Speaker 2 (00:44):
Sixty fourteen podcast, sixty four dot com, sixty sixty four,
sixty four the sixty four dot com.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
They do brackets for just about everything.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
They do brackets about brackets, and it's like they're doing
a podcast bracket and.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Three radio sports show Slash podcast Radio and they have
three of the uh KFA A radio shows are on it.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
A Common Man, Paul Allen and the Partit Morning Show.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
If it goes how well, I don't think we're getting
on the first ground.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
You never know, well, you know, well, people can vote.
Speaker 5 (01:19):
For it, right, It's not like there's a judge of Jersey,
I know, but we're facing Carts and Anderson.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Where are they from Detroit? Troit? Oh?
Speaker 5 (01:26):
Well, think they have a bigger market in Detroit. I guess,
I don't know, pretty close.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Maybe Detroit's a and then I received this text message
from the match I'll run Cavan. Text line says Common
opens at plus thirty one point five versus Carts and
Anderson in the round of sixty four. I mean, I'm
a favorite. I don't know what plus thirty one and
a half ten to be? Am I a favorite?
Speaker 3 (01:53):
No? No, and plus is underdog?
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Oh yeah, So see, I'm I'm a I mean, he's
a heavy underdog.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Thirty one votes or one?
Speaker 2 (02:02):
No, it's it's just plus thirty one five.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
I'm I don't know what percentage or actual votes. He's
just doing a bit. He's trying to heavy underdog. It
was just a bit. It's a bit. The WORL Show
is a bit.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
It's just like, I don't take anything I say seriously.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
I don't know what's going to fly out of my mouth.
Speaker 5 (02:18):
Correct.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
But so I'm a heavy underdog.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
But if I were to advance out of the first
two matchups and the power trip was.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
We could beat them, we could meet them in sixteen.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Yeah, you know what, got a message for the Power
Trip show. By the way, I'm just in your mirror,
maybe closer than they appear.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
I got a goose punch. Yeah, we're fine, We'll be
just fine.
Speaker 5 (02:44):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Your Wolves club, you watched them last night? I watched some.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
I didn't watch any.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I decided when Tennyby gave me the programming predicament.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
It was wild.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Wolves and umb Go for women's basketball. Now, I know
I could watch all three. You know you could bounce
round back and fourth. The hockey game started later so
that I could have caught pieces of all those games.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
That's too much for me to consume.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
I have a very small mind. There's too much clutter
in here. So I decided to pick one. I picked
the women's basketball team. I have not watched much of them.
It was a very entertaining basketball game.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Rock Jock, Rock Jock, Rock Hawk, Tay rock shot.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Uh, what's it called in Kansas? Is a rock Shock
rock Shock Jayhawk at Allen Center. It was an entertaining
basketball game. I enjoyed it Allan Field, Yeah, I enjoyed
the game.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
It was back and forth the entire uh, in the
entire second half I mean, it was never more than
six points separated. Gophers are always kind of playing catch
up a little bit. I mean, they had the lead
a couple of times in the second half, but it
was only a one or two point lead, and then uh,
Kansas hung on to.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
Win the game. They got a couple of free throws late.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
But it was fun. It was an interesting game. Yeah,
and you watched the Wolves are part.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Of it, and I I talked about the Wolves earlier.
I just read the recap of the game, and I
just kind of know how the NBA works. I'm sorry,
and I know that the basketball community just thinks I
just despise the NBA. I don't despise it. I'm just
not a big fan of regular season NBA basketball because
I think once one team that's ten and four going
(04:20):
or no.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Nine and five going into that game.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
I think the Oles record was nine and five or whatever,
nine to five going into the game and Washington's one
and twelve, Well you already know the outcome is basically,
I mean, I guess there's a possibility that Washington could
win one for the Gipper, but the Wolves got out
to an early lead, and I think at that point
the Wolves just go, well, we can do whatever we
want here.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
I mean we can, we can.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
We can play at three quarter speed for a while.
They'll cut the lead, then we'll get it back up.
It's sort of like if you're you know, you're, you're you're,
you're you're teasing somebody, you know what I'm saying, Like
you're holding out.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Yeah, look at you, like what I got for you here,
and then they.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Come after it, and then then you pulled it away
from them. And that's what I think that game was
last night. Is that accurate or not?
Speaker 5 (05:01):
It's accurate because the Wolves took a twenty seven point lead,
which I I didn't see any of the first half,
and I was, Uh, we were having dinner. Karen was
gott home getting got home late, so we had a
late dinner and so I didn't have the game on.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Did you go out to dinner? No?
Speaker 5 (05:13):
No, we made cod last night. God and I'll see
we have we have salad and something anyway. Yeah, yeah,
it was really good. We haven't had that one.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Did you cook?
