

Speaker 2 (17:34):
Lions?

Speaker 3 (17:34):
Rumors have it or shopping for another edge rusher too.
They want somebody on the other side. Hutchinson's doing all
this without somebody else helping on the if they get
another edge rusher.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
By the way, do you hear Jerry Jones report of
Max Crosby flirting with Max Crosby after they just got
rid of Michael Parsons.

Speaker 4 (17:49):
He's so full of it.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
Oh my, your gopers club after a victory over Purdue.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
But they I mean that was one and where they were.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
They were outruged like forty eight to thirty, and they
just flipped that script on the on Nebraska. Nebraska came
in ranked twenty fifth in the country. They were an
eight and a half point favorite. My lovely white Potato said,
who do you think is gonna win? She didn't even
get the question completely out of the mouth. I said,
in Nebraska. I thought Nebraska would win the game. I

(18:21):
watch a lot of Nebraska football because that's where news
went to school. I've watched pretty much every one of
their games, not for the past four or five years.
I know I should get a life, but that team
win or lose, they got a little lions in them
because they seem to lose more than they win, especially
when they play ranked teams.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
But they're always in exciting games.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
But I thought the way they had played this year
that I thought, in coming off that pretty mediocre performance
with the Golphers lb at a victory, I thought Nebraska
would beat him. But the Golphers that was a pretty
complete ballgame for just a flex club.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
Pj's got his number, got the corners number. There are
a lot of court Husker fans I saw downtown over
the last over the weekend, and they went home very disappointed.
And that that you know, they provide a great atmosphere
much the way that you know Gopher fans will provide
that atmosphere. I think along with all the Iowa Faithful
as eight point underdogs. I think I'm surprised to go

(19:19):
over that big underdog in Iowa. But anyway, I digress. Yeah,
I mean they flipped the script completely. They sacked Rayola
at eight nine times and they shut them down and
Darius Taylor found his groove and you know, the quarterbacks
playing well, defense went after got after him, and so yeah,
it was a nice win. And they you know, they

(19:40):
able to storm the field and they beat Nebraska. And
that's the kind of team. These are the games we've
talked about over overcomon. You know, you're not gonna beat
Ohio State. You're not going to beat Oregon, Michigan. I mean,
I don't think they play Michigan this year. But you
got to beat Nebraska. You gotta beat Perdue, you got
to beat Iowa, you got to beat Wisconsin, who's awful
right now? Those are the games that that this program needs.

(20:02):
Why can't you beat Oregon?

Speaker 3 (20:04):
Indiana did in Indiana's on a different level, well, but they weren't.
How did is it Signetti? How did he do that?
How did he get that program turned around? Because that
they're spending a ton of money, Is that what it is.
I think a lot of it. They don't turn things
around that quickly, and kudos to him. And now he
just signed people are speculating it he might go to
Penn State. He just signed a new contract extension at Indiana.

(20:27):
He ain't going anywhere, So, I mean, what used to
be just the basketball school is now turn into you know,
their rank. Second, they're going to compete for the national
championship and that that that's happened in a pretty quick hurry.
So I mean it shows you what NIL can do.
And and you know, listen, they got to get the
right people in there, and they deserve all the credit
in the world for turning around a wobegone program that's

(20:48):
never really done much of anything. So the golfers have
to just keep beating the teams right now that they
can compete with. And that's another one. On Saturday afternoon
on national television, chew on this common koc and quays
he desperately wanted Drake May.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
They didn't offer enough to move up to get him.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
The Vikings broke the same rule that's Spieling made in
twenty eleven.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
Do not draft a quarterback you're not in love with.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
It feels like we've been trying to talk ourselves into
McCarthy being it for eighteen months. Vikings should have kept Donald.
The goal is to find a good quarterback, and they did.
Even if Donald threw a wrench in.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
The McCarthy playing, How does he know that the Vikings
didn't offer enough for Drake May. They offered a lot
for Drake May, not enough. Well, New England basically shut
the door on any offers that they came their way,
So you can't just say that while they should have
given him.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
Is it time to board up TCO performance in it?
What I'm just asking do you think it is?

Speaker 4 (21:44):
I hope not.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Do you think we should board it up for the season?

Speaker 3 (21:46):
No? No, all right, very good. We'll take a break,
come back on a number of other items I want
to bounce off. Mark Rosen wild Win. We'll start their
season tomorrow. World Series begins in the next day or so.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
I think maybe Friday.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
Well break, we'll come back. One more segment to go
here on the Common Maan program on the fan.

Speaker 1 (22:11):

Speaker 3 (22:28):
Apparently there is a franchise name change coming in the
National Basketball Association.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
They're going to call them the Olden State Warriors. The
Olden State Warriors, Thank you very much.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
Here's another text message, keep boring in between quasis media training.
In koc's coach speak, this organization's prime for avoiding tough questions.
They're trying their best to perfectly navigate this JJ issue.
They cannot admit they drafted the wrong QB. We've seen
a history of terrible draft picks by QUASI and for
the pick that was meant to turn the organization around

(23:01):
and lead them into the future, they cannot admit so
they were wrong.

Speaker 4 (23:09):
You're missing all of last season, playing basically two games
this year.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Poorly worst quarterbacking performance.

Speaker 3 (23:15):
I think I've ever seen seven of the Josh Freeman play, Well,
that's seven or nine.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
Okay, I'm just say based on that, and do you
want to go back and look at some of the
other quarterbacks first couple of games. I'm not defending him,
I'm just saying when people say that they can't admit
that they they made the wrong decision based on what
they've seen in two and basically two games.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Rosie seems on edge today.

Speaker 4 (23:41):
The age at all. I'm very mellow. On edge, No,
not at all, just where some people would talk about
the Vikings defense more than the quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Their last place.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
The third of the way through the season, Quasy and
Kaos have bungled this organization. You won't hear from the
Vikings again until twenty thirty one. Wow, wild one. They
beat the Rangers in the garden. I saw a couple
of minutes of it.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Young kid got his first ever goal. Tend to be right.
What's his name?

Speaker 4 (24:10):
You're of the Russian kid? Yeah? We love the Russians. Yeah,
the Russians. You love the Russians.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
I mean yes.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
You'll be rooting against Toronto in the World Series because
you don't light teams.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Are you rooted or no?

Speaker 4 (24:24):
You root for Toronto?

Speaker 2 (24:27):
Well?

Speaker 4 (24:28):
No, I love the city of Toronto and I love
I just said I'm not an anti Dodgers. We know that.
Think you're anti American, anti American. The money, amount of
money the Dodgers have spent, we all know it's it's well, no,
they made some great decisions, but they got Otani out
of the other part of l A. You know, he

(24:49):
wasn't exactly going broken in what the Angels was. He
wanted to win a championship, you wanted to win a
World Series.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
Do you blame him?

Speaker 4 (24:55):
No, But that's what I'm saying. Everybody does. They don't
they have enough room of the band wagon. And yes,
I want Toronto to win. I mean, I feel bad
for the fans of Seattle last night. That was you know,
I know you're that was as crushing a loss for
a franchise that's never made it to the world. Well,
they at the end, Dan Wilson did not make the

(25:16):
right decisions. I think with a not getting his closer
in there, that's a whole nother discussion. I'm sure the
Seattle fans are. And even though I had flipped over
to watch the football game, you could I think you
could tell when that moment when they had the announced
the score, but people were obviously looking at it on
their phones. People were rooting for the Seahawks last night,
but there the game was ending at the same time,
and that was that was twins. Like I mean, that was.