Speaker 5 (05:24):
We put in the air fire, so she did that
and I made other stuff the airfire. My wife and
I have been considering getting in love for her. Are
they love terrific? Oh yeah, it's uh short fight. Well,
I think for a lot of different foods it is. Yeah,
it's it's really pretty easy to use. So yeah, so
I wasn't watching, you know, checking my phone once in
a while, and then you know, I saw they were
(05:46):
up by twenty already and that wasn't gonna be a kewak.
But you know, we got done, and uh, she wanted
to get to better early for she had a big
day to day, and so I put the Wolves game
on and all of a sudden, I was texting with
my son out in La. You know, the Wolves were
up by six or something right now, and you know,
never felt like they were going to lose the game,
(06:06):
but it was. I mean, it reminded me of a
lot of those games the Wolves played a few years
ago when they had let a team like Washington hang around.
Then they'd end up losing to him. And I want
to say, I got to give credit to so you know,
they're professionals. You know, Chris Middleton's a good basketball player.
He plays with Washington. McCollum has been around for quite
a while. He's a good player. I don't know many
(06:27):
of the other guys are bag He's been you know,
been in the league for a while now, but you know,
and the Wolves eventually pulled away one by a love
nothing that you know they were playing with at Jane
McDaniel's got the night off. He had a I think
a sore risk or sprain rist. Hopefully he'll be back
to our night against Phoenix. But Edwards continues to have
second or third straight really poor shooting nights. I mean,
(06:48):
he was six for twenty and one for eight from three,
and it's just like he's just, you know, his swing
is off, as they say, I mean where we've been
analyzing to death.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
JJ McCarthy's a throwing motion. Edwards.
Speaker 5 (07:03):
I'm sure you know he'll just try to shoot himself
out of the slump that he's in right now.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
But it's not Is there a reason to be concerned?
Speaker 5 (07:10):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (07:10):
I would hope not.
Speaker 5 (07:11):
I don't. I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Do you think he's peaked and now he's just going
to be an average player?
Speaker 5 (07:15):
No, I do not. Julius Randall continues to have kind
of an all star start to his his season. He's
been their best player game in game out with you know,
thirty two points ten rebounds. Gobear had fifteen rebounds. Jalen Clark,
who I've been really impressed with, and Na's red. Nas
is really a playing coming into his own well playing
(07:36):
I think the highest level of his career. I mean,
just I heard Tom Crean on Creanon. I think with
Berrero yesterday, he's you know, he kind of broke down
his his swing, his shooting motion and how quick he's
getting rid of the ball. And he had twenty eight
off the bench last night. Dillingham, Oh, I still, you know,
I expect more from him. He only played nine minutes,
but you know they're letting them shoot. The opponents were
(07:57):
and he was just one for six. It just wasn't
really coming close. So you kind of hope he's going
to figure things out. He's still very young, but that's
a worrisome position still, I think overall with this team
against the better, better team. So yeah, they you know,
they did what they had to do and you close
them out, and you know it's just you feel sorry.
There's some really bad teams in U in both in
(08:19):
both conferences right now in Washington, like I said yesterday,
they're more like, you know, team that used to play
the Washington Generals that played the Globe Truck.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
With with with a struggling like he is. Would you
trade him for Scoot Henderson? Who's Scoot Henderson? He's a
point guard for the Trailblazers. Probably not if he continues
to play like this for much longer, if he gets
if the Christmas break playing like this, Yeah, I'm traded
for school Scoot Henderson.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Yeah, well Scoot and Scooter around the court.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
Yeah. I have not not familiar with this game, so yeah,
I mean it's you march on, you take the win,
you're ten and five, and you move on to the
next one, and you don't.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
I find it interesting in the relationship you have with
your wife. She is busy morning, noon and night and
you have nothing to do.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
And that crazy. That's true.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
I'm I love that I got. You have, you know,
a podcast once a week and three hours. Here you
do work four hours a week and I do Schull
Stories for the Vikings and I do Fox nine pregame
show for an hour.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
I say, you work five hours a week. Well, whatever
it is, I'm I'm yeah, I'm tim. I retired. This
is what I'm doing after fifty years of no I.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Know I'm it's just I'm just saying it's amazing to me. Yeah, well,
because she's she I mean as as lead legal counselor
at the MINNESOTA'M like, she's busy constantly, and.
Speaker 5 (09:41):
You just a lot on her plate, the contracts that
come through her desk, and I see, holy, okay, how
about this. I'm just kidding.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
So she gets up and she's, you know, on our
way over to winter Park, and then you just go, okay, honey,
see when you got she got back and relaxed.
Speaker 5 (09:53):
She you know, she's a workout fanatics when she was
up at she got up at five thirty this morning
and went downstairs and got to work out in. Then
you know, I was, well, she.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Was going to get up that early. She could have
went tomorrow to check the suit. You could come and
key card to go.
Speaker 5 (10:06):
I let her know that next time. It's not exactly
on our way to TCO, but it's not too far. Yeah,
it works all great, And yeah we got you know,
I've seen some friends for dinner tonight. We've got a
fashion show, a big fundraiser tomorrow night. A lot of people,
one hundred and forty models if you want to call
them that.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
You're modeling you and you aren't going to wear the
white robes.