(25:38):
That was Kirby Puckett, jump on my back springer hitting
the three run home in the bottom of the seventh
to basically win the game for him. Uh and for Toronto.
You know, it's been you know since what two thousand
and three, I don't know, it's been a long.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Time, A long long time, no, ninety three.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
Well, and when I was there last year in Toronto
and took a tour of the Rogers Center and they
took ahead, took a little picture if they have a
tribute to Paul Mallerer there, of course was there, Mollie,
we call him, yeah, and uh yeah, I want Torono
to win. I'd love to see them.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
I root for an American team. You can go ahead
and root for America.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
Until Canada becomes the fifty first state, which is going
to happen soon.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
I can't root for him.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
It might you know, Tony pitched six innings of shutout
ball and he hit three home runs. They are calling
it maybe the greatest single postseason performance in baseball history,
and I guess you could certainly make that argument how
unique it is. I mean, only two other times have

(26:38):
pitchers I think I think they were in postseason.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
Hit three home runs and pitched it.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
And now they didn't pitch as effectively and strike out
as many hitters. But it was some guy from eighteen
ninety eight and another guy from nineteen forty two, and
I don't remember either. Nay, here's what I will say, though, Yes, sir,
it was very impressive, but I'm not taking anything away.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
But it was Game four.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
The NLCS, and that's still impressive. But it Morris didn't hit,
but he pitched ten shutout innings in Game seven of
the World Series. So the uniqueness of it that he
was a I mean, because Babe Ruth I think, also
hit three home runs in the game in May, and
maybe he pitched as well in the World So, I.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
Mean, we all know Ruth was. Ruth was one of
the only other guys.

Speaker 3 (27:22):
I mean, when you think of some of the players
that have been able to play both ways, Like, for instance, I.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Was reading a story and it made some sense.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
You're not going to see a goaltender shut out a
team and score a hat trick, right, that's kind of
the equivalent, Right, You're not going to see a quarterback
throw for three tuddies and have two pick sixes on
his own you know, catching him and returning playing.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
Defense as close as we have these days as Travis
Hunter in basketball.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
You you know, that's made a bit more for doing
a lot of different things. You can get triple doubles
or such like that, but it is in astonishing achievement.
I don't think there's any question about that. But you know, again,
I also think when I weigh most impressive performances in posty,

(28:10):
that has to be up there. And I'm not saying
then you could make the garments that it is because
it was the home runs and the pitching in the
same game. It was spectacular, but it was just you know,
I say, only but game clinching game and if you'd like,
if he could have got shelled in the person and
they lived to play another day.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
Well, the story is the strength of the Dodgers rotation.
I took a quick glimpse at the pitching matchups for
the World Series, which starts Friday night in Toronto. Well,
Tani's not pitching until the third game. He doesn't need to.
They are, Well, they.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
Decided to spend you know, the money, and they spend
it on pitching, and the Twins could learn the lesson.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
There between but there's the Dodgers have.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
The Twins had an opportunity to have some pretty good
pitching when they had they had Lopez, and they could
have resigned Sonny Gray. And I'm telling you the Snell
guy was available. I begged the two Punts to sign him.
And you know, I get it. He might not have
wanted to sign here, but he may have if you said,
look it, We've already got a couple of really good pitchers.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
But anyway, and now they're they're pitching staff. I mean,
the Brewers.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
They beat them six games, They swept the two regular
seasons series. They had a grand how many runs did
they score? And I think they only had like three
games in the first three. They just the pitching is
is pitching is what you know?

Speaker 4 (29:36):
That's it. That's the name of the game. Yeah, in Toronto,
it's being hard pressure to match that, you know, the
emotion that they have, and they have a good staff.
They have a good very good hitters, obviously with the
Guerrero leading the way. And it just seems like it's
gonna be insturmontable odds to not try to knock off
the Dodgers since try to beat them four times that's

(29:56):
not that's not going to be easy at all, and
that's where the all the World series. But you know,
it's still it's it's a fun story. It's a great story,
and there'll be massive underdogs to the Dodgers. Will beat
the Yankees last year and got going for a repeat
again and again. I Seattle had their I mean, I
can't imagine. I saw some of the interviews after the
game and to feel the weight of the city that

(30:18):
that and the you know cal Rawley who's had you know,
had this you know, historic year as a catcher with
the sixty home runs and you know he was.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
They've won it, They've won big games, They've won NBA championships.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
I can't worry about the city.

Speaker 4 (30:32):
No, they've never never been to the World Show. I'm
not so baseball, I can't they want to. Well, I'm
not shetting a tier. I'm just talking about that from
a sports standpoint, that that was a you know, and
for the players, I mean it was It's nice to
see that people actually care, is what I'm saying. People
always like, well, well they got so much money, they
don't care. Really Walking the clubhouse last night, I've been
in a few of those losing clubhouses and locker rooms. Yeah,

(30:54):
of course they. The city feels it. I mean, that's
what fans are about. I mean, I'm not feeling I'm
not shetting a tear for him. I'm just saying that
it's like you embrace the suck because the Lions have
sucked for generations. So it doesn't I.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
Don't want anybody to feel sorry.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
No, I know you don't, but I mean that there
are people that do. You Look at the face, you know,
the people that that pour their hearts into it. Look
at the the text messages you're getting today. Six games
into the NFL season.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
We're dead lasting, drafted the wrong corner.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
And as Tennis said that the Vikings beat the Chargers
this week and beat the Lions, they'll be they'll be
ahead of the Lions in a week and a half.
And that's not likely to happen, but they have an
opportunity to do it.

Speaker 3 (31:40):
It sounds like you're doubting the Vikings. You should have
been a prosecutor. Well you just said that happened, Well
it could happen. Yeah, we'll start their season. Uh, you
know what the whole trick is. I read in the
paper today. Needs more sleep. He gets more sleep. We're
going to win the nbcha Alm just needs to get

(32:03):
some more.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
So those twenty four year olds just don't sleep enough.
They're playing video games all night.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Four in the morning. Then he gets up at six.
He's wearing ago. That's what he did when he's in school.

Speaker 4 (32:12):
Well, and we all do that when we were twenty.

Speaker 3 (32:14):
So I don't know if he's got a sleep number bed.
But he did talk to the state doctor. Wait talked
to us. Maybe it's the fitness king, and they said
he said, well, I'm getting six or seven.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
They said you need nine or no. I think they
said you need nine or ten.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
He goes, I'll go over seven and eight for now
all he needs and you get more sleep and we're
going to win an NBA.

Speaker 4 (32:31):
Well that might be the secret.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
Yeah, he's going to try to play defense start to finish.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
He's tried to basically said he's going to will this
team to an NBA championship. He's apparently worked on his
mid range jumpers.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
He claims that not playing any international basketball this past
offseason has helped him work out. I'm excited to see
if you know, because we've heard him and other athletes.
They talk a good game and then it really doesn't happen.
I hope it does, because we know what a special
talent he is. We talked about it the other day
when we were talking about.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
You know, all the all these.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
You know, these websites will right there, you know, the
top players in the NBA, top players in the NHL,
they all you know, and and ants in the top
ten and everyone. Now he's not, he's not ranked as
the best player, but I think I think most of
them have had him like at five or six or seven,
you know, and that's that's that's that's that's that's that's rarefied.
He well and so, but there has been a couple

(33:29):
of things missing, they pointed at.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
The organization's pointed it out to him. He has agreed
with it.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
And if he is able to develop a mid game jumper,
play defense, you know, start to finish in more, and
do it in all games, and don't take nights off
when you're playing a terrible team in a terrible city,
maybe that will be.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
Enough to lift this team to the next level.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
I mean, I mean get out of that Western Conference
finals and get to the NBA.