Speaker 5 (10:25):
And I thought about that. That would have really been hysterical.
Good are you wearing? We were in a suit and
uh pretty, you know kind of you know, it's we're
sponsored by Martin Patrick. So we're wearing Martin Patrick's clothes.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
That a really nice store. It is a great store.
So she's wearing uh clothes from there.
Speaker 5 (10:44):
And yeah, it's all for the Masonic Children's Hospital. It's
a big deal to the deep ot to morrow night.
So we're excited to partake in that. And his meat
Sauce going to be wearing his women for the fashion show.
I'm not sure I Beat Sauce is involved his.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Lululemon and his white Athletics socks to get at Target
along with Home Alone too.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
That might be the case. Yeah, yeah, speak of my podcast.
I throw in a plug for that next Monday. I'm
thrilled because I got I got Mitchell album coming on
and uh no, yeah, we've been communicating with each other.
Just got back from Haiti where he you know, adopted,
he and his wife adopted a little girl a while
back and really just you know, uh finished his new
uh book twice, which is phenomenal eye books. Tears in
(11:30):
my eyes reading that. So he's agreed to come on Monday.
So I'm very, very very excited to uh interview him
for a good hour books.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
Has he written rat Road?
Speaker 5 (11:39):
Yes, oh, Man, I don't know, no, no, no, no.
I mean he's got you know, obviously starting with Tuesdays
with more he know. He first one he wrote that
I was familiar with was about the Fab five because
he was working for the Detroit Free Press to be
a sports writer on the basketball players.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Oh okay, and they're only four.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
I think in the Fab four.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
Well, Billy Pressure was considered the FI.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (11:58):
I guess you're right technically. But any way, I'm really
excited to all let folks know Hofe. They can listen
to that. Very good. All right, very you've.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Got one problem take to come back. We got plenty
more to cover.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
When we come back, the three of us are gonna
be unfiltered for the first time ever.
Speaker 6 (12:13):
What's next?
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Comment man program on the fan.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
We all remember that one teacher who made a difference,

Speaker 1 (12:40):

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Text message from Burloaks chef Guy burl Oaks from white
Folk golf Course over on the west side of town,
out in that same neck of the woods as as
wind Song Farms. I've played Burladarin. They're going in a
renovation out there as well. All these golf courses are.
But Burlock's chef Guy says, come and trust me. Buy
(13:09):
an air fryer for you and Potato. The ninja model
that can't the levers up and out of the way
when not in use is the way to go. Here's
another piece from Randy and Richmond, originally from Saint cloud
Soggy fries from McDonald's when you get home, no problem, No,
put them in the air fry and they taste crispy
as they came out of the oil fryer.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
That's what and someone else has said the same thing.
They say. Drew says, air fryer is awesome. The only
way to reheat fries. I had no idea.
Speaker 5 (13:38):
Yeah, we make potatoes, so I haven't done the refry.
I mean to put them in the fries reheat the fries.
But there's a thousand different uses for them, and there's
some really easy recipes with them. But you know, I
think if you have, you know, the kind of lifestyle
like you know, car and gets home we want to do,
it's easier to make things in there and quickly and
efficiently and taste great than it is using the convention
(13:58):
convensional ovens. From most part, Yeah, it's really convenient. One
of the best inventions I've seen a long time.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
From Larry of my Another guy, Ow did come and
get home from ours Chev after dropping out Potato's car.
Didn't think he possibly left his keys in that vehicle.
No deuce picked me up. I wasn't planning to even
leave the car there. I was just going to charge
the car. Then when I was coming from thirteen fourteen
insane lane tomur Chev, that light came agot I came
(14:31):
on again. That said, and by the way myers chef
is tetally and says the car's fixed, it's ready to
be okay, But it said reduced acceleration, drive with care. Now,
when I accelerated, it still went like a bat out
of you nowhere. That's what those electric cars do, they
just take off. So I hooked up the.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Car to the charger.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
I talked to the service department and they said, well,
you can leave it overnight, will look at it first
thing in the morning. So that I, I don't know, I have.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
To explain myself. What guy.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Yeah, So I called my away and said, either your
Deuce is going to have to come and get me
because I'm leaving your car here.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
And so Deuce came and picked me up in his car.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Then I had to take Deuce's car back to my
our chef at one o'clock in the morning, cause I
thought maybe my vas in my in my wife's car.
And then I thought, I wonder if I took my
keys and put him in the envelope and put him
in the overnight dropbox, because that's where they want to meet.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
What have you misplaced more keys or your phone? My mind, Well,
that's true, my keys more than the phone.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
But both I.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
I I my sunglasses. I thought I lost those. I
called the golf course. I texted Jack and Tom at Preshwick,
and I said, I think maybe I left my my
sunglasses in the golf court.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
You know where they were.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
So Deuce came home from a trip recently, and he's
worse than me. He just throws things wherever he wants.