Speaker 4 (33:58):
Well, he's talked a good game, No, he has to
back it up. And I think after a year ago,
I was out in LA when the Vikings were playing
the Rams, and I saw my son and I went
to the opening game against the Lakers and Julius Randall,
and you could tell how oddest sorts they were. They
had not played with each other, you know that played together,
So Devincenzo and Randall, I mean, I think I expect
a lot more cohesion immediately. And that's the suggest they're

(34:22):
going to roll over Portland more night and go out
start the season ten and one. But I think that's
the whole point is that these guys have now had
a lot of time together unlike a year ago, and
Randall was getting used to a new city and new
team with this and the rest of it in particular,
and Randall and Edwards ed heard Finch on with the
PA I think for a little bit today, and those
two need to play play off each other quite well.

(34:44):
Randall's absolutely the second guy that they have to rely
on offensively. Well, you can fill up a box score.

Speaker 3 (34:51):
I would tell you Randall might be really the key
to the success of the team because I think Edwards
will have. Even if he doesn't the mid rage jumper,
even if he doesn't play defense start to finish, he's
still so good. He will help the team get to
their fifty plus wins.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
He'll do his job.

Speaker 4 (35:10):
He will.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
I think they need Randall to me seemed last year
he came and he went.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
He came and he went there too.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
But that last one he came back from that injury.
Was it like the last twenty four to twenty five.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
Games, he was really really good.

Speaker 4 (35:26):
And that's the way he needs to start off this year.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
That's exactly.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
And if he's able to play like that, then I
think the team does have a very good chance to
for sure obviously not only just make the playoffs, but
get back to that Western Conference finals and maybe you know,
get to the other side well.

Speaker 4 (35:41):
To see if Finch actually will. I mean he's talked
again talking about talking a good game, expand his bench
and get those guys, get Terren shann in some quality minutes.

Speaker 2 (35:51):
I think he will Rob Dillingham.

Speaker 4 (35:53):
He has to. You can't just go with you know,
Edwards and Randall and Gobert and Evencenzo and you know
nas Reed and Jaden McDaniels over and over and over again.
You got to get these guys, even your bones Highland.
I mean, they got to get guys that can come
in and give you some bones, don't you just like
saying Bhiland, I just if you're gonna have a nickname
for a sports a basketball player, that would be that's

(36:15):
that's person. No, not at all. So we'll see.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
But yeah, I mean they starts.

Speaker 4 (36:22):
Tonight, I think. Okay, see starts the defense of their
Houston tonight. Yeah, catch some of that. I guess Houston's
got a pretty good club. They were good last year.
That's a nice organiza say, the whole Westest Stack. Oh,
pretty much, can't wait.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
You'd like this coming, you'd be at the home opener.

Speaker 4 (36:39):
I don't think that's I don't know. Sunday night, I
don't even I don't think so what is a home opener?

Speaker 2 (36:45):
Do you have any idea? I know your hockey guys,
you're part of the hockey community.

Speaker 4 (36:48):
Sunday night, six o'clock against the Pacers. That could mind
my people steak over there?

Speaker 2 (36:52):
Yeah, you might be able to fight for you over there.

Speaker 4 (36:55):
In the following night they host the Denver Nuggets.

Speaker 3 (36:57):
Yeah, closer, who is Who's you know who's your guy
over at Lexus Club, Charlie, Charlie, Charlie, Charlie Swanson.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
Just so you know, Mark, I'm.

Speaker 4 (37:10):
Sure, Charlie, I'm here.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
Yeah, I'm sure. A minute.

Speaker 4 (37:16):
I don't know if he has those tickets anymore. Hate me.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
I got a great Halloween costume for you.

Speaker 4 (37:21):
Oh, I haven't heard that.

Speaker 3 (37:23):
Some cut some eye holes out on his sheet that
can go as the best sheet in the house.

Speaker 4 (37:29):
That's pretty good. It was we're gonna have the Madison
Square lighting this year in the Target Center. You know,
that's what a Rod and Mark Laurie decided to do.
They're gonna have that dark You.

Speaker 2 (37:39):
Know what else they're going to do.