So he has one of those smaller suitcases and he
left it right by the front door in the dining room,
and it was open. And when I came in with
a handful of stuff, I dropped my sunglasses in there accidentally.
I didn't know where they were. And then when I
(16:12):
went to go move.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
His suitcase, I saw my sunglasses. I thought they were gone.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
I texted the guys in the golf course, could you
look for I lose something.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
I've already lost my mind, so I can't lose that again.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
I lose something every single day or every other day.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
At our age, you have to be.
Speaker 5 (16:32):
Conscious of having repetitive behavior when it comes to leaving
the keys, wallet, cell phone in the same place every night,
otherwise you will end up losing sunglasses, whatever it might be.
You know, those the essentials I think it starts with well,
keys obviously, because you can't go anywhere without your keys.
But phone is right up there, and that's the one
(16:53):
that I'm always, you know, leaving it at a restaurant
or talking and I leave it on the table and
I walk out and somewhere from the wait staff is
running after me because I forgot my phone.
Speaker 6 (17:03):
There.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
That's there's a.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Text manage that says this common eating chips are using
a salt grinder. That was so I was having some.
I'm an avocado. I love avocados night. They're very It's
a healthy fat. You gotta fat in your in your
diet or you want, it's best to eat healthy fats.
Olives are also a source of healthy fat. I know,
(17:26):
I can't. I could eat all mushrooms. I don't like mushrooms,
but I love olives. So there's a a mix of
herbs and spices that are specifically for avocado. If you're
making avocado toast, I'm not putting the avocado on toast,
but I still and I was using the grinder, so
I was it was a grinder.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
I didn't know that was going over the air.
Speaker 5 (17:47):
I well, you know, cooking tips constantly with common man.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
That's what we do well. My wife does rattles well.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
I understand that, and so that's always good to you said,
you watched the Wild, it looks like the Wall the same.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
The Ballstead kid is as good as it get.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Tabby what's his record now, like six oho and one
five oh and two five.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
They had a nice record.
Speaker 5 (18:07):
They had a stat as the game was and he
had as he continued to shut out streak where they
were up to one hundred and seventy one straight minutes.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
They'll give it up a goal. I think Tenna was.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
I may have been in. It was on national TV
last night, and Carolina is a first place team, and
and they came back and ended up tying it up
with you know, just crossed the puck, just crossing the
goal line with fifty They pulled a goal with fifty
seconds to go.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
So I went to ot and.
Speaker 5 (18:33):
Uh, nothing materializing the three on three and then they
had the old shootout and Walstead was you know, he
was a human wall. He did what he needed to
do and boldly got the winning goal, right, and he
had scored the other one, yeah, the shootout goal too. Yeah,
So yeah, nice went you know, late night for the
people who were able to stay there. They got up
to a later start than even normal because the first
(18:54):
game ran over, of course, and so you know, I'm
looking at my watch and going, is it midnight right now?
There's I'm pretty close to it for a regular season
game against an East Coast team. It's crazy, but you
know they're playing well. They got the two points and
good for them. They're playing. They're playing at a higher
level right now, and they're playing really well.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Sorry, I turn on my mic.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
I always knew Rosen was born to be a model.
He looks like a Bristol twenty one year old at
seventy three. He is the definition of sex appeal work
at Rosie. Wow, Wow, I hope that was a female.
Well it's Kevin from Woodbury, damn it.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
Well, I would exactly say, I'm a model. We're just
doing this for charity tomorrow night, and I'm happy to
take part in it. I mean one of I mean,
it's going to be a madhouse. We had. We were
on one of those conference calls the other night and
I was like, well, I a tip of the cap
to the people who are organizing this thing, trying to
keep you know, people in line and where they're going
to go, and they have kids involved with it, and
it's a big deal and you know they're going to
(19:52):
raise a lot of money for the hospital. So that's
that's the most important thing.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Common Try keeping your keys, wall, sunglasses, and your microwave
and in your right front pockets.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Know where they are the rum prop up. That's what
tenneb does. Yeah, right pocket.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
When you get home, do you take it out of
the pocket. Kennaby is the one person this is an
amazing thing. When he gets home he keeps his wallet,
his phone in his pocket and lounges.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
I'm jeans. That's what I have then all day.
Speaker 5 (20:26):
It's kind of bulky that way, and you can I don't.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
Know, that's what most people think. But not the front,
that's not on the back.
Speaker 5 (20:32):
I know that's true. Well mine, I have the I
I still have to don't even try to George Costanzo wallet.
I still have to get rid of crap and it's
in my wallet. But what do you have in your wallet?
I got too many cards, not credit cards, like you know,
cards I really don't need. Well like what well, I'll
show you. I mean, why do you have.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
That big of a wall.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Oh my gosh, look at it size the Chicago phone director.
Speaker 5 (20:54):
I mean, I have my health, you know stuff, and
then I got like fricity media. Now I don't need that.
That's insurance card my my accountant.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Uh just yeah, you don't need those with you.
Speaker 5 (21:07):
My cardiologists. In case you give me a heart attack,
you might want to keep that one in there. My
sag after card twist to the orthopedic Pinnacle foot care.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Yeah, I don't need all this stuff. You don't need
them with you. No, I don't know. You're right, get
home to find the card. You're right, you're card.
Speaker 5 (21:23):
I mean I need my you know, obviously my U
when I get stopped by the police, you know, for
my here's what I have. Look at hard shirts. That's smart.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
It's it's a leather it's a leather credit card thing.
Speaker 5 (21:34):
It's it's that smart. No, I know.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
It's got my bank card in it, my driver's license
on my credit card.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
That's all I need.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
I got to be more, just yet, one of these
these are really hard to find to exactly.
Speaker 5 (21:47):
I'll be afraid of losing that. But no, I'm with you,
trust I have that before too. I keep the I
keep them in the same place every night I try.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
I lose things so much like if I take my
credit card out to pay at the pump, right right
when I get back in the car, I look to
make sure all three of those cards are still in
the leather thing.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
That I didn't drop one lane on the laying on
the ground. Oh, I've done that before too.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
There was a time when I back of my hate
Ashbury days where a bag of don't dropped out of
my car and I drove away panic went back.
Speaker 5 (22:17):
Was still there?
Speaker 3 (22:17):
Well, we didn't have credit cards back there?
Speaker 5 (22:19):
We didn't.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
We'll take a break back.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
One more segment to go here on the common Man,
Prolo and the Fan.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
Hey Rubes.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
This football season, bel Bank is giving one kfan listener
each week one thousand dollars to pay it forward to
charity of their choice. Just head over to kfan dot
com Keeper Contests to learn more and entered today. That's
KFA dot com Keyber Contest a couple thirteen fourteen past.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
I'm calm and he's tending to be the legendary Mark
Rose and here as well.
Speaker 5 (22:58):
Your goal for football team.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
It's still stuck on six wins. They're Bowl eligible though,
Yeah they're eligible.
Speaker 5 (23:06):
But yeah, they're six and four, six and five.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
I don't know what their record is Northwestern at Wrigley
Is that correct?
Speaker 5 (23:13):
Or playing is correct? I was talking to guards you
about that, and they're.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
Doing that because are they redoing the Northwestern stadium?
Speaker 5 (23:20):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
I think they think.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
I just sometimes they play a game, play a game
there because just because they can.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
But I also thought they were as possible. I can't
have my information wrong. Yeah, would be the first time
players used to play there all the time.
Speaker 5 (23:35):
What do you think?
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Club against Northwestern?
Speaker 5 (23:38):
It's a game that you will be nice to know
that that they're capable of winning. It's it's right, as
I said the other day, they're back in their weight class.
I mean it's not Oregon, it's not Ohio State, it's
not you know, Iowa. I mean it's a team that
the Gophers are slight underdogs. But these are the types
of games that you just need to win if you
want to kind of move the needle a little bit
(23:59):
more with your football program. And it's not going to
cause massive waves. They are not going to rush the
field and go for fans, but you know they might
well I don't. I don't unless they want.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
We talked about this yesterday or maybe the day before,
but moving the needle.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
Are we still at the point.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
Where win with Northwestern would move the needle?
Speaker 5 (24:16):
I mean no, it's just another win.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
I mean it's it's like, not that they're supposed to
beat Northwestern every single time they play them, but beating
north Western would make me go, oh, I think Flux
got the team ahead and right now. No, they've had
three humiliating losses to really good teams. But it's not
they weren't even games they haven't played.
Speaker 5 (24:35):
I haven't come close on the road. There haven't been
even close to being competitive on the road in any
of their games.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (24:41):
The Iowa one really stands out to me more than
the other two because they're playing you know, literally the
top top two of the top ranked teams in the country.
But Iowa they got smoked on national television. That was
really tough to watch. So yeah, I mean no, it's
not going to move the needle. It's just an opportunity
to win another game and a game that there should
be competitive in and to see if they've made those
incremental improvements as this season has gone on, and they
(25:03):
get down in the wire here in their Big Ten schedule.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
I mean, it's not a lot of you they get
pumped up about.
Speaker 5 (25:10):
I mean, you hope they win. I'll watch it, you know,
I'll try to keep an eye on it. And Saturday morning,
I think it's eleven o'clock game, and I'm sure I'm
more than a fair amount of go for fans going
to the hell grounds of Wrigley Field to watch a
football game. As I said, they used to play a
lot of college and the Bears, as I said, played
there for a long time along with Soldier Field. I
(25:31):
think they kind of went back and forth. I'm going
to play golf.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Yeah, let me know.
Speaker 5 (25:38):
That's a good weekend. I'm not gonna let you know
how the game was. You can check your phone.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Sunday, Vikings will a bee at Curly to take on
the Packers. You'll hear that game on this radio station.