Speaker 3 (37:40):
What's that Let's say you want to sell your court
side tickets after half times, you can put them.

Speaker 4 (37:46):
We haven't heard more about that.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
I think maybe they decided that's a bad I.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
Don't know how that's going to work out.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
Somebody said it real nice email. I say that.

Speaker 3 (37:54):
I'll read it maybe sometime this week, where he said
one of the one of the most enjoyable things he did.
He had really good lower level seats, decided to leave
and he just went up to a mother and a
son and said that we're way up in the nose
pleased and said, how would you like to sit down there?

Speaker 2 (38:09):
And he just gave him. Didn't they'd have to pay
money for him.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
He just gave them to them, and they that's the
way it should give them out of the goodness of
your heart, not to get you. And I think, if
I'm not mistaken, if you if you put them back
into the pool, are the wolves getting a cut of that?

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Are they not?

Speaker 4 (38:25):
I don't understand then that they're making money.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
Isn't that convenient?

Speaker 4 (38:32):
They're not doing the.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
Last The one quote from Mark Glaury that sticks out
to me is they said I'm flushed with cash. Remember
when he said that I'm flushed with Well, you're flushed
with cash. Why didn't need more? These guys guys never
have if they never have enough, it's sad, I know.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
So yeah, so I'm uh, I'm Here's what I'll tell you.

Speaker 3 (39:00):
I mean, I don't think the season is completely over
for those but they got to win Thursday night.

Speaker 2 (39:03):
They need to go.

Speaker 4 (39:04):
Yes, they do.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
And then that Wentz can't make anymore. Say if wins,
just you can play. If you just don't make any
mistakes and if the defense.

Speaker 4 (39:15):
Can you defense has to show up. Yeah, I'm sorry
to keep harping on that, and I'm not.

Speaker 3 (39:20):
They should be able to Okay, they're all they're not.
They're a good team, but they're not a great team.
So we and I know it's there, but I'm sick
and tired of being sick and tired of it.

Speaker 4 (39:30):
We should we should be four and three Thursday night.
We should defense. We need to make something happen.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
I'm just over Detroit is going to get not only
have a buy, but they have it's like a two
week break.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
Yeah, yeah, and you know they're going to get all
sorts of players back.

Speaker 4 (39:49):
Maybe they won't even you know, they don't even need them.
It's that's that's an ideal situation for the Vikings to
roll into Detroit with.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
I think the war has been restored.

Speaker 4 (39:58):
I think, well, I think you're going to see them
in the big game this year finally. But that's just me.
You average you better otherwise next year I will say
their windows score.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Yeah, remember you just told me it was slams.

Speaker 4 (40:13):
I thought that they would be missing those coordinators a
little bit, and they haven't missed a Ben.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Johnson doing a nice job, and I know they haven't beaten.
Great club and.

Speaker 4 (40:22):
A nice job. Yeah, good for good for Kevin Warren
and uh.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
In carn a car. What do you guys? You guys
are going to go to Chicago knowing.

Speaker 4 (40:33):

Speaker 3 (40:35):
Well know you will, Thank you, thanks for coming in.

Speaker 2 (40:39):
You're out tomorrow. You're back on Thursday.

Speaker 4 (40:41):
Uh, I'll be back. Yeah, I got to be here.
I'll be here from spread swing from one thirty, yeah,
jump out swing but having a little surgical procedures.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
Okay, very good. We'll see you that on Thursday. Tennyb
thanks for having meat job. Yeah you as well.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
You were really special today. I think I was too.
We had to do anything. We had opening and waited
for the tap dance. The coach did this thing and
then we bounced stuff off Mark Rosen and got him going.

Speaker 2 (41:06):
We're back tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (41:06):
We're twelve Newman, stick around, big ticket JG there next
talk to him around twelve new right here on the Fame.

Speaker 5 (41:14):
Good night God, all right, got good night books, and
good night missus Calabash.