Our coverage begins at ten. Be here for the pooch
kick to about the five yard line. Then we'll turn
to the twenty two. We don't boom in anymore at
twelve noon. Uh you know again, Mathematically, the Vikings are
still you know, in line and you run the table,
(26:05):
and of course the record would be, uh love it
at six. I don't think they're gonna run the table,
but you're still playing to win games.
Speaker 6 (26:13):
I know.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
We had the discussion.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
We had fans and listeners texting in for the last
couple of weeks. Do any old the Vikings are?
Speaker 2 (26:23):
You know, before Wentz had the season ending injury, McCarthy's
ankle allegedly healed, we had people say, well, you know what,
we're not going to the big game anyway, so I mean,
you know, we as.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
Well see what we have. McCarthy.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
The franchise doesn't feel like that.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
They're never there.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
I mean if they lose three in a row and
go to four and nine, well then they will know that,
yeah it's over. They're still going to, I think, try
to win games, but it is to the point where
it it's getting even if you're a fan of the club,
it's hard to really feel real confident about this game
(27:02):
against Green Bay.
Speaker 4 (27:02):
Wouldjuan ree?
Speaker 3 (27:04):
Yes and no.
Speaker 5 (27:05):
I just think that because of the history between the teams,
that the Vikings have played pretty well Lambell the Packers have.
You know, they've lost a few they said they haven't
been covering the spread. They're kind of they have their
own issues right now. It's interesting that, you know, it's
this discussion carries on and the Vikings made a minor move,
but they're turning it into the opportunity to return Ryan
(27:27):
Kelly to the starting lineup their center. I was asking
tena between the commercial breaks the start one or two
games before the latest concussion.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
With Alpins Blneman. They don't have stats, but I did.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
I'm reading a Kevin Secret story from October fourth, So
obviously he started game one right. He went into concussion
protocol in Game two, and that's been his second game
of the season, so he missed the following game. He
then returned against the Steelers, but went back in home,
went back in the Concussion It halftime.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
Fifth documentary where there could be others that because I
think sometimes players get their bells wrong and don't go
into a concussion protocol and they still.
Speaker 5 (28:07):
May have something for me. You know, independent person has
to take care of it. But you know, cause he's.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
Been wearing uh O'Connell said yesterday he's been wearing one
of the guardian helmets.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
I don't probably will during the game.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
I really I don't know.
Speaker 5 (28:19):
I mean when I say I don't know, I've talked
enough people that really guard against help guard against another concussion.
You hope that's that's the case. You know, the Vikings
are really down in cornerbacks. You know that Fabian Moreau
is playing now and with Cutting McLoughlin, they're a little
thin back there. But you know, I you know, they
need to try to get it really is ironic because
(28:40):
here we are, the season, season on the brink, and
probably if Grenard comes back this week, the healthiest they've
been all season really with Jefferson obviously been back, and
you know, the offensive line intact, the running backs Aaron
Jones is playing, you know again, and Ginkle back. I mean,
(29:01):
there's no so they answer your question. I mean there's
from a standpoint of talent versus talent, I mean, it's
a pretty evenly matched game as it normally is with
Minnesota and Green Bay, and I you know, I think
that the fact that the Vikings are pretty healthy right now,
you know, shouldn't.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
That's why you picked them? You think they're gonna win? Well,
I picked them. I hope they win.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
I think Green Baale win the game. I mean, I
want the Vikings to win. I hope they win. But
if you're asking me to pick, I understand that.
Speaker 5 (29:28):
I think I thought my point when spreads Hill six
and a half point favorites is that's why wins.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
I don't care about point. I'm talking about right now,
just who do you think will win the game?
Speaker 3 (29:38):
And the reason.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Until McCarthy puts together more than one drive or one quarter,
i'm not convinced he's able to lead a team to it.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Well, he did it in Detroit.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
Yeah, he did in Detroit, but that was more their
defense than than he was. Okay, he he was fine,
He was fine.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
You know, that's okay.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
But until he plays a complete game where it's like
his high completion percentage, he doesn't turn the ball over,
he's in command that you know, he's an overthrowing receivers,
you know, over their heads by ten fifteen yards.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
Until he does that, it's hard for me to just look
at this team of.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
Courses they're going to win a game, of course it is.
It's I mean, even the conversation went all the way back.
I mean McCarthy talked about it, but the mechanics he
learned what he was playing for harbaughd Michigan. I mean,
it's just it's like, are we really having this discussion
right now about what what.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
He learned at Michigan?
Speaker 5 (30:34):
You know, it's kind of it's baffling, and you know,
there's no way of having a shortcut to what he
needs to do to get better other than more and
more reps and patients. Is then, when you're playing once
a week and you're playing on a team that was,
you know, thirteen and four last year, and expectations at
(30:56):
the least were to get back to the postseason and
finally win a playoff game. But right now you're you know,
as they say, skating on skating on thin ice with
with that prospect, and then you got to go to
Seattle next week, and.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
You think they're going to make the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (31:11):
I think, no, I don't. I don't know. I don'
I don't think they'll make you play. They'll win some games,
but I think because the health of this team is
remarkable right now, they really should win some games. I
do think this will be a drag out field goal
type game on Sunday. I don't see green Bay has
not exactly even burning up the scoreboard you know, they
(31:34):
got a lot of.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Points last week, didn't they. They scored twenty eight or
thirty one against the Giants.
Speaker 5 (31:40):
Yeah, they almost lost that game though too. I almost
blew that game. I'm just saying that on one side
of the Yeah, they scored points, but they also, you know,
almost blew it to underman giants.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
Vikings club a lot.
Speaker 5 (31:54):
I like the talent they have, but of course everyone
has the same questions about the quarterback right now until
proven otherwise. Strength and drives together, I mean, you know,
have an up tempo kind of offense. And I was
the last drive of the game was like, wait, who
is that the same guy we just watched for three
plus quarters getting the line of scrimmage, just getting the
ball out of his hands quickly, and and and they
(32:16):
had some look at they had drops last week, other
things that went on. Obviously they probably would have the
conversation would have been a little bit different had the
kick coverage been there on that last one. And the
Vikes were able to stop Caleb Williams on that last
drive from getting in the field goal range. But you
know that's a moot point. They didn't, So they didn't
and the Bears won if de.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Troy would if Detroit would have converted on two of
those four doownds, they would have won the football game.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
If they wouldn't have got job by the officials.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
On that terrible call, they would have had a chance
to win the game.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
So you can do that about every game. Yeah, everyone does.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
If Donald wouldn't have thrown four interceptions, ms, well, they
almost did.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
With four interceptions. They had the game. It was theirs
to win.
Speaker 5 (33:00):
And they lost it. So that's just the way it
is in the national football it is. That's why we
love the week to week drama.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
For those that think I don't pay attention to things,
one thing I do pay attention to is college football
stadium construction. Okay, it says, yes, Northwestern plays games at
Wrigley after the Cubs are done with their season while
their new stadium is being built. Their new stadium is
opening next year. See how I follow the sport.
Speaker 3 (33:27):
See that's what, junior do You what you said you
didn't know? And I follow Northwestern.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
They have ten thousand people show up for those football games.
I mean, I guess it's about time they have a
new stadium there. I've been to that stadium. I have
the second high school stadium.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
I watch all the Northwestern games. I have the Northwestern
television network. Sure it's like you watched all the Boston
college football game hockey games. I watch all the Northwestern football.
That's what I do.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
The Twins.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
No, boy, they made that trade, and it's obvious. I
don't think we're going to be spending a whole bunch
of time out about the Twins. I really don't. It
would be it'd be pretty shocking if they were. If
they if they put themselves in the mix this year,
they're basically at total rebuild, right. I mean, even if
(34:17):
they keep a couple of their core players like Buxton, Lewis,
Ryan and Lopez, four players does not a team make.
And they're gonna rely on a lot of young guys,
and you know, the issue with it. The issue with
it is, you know, after the trade deadline they acquired
some some young talent that you know again that that
I've gotten.
Speaker 4 (34:39):
Nice reviews.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
But I've said this before.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
We hear this all the time about not just the Twins, Pharmacists,
but about others. Well, they got a lot of really
good young team right, but they don't all pan out,
and so like let's say you have in your system,
let's say you have twelve guys that are considered really good. Well,
of those twelve, how many are going to end up
being really good at the major record five?
Speaker 3 (35:02):
I mean, you know that's the thing and stuff.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Yeah, and so you know they and I know the organizations,
that's what they do is they sell hope. But then
I just until I actually said, like the walker Kesseley,
what was his to Kessler?
Speaker 3 (35:17):
Kessler?
Speaker 2 (35:18):
You know, now he seems like he can't miss, but
he could miss.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
But you have a couple of guys like that. But
that again, that does not a team make. And so
I think supposed to be one. Well that's it.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
And Lewis showed flashes early, but he's been injury riddled.
And then he remember he talked about he didn't believe
in slumps. They had they had a story in the
fish rap Factory west Side. Either it was the fish.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
Rapper, it was Athletic.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
The Athletic that had a story last year that listed
the longest slumps in Twins history and of the top
like thirty, he had two of the top thirty. Amazing
and he admitted, well, yeah, yess I am slumpy. And
so you know, I is highly regarded as he was.
I think he was considered not only the top prospect
in the Twins organization, but at one time in all
of baseball.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
I would think that talent is still there and he
is going to.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
Be able to cultivate that and become a strong everyday player,
maybe the lead player.
Speaker 3 (36:09):
But we just don't know.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
And that's why when the Twins talk about all their
young talent and the miners, I just roll my eyes,
shrug my shoulders.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
Shape my head, and say, we'll.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
Well see well.
Speaker 5 (36:18):
And again every time I check social media and Aaron
Lehman is on top of it. Of course, seems like
the Twins payroll shrinking every time I look at it.
And this is Aaron wrote this two hours ago. It
sure seems like the Twins payroll, currently at ninety six million,
will sink below Metrodome era spending relative to the league.
And he had a whole column about which I don't
need to get into. But you know, we don't get
(36:40):
any messaging from the front office about pretty much anything
other than they hired a new manager, and you know,
the continued potential of you know, trading Joe Ryan and
or Pablo Lopez. There are only two starting pitchers that
they really have is still on the potentially on the horizon,
and you know, you know, before you know it, you know,
pitchers and catchers will be reporting to Fort Myers and
(37:02):
and and you're selling what And it's not all equated
to payroll, but it's certainly. Man, it's just there's never
anything to kind of rally in the most ardent Twins
fan to get excited about next spring. And that's that's
where we are with this team, with the ownership, with
(37:23):
the you know, the limited owners that still haven't been announced.
I thought that's going to happen quite a while ago.
They were going to potentially infuse some more money into
this team and in the payroll. But it's just silence
all as all, we're hearing out of target field, So
good luck. I don't know how else to try to
(37:47):
get the word out about what this team is doing
because we don't know pretty much nothing. Making a minor
league trade.
Speaker 4 (37:54):
I guess his name is actually Walker Jenkins.
Speaker 5 (37:56):
Walker Jenkins, what did I say? Walker Kesler Kessler players
of the Jazz. He plays and I wanted to we
traded him. We had him at one time. He got
hurt too, so we let him go.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
We could have had him.
Speaker 5 (38:07):
They don't need them.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
You know what, we're going to rue the day that
we tell you we are.
Speaker 4 (38:13):
I think he's got a bright future.
Speaker 5 (38:14):
Well he might. I hope he does, but right now
it's not playing very much.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
Tennebee. Frost got one of their original players back. I
don't know much about her, so I'm not gonna be
able to enter that very well. She was on. She
won two Cups what do we call them, Commissioners Cups?
Speaker 1 (38:30):
Yeah, I mean they lost a lot of players in
the offices, and obviously the two expansion franchises. They lost
a lot on the blue line. They maintained both of
their goalies and a lot of their probably highest end
scoring talent. But really what's been the strength of that
team over the last few years, especially going playoff time,
is their ability to defend. Yeah, so we'll see if
(38:52):
they're able to.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
Much like that wild time we fight and defend at
the very end or whatever they say.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
So I don't know a whole lot about the replacements yet.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
Well, here's what what I like about the Frost is
they never melt.
Speaker 3 (39:06):
Well, they don't. I mean haven't.
Speaker 2 (39:08):
They had their backs against the wall the first two
seasons where they were on the brink of elimination.
Speaker 4 (39:11):
I had to win like five games in a row
just to qual it.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
Wasn't it the story for one of their years they
had to win like the five and ard just to
make it to the playoffs, and they did.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
I think the first year, I think they actually went
the opposite way where they were losing all the games.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Yeah, they barely hung on. It was year two. The
I don't remember what year was waste. Maybe last year
was the one.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
Where they hung on.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
Anyway, all they do is win, like.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
Yeah, they they cut their teeth in the penalty box.
Speaker 5 (39:40):
So so the wild players walking in with the Frost
jerseys on last Nay sweaters on last Nay, all for one,
one for all.
Speaker 6 (39:47):
Yeah, yeah, I don't need that. I just don't need that.
Speaker 4 (40:06):
So you're on record you're taking the Vikings to win
at Lambeau.
Speaker 5 (40:09):
I'm not taking the Vikings, but I think it's going
to be a field goal game. I just think.
Speaker 3 (40:14):
So you're picking Green Bay? No, are you? I don't
really who do you think? I sounds like he's waffling.
Speaker 6 (40:22):
He is?
Speaker 3 (40:22):
I think Green Bay is going to win.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
I don't want them to win, but I'm not afraid
to upset Viking fans who really want them to win,
to just say I think Green Bay is going to
win the game. And till McCarthy shows me he can
put a complete game together, I don't believe it.
Speaker 1 (40:37):
The most concerning thing is it's all talk about his
mechanics right now, and the and the talk from the
experts are those mechanics are fixable. But I don't think
they're fixable in one week. I think I think that's
like an off season. You need to fix those things.
So I don't imagine J. J. McCarthy all of a
sudden coming up with a brilliant performance what he said.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
He said, it's like a quirk about to pop off,
a Champagne bot.
Speaker 5 (41:00):
Like the scripted plays at the beginning and the scripted
plays at the end have been pretty successful.
Speaker 3 (41:07):
It's what goes something between that's been killing them. Are
they scripting plays at the end?
Speaker 5 (41:11):
Well, I don't know. They think they did. Then the
last drive they they certainly had the hardest script plays
at the end. Well, the tempa was different, and he
got to the line of scrimmage just slinging it.
Speaker 3 (41:21):
I might be the hockey guy, and I tend to be.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
